Puthukudirippu about to fall

The Army has only 400 meters to reach the Puthukudirippu Town center. Heavy fighting raged on as both sides clashed for this final bastion. SLA is using heavy armour extensively as Tigers had removed civilians from the Town today. The town is expected to fall within the next 48hrs.

However, Tiger teams have infiltrated along the A-9. An STF ambush party was counter ambushed by Tigers in the general area north of Vavuniya at Puliyankulam.

Regarding the Zlin 143 attack, there is no confirmation of a pilot captured alive. Sources say the first plane downed on the IRD building following anti-aircraft gunfire. over 40 persons, majority civilians were injured in the downing of the plane. One person later died. The other plane went down at Welabada following F7 attack.

Troops uncover a stock of grease and fuel storage complex

Troops engaged in humanitarian operations in the Wanni have recovered the largest stock of grease and another fuel storage complex of the terrorists. The detection was made from Sundarampuram in Mullaitivu..

Our Representative Anura Dorakumbura reporting from the battle zone said the troops said the grease had been used for artilleries and mortars. In the meantime, the Security Forces also succeeded in uncovering a large haul of weapons from Sundarampuram. The LTTE is concealing their assets before fleeing, as they are unable to face attacks from the troops. The Security Forces unearthed 20 barrels of grease at Sundarampuram in Mullaitivbu. It is believed that there may be more hidden barrels. Troops of the 58th Division under Brig. Shavendra Silva captured the area recently. Thereafter, the 57th Division under Major General Jagath Dias carried out a search operation. The 9th Vijayaba Regiment recovered the stock under the 572nd Brigade commanded by Col. Senarath Bandara.

Troops seize LTTE’s main power generating centre

The Security Forces have seized the main power generating plant which supplied electricity to many bomb factories of the terrorists. Our Representative Sujith Vithana Pathirana said that it was located close to the Puthukudiyiruppu town.

Reporting from the battle zone, he said the troops seized the power generating centre and a factory which had undertaken various productions. It was located within the thick jungles in the vicinity of the Puthukudiyiruppu town. There were five large scale generators and many modern machinery within the camp. The LTTE had used these modern machinery to produce various items. The problem is as to how the terrorists acquired this machinery. The troops of the 20th Infantry Regiment of Task Force Four headed by Col. Nishantha Wanniarachchi and under the guidance of the 642nd Brigade of Lt. Col. Randuna Hathnagoda succeeded in capturing the location. The Army said that the LTTE had been running this centre for a long period. Many NGOs under the guise of supporting the innocent civilians are reported to have been operating in the area. There were eight permanent building complexes within the camp. All these were camouflaged to prevent the Air Force from monitoring the location. These were luxurious buildings.

Mayhem in South India and its Impact on Sri Lanka

Earlier last week Pranab Mukerjee, External Affairs Minister and Acting Finance Minister of India, made a brave statement in the Indian
parliament by saying that the LTTE is a terrorist organization and that they are responsible for the misery of Sri Lankan Tamils during the last thirty years. There was an instant uproar and the LTTE gallery was calling for his blood. Later this week, as the Sunday Times puts it, Pranab did a complete sumersault. He is now calling for negotiations between the Govt of Sri Lanka and the LTTE.

Today Pranab was interviewed by a TV reporter on India Now who solicited his views on Pakistan's Govt entering into a permanent ceasefire with the Taliban in the Swat Valley. With a sanctimonious face Pranab said "India is very concerned about this situation and that India does not
negotiate with terrorists." Wow ! Two sumersaults in one week.

According to the Sunday Times, the U.S. Pacific Command has offered logistics support to evacuate Tamil civilians and some sort of team from that entity may already be in Sri Lanka. It seems Pranab too is coming to Sri Lanka in two weeks. I don't think the Indians want the Americans in their back yard especially after they have made similar unsolicited offers to Sri Lanka. I would not be surprised if Pranab
puts a stop to this matter when he makes his unwelcome visit to Sri Lanka.

In a related development, there is mass chaos in Tamil Nadu courts. Dr Subramaniam Swamy, Leader of the Janata party (he is also a practicing lawyer), attempted to appear in court only to be thrashed by a group of pro-LTTE lawyers in the presence of the judge and the police. It is said that due to the lawyers strikes the courts have only functioned for ten days this year.

The day after the Swamy incident police arrested 15 lawyers involved in that matter, and it looks like all hell has broken loose since then. The lawyers have burnt a police station and vandalized cars. In turn the police have lathi charged them (the lathi is the long cane
stick used by Indian police), destroyed some of the lawyers vehicles, and cracked a few skulls in the process. Today the Chief Justice of India K. G. Balakrishnan (who is also Tamil) called for calm. The head
of the lawyers association interviewed on TV today said that the only way they will stop is if all of the top cops from the DGP (equivalent to the Sri Lanka IGP) are arrested and remanded, and if their jailed colleagues are released.

All of these incidents in TN (yesterday another lunatic set himself on fire and killed himself)are instigated by LTTE agents and their supporters who hope that the Indian Govt will turn the screws on the Sri Lanka Govt and thereby give the LTTE some relief.

(since I did this post yesterday, Chief Minister Karunanidhi has announced that he will go on a hunger strike till the police and lawyers bury the hatchet. Also, the President of India has announced the appointment of a new Chief Justice to the Madras High Court).

You all has supported to sunk verything in Tamil values including all educated political heads who can talk to world and negotiate with SLGO by just beliving a military end.

Now LTTE is not a valied coin so who is going to negotiate with SLGO? Do you think India will protect your terrorits? That's the biggest mistake that you all made. India has enough issues to be dealt with. Sonia Gandhi doesn't want to bring her son to the same mud that her husband played so she will do her best and will happy to crush atleast one danger arm from south Asian soil.

Think the reality. No LTTE propaganda can cheat this world anymore. You are in the wrong end.

LTTE is trying to achieve something for a few poeples' servival now. They spread racism, hate towards us so that they can justify their terror acts and get your support.

We are not living in a perfect world. Even Sinhalese have problems with sinhalese. Don't claim those problems as recism or oppression.

Council Conclusions on SRI LANKA
2925th GENERAL AFFAIRS Council meeting
Brussels, 23 February 2009

The Council adopted the following conclusions:
"1. The EU has been following closely developments in Sri Lanka. The EU is deeply concerned
about the evolving humanitarian crisis and vast number of Internally Displaced People (IDPs)
trapped by the fighting in northern Sri Lanka, as well as the continuing reports of high civilian
casualties. To prevent the loss of civilian life, the EU stresses the need for the provisions of
international humanitarian law and the principles of the laws of war to be respected by parties
to a conflict. The EU calls on the Government of Sri Lanka and the LTTE to comply with
these laws.
2. The EU calls for an immediate cease-fire thereby providing for the establishment of full and
unrestricted access, allowing humanitarian aid to be safely delivered and allowing civilians to
leave the conflict area. The EU condemns the LTTE's use of violence and intimidation to
prevent civilians from leaving the conflict area.
3. The EU urges the Sri Lankan Government to ensure that the temporary camps for IDPs and
the screening process for access to them are in compliance with international standards and
that independent monitoring be allowed. The UN, the ICRC, and other humanitarian
organizations need to have full access to these camps. These above conditions must be met for
the EU to be in a position to provide the required humanitarian assistance.
4. he EU remains convinced that the long standing conflict in Sri Lanka cannot be resolved by
military means. A military defeat of the LTTE will only reemphasize the need to find a
political solution in order to ensure a lasting peace. The EU recalls the Co-Chairs Statement
issued on 03/02/09 and reiterates its intention to send a Troika as soon as possible.
5. The EU calls on the LTTE to lay down its arms and to renounce terrorism and violence once
and for all, end the inhuman use of child soldiers and forced recruitment, and participate in a
political process to achieve a just and lasting solution. The EU calls on the authorities of Sri
Lanka to engage in an inclusive political process, which addresses the legitimate concerns of
all communities.
6. The EU remains deeply concerned about grave violations of human rights, in particular the
cases of enforced disappearances, extra-judicial killings as well as harassments, intimidations,
attacks on the media and human rights defenders and the climate of impunity. The EU calls on
the Sri Lankan authorities to take decisive action to tackle human rights abuses, to guarantee
press freedom and to disarm paramilitary groups in Government controlled areas. The EU
views with concern the draft ‘Prohibition of Forcible Conversions’ bill.
7. The EU underlines the importance of the Sri Lankan authorities to cooperate in the GSP+
investigation into the effective implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and
Political Rights, the Convention against Torture and the Convention on the Rights of the
Child."

My Opinion
1.Sri Lanka government is complying with International Humanitarian Laws by minimizing civilian casualties. The reported casualties shown on some media are strategies of LTTE to initiate international community to intervene in Sri Lanka. All ethnic groups in Sri Lanka are battered from LTTE's terrorism for more than three decades and the present government is successfully eliminating all terrorist resources of LTTE in the North and East of Sri Lanka with minimum civilian casualties.
2.On this critical stage, a civilized body like EU should be helping Sri Lanka to accomplish its counter terrorism operations rather than forcing it for a ceasefire. It is the LTTE that use civilians as a shield to protect themselves from counter terrorism operations
3.IDPs are well taken care of by the authorities and could be personally witnessed by you on the ground.

4.We, Sri Lankans are surprised about double standards of EU on "War against Terrorism". One set of standards for Sri Lanka and another standard for EU & USA. I wonder why not EU and USA negotiate with Al-Quaeda instead countering terrorism.

5.This is the only conclusion which EU has taken in line with counter terrorism strategies.

6.These (grave violations of human rights, disappearances, extra-judicial killings, harassments, intimidations, and attacks on the media and human rights defenders and the climate of impunity) are terrorists’ tactics to degrade government on humanitarian laws and press freedom and to announce as a failed state to disguise the real picture or core issues. There are no civil wars without civilian casualties and investigations are taken place to bring justice to victims’ families.

7.We, Srilankans are more concerned about sovereignty and elimination of terrorism than tax concessions lend by EU.

We hope European Union will respect dignity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of other nations and states in the same way they safeguard its own member states.

We invite EU to lend hands to Sri Lanka to counter terrorism rather than lobbying with terrorists!

This is a struggle that is still evolving; a battle lost or won does not define the war. And you do not have to fight on the field, or carry guns, to wage a war. We Tamils will continue to struggle.

For Tamils, the LTTE's politico-economic leadership role has been significantly marginalized. Perhaps for the better-ultimately they proved a brutal regime, no less rabid than their Sinhala counterparts.

But, the LTTE had a useful role in (a) Carrying the struggle as long as they did and, (b)In their very demise, forcing the mainstream Sinhala population into a nationalist/confrontational stance that will resonate for generations.

No doubt there will be lessons learned by Tamils ho wish to continue down the path of the gun. I personally, have never been a supporter of violence, and will not support it in the future. We will rely, instead, on Sinhala chauvinism to perpetrate this divide even further; there is enough evidence here to suggest that we will not be disappointed!

Ironically, the Sinhala majority itself will lay the seed for the next phase of the Tamil people's struggle.

Chamikara Weerasinghe

The Central Environment Authority has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with an inventor to convert the world’s most daunting environmental problem of plastic waste into petrol in a Rs 100 million project.

The project will be introduced under the Authority’s National Waste Management Program.

Ananda Vithanage, a resident from Yatiyantota is the inventor of the technology for converting plastic waste into fuel. He had formerly served the Police department, Central Environment Authority (CEA) sources said.

CEA Director General Pasan Gunasena said the conversion technology has been sanctioned by the Chemical Engineering Unit of the Moratuwa University as correct and commercially viable.

The Authority plans to set up a mini- conversion plant at Yatiyantota at a cost of Rs. 12 million to process polythene and plastic waste to generate fuel under the pilot project, he said.

CEA Chairman Udaya Gammanpila said the country will be able to save a lot of foreign exchange once the project gets underway.

He said the project is expected to produce 500 to 1000 litres of fuel per day."

80% of us are Sinhalese and we shouldn't get distracted by our mission when a Tamil comes here and distract us.

If you see Tamils trying to pull us in to the war, just ignore them. Don't waste your time addressing their concerns unless they wants to be part of our mission.

ZERO OSCARS FOR M.I.A.

In many of her interviews she has acted as a self acclaimed spokesperson trying to justify the terrorism in Sri Lanka. But despite being a mother of two children, she failed to speak one word against the recruitment of under age children by the LTTE. Since "Paper Planes" was nominated for an Oscar, MIA has avoided all interviews that could embarrass her by bringing up such uncomfortable topics as her father's reputed connections to terrorism. Further it could create problems for her US residence Visa.

The US journalist Ru Freeman was quoted as saying "if MIA is to get an Oscar this year, then Bin Laden should also be nominated for an Oscar next year". Therefor the Oscar Jury was absolutely right in their decision to award "Jai Ho" as the best film song at the Oscar.

Actually, you have come to the wrong conclusion as a result of visting DW.

You see here Patriots being exuberant in their support for the motherland and supporting the war through to complete victory, but if you have been around long enough, you will also see that nearly all of them espouse the idea of EQUAL RIGHTS AND EQUAL RESPONSIBILITIES for ALL CITIZENS of Sri Lanka.

You will also see the crystallization of opinion here against any ETHNICITY-based devolution of power.

If you truly love freedom, and want that for ALL people...not just your own... why would you not want to discard old tribal customs based on ethnicity and embrace a single Sri Lankan identity?

What more more would you ask, and receive, from a democracy?

That may be so. I doubt it.

I do not claim perfection, and I dislike the LTTE actively (I have never contributed to it in any way), but only base my belief on what I have seen as the evidence of my eyes and ears (second hand some of it), these past fifty years.

The successful state that successfully embraces all minorities gives ample opportunities for those minorities to grow.

I freely admit that Sri Lanka can be such a successful state, but to do that it will have to actively integrate the minority in a way that will strain its resources - psychological resources most of all.

Thus for instance - can you see a Tamil Lt General in the SLA in the next decade? A stronger cadre of Tamil officers in the SLA in the next 5 years? How about the very top reaches of the bureaucracy? Science? Business? These are just few examples.

You see, integration means a lot of acceptance from the majority in terms of tangible results, and I doubt if that will happen successfully. Of course people will try, I do not deny that.

What the Sri Lankan government fails to understand is that technology is advancing daily, and it is only a matter of months or years before nuclear devices become available to suppressed people around the world. If the Sri Lankan government chooses not to settle this dispute peacefully they will create hatred amongst the Tamil people , resulting in future rebels, and as technology becomes available it is inevitable that Colombo will face a terrible technological attack one day.

Colombo is located just a few dozen kilometers from Tamil Nadu. It would not be difficult for a terrorist to fly a plane over Colombo and detonate a nuclear device. But this is what the Sri Lankan government is inevitably bringing to their people. By trying to destroy the LTTE, who are actually synonymous with the Tamil people, they are creating hatred amongst the future Tamil generations. As time goes on, and technology advances, the inevitable result will be the first nuclear terrorist attack in the world over Colombo. This is the reasonable projection as you map the future increases of hatred and technological advancement.

Such a terrorist strike does not require an organization or a rebel movement. It simply requires a single person filled with hatred nurtured by suppression and violence perpetrated against an innocent race. This is not a threat or a warning, but a prophecy. Unless the Sri Lankan government negotiates a peaceful conclusion to this war, there will inevitably be a bleak and dark future for the people of Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankan government views Prabhakaran as their greatest enemy, but they don't realize he is actually their greatest friend. It is because of the presence of Prabhakaran that there is order to the chaos in Sri Lanka. He brings complete discipline and one-mindedness to the Tamil fighters, which enables the Sri Lankan government to negotiate with a single entity. Without a central leader the rebel movements will split up, giving freedom to hardliners and fanatics. Even though the government tries to project Prabhakaran as a blood thirsty terrorist, the facts are he has for the most part avoided targeting Sinhalese civilians in the last decade. For example, the LTTE could easily have exploded tank bunds across the country in hundreds of Sinhalese villages resulting in tens of thousands of deaths. The LTTE could easily have targeted unprotected Sinhalese villages throughout the country, but they haven't. The LTTE could have easily targetted commericial international aircraft, but they haven't. In otherwords the LTTE could have actually been the terrorists that the government accuses them of being, but they chose not too because their leader had a different vision.

If the LTTE were to lose that sole leader, it is inevitable that there will be all sorts of splinter groups forming, some of which will be fanatically terroristic and wanting to take revenge against the Sinhalese people. In that situation there will be no one to negotiate with to bring about a peace between the Tamils and Sinhalese. We can see the example of Palestine and Israel. Despite negotiating ceasefires with the supposed "leaders" in palestine, still missiles are fired daily into Israel because there is no absolute leader amongst the palestinian resistance groups. This allows the fanatical elements amongst them to act without any checks or balances. In this context, Prabhakaran is actually the best thing there is for Sri Lanka, because he commands absolutely discipline from his followers and provides a single point of negotiations for the Sri Lankan government with the Tamil people.

Thus for instance - can you see a Tamil Lt General in the SLA in the next decade? A stronger cadre of Tamil officers in the SLA in the next 5 years? How about the very top reaches of the bureaucracy? Science? Business? These are just few examples.

If Lakshman Kadirgarmar had survived, with the great credibility he gained among the Sinhala people in fighting to keep Sri Lanka united in the face of the LTTE threat, he could have become the Premier, or the President of the Country. But, that was not to be, because of the LTTE.

This separatist war has sown a deep distrust between the two communities, that did not exist 30 years ago. For a Tamil leader to be accepted by the Sinhala majority, either he/she will have to have demonstrated loyalty and commitment to a united Sri Lanka as Kadirgarmar did, or another 30 years of healing will have to pass before a Tamil Obama emerges to unify all of the people. But I do expect many Tamil politicians to serve as Cabinet Ministers, as they have since 1948. Furthermore, if you are living in Sri Lanka now, you will know that many of the top level bureacrats/officials in Sri Lanka in non-military positions are Tamils, and this in a country that is engaged in a brutal war of survival with a separatist group!

Futhermore, given the separatist war and terrorism that has transpired, and is likely to continue at least for another 5 years at a low level of violence in Sri Lanka, it is quite unrealistic for you to expect that Tamil military officers will be fully trusted to become a part of the SLA, and rise to high rank in the next decade. That would be allowing the "fox to mind the chickens", wouldn't you say? Who would be so foolish? Certainly, that will not happen with the former cadre of the LTTE. With a few exceptions like Kadirgarmar, there were very few Tamil voices raised in support of successive Sri Lanka governments against separatism. All we heard was a chorus of approval for the separatists, and active anti- national unpatriotic behavior by the TNA MPs.

For comparison, did not the US Govt. dismiss all of the Baath party members in the aftermath of the conquest of Iraq? They have still not been restored to their positions of power by the Iraqi Govt. In another example, after the US Civil War, it took another 50 years for the former Confederates to be trusted again by the victorious Union government. None of the former officers of the US Army who took up arms for the CSA were restored to rank in the US Army after the war. Many who had committed atrocities during the war, especially those who ran concentration camps in which tens of thousands of Union prisoners were starved and tortured to death, were tried and executed, as was quite fitting and proper.

Unlike the discrimination against African-Americans in the US that Obama is helping to heal, this division between the Sinhala and Tamil people is largely a self-inflicted wound, inflicted on their own community by the Tamil separatist groups acting out their racist aspirations that culminated in war. The oft chanted claims of discrimination in education were largely pretexts, not factual. This conflict was driven by a mistaken reading of the Sinhala mindset, Tamil cultural pride exacerbated by the military weakness of Sri Lanka, and the help obtainable from Tamil Nadu. All of that has now come to nought.

The Sinhala majority, formerly focused on overcoming poverty, illiteracy and other societal ills, is now convinced that security is a necessary pre-requisite for the next leap forward to prosperity. An integral part of the Sinhala mindset I spoke of before, is a commitment to tolerance, compassion and nondiscrimination against minorities, but now determined to not tolerate being threatened and blackmailed for unequal rights by a militant groups ever again.

So be assured, our fellow Tamil citizens will be treated fairly, and will participate fully in the fruits of the country in the coming years, but no more and no less than any of the other native communities of Sri Lanka.

All groups attempting to setup private fiefdoms in liberated areas, and indeed in any part, of the country, are going to be severely disappointed. However, those people who want to live as equal citizens of one free resplendent land will be ecstatic. Only those who are still nursing dreams of glory in a racist, apartheid Tamil-only Eelam stolen by force from other native Sri Lankans, will be incurably disappointed. We will not weep for them.

A bright and prosperous future is dawning for ALL Sri Lankans; it is up to each of us to set aside negative thoughts and selfish politics to seize this golden opportunity, to join hands and work towards achieving our destiny as one people.

FirstGen Tamils had a good life in independent Sri Lanka which the SecondGen Tamils lost. Let us create a shared bright future for the ThirdGen Tamils and ALL other Sri Lankans.

I know where Tamil Nadu is. There is no problem in Tamil Nadu because there is power sharing and federalism. But the problem is Sri Lanka's majority is too frightened to share their power in a federal system.

This fear is OK. Their politicians did very bad things and now people are scared.

How about trying out federalism for 2 years? If you guys like it it can stay. Otherwise we will talk about another solution. I'm sure you will love it after 2 years. No war. No attacks on villages. We want everyone to live happily and peacefully.

When a federal system is put in place, LTTE becomes irrelevant. Tamil people will chase the LTTE. Without people's support LTTE cannot survive. LTTE is a business and some Tamils invest in it. If Sri Lanka can show us a better way to invest we will love it. We don't want the LTTE, we want Sri Lanka.

To be fair Sri Lanka should do something for us allowing us to invest billions of dollars safely. We are waiting. Sivanesan,

The population of Sri Lanka is slightly less than the major metro areas of India. Also, the Indian union is organized around linguistic units. People in Sabaragamuwa speak the same language as the people in the South or NCP. We have no regional linguistic differences within communities.

One of the trends in post independent India has been for states to break up into even more smaller units. In 1970, the north eastern region of India was one state. Today it is seven states.

Also, imagine giving police powers to these local units after having an armed terrorist movement for the last 25 years. It is a dangerous recipe and a formula for disaster.

The provincial council system in Sri Lanka is testimony to the waste of resources and dysfuntion that results from devolving power to local governments in a small country.

Dear Sivanesan,

I hate to tell you, but no deal. No federalism even for 2 seconds. That foolishness, thank god, is over for good.

Here is the deal: Equal Rights and Equal Responsibilities as Sri Lanka Citizens in one country with one people. That is it, Nothing else.

BTW, with regard to Tamil Nadu. Both India and Tamil Nadu are unholy messes. Even as we speak, there are 13 major insurgencies in India threatening to breakup the Indian Union.

The leaders of Tamil Nadu, beloved of the LTTE, such as Vaiko, Thirumalavan, Ramadoss and Karunanidhi are firm believers in an independent Tamil Nadu. So, I really don't think federalism is working there either, and time will soon tell whether Tamil Nadu will be the first state to secede from India. I am certain the LTTE Diaspora on the Greater Dravidian Nation bandwagon will be ecstatic.

But that is not all, there is further slicing of Tamil Nadu on the way too. This guy Ramadoss wants a "Vanniar Only" state carved out of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh..he can't stand non-Vannyar Tamils. Oh, did I tell you about the Tamil Brahmins...yup, they can't stand the Dalits...apparently does not want them to get an education...they are cracking heads with lathis at college entrances. There is now a call for a Quota system to ensure access to universities by the Brahmin Tamils. Also, the Moslerms in Tamil Nadu just formed a party to fight for their liberation from the Hindus...looks like we will have to implement federalism on a STILL FINER scale...don't you think?

Anyway, I just got carried away with the spiel above, if only to show you that Indian Federalism is not the all encompassing super intelligent solution to all of India's ills that its cracked up to be. In fact, it is just the first step on the way to the dissolution of India back to a collection of Princely states...so sad. Only Kumari Mayawati, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, held out the hope that there was at least one Obama-like unifying politician left in India, having assassinated Mahatma Gandhi at the very get go.

Anyway, let us not import any of India's diseases into Sri Lanka. We caught a deadly pneumonia the last time they enforced a "political solution" on Sri Lanka and advanced hurriedly to the rear when nthe going got to be too tough.

Nope, FEDERALISM we don't need. Just plain old unitary state without ANY regional satrapies, EQUAL RIGHTS & EQUAL RESPONSIBILITIES for ALL Sri Lankans in one united nation of one Sri Lankan people. That is it.

Oh, by the way, about wars, attacks on the people, suicide bombers, ethnic cleansing, and all that good stuff...forget about it...those days are GONE; WE WILL TAKE CARE OF IT...don't worry your head about it. Sri Lanka will PROSPER very well beyond this point, with or without the RICH TAMIL money.

Now, about that Federalism thing, Oh No, No Thank you!

Lanka Truth,

Prabakaran is gradually become irrelevant to the equation. If we kill most of their hardcore cadres and capture all arms VP become nothing but a liability to the Tamil community. He will be killed by his own people for cruelties and atrocities committed. What we want is to take his power, men and material, completely out. Even if we get all civilians out he becomes nothing but nuisance to Tamils.

I have been corresponding occasionally with a south Indian gent who is a known political personality in his home state in India. I found his email address in the public domain, and I have written to him on several matters concerning Sri Lanka. He has always been very gracious with a response of some sort. He is not with the current Congress lead alliance that is ruling India so I was rather surprised to find him vigorously defending the Congress government on the matter that I alluded to (see excerpts from my letter). This leads me to wonder whether he is defending his country's policies to a foreigner (very likely)or whether there is a political realignment going on in TN in anticipation of the Lok Sabha elections in India. The AIDMK Leader, Jayalalitha, was recently quoted as saying that India Gandhi was like a mother to her. It may be a hint that she is open to an alliance with the Congress Govt. The DMK lead Govt of TN has been a curse on Sri Lanka with Karunanidhi openly supporting the LTTE. Any change in TN can only be favorable to Sri Lanka.

This is my letter to this gent:

Dear XXXX,

I would like to draw your attention to a series of statements coming
from India last week, attributed to Mr. Pranab Mukerjee, that have
left the Sri Lanka public perplexed and dismayed.

Earlier last week, Mr. Pranab Mukerjee, made a statement in the
Indian parliament indicating that the LTTE is a terrorist organization and that they are largely responsible for the misery of Sri Lankan Tamils during the last thirty years. His courageous statement received a lot of positive press in Sri Lanka. I believe there was an uproar
among the LTTE supporters in India who called on him to withdraw that
statement.

Later last week, as the privately-owned Sunday Times newspaper of Sri Lanka puts it, Mr. Mukerjee did a complete sumersault. In the aftermath of the LTTE's suicide aircraft attacks on Colombo, Mr
Mukerjee called for negotiations between the Govt of Sri Lanka and the LTTE to resolve their differences. Yesterday, Mr. Mukerjee was interviewed by a TV reporter on India Times Now who solicited his views on Pakistan's Govt entering into a permanent ceasefire with the Taliban in the Swat Valley. In that interview Mr.Mukerjee said "India is very concerned about the situation and that India does not negotiate with terrorists." The inherent contradictions in Mr.
Mukerjee's changing position throughout last week have not gone
unnoticed in Sri Lanka.

In fact, prior to Mr. Mukerjee's last official visit to Sri Lanka, the Indian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Mr. Alok Prasad, renewed the
extradition request for Prabhakaran and the two other accused in the Rajiv Gandhi murder. In view of Mr. Mukerjee's contradictory statements, most Sri Lankans doubt whether the Indian Government is truly interested in getting Prabhkaran for crimes he has committed against India.

With the war in Sri Lanka winding down, India could play a role
in helping Sri Lanka in spheres of economic development. Nevertheless, in order to play any role in Sri Lanka, the Government of India needs to have a clearly articulated and uniform
policy regarding the LTTE.

..................

With very best wishes to you.

Sri Lanka is surrounded by some powerful regional vultures. On top of that we are right smack in the middle of the major East to West shipping lines where we can dictate most of the worlds trades if we have the capability to do so. So on top of the regional vultures, we are now getting the attention of some heavy weight Western Hyenas. The path we have taken under MR is better than most of the other ponnays (RW is a pathetic surprise.) We should serve that treacherous morbid gay bastard with all of the “Dasa wadaya” from our ancient kings. And the RW gay ponnaya might actually have an orgasm when the wooden pike pierces his ass. He is the lowest level Sri Lankan Idiot the country has ever produced. He mother must have been a LTTE open toilet pit because no woman can own a bastard like him to be a son. We should export him to the West with all the Die-Ass-Tamil-Parayas and may be we might be lucky to earn some foreign exchange in return.

RW and the UNP CO. If you are reading, You are the lowest level mfs our country has ever produced. We have some white vans and a waiting room to look after you after the war.

MR has played well the vultures against the hyenas. When we eliminate the Tamil terrorist threat, we have to maintain a strong Army, Navy and Air force so that no bloody hyenas are ever going to dictate terms to us. We have to be strong like Israel so that we can dictate terms to others.

Moshe Dyan said...

israel is strong bcos US backs it when required.

OTOH US gains from israel's existence. even countries like saudi, egypt, jordan are US friendly in fear of israel (and each other!!).

similarly SL needs a big boy to stand behind it. china is the obvious choice. SL is VERY immportant to china. (than we are useful for the US, rusia, france, israel, germany, UK) we must make the move secretly.

have a name-sake chinese military base here and most interfering arseholes will be out.

china has the highest growth in defence spending. we can get a small fraction of it, if we are with them.

Moshe Dayan, Sinhale, totally agree. There are lot of fuckers who destroyed our country past few years. Our biggest enemy is not Tamils, but Sinhalese. We definitely should continue white wans to wipe out people who are a security threat to the nation. Any one can critize the govt. but not in a way that harm National Security. Look at the Bitch Chandrika. It should not be based on a party (Although most of UNP are culprits) but based on National Security threat.

China is a good choise because they are a strong nation and they tend to be loyal (Correct me if I am wrong). But we don't want communism and that type of shit coming in to the equation. But if we do that, we will have to be very careful about India as they would be very concerned about the national security threat posed by China to them.
Therefore we need a Very tight balancing act here. It is good for us to make sure that India feels secure, otherwise India will do their best to destabilize our nation.

I don't think Tamil Tadu will seperate from India as they are a very divided people themselves.

Also we should try to keep defence personel talking to press directly as we seem to do more harm by doing this. Likewise, very soon the LTTE cadre in the uncleared area of the Wanni will say "there are no LTTE cadre here...we are all civilian prisoners!"

Enough is enough

Lets set the record right .Since there is 03 generations of lies propagated by the opportunistic Tamils. This conflict was never about discrimination since by and large discrimination never existed among the ordinary people of sri Lanka .This is all about elite tamils loosing there prefered status conferred on them by the british and the cast system. The bait was mythical tamil ealam Unfortunately the so called low cast tamils become the cat's paw this is still a stuggle of elite tamils of jaffna faought by the misguided youth who are supposed to be ( Majority of them ) so called low cast tamils [The cast system is still very strong among tamils]

The following are a few which they make a huge cry about but all base less accusations blown out of proportion to suit their ealam concept.

Ealam concept contrary to the popular belief this has its roots as far back as 1922 and is a offshoot of the great dravidian nation mindset of certain tamils which is a superiority complex which arises out of an inferiority complex(just do a google search on these two terms and most of the behavioral patterns of these monkeys can be explained)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superiority_complex
http://www.stopdepressiontoday.com/stop-your-inferiority-complex-now.html

lets examine few of the cries of tamil elamists

In 1956 the Sinhala Only Act was introduced completely discriminating Tamils.

Sinhala only act? Correction”The name is Official Language Act No 33 of 1956 which made Sinhala The official language of Sri lanka removing English . and sinhala was the language used by apx 75% of the citizens of SL at that time

Why was Tamils complaining of some thing they never had what was the official language before 1956. English so if you find it fit to learn English why can’t you learn Sinhala being the language of the majority .and this was implemented only for the state service not for the private sector why the fuss .USA has a Spanish community, Canada has a large Tamil Community, and do you work in your own language. This act has nothing to do with Tamil it was created to take out the power wielded by English Speaking people who were a mere fraction at that time. But due to the divide & rule policy of the briitsh Tamils were given preference in govt. opportunities you lost that. Does India consider Tamil as its official language although it has millions of Tamils .Just because a particular community, a dialect has a geographical concentration it is not a reason to make it an official language .Well we have done that too what more are you asking.

In 1958 Mr SWRD Bandaranayake (a great statesman) identified the problem and drafted a federal solution using his exceptional intellectual ability and exceptional foresight. But the Sangha and extremists managed to stop it.

The elam concept was already in force by this time. The Tamil Elam concept was inaugurated by Sir Ponnambalam Arunachalam in 1922. Extracts from his speech to The Ceylon tamil league as the founder of the same
“It has far higher aims in view, namely to keep alive and propagate these precious ideals throughout Ceylon, Southern India and the Tamil Colonies, to promote the union and solidarity of Tamilakam, the Tamil Land.
We should keep alive and propagate these ideals throughout Ceylon and promote the union and solidarity of what we have been proud to call Tamil Eelam.
Then 1931 the 50-50 demand by GG ponnambalam when the sinhalease consists of 65% of the population .Lackily this was rejected by the Donoughmore Commission What is the need for federal because it can be a stepping stone for elam luckily it was stopped if not the mythical state of elam would have being a reality dividing thisland on ethnic lines.
.

In 1972 standardization was implemented and this discriminated Tamils beyond belief. Northern province offers little opportunities and education is everything. You take it away from Tamils and they will not have any livelihood left.

Another load of crap Standerdization discriminated tamils how? This was brought in to give a equal opportunity for all in education .Due to this students coming from areas where there are good educational facilities needed to score more .True jaffna students needed to score more marks simply due to better educational facilities there. then again students fron batticola ,vaunia & trincomalee, mannar got the benefit in the same way students from Colombo has to score more marks than the students from nuwaraeliya there was no racical discrimination don’t lie

1983 July riots (Black July)
Ordinary sinhala people were never a part of this and this was not instigated by the sinhala majority but by a few thugs then why is tamil community holding the 83 riots against the sinhalease. Riots were bad I never condone it but let me brief you about the situation in 83 by that time the sri lankan Millitary was more of a ceremonial nature and did not have the capability of rapid deployment island wide unlike today further the numbers were not adequate so it was a logistical nightmare to do a large scale mobilization so by the time the military was mobilized and the situation was brought under control the damage was done.

There was a separate Tamil Kingdom in Jaffna extending to parts of Wanni and parts of the East.Of course it is not as old as Anurathapura, Polonnarawa but it was there when the Europeans arrived.

Kingdom ??? You call it a kingdom when there is a clear administrative structure, A monetary system, Law and order and there is conscious efforts by the ruler to uplift the living standards of its subjects .There are state sponsored development initiatives .developed cities , Are any of these present in the so called mythical jaffna kingdom .strangely NO not a single archaological evidence to substantiate this do you know why this is only a rough rule and none of the people ever considered this as their homeland they were temporary settlers here for various reasons and their attachment in mind & sole was to tamilnadu where there is enough evidence of the rise and development of the tamil people and the tamil nation

From 1948 onwards governments colonised the North & East deliberately changing the ethnic composition. There are enough land in Sinhala areas. Let people come, don't bring them forcefully.

Colonization my foot .This is a utter lie please read
'State aided colonization' - Facts and Fiction
By: Ceil .D. Dharmasena - (Retired Deputy Director of the department of Agriculture and former Director of environment authority and Mahawali Authority) http://www.defence.lk/new.asp?fname=20060720_04

The land belong to to the state unless you have the title to it so the state decide the best economic use of it

We have no problem with Sinhala majority in Sinhala areas. Similarly let Tamils run the Tamil majority areas in one country. Isn't it fair?

What is the governance you want
We( The central government) reserve the rights to The foreign policy, Defense & Police , judiciary and the territorial waters of Sri lanka

If Tamils are given a governance responsibility they will feel they are part of Sri Lanka

If not for this Terrorism and LTTE eliminating tamil leaders we could have seen a tamil prime minister in Hon. Lakshman Kadiragamar & Hon. Jeyaraj .Fernandopulle Don’t blame the sinhalease for the mistakes of others

If reasonable devolution is given allowing Tamils the right to make laws, manage lands, administer policing in their areas

The answer is NO .There should be no devolution on ethnic lines why should there be a devolution of power to 10% of the people in a country (Current status of the tamil population is apx 7%-10%)then what about the rest of the people. Is there any thing that the ordinary tamil people donot have that an ordinary citizen of Sri Lanka have .This discrimination story is all cock and bull

Apart from Kadir no Tamil was given such very high office.

This is another lie every government office have tamils working in the senior management if im to compile a list this space would be not enough ( talk to public administration department they have the details )ewhich could be well above the ethnic ratio what dose it tell appointments are based on merit. But there is a problem due to the war the entire education structure of North and east did not function as intended so dont blame the rest of the country blame the LTTE the long standing repercussions of this will be felt by the tamils in future due to a scarcity of educated & qualified tamil intellectuals

If a federal solution is given the Tamil diaspora will not have any demands. They will invest in Sri Lanka.

Who cares about the demands of tamil diaspora those who funded terrorism will be followed up and dealt with accordingly as per the law the necessary legislation is already in place.

The whole world has agreed that a federal solution will work.

There is no ethnic problem here in Sri Lanka So there is no need of a federal solution the provincial system is more than adequate to tackle the every day problems of the citizens of this country if the elected people are suitable.Any solution should be exceptable to Sri Lankans here the world opinion is secondary and has has minimal impact on a sustainable action.

For the second time, the bloggers have answered you decently here.

Not because I (like some here, it seems like) believe in your 'decent' pretense, which we have seen a lot lately, but because of purely rhetorical reasons, I'd have this humble request from you:

PLEASE READ what has been written as answers to your purpoted "questions". UNDERSTAND the, and ADDRESS THE POINTS rather than repeating the broken record "tamils have a problem, federal is the solution" or appealing to (baseless) emotions such as Shavendra Silva's religion.

Tell us what's your problem is, rather than saying "tamils have been mistreated" and claiming that you cannot trust us, and asking immediately for us to give up our distrust on Tamils. As long as you cannot forget 83, we will not forget the 13 army guys that were killed, Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya, Temple of Tooth etc. Don't just try to get away saying that they were the works of LTTE. If there was any significant public Tamil condemnation on such acts, you could have bagged half of this "trust" that you have to beg us for. So don't please drag the past and say you cannot trust the Sinhalas.

Back to the question: don't talk about the past: talk about the present and talk about what problems you have right now, and how federalism is going to answer these specific problems. For instance, how the tamils in wellawatta are going to benefit from problems they have right now when there's a Tamil state in North.

I don't think you'd listen to me. Probably you pretend that you don't see the answers, and repeat your recording. More likely, you'd vanish for a few days and come back again and say that your "problems" haven't been answered and claiming that shows that the only solution is federal.

So there is no discrimination, no special problems for Tamils and we are only dreaming?

Then why more than 100K people died? Come on, if the problems were mythical as you try to say, people won't die in large numbers over mythical problems.

Then why moderate Tamil leaders (V Anandasangaree, A Amirthalingam, Thanthai Chelva, N THiruchelvan) demand federalism and why moderate Singhala leaders (though they had shortcomings) (Bandaranayaka, Kumaratunga, Wickremasinghe, Jayawardana, Karunaratna, Vasutheva, Vijeya) also supported federalism?

Only Premadasa, Wijethunga, Rajapaksa didn't give a federal solution. All educated Singhala leaders tried federal solution.

Why too much extremism only in Sri Lanka?

We don't belong to Tamil Nad. It is part of India. We are Sri Lankans. Why can't you accept us as Sri Lankans? Why do you always tell us to go to Tamil Nad when ever you get angry?

We learn English, Frensh, German, ect and settle down in foreign countries. But why should we learn Sinhala to settledown in our own country?
We don't force you to learn Tamil.

We have an ethnic problem in Sri Lanka. Everyone agrees. Without giving a solution to the Tamils as a community the ethnic problem cannot be solved.

Tamil extremists hijacked Tamil politics for so long and now Singhala extremists have joined them. This way we can never find a solution. It is like a see-saw. When one goes down, the other goes up. Always problems.

Dear Dinky Winky,

----------
If you are a Sri Lankan, why ask for federalism. Accept equal rights. Equal rights for every body. In the west, people don't ask to be specially treated because you are a special ethinic group. So why do you ask us treat you guys specially. Any Sri lankan should be able to go anywhere in the country and do any thing they want. Not just Tamils.

Maybe past presidents might have thougth a federal solution is good. Buy current people don't think that way as you seem to be a threat for our national security.

Some people ask why there aren't no tamils in the army. The reason is we cannot trust you. As you knnow there are muslims in the army. So you should figure why we don't have trust in Tamils. So if you want to be in the army one day make sure that you show passion about the country without considering your ethnicity.

Dinky Winky,

Good answers.

Mate, I wrote couple of days ago, every action proposed to correct the subjugation/injustice of/to non-English speaking voiceless Sinhala masses over half a millennium of colonial power was interpreted by separatist Tamil politicians as the acts of discrimination against Tamils. That is a fallacy.

However, there is no evidence as to - what these elite Tamils of English speaking background who lived like Suddas have ever done to alleviate the sufferings of the voiceless cast ridden Tamil majority at the time either.

Yet, they managed to hoodwink Tamil masses to believe discrimination by Sinhalese simply to drive their agenda of “separatism”. They still do.

We are talking about a period where missionary schools and schools dedicated for do-to-well people had a monopoly of higher education from both sides. Standardisation, which was put to serve both marginalised schools were also taken out of context by the Tamil politicians as well as the English speaking Sinhala elites, although their interests were not to send their kids to local universities. I do not know how many of readers remember, even there were no science books written in native languages widely accessible until mid 70’s.

In that respect marginalised masses from both sides shared the same grievances and inequalities yet managed to blow each other in a big way. I feared, being a Sinhalese, Sinhalese were at the loosing end. But as the events unfolded exposing the damage this ideology of Ealam (fuelled by handful of LTTE maniacs funded by Tamil Diaspora) has brought upon voiceless Tamil masses – I feel Sri Lankan Tamils are on a mission of self-induced destruction. Quite possibly they will keep on blaming Sinhalese.

If the next phase of the grand agenda comes to play, i.e. greater Dravidian crap and World Tamil movement dream, these very people will have to bear the brunt to realise that dream of well-to-do western living Tamils constituencies.

In my view, isn’t it quite ironic that cycle has returned a full cycle?

1922 – 2009 – Tamil Ealam – almost a millennium of work
2009 – 3009 – World Tamil Dream

Well, Sri Lankan Tamil brothers and sisters, choice is yours.

>>> All educated Singhala leaders tried federal solution.

This only confirms why we don't trust you. See the superiority complex that reeks from the above statement of yours. The "educated" Sinhalese support your idea. In other words, the Sinhalese who don't support you are "uneducated" (or stupid?).

And you still claim of humbleness??? That definition of humbleness isn't any different from Wijayapala's classification of who is decent.

>>> Why can't you accept us as Sri Lankans?

why don't you consider yourself as Sri Lankans like Muslims do and live in unitary Sri Lanka? Care to explain which problems Tamils have that muslims don't?

>>> We don't force you to learn Tamil.

fair enough. Learn tamil and live in Sri Lankan unitary state.

>>> We have an ethnic problem in Sri Lanka. Everyone agrees.

no. what childish dream is this?

>>> Without giving a solution to the Tamils as a community the ethnic problem cannot be solved.

Your problem is separatism and superiority complex of not wanting to accept democracy and majority choice. otherwise, tell is what the so-called "ethnic problem" is without repeating your broken record.

>>> Tamil extremists hijacked Tamil politics for so long

and the "educated" tamils were silent, waiting behind the scene to reap the benefits once the "extremists" do their thing. And the thing went out of control, and the "educated" tamils were the first to get hurt. Now that the "extremists" are ending, you come back to square one and try a different approach.
