Heavy fighting was reported from Chilawatte as 59 Division engaged the LTTE yesterday. 7 soldiers were killed and another 70 injured in the fighting. LTTE is concentrating its forces to the east of the Mulaitivu Lagoon. The strategy will be to travel from the west of the lagoon to the east.
Heavy fighting was also reported south of Iranamadu, at Ampakamam north in the last few days as Task Force 3 under Brigadier Liyanage headed into LTTE areas. 10 LTTE cadres were confirmed killed in the attack while some Charles Anthony, Imran Pandian, Malathi unit cadres have started abandoning their posts and escaping the LTTE along with their civilian captives.
While some LTTE teams in Mulaitivu still engage in the failed bund/trench defense system to stop an army, which became outdated in World War I, LTTE units east of Kilinochchi, who learnt their lesson the hard war from the 57 and the 58, have started deploying small teams for hit and run operations, particularly at Vattakachchi.
Troops advancing on Vishvamadu and about 7km away from their target while resistance in the general area north of Paranthan has gradually diminished as troops reach Chundikulam (Sundikulam).

I have a suggestion for you Indians: We will send all LTTE-supporters of a monoethnic Tamil Eelam in Sri Lanka to only true Homeland of Tamils in the world of Tamil Nadu. You guys can try to live with them! My guess is that before too long you will be serving them on your knees. Be warned, they are difficult to please; equal rights will not be enough. They have inflated egos and a conviction that they are "super intelligent" and therefore deserve more rights than others, without any responsibilities, of course. I haven't been "inspecting" the video at all. I watched it once and was then to disgusted to watch it again. Lol.. the producer of a movie? It doesn't take much to see what was going on in that video my friend... The soldier zoomed in on the dead woman's genitals! It's just disgusting.. You can talk all you like about women in war and everything else, but this is just about showing a little decency to the dead. No matter who they are, they are dead, so at least the soldiers could behave like human beings.

Stopterro uses a very sound argument. SLAF or India can't cover Mulathiv coast by radar. So using one or more zlins he could flew to a boat or ship and then move to a safe place. COLOMBO, Oct 20 (Reuters) - There is no way Sri Lanka's government will be able to crush its Tamil Tiger foes, and giving wide political autonomy to minority Tamils is the only answer, a leading European counter-terrorism expert says. With near daily land and sea clashes, ambushes, bombings and air raids amid a new chapter in a two-decade civil war that has killed around 70,000 people, the government is now taking the war to the rebels with offensives to drive them from territory they control.
But the tactic is flawed and cannot solve an ethnic conflict that has killed around 5,000 people since early 2006 alone, said Dr. Gerard Chaliand, former director of the European Center for the Study of Conflicts.
'No way, you can't crush the Tigers,' Chaliand told Reuters in an interview on the sidelines of a counter-terrorism conference in Colombo at which he was a keynote speaker. 'Technically speaking they are the most efficient movement at present in the world.'
'Before them I've seen two others which were outstanding. The Vietnamese, and the EPLF from Eritrea -- they won. (The Tigers) are the third one,' he added.
'You don't crush those guys with the Sri Lankan army, which by the way is not the best in the world.'
Sri Lankan Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, President Mahinda Rajapaksa's brother, disagrees, and says Chaliand does not know the ground realities.
'I don't agree with that at all. I'm sure we are the best when you talk about counter-terrorism, who else has had to do this?' Rajapaksa said. ' He can't make a comment like that, it's not logical.'
'He doesn't know the ground situation, he is looking from far away,' he added, saying Chaliand did not know what arms the military are using or about the morale of either side.
Chaliand describes the Tigers as a totalitarian killing machine, and says there appears to be little prospect of negotiating a peace deal with the rebels as long as shadowy rebel leader Velupillai Prabhakaran remains at the helm.
Removing Prabhakaran from the equation would help, but the answer is to give significant autonomy to minority Tamils, which the government has so far failed to do, he says.
The government has promised widespread autonomy for minority Tamils and has also vowed to destroy all the Tigers' military assets and 'liberate' all areas controlled by the Tigers, including in their northern stronghold.
But a cross-party drive to come up with a consensus devolution proposal has been aground for months, and even moderate Tamils were unhappy with draft proposals the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam -- who are widely banned as a terrorist group -- have already rejected out of hand.
'The grievances of the Tamils are legitimate, they are part of this country, they should have a place in it as a recognised minority, whether it is in the framework of political autonomy or a federation,' Chaliand said.
'If they want Tamils to join them, they have to make a fair offer,' he added. 'There is no military solution to this business only.'
While the government has had the upper hand in recent months, capturing swathes of rebel-held territory in the east, analysts say there is no clear winner on the horizon and fear the conflict could grind on for years.
The government has called on the international community to help tackle the Tigers by curbing their fund-raising abroad. /

its strange you picked the ones i have with good reason to believe were done by ltte. i dont have the time into detail, but consider Vaankalai massacre. the following info are generally credible;
1. the photo appears first in LTTE channels even before the murders were discovered by the police. it includes graphic detail how the guts were ripped out from children. how would pathivu.com able to get photo's of the gruesome crime scene BEFORE police investigation?
2. LTTE accused the army of raping the woman. a used condom is found near the crime scene. however, the postmortem by mannar officials reveal there has been no rape. LTTE these days commonly use raping allegations against the army for propaganda purposes. the last time anyone raped anyone was 2 decades ago.
3. the man of the family was a known operative of EPDP. the local LTTE leader who allegedly responsible was taken out by LRRP 2 weeks later on info from locals.
this is not all, 17 air workers, the aleppady incident, the massacre of bus load at madhu were all by LTTE staged or commited themseleves to throw mud at the army. the only where reasonable suspicion exists is the killing of 5 students in trinco by STF. even that wasn't a premeditated killing/staging like the ones commited by LTTE.

Listening to his comments, I tried to visualize what could be the situation if Sirasa TV allowed sending their own reporter to the war front, and send back live reports.

Commander notice the Sirasa reporter is also sitting among his troops, and ask "What are you doing here?".
Reporter replies "I am from Sirasa. I am a reporter".
Then the commander asks "Who let you to come here? This is suppose to be military secret".
The reporter says "I am a media person. I have a right to go and be in anywhere in this country, and report anything that happen in this country".
The army man asks "Who gave you such an authority? God Almighty?". Reporter says "No. Sunanda Deshapriya gave it to me. He's the God Father".
The army commander does not say anything. But he thought to himself "So, why don't you go to Prabha's bunker and, report what's happening there?. Isn't that a part of this country?"

So its definitely turbo prop belonging to SLAF (unless othewise ToyAirForce had turbo props....which I seriously doubt) May be one of the Avros or Y8s which were shot down using SAMs.

Towards the end of the vid they also show the remains of an airframe of a chopper.....from the looks of it, it was never meant to fly....sure its a prop....probably to fools the DieASsPora monkeys.

Agree mate.....if I remember correctly in most cases when SLAF aircraft were shot down, we lost our pilots.
But I remember reading about a SLAF pilot who survived a crash and who was later rescued and treated by Tamil villagers ....I think the guy ultimately made it to cleared areas....may be my memory is playing tricks on me....so don't take this as fact.

Here are the likely candidates for the wreckage (in my opinion):
1) July 14, 1992: A SLAF Aermacchi SF.260TP was shot down by LTTE. Pilot killed.[1]
2) October 13, 1993: A SLAF FMA IA 58 Pucará crashed near Jaffna.[1]
3) July 14, 1995: A SLAF FMA IA 58 Pucará was shot down by the LTTE. The pilot died.[1]
I think the likely candidates are 2) and 3). Wreckage is too big for a Aermacchi. The pilot I am referring to is in 3) (Apino, correct me if I am wrong).

We have only one suviving pukara with SLAF.Its sad we lost pilots. As I remember one pukara crashed some where closer to Thalawa area,pilot managed to bail out and come back to a village.Villagers informed it to the police and then to the SLAF.

On the LTTE side any prisoners are tortured and currently executed on the spot.
On the SLA side, they are taken to interrogation, which may not necessarily be a pleasant experience either. However, these folks are now seen regualrly by ICRC and other civillian authorities, brought before a judge and remanded for further processing. None of it is news worthy. A lot of them have returned to civillian life after a term of rehab and some have even rejoined the LTTe since they know nothing else.
So far the rehab efforts have proven to be of mediocre success.

Pseudo expert Atas is irrelevant now, and TamilNet isn't trusted even by sakkili who seem to come here when there's something new. Both DN and DW did this WHILE serving the country in SLDF. They are not paid to do this AFAIK, not by YOU in any case.

Dear Apino, thanks for caring about me. I haven’t forgotten you or others but lying low for a while because:
1. War is almost over and SLDF is wining it for us, it is a matter of time now.
2. Less and less postings from DW.
3. SLDF progress has slowed, as going get tough and tough get going.
4. Tigers are fighting back ferociously now to save their lives.
It is good to know that you are very much live and kicking well. Hop in time to time and say hello to your friends. I will do the same.
