Is it true that VP had to have one of his legs amputated?
Bomb just exploded near Mt. Lavinia....
goldeneagle,
Psy-ops buddy.
yes. inside a bus.
Swarnawahini says 5 injured. Anything more on this? BTW, the actions of the conductor must be appreciated. He has averted what may have been >50 deaths.
sun tzu's disciple,
I think you have misunderstood my comment on the previous thread:
[
"I would imagine the exercise was to build trenches precisely to avoid being a collateral damage?"
Wouldn't have mattered anyway... Those people will be forced to join someday and fight for the LTTE. They would be in those trenches by now
]
What I meant was that building trenches to protect civilians does not matter any more now, as those civilians would have been forced to join the LTTE and would be manning those trenches in battles. You seem to have thought that I said killing civilians doesn't matter.
chamal thanks for clarification.I dont want to take sides here but both sides must avoid civilian casualties if they want any legitimacy.
Now Rupavahini news says 14 injured....
Defencewire,
Video shows the bus is completely burnt. Have they used some kind of incendiary bomb?
Re: today's bombing in mt lavinia and yesterday's tamilnet news plant.
In latin and legal language this sort of thing is called: 'Post hoc, Ergo Propter Hoc'.
See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post_hoc%2C_ergo_propter_hoc
I think we should take out that friggin bishop of mannar!!..maybe send him a booby-trapped,wrapped 152mm shell as a gift!!..hehe..that should teach him a lesson!!
Defencewire,
I still can't undrstand why you have not reported on the recent acquisition of the F-7's,coz defencenet has given a fantastic article on it!!..are u still feelin "sensitive",or what??
We don't have anything to talk about them as we don't think F-7s are good for our forces. We would rather see the old pucaras refurbished and given to the Army and Navy so they could do the job themselves without waiting for the boys from English speaking colombo schools to come and drop bombs at high speeds inaccurately after all that work by MI and NI. If we had a plan like this, instead of investing on crap like the F-7s with low payloads and stamina, Bhanu, jeyam and Swarnam would be history by now.
We also don't want to discuss military acquisitions because we have more info to share that could be damaging. We would therefore focus on providing fresh alternatives based on our experience, like the Super Tucano for example.
A total of 18 civilians including a small child injured in the blast.
defencewire,
From wha i saw from your link. the Super Tucano seemed to be a very versatile aircraft. Any idea why the SLAF went for the F7s (is it the comparatively less training time for pilots/the supply-availability- of munition types used)?

Key point made by AFP is that no breakthrough was made against LTTE in the North...
Now lets claim AFP are a bunch of imperialist dogs/liars out to divide Lanka etc.
daily mirror:
A senior police officer verbally abused and later shoved journalists covering the blast in Mt. Lavinia this morning. Video footage aired by a private TV showed some police junior officers attempting to calm the situation after journalists got agitated by the attitude of the senior police officer.
A women informed over suspected parcel and it saves lots of life. Government should give a recognision to her. She is our hero.
This reminds the people that the important of being vigilant to defeat terrorism. This is a help to the forces in ground battle.
upul,
Like Nadesan's 'imperialists' who didn't condemn Thamilselvan's assassination?
"Key point made by AFP is that no breakthrough was made against LTTE in the North..."
If you completely believe what the foreign news agencies say about Sri Lanka (or any country), it's about time you get back to earth.
