EPS to fall very soon

The 58 Division now advancing north following the fall of Kilinochchi is 2kms away from Elephant Pass. In most probability, EPS will fall by tomorrow. Already LTTE has started withdrawing to Chalai by sea. The Mech Infantry has not even been deployed yet.

Meanwhile heavy fighting was reported this evening at Chilawatte in the general area Mullayaweli in Mulaitivu. 29 Charles Anthony cadres were killed and another 28 injured in the fighting. 14 soldiers were allso injured. No deaths to own troops.

Elephant Pass being vacated

LTTE has started vacating Elephant Pass, sources told DefenceWire. With the Mechanized Infantry Division, comprising mainly of Air Mobile troops under the leadership of Ralph Nugera revving their engines, LTTE is fast running-out of places to run. It is at present limited to Elephant Pass, Palai, Puthukudirippu and the coastal areas from Mulaitivu to Nagarkovil.

Meanwhile unconfirmed sources claimed Prabhakaran's wife Mathivathini has applied for Asylum in Canada from India.

Attack in front of Air Force camp, Slave Island

Desperate LTTE blasted a bomb in front of Air Force camp, Slave Island. Attack has damaged a Moratuwa-Colombo plying civilian bus. The attack was launched by a suicide bomber on a motorcycle. 2 killed 32 injured, 3 very seriously.

Heavy security was in place in Colombo, suburbs and main cities today following intelligence warnings. Military Intelligence recently uncovered LTTE plans of launching random suicide attacks targeting even civilians since they are unable to breach the security of VVIPs.

Hundreds of people took to the streets in Trishaws, vans etc carrying the Lion Flag celebrating the capture of Kilinochchi today as President Mahinda Rajapakse and the Army Commander addressed the nation live on National TV.

KILINOCHCHI HAS FALLEN

LTTE launched a counter attack on the 571 now in control of Kilinochchi Train Station, which is now being beaten back. The town of Kilinochchi is being cleared house to house. Another counter attack was launched against the 59 in the morning near oddusudan, which was also repulsed.


DEFENCEWIRE BREAKING NEWS- The LTTE capital Kilinochchi is now being vacated as troops from the 57 converge on it from all sides. The Town is expected to fall completely into the hands of the Army shortly and it will be declared captured after clearing by tomorrow.

Meanwhile 35 Ratha Regiment elite Tigers were killed when they clashed with a Brigade from the 59 Division near the town of Oddusudan yesterday. 15 bodies of the elite cadres were recovered.

This Brigade from the 59 has bypassed Oddusudan and is heading towards two LTTE airstrips situated South East and North West of Puthukudiirippu. Out of a total of six airstrips detected by the military, 3 are within our grasp, including the one at Iranamadu.
