Soodiya regiment must mean that when they are captured, they provide a good soodiya to the captors...
Defencewire,
How could a operation is defined as limited or otherwise?
What would be the main focus of this limited operation in Mannar? Killing more LTTE terrorits ? Destroying LTTE gunpoints?
Or capturing some stratergical locations.?
I don't know to whom I'm answering here but here goes,
A limited offensive is as opposed to an all-out offensive where an entire division or several divisions of the army will be deployed on an offensive at a given time. In a limited offensive, several units or at the most, a regiment will be deployed.
The objective of this offensive seems short-term, to destroy LTTE assets (including heavy guns), fortifications and fighting formations ahead of a major offensive.
We cannot comment on the overall strategy yet.
defenceW,
What is the new position of the FDL?
Any graphics????
We havn't created an FDL in Mannar yet. The 4,6 and 8 man teams involved in the operation are likely to set the stage for further advancements. This is an offensive posture, not defensive. Therefore in the limited term, no FDLs have been built. Since the location of these units is clandestine to avoid artillery strikes, their positions aren't given away.
I can understand that. Hopefully we can penetrate deep into their territory before going defensive.
I WISH OUR BOYS THE BEST OF LUCK.
GO ON LIONS. KILL THOSE TIGERS.
Thank you Defencewire !!!!
You are welcome!
