Tamil Selvan Killed- 2nd Lead

LTTE Leader Paying Last Respects to Suppayya Paramu Tamilchelvan (Tamil Selvan)

The Leader of the LTTE's Political Wing S.P. Tamil Selvan has been killed in an Air Force Raid on his residence in Kilinochchi this morning. Six other cadres from the Military Wing, including Lt. Col Alex, Tamil Selvan's personal Bodyguard and several close protection 'officers' were also killed in the raid this morning.

Originally from the Military Wing, Selvan was a close confidante of Pripaharan since 1980. Although he was in charge of the political wing, Selvan was primarily a military man performing numerous military functions along side the usual political activities. In fact Tamil Selvan was in charge of military duties in the general area Pooneryn. He is originally from Chavakachcheri, which is situated adjacent to Pooneryn, which made him a natural selection in coordinating military activities in Pooneryn. The Sri Lanka Army was monitoring his movements for several months. The Air Force was given coordinants to a residence Selvan used during his stay in Kilinochchi. The attack was conducted when Selvan returned from his military duties to Kilinochchi. His loss would be felt very strongly by the LTTE as Selvan had become the 'human face' of the LTTE internationally.

Meanwhile LTTE renagade leader Karuna has been arrested in London for possessing a fradulent passport bearing a Sinhala name. He is due to be deported to Sri Lanka. His wife and family are currently residing in Scotland.

MOD, the armed forces of Sri Lanka,

This is good news. We have to take many great steps like this to finish LTTE. However good this news is, don't loose the sight of the original plan. Yet, capitalizes any gains we made from this attack (psy ops). Stay on the course. Execute the plan methodically. Don't rush. Never let our guard down. We have lots of big fish to fry.

Great Gota,

Let's take them one by one!

Thanks Perein,

We should expect LTTE bombing raid on a millitary target even tonight...

I would say they will retaliate after the funerals....

Hope SLDF keeps an eagle eye on this issue...

Civilians should organise night petrols on vital installations throughout the country...

However that could lead to some other security issues too..

Any way we got to be ready for everything now...

This is just a thought...

Sam Perera said...

tangara,

You are absolutely right. We should anticipate and take precautionary measures against any attacks against our military and civilians now. This will get Mad Velu's neurons further twisted. We have to anticipate some mass killing of civilians now. Lets protect us.

Renegade! said...

er..eranga,'GREAT GOTA!',I DON'T THINK SO.IT WAS OUR SLAF BOYS who did the mission without any help from-great gota!they don't need him for that!.

Guys,we should target the head of the snake by such air-strikes..next,go for their elite brigades-charles anthony, imran pandiyan, leopard, victor,HQ leaders,like-pottu,soosai,etc..,

Renegade! said...

guys,i know this is off-topic,but did former prez CBK secretly arrange to have prabha's daughter taken out of the country(to the UK,i suppose)? for her studies..

perein said...

My guess is, they wont try anything soon. Will try to defend Wanni and for few weeks.
Then may target something major. Therefore we should educate all civilian to during now and keep eye on all possible places/events.

Guys this is the day after the death of the pilot Paul Tibbets, Jr. best known for being the pilot of the Enola Gay, the first aircraft to drop an atomic bomb.

I wonder down the history lane whether one day a Sri Lanka Airforce Pilot would be known for delivery the lethal blow to kill TC !

This unnamed pilot is one of the heros of this great air strike. Well done to the boys who supplied the intel too !

Well done comrades !

GoldenEagle said...

The LTTE will try to carry out some kind of attack to prop up the mood of the diaspora.

Riff
SLAF have and has had great pilots over the years...
There were great pilots flying old puccaras for CAS missions, some great helo pilots... Remember the pilots who landed inside Jafna fort when it was under siege amidst heavy enemy fire... Sadly we don't do enough to use those acts of heroism... lots of people have forgotten what those heroes have done for this country...sad

RomeoAlphaFoxtrot said...

Ranil, I think we need to highlight their achievements in our media WITHOUT compromising their identity or security. Maybe once they retire.

This would add more value to their mission and great boast also for Air Force recruitment. And of course due National recognition for their successful missions !

Thank you all for sharing your feelings in Killing of our Brigadier Thamilchelvan. Every death of our soldiers known to make us stronger.

Don't worry, LTTE don't retaliate at random, but it will do it share at the right time and at the right place with minimum civilian casualties to achieve its objective.

Salute Brigadier Thamilchelvan, Lt. Col. Anpumani (Alex), Major Mikuthan, Major Neathaaji, Lt. Aadchiveal and Lt. Maavaikkumaran.

What puzzeled me the location of this attack?

TC is looking after the affairs in Punarin area and he was killed in Iranamadu area..

Several question arise that I don't have answers..
1).
Why TC risked his life to meet lower rankers of the LTTE for a meeting in Iranamadu?

2)..It is likely that TC was to meet some other high ranking LTTE's
in this meeting other than those killed ..Who were these other LTTE leaders meeting TC?

3)..What happened to those leaders ?

4)..Why LTTE was quick to announce these deaths?
Is that because they have high morale now , after AAB attack...
?

brigadier...... or barber am confused. In real military terms brigadier is known to be well experienced and educated officials (sometimes with a degree plus foreign training on various streams... DB u can add on here pls bcoz I have little knowledge about their qualifications ) but one thing is for sure . There is a big difference between a brigadier and a barber. (Think abt the individual roles mr ka valla n)

Kaavalan gave up himself to the forum...

mottapala said...

kaavalan,
I didn't quite understand when you said ' minimum civillian casualities'. Last time LTTE visited Anuradhapura they were just shooting 'only the civillians'. Perhaps they thought the A pura bus stand was a military camp and people in their sarongs and sarees were millitary personnel.

mottapala said...

Well said Tangara. He is so upset he simply forgot everything.

We are happy that finally tamil silva is dead. We are happier when people like kaavaln feels this way.

Whe I first visited Jaffna a long time ago it was more less in par with Colombo Or Kandy. Vibrant market place, excellent hospital, reputed university, and most of all good roads without pot holes unlike in Colombo. Jaffna penninsula probably has the best beaches in SL. If Jaffna developed with the same rate today it would have being much better than even Colombo. If the tamils stayed together they would have been the king makers of sri lankan politics anyway.

Somebody destroyed all this, even the future for the tamils. When would they understand that VP is not their saviour but the 'destroyer'.

Public face of Tamil Tigers

Thamilselvan shaking hands with Minister Nimal Siripala de silva at peace talks
Thamilselvan led LTTE's most recent peace delegations
Former BBC Colombo correspondent Frances Harrison who met head of LTTE political wing SP Thamilselvan on numerous occasions during the peace process looks back at who he was.

The thing that most people will remember about Thamilselvan is his huge smile.

For his enemies in this most bitter civil war the smile only masked his ruthlessness.

But for his friends he was a respected and popular fighter with a sense of humour.

Fighting IPKF

Thamilselvan joined the rebel movement in 1984 aged seventeen and was a key figure in fighting the Indian peace keeping force in the Jaffna peninsula where he was born.

Thamilselvan with a Ireland delegation
Thamilselvan led many LTTE delegations in and outside Sri Lanka

In 1993 he was injured in an ariel attack and had to have all the muscles from one leg removed leaving him unable to walk without a stick.

In this latest attack reports from Sri Lanka say Thamilselvan and five others were in a camp just four hundred metres away from the hospital in Kilinochchi - the main town in rebel territory and were killed by the pressure of the bomb blast which left their bodies otherwise unscathed.

LTTE's public face

For more than a decade Thamilselvan has been the public face of the Tigers - heading its political wing and attending almost all the peace talks with the Sri lankan government.

He's probably been interviewed more than any other politician in Sri Lanka - always appearing with two armed bodyguards.

He leaves behind a wife, an eight year old daughter and a son born four years ago during the heady days of the peace process when many rebels hoped for a better future.

Attack is the best defense. Those people who were observing sil including the bhikkus were members of the special forces who had just finished their SAS training in england.this is why they needed to be hacked to death. The sas had trained them to plead for their lives. They were about to invade tamil homes by sprouting wings and flying to killi acquiring fighting skills in flight.Actually Attack is the best defense we need to start a fund and collect money to hire some people to kill prominent LTTE members families living overseas...

Peacekeepers accused of abuse in Haiti

Fri Nov 2, 2007 6:40 PM GMT162

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - More than 100 Sri Lankan peacekeepers have been accused of sexual exploitation and abuse in Haiti and will be sent home on Saturday, the United Nations said, in the latest sexual abuse scandal involving U.N. peacekeeping missions.

U.N. spokeswoman Michele Montas said on Friday 108 of Sri Lanka`s 950 soldiers in Haiti were being sent home on disciplinary grounds.

`The United Nations and the Sri Lankan government deeply regret any sexual exploitation and abuse that has occurred,` Montas told reporters, adding that U.N. authorities were working to assist the victims.

Asked about the specific allegations against the peacekeepers, Montas said they involved `transactional sex.`

`There is a question of some underage girls,` she added.

Montas said Sri Lanka would take further action against those accused of abuse. `They are back under national jurisdiction. So far Sri Lanka has said ... that they are going to be prosecuted in Sri Lanka.`

Over the last few years as peacekeeping missions have expanded, reports of abuse have spread in various African nations, especially the Democratic Republic of the Congo, despite the U.N.`s declared `zero-tolerance` policy.

The United Nations largely ignored sexual exploitation by peacekeepers and other field staff for decades, launching a public crackdown only in recent years after reports of abuse surfaced in the Congo.

A 2005 U.N. report said soldiers should be punished for any sexual abuse, their pay docked and a fund set up to assist any women and girls they impregnated. But member nations have not agreed.

I have slight doubt that the accusation about the Sri Lankan soldiers could also be an LTTE set-up, similar to the complain that they have made to the British authorities about Karuna threatening them.

SLAF fighter jets need to acquire night-time precision bombing capability if they are to take out Praba et al. Note: he came out of hiding to 'pay his respects' (i know it's an oxymoron)at night. All bombing sorties still appear to be carried out exclusively during the hours of daylight.

Sam Perera said...

All,

Below is an excerpt of an analysis I saw in several pro-LTTE media about Anuradhapura attack, bragging about the effect:

"2. SLAF can carry out no maritime surveillance. LTTE can easily launch an Unceasing Waves 3 type attack on anyone one of the Sri Lankan military bases. Additional naval or army resources may be diverted to patrolling coastal areas. No more UAVs over Vanni. Bomber jets reduced to white elephants that will probably dig a few craters in the vast fields of Vanni., "

Whew, this crate in the vast fields of Vanni happened to be on Tamil Selvan's head. Keep up good work SLAF. No matter what, we are with you always, in good and bad times. Let's learn from our mistakes and make sure they are not repeated.

IS THERE ANY TRUTH ABT THIS

The title given to the barber's boy was not brigadier, you moron.

Looks like the LTTE is planning to use their planes kamakazi style to take out MR, Gota, the army commander or the navy commander.

This is what Lanka guardian is reporting. I say its high time that MR stops appearing in public to address rallies. We can't risk it.

Unknown said...

GE,

your view could become a reality....i hope we would be ready atleast this time.

And our SLAF AC n HC should have IFF and our AD units should be able to check IFF from ground!

Lets hope Key Military & political leaders and their security details take note a posibility of a suicide air attack on VIPs and key locations.

Defencewire said...

aitbd,
12 SF soldiers case false. Nothing of that sort ever happened. In any case, such a large 12-man team is usually never deployed for LRRP/LRS. Its usually 6-8 man teams. In any case, why did LTTE media keep mum about such an attack?
