Tough days for LTTE 'middle-management'

A team of Commandos from the Special Task Force acting on Military Intelligence this morning ambushed a group of 15 Tigers at Kotiyagala (Situated near general area Siyambalanduwa) along the Ampara-Monaragala border killing 13 and injuring another two who subsequently escaped.

The team was part of a 75-member unit deployed under LTTE leaders "Colonel" Ram and Nagulan operating from the general area Kanjikudiaru.

Meanwhile the former "Special Commander" of the Chalres Anthony Brigade Gobith and the last known "Special Commander" of the same unit, Amuthab have been killed in fighting at Ananthapuram, a village on the A-35 road.

"Colonel" Gobith once headed the famed Charles Anthony Unit and "Lt. Colonel" Pallavan functioned as his Deputy Commander until Pallavan and a team of 200 Charles Anthony cadres were surrounded and routed by the Special Forces and the 57 Division. "Lt. Colonel" Amuthab, who Military Intelligence says was similar in appearance to a westerner then replaced Pallavan and subsequently Gobith until both of them were routed on the same day at Ananthapuram.
