Suspected Tamil Tiger airplanes have bombed Colombo again. Bombs fell on the Inland Revenue Department building causing a fire a while ago. The Department is situated next to Air Force Headquarters on Malay Street in Pettah.
One of the two planes have been downed near Katunayake. Body of a pilot recovered. The planes took-off from Puthukudirippu at 8.30pm and was immediately detected by the SLA. They entered Colombo around 9.30pm and missed their target and bombed IRD instead. It was on their way back that the F7 Jets intercepted one. Army was waiting for the other to land but couldn't engage because of civilian settlements.

No, you have misunderstood; or perhaps I didmn't explain how it works well enough.
Regular bloggers don't go there just to READ, they can COMMENT, INTERACT with each other just like we did at at DW. Perhaps the confusion arises from my calling them "Blog Readers" using Blogspot.com's terminology. I will change this TERMINOLGY to "REGULAR Blogger" because you have raised a good point: it misleads the bloggers into thinking they can only READ.
At DW there is only one person writing the Original Articles, and that is DW. This is, DW was the sole "Blog AUTHOR." All of us were then commenting and interacting in the Comment section of his Article, until he posted another one; we then shifted over to that newer Article.
At SriLankaPatriots Blog, there are multiple "Blog Authors", who write Articles like DW, but do so did in many different Topic Areas. The REGULAR bloggers (or "Blog Readers") can then Comment and Interact with each other on every one of these Articles.
Remember that we were always waiting for the one Blog Author at DW to update his Article? Well, at SriLankaPatriots Blog, that won't happen, because there are many Blog Authors posting many Articles, on which all REGULAR bloggers can Comment and Interact.
Blog Authors are not some exclusive club, but a group I selected on the basis of their track record of writing significant articles at DW. Some other were selected because of their additional internet working experience. I had to start somewhere. Additional Blog Authors will be added as more people wanting to write those kinds of Articles either volunteer or are identified.
Yes, security is a SIGNIFICANT problem that we are grappling with right now, because unlike DW which was driven by news on the battlefront, and was open to al, here we are strategizing and executing a plan of action to counter LTTE propaganda. We need to prevent disruption and anticipation of the work.
I would never emasculate the REGULAR Bloggers (i.e., "Blog Readers") to the point where they would just be reading other people's stuff. You have all the freedom available at DW, but there would be no Fakes, and we have control to delete access by such people.
In fact, the Comments the blogger write are the way they draft/develop documents for use as submissions to news media sites, petitions, letters to officials of governments, and organizations such as the UN, ICRC, BBC etc, using information and tools available at the Blog.

ReplyDeleteAccording to the History, Sinhalese came from North India more than 3000 years ago. SL had a good KINGs for a long time.
When the TN had so much of people they started first to come SL coastal areas as fisherman by boats to do fishing. Then they settled down in the North and later east coastal areas. Since Sinhala Kings were very peaseful & generous, they did not take any action to send them back to TN. After about 100 years now Tamils are asking for a seperate country from SL.
This is very unfair. SL is a country belong to Sinhalese.

ReplyDeleteA five star hotle in Colombo appraently turned on all their lights, thus providing direction to the LTTE pilots. THis could well have been a deliberate act, and should be reated with appropriate suspicion until proven otherwise.
