Army captured LTTE line

Sri Lanka Army was able to overrun the first line of LTTE defences in area between Giant Tank and Madhu in Mannar District early on Thursday morning killing at least 06 Tigers. Troops backed by Artillery and Multi Barrel Rocket Launchers were able to capture the LTTE bunkerline despite heavy resistance, military sources said. Army officials say that around 10-14 soldiers were injured in the pre-dawn attack, but more than 20 wounded soldiers were admitted to Anuradhapura hospital since this morning, hospital sources said. 03 soldiers succumbed to their injuries sources further added. Independent verification on Tiger casualties are not available at the moment, but military says several LTTE cadres may have been killed or injured during the attack. Sri Lanka Army made more than 10 attempts to penetrate in to the Tiger home land since early this year but failed due to heavy resistance by the LTTE.

gud.. v have to put sum more pressure to them. November is a very special month 4 LTTE. they ll try to do something bad some where. the only option we have to minimize their violence put some more pressure on front line.

With accurate artillery fire any bunker line can be penetrated. Soldiers who rush towards to bunkers to capture it must be armed with thermobaric RPG rounds to blow out the bunkers before entering to engage the remaining enemies.

My concern is LTTE will unleash a strike like AAB in Palaly...

It is likely LTTE is working around the clock to knock out the SLA's multi barrel launchers..Their main threat against taking Jaffna...

Please be ready for this eventuallity...

There should not be any if's and butt's...

You are right, the LTTE have always gone after the military hardware of the army that have troubled them the most.

Defencewire,

In case you are at liberty to tell, please tell us why this particular bunker line is so important to capture?

Sam,
Without revealing much I can say capturing areas with access to sea routes is vital to halt LTTE.
