Army Blasts Hole in LTTE FDL in Adampan

LTTE Routes to and from Peraru crossing A-6 at Thampalakamam and Mollipotana going towards Mohoththuwaaram (Lanka Patuna) to Sampur in the north and Verugal (A15 Trincomalee-side) and Vakarai (A-15 Batticaloa-side) in the south. From Vakarai, they cross A 11 to Paduwankarai.
Troops from 58 Division overran a section of the LTTE's FDL south of Adampan last morning (25) killing at least 7 Tigers, according to reliable information. Official sources claimed 9 Tigers dead and 12 others injured in the attack that took place around 8.30 am. Troops are less than 1km from Adampan Town/Junction.

The attack was launched despite signs of a possible LTTE withdrawal from this FDL. Military Intelligence and Forward Observation Units have confirmed the LTTE is constructing a 2nd FDL on the Adampan-Veduthalthivu route with the possibility of withdrawing from the existing FDL. The Tigers are still withholding its elite units from fully engaging the SLA along these defenses. The SLA is also using only regular infantry units from Gemunu (GW), Vijayaba (VIR) and Gajaba (GR) Regiments. Commando (CR), Special Forces (SF) and Air mobile Regiments have been assigned separate roles in the respective Avenues of Approaches.

Meanwhile the SLAF destroyed an LTTE vehicle yard situated 2km west of Depot Junction in Kilinochchi, along the A9 Highway around 7.30am. The location was used as a parking yard and garage facility for the LTTE's military and administrative wings. The importance of the location to LTTE was manifest in the AA batteries situated in the area.

In another development, the Navy's Special Boat Squadron engaged in search and destroy missions inside Peraru Jungles in Trincomalee have unearthed an LTTE weapons dump. Contrary to government claims, this weapons dump, and many others yet to be recovered are being used by a small team of Tigers to defend the jungles. Peraru is an important transit-point for Tiger reinforcements, casualty evacuation and weapons-supply.

DW-
Thank you for the detailed map as well as the on going news submission.

yes thankyou DW for this map. makes it easy to google earth the location. by the sounds of it the tigers are reverting to their time honoured tactic of 'hit and run'. does the army have special tracking units? in australia some special forces receive training by aboriginal trackers in this art.

DefWire,

What i cant understand is if the work on 2nd LTTE FDL is so visible, why dont SLAF or SLA artillery dont attack them? By that way cant we keep busy and soo desperate on defending their frontline? Cant we use few small drop bombs from jets or a ricket attack from Mi-24s on these targets?

DefenceWire is confused now, as their creditability is going down... they are unable to quote the SLA and defence.lk, and defence ministry... BUNCH OF LIERS.

Lies don't last soon, and by telling lies again and again and laudly can't become 'truth'.

Everyone are fooling Singhala peopople... soon they will find out what is going on, but before that all will be over.

and please stop reporting nonsense.. like making a 'hole' ... first fill your holes.

ram, my confused friend:

Defencewire is not affiliated with defence.lk or any other govt agency. This blog is to get a genuine unbiased true details of the current situation. Yes, this is full of patriots who has tendancy to believe the SLA heroism. But, this blog has no propaganda value for any side. If you want to read current situation from the eyes of Sri Lankan patriots, you are welcome to visit this. Otherwise, please go to LNP or any other site and have a blast. I mean not a blast blast. :)

Upul said...

I agree with ram and emphasized this point within the last week. The credibility of the supposed news items posted here is plummeting fast. There is not much news value in items posted here, its merely become a cheerleading site for MR supporters. SL's MI and its propaganda organ are one and the same. SLA does not promote its people based on merit, its whos behind did you kiss the last morning. You see spreading rumors and lies relating to defence has become a big business in the south. As long as its profitable it will continue to occur. If things starting going ugly for the SLA, news items like "4 ships sunk off Dondara point" or "VP is badly injured due to attack on his base" are circulated.
Such crap don't sell outside of the island...
Its you the "patriot" readers who are taken for a ride....

Athas makes an error

link: http://www.sundaytimes.lk/080127/Columns/sitreport.html

Under VPs picture he says

"In this super-imposed photo, Prabhakaran holds an assault rifle. It is mounted with a silencer (and a grenade launcher) which suggests the picture was taken whilst at firing practice in an open area"

In my opinion ;
The barrel of the gun is fixed with a Muzzel break NOT a Silencer. And the forward grip has a laser designation/pointer & tactical flashlight and NOT a Grenade launcher. The AK viriant (possibly Bulgarian by the cosmetics looks of it but I might be wrong) has a polymer 30rd magazine.

Unknown said...

Correction,

"The AK viriant " should be "The AK variant"

Unknown said...

nemesis,

Yes its too small to be a grenade launcher and doesnt seem like one.

Defencewire said...

jack,
No. SLA are not holding onto terrain. That is not the objective.

perein, jiffy,
You are welcome.

skywalker,
Why drop expensive bombs from expensive to operate jets (at least for Sri Lanka), to achieve what a bunch of regular infantry is achieving with limited losses? SLA is not after the bunkers. Its after the tigers and their lives, leadership and military assets. Te strategy is still to operate with least costs incurred.

ram, upul,
We at DW are trembling at your mighty roar! Please forgive us for lying....YEAH RIGHT! We got the same response from some people like Asithri some time ago when they were angered by our exposure of military losses etc. Now its the other way around with Tiger sympathisers accusing us. WHEN YOU GET ATTACKED BY BOTH EXTREMIST GROUPS, YOU KNOW YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK!

Frankly, WE DON'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK. Prove us wrong if you can!

Defencewire said...

lkdood,
Nothing will censor us, because no-one in the establishment know of a DW, DA or SDS or DR to do that. This is the think about anonymous blogs.

Defencewire said...

about the map,
On the other side of Peraru (other side of the Habarana-Trinco route from peraru west, east and 02 GS divisions)is the naval headworks sanctuary established during colonial times. Tigers first reach this area before crossing the road. Those days as many as 500 would cross the road. All from jeyanthan brigade, such a large team would go completely unchallenged by SLA. a Bigade was established there at Monkey Bridge, comprising a Special Forces unit. Now the tables have turned with only small groups making the journey. These numbers, however, are adequate for the purpose for which they are sent, which is sabotage. I remember Karuna doing this before he disbanded with only 150 cadres when a major operation was going on in the north. Its the same tactics.

Defencewire,

Is this claim verifiable?

They say , LRRP teas was defeated in Mannar , yesterday evening..

Defencewire said...

tangara,
Nothing like that. LTTE calls every unit 'DPU'. Such word doesn't even exists.

Must not get confused with LRRP/LRS. This is a highly skilled team which these guys can't detect. For example, see what some jeyanthan regiment guys seem to be doing in Yala. Multiply those skills by several times keeping in mind the larger 'play area' (terrain from Mannar to kokkuthuduwai), well...you do the math.

Upul said...

Oh yeah,

According to DW:

LRRP have special magical powers and invisible cloaks which are undetectable by LTTE defence troops ? What joke ??!!??

Tell that to the DPU/LRRP guys enjoying executive suite service at the Killinochi Hilton now...

Unknown said...
