News Flash

As successfully attacks were stepped-up along the Kilali, Muhamalai and Nagarkovil FDLs, the Commander Security Forces Jaffna Maj. Gen. G.A. Chandrasiri today ordered for a police curfew in Jaffna starting from 9pm today and ending at 4.30am tomorrow. The reasons for the sudden imposition of the curfew is yet uncertain. Troops from the 58 Division also ambushed a group of women LTTE cadres today capturing 11 bodies.

Meanwhile sources inform DefenceWire that the Sri Lanka Navy could get invited to join a massive naval exercise between the Russian Navy and the Indian Navy. The excercise will be held in the Indian ocean region. During a recent meeting in Moscow, Russia pledged the Sri Lanka military its full support in eradicating the LTTE.

Look at the pics of vezapillai in tamilnet. You will see a seriel loser, frustated killer and a living dead. He will meet balraj and selvan in hell soon.

I guess SLA now can attack poonaryn from both sides.

I don't like Sri Lanka getting extraordinarily involved with any country (especially, super powers). We should play it like Switzerland did during the WWII. If we don't stratagize well, there is every possibility of some other powerful nation (or a group), supporting the LTTE (or some other group of violent Tamils if the LTTE is done for).

Germany, despite Switaerland sitting right by it, didn't bother the small nation that much during WWII. But German propaganda said "We will take Switzerland, the small porcupine, on our way back home!". However, this was never carried out (there are various theories for this).

On another note, MR gov. should get rid of the hardliners within its rank, like the JHU guys. Champika Ranawaka is already becoming like a bull in the China shop. These guys will display their true colors at an opportune moment. Getting rid of these guys, would help portray the MR gov. as a moderate setup, especially after we win the war, and would greatly facilitate the political process that will ensue.

Update on the Attack targeting MV Nimalava and MV Ruhuna
By Annonymous

Recent facts revealed by sources in SL Navy unearthed the proceedings in Nothern seas about a week ago, solving many mysteries. The latest findings came from very reliable sources operating in elite units of SL Navy, who conduct many other interactions in addition to combat with the terrorists.

The proceedings began at dawn of 22nd October.

------------------------------------
At dawn, Deputy Commander Sakkiliya [posthumously Lt Col] waited at the jetty at some undisclosed location in northern coastline. With her there were two more members of the Pee Tiger brigade, Guberen [posthumously Lt Col] and Orangotang [posthumously U F] both male. The three home-made crafts were waiting. They were to go for their ultimate mission in sea - a journey of no return.

Before we start the description of proceedings let us discover the three main characters whose particular life habits have a very important role to play in the events to follow.

Deputy Commander Sakkiliya is a descendant from a particular CASTE of the ultra intelligent tamil race, whose traditional CASTE duty cannot be publically detailed. The strict CASTE system of the particular race has been quite extra-ordinary that the rest of the world thinks that it is very discriminatory [but that is due to the ignorance of rest of the world]. Nevertheless Sakkiliya’s CASTE members conduct their traditional job like a ritual and gain pleasure doing it. This was the same for Sakkiliya. However, with time, the numbers of her CASTE increased but the number of work places reduced as many people used jungle due to war. In fact the lack of opportunity to conduct her favorite duty made her depressed and finally she decided that committing suicide by means of pesticides won’t gain a rank of Lt Colonel, hence joined Pee Tigers.

How the name of Guberen came to exist is another story. Guberen’s ultra intelligent parents had no name for the child so they named him C-46, the name of the bed in the hospital ward the mother has attended for child birth. Fortunately C-46 went to school with the children of some lesser intelligent race called Sinhala. C-46 had a small issue of concern. For every little surprise that happens to him, he ends up with wet pant at his back. Nature has found pleasure in calling him quite often without giving any time for him to answer the call. So the usually jollygood but lesser intelligent Sinhala kids named him Gu-Berenna. When C-46 came home glad that he had a name after all the mess, his parents told him that they cannot accept the name which had no tamil nature in it. Finally a meal-less night of protesting saved him the part Guberen as his name.

Orangotang had nothing much to write home about other than his face is much like an Orang Otang indeed. The Hanuman whom they are supposed to be descending from has saved one of his genes in such a way to be preserved for all the millennia only to be activated on him.

Now when we come back to our story, our three going-to-be heroes are there waiting for their chance to do the ultimate sacrifice. Before the first rays of Sun touched the sea they left shore in their three crafts and waited counting fingers to calculate the passage of time. In a little while they received the signal to be ready as the two ships are at the vicinity of them. They moved on.

It is said that getting listed as a suicide member and getting brain washed and trained is such a simple thing. Also reaching the target and initiating the final act are also very easy. What really makes your life miserable is passing whatever time from the pressing of the button until your death. The life time stupidity you conducted, starts whipping your mind. The picture of the Asshole face of Thalaivara aka Thele-bara comes in front of you with a spanking laugh, “hey dingo, you sacrifice your ass for my future”. You end up contemplating why Duwarka is not committing suicide jumping to the visiting SL president in whatever country she’s conducting her studies. You end up seeing the expensive shopping cart of Mathivadini full of items that you are unable to describe. Realization does not happen always in your life. And when it happens it is too late.

Knowing this the outfit has taken two major actions in their R&D drive. Firstly they designed best electronics to reduce time from button press to execution. Secondly their suicide apparatus has no cancellation - once enabled you will certainly not miss your opportunity at all.

The events started happening all at once. It is not clear who started the first act. In a sudden revelation, MV Nimalava and MV Ruhuna rose from horizon, moving towards them at a significant speed. The gigantic hulls dwarfed the three goats on sacrifice and their crafts. Upon order they enabled the apparatus and started their final acceleration – the human toe-pee-do.

Guberen received the shock realization first up. Not only that he regretted the stupidity, but also he was astonished by the gigantic sizes of two ships in front of him. He has taken Thele-bara for several site-seeing trips when Run-ill gave him interval, but he has never seen ships of this size. He’d love to sit in the control room of a ship like this and he could take the entire brigade on a site-seeing trip. His day dream ended in the rumble of the engine of his toe-pee-do. It is too late now. He has pressed the most significant button of his life. And at that moment, for one last but gigantic occasion, nature made the sudden call on him. Back of his suicide kit started wetting and toe-pee-do started to smell like the work place of Deputy Commander Sakkiliya’s father.

The pile of shit was too big not to be missed by Sakiliya. Even if eyes failed the nose will never. As her toe-pee-do kept on accelerating she was looking at her fellow partner’s craft in deep shit. Sakkiliya waited all her teenage life to conduct the ritual of cleaning this stuff. Sadly the war deprived the ultra intelligent race of toilets and they found jungles free and easy. Sakkiliya never had her chance. She looked at her craft and the approaching ship. All is set, and she has another minute or two left. Why waste the opportunity. If only she gets a chance to conduct the lifelong dream act and come back. Even if she fails to come back there is no way how her craft is gonna miss the giant ship in front of her. Sudden idea agitated the Deputy Commander and she made her move towards Guberen, right now astonished in deep shit.

Sakkiliya had some great genes reserved from her Hanuman forefather. Hanuman who lived mythically thousands of years ago, is the author of the book “Ramayan-how to jump to Sri lanka from India in less than five hops”. Many disputed that it was written by Val-mickie, but in fact Val-mickie is supposed to be a secret name under what Hanuman published the controversial books of his. The real controversy of his book is that it cost him really more than five hops, but nevertheless the Tamils are gene-holders of sea jumping, and that’s what Sakkiliya precisely did. She took her first jump to the next craft occupied by Orangotang and then to her target, Guberen in deep shit.

Orangotang’s realization of stupidity was just arising when he got knocked by the air-borne Deputy Commander. When Orangotang realized the next bit of stupidity he was in the deep waters. And that bit is that he never knew how to swim. The hanuman genes in him made him scared to swim and he was not a Pee-Tiger, but a ground going ordinary black one. Lack of Pee-Tigers called him on sea duty. Although he was glad that Sakkiliya attempted saving his life he knew for sure that she failed. He was drowning.

In the next hop Sakkiliya reached Guberen. But by then she knew that she has messed it all. With the impact of her jump her craft has made a sharp turn and it was coming straight at the craft of Guberen. The craft of Orangotang was capsized and rotor was growling in air. No sign of Orangotang.

Sakkiliya had a very little time. It is really unknown whether she had a chance to conduct the utmost ritual of her life or not. Suddenly a loud noise was heard as two boats full of explosives exploded spreading shit on all the Pee-Tiger reckie crafts coming after them. Even the ships got slightly damaged.

Immediately after the event Thele-bara promoted Sakkiliya and Guberen into Lt Col. It was really unknown of the fate of Orangotang until some fishermen in Andrapradesh found a floating corpse of an Orangotang. He was named Unidentified Floating Orangotang [UFO] by the fishermen.

The real war began just after. Thele-bara called in the most dangerous and utmost secret unit at his disposal – the PS unit. PS unit’s existence is debated even within the organization and its fund raisers among die-ass-buruwahs. PS unit, or rather the Photo Shop Unit, conducts the most important act of every war - the propaganda. For Thele-bara win or loss mattered a little. But regardless of that he has to ship the final product to die-ass-buruwahs who will send next round of funds in return.

PS Unit ended up in a nice story. One ship has sunk and other is sinking. An entire bulk of SLN has perished. The ships were carrying nuclear weapons and B52 fighter jets. And this is again a great victory [that latter part comes as a part of the template anyway]. They shipped it to all punnakku news servers, such that the die-ass-buruwahs can stay w/o any other food for several days donating that money to the fund.

A battle has ended in northern sea as such. Another great victory for the Thele-bara, as no matter what happened in the distant hostile waters, the die-ass-buruwahs will eat the free punnakku and keep on sending their hard earned penny for some more punnakku creation.

DefenceWire,

By looking at recent events, there seems to be a LTTE mole high-up in SLAF. The reason for me to say it is as below.

(1) Recent SLAF attacks were not successful in taking out high profile LTTE terrorists. May be the mole is providing information ahead.

(2)The procedures in place to control SLAF jets taking off seems to be tainted by the suspected mole(s).

(3)Recent inaction by SLAF in defending Colombo seems to be influenced by this mole.

(4)It is very puzzling as to why the F7s were not airborne soon enough or not looking at the right place.

To influence SLAF policies and procedures including delaying command flow along with passing info to LTTE, it must be somebody in SLAF high command bought by LTTE. We should look in to senior air force men and who are around them for clues. It wouldn't be impossible to trace this man if we put enough MI resources to the task. It may also be necessary to check if there is any connection between this mole and the other mole who made the last phone call to the suicide terrorist in Maithripala Sirisena's case. This is worrisome but we need to find and kill this traitor(s) regardless how high up he/she/they are in SLAF command structure.

Sam Perera said...

DefenceWire,

We may have to check SLAF communication team and systems also for moles and sniffers. However, chances are high that there is mole in high command.

Evidently, many were noticed to have had severely infected sores and fungi infected legs/feet by having been in the water logged (from the severe monsoon rains) filthy bunkers!

Yes, these are the sadistic bitches who upon raiding a poor Sinhela hamlet in the night, would slaughter the infants by smashing them on tree trunks/walls and hack preganant women, AND would also hack with swords/knives captured SLAs to make them bleed to death slowly....

But if I think that many of them have been brainwashed to that degree by their leaders, I do hold some sense of "what a waste" re. them.

Yes, those were the exact thoughts which followed my initial sadness. But still, there can be few among these who were forced to follow this path due to the 'a child from each family' policy. (We read some letters written by likes I have mentioned around three months back). In such cases yep, it is a waste.

Since lately, SLAF performance has been somewhat sub-par in my view.

Either RoshanG pulls up his socks and be smart or he should step down and let someone else (younger and smarter) take the "cockpit" I say!

The fact that SLAF could not pursue and shoot down the puny tincans recently (sorry, I was in Hawaii on business and simply didn't get a chance to join in on the lively debate herein, so here I am belatedly! lol ) was an abysmal disappointment!

I would have thought after the AAFB attack, RoshanG would have smartened up...but not sure if that has been the case judging by the recent record...anyway, I will give him the benefit of the doubt and hope no further tincan menace will be tolerated…after all, his primary job is to protect our skies and if he cannot do that, then I think he should step down!

/The moment we did that rest is nothing but cake walk./

If you look the map you see SLA clearing the west coast is a matter of time. According to my military expertise (haha) if SLA take Nallur whole west coast will fall in to SLA hands.

However taking rest can be a different story. I don't expect a cakewalk. It seems SLA try to kill as many as possible before taking K'chi, Mankulam (A9-axis). For this SLA need time. If this works then rest will be a cakewalk.

Asithri

/Either RoshanG pulls up his socks and be smart or he should step down and let someone else (younger and smarter) take the "cockpit" I say!/

As I can see the problem SLAF have is much complex than to be solved by stepping down the head. Such a step down might make things even worse. If RG steps down what will happen next? Simply the high ranked officers sitting next to him will move up in the ladder. But they are the same people who are responsible for this whole thing.

I mean its not GR's whole responsibility to fix plan air defence system, procure what they need, fixing radars, monitoring it, communication, training pilots etc etc. There are number of officers responsible for whole process. And it is the whole process failed in all TAF attacks. That's why a resignation of a single person will not work here. Resinging the head in such a siyuation is symbolic thing in gentleman affairs but it will not sove the issue here.

My sugestion is to SLA and SLN now should expand thier boundaries without expecting SLAF will do it for them. (Actually, we better expect SLAF will do the same stupid things and be prepared to possible consequences with pro-ctive plan.

/..his primary job is to protect our skies../

This is another thing SLAF overlooked. Its their motto however it does not suggest protection of sky starts only when TAF take off. SLAF say they raided "leaders gathering". I would say raid any where without killing civilians claiming "raided a place where TAF place are hidden". It is said Indian gunners shoot at TAF in Colombo skies. So India will not say any thing if we give this reason for air raids. (oh yeah we stopped air raids for two weeks becuz we didn;t have Indian "approval".)

Ravana

What you said is quite obvious. Now I am suspicious even about the so called lows of probability theory thanks our SLAF.

Ninja said...

Adding to above my post;

When SF became the SLA chief things changed in SLA. What he did was to appoint officers to ranks irrespective of the seniourity and based on battle field perfomence. Doing this he made some personal enemies there, who are senior but uncapable. But his method worked and now we are getting the dividends. But I don't see such a approach can be done in SLAF.

For long term; my sugestion is to recruit troops from SLA/SLN to SLAF and let them take control with time. This will create some issues amonng existng SLAF ranks but GSL should provode them suitable jobs such as commercial pilots/ air lines etc.

Let's dig it deep.. Can someone tell me the real problem we have here with SLAF?

I read many articles. Now I am convinced that F-7 or Mi 24 (upgraded) are capable of destroying the ZLIN but not capable of finding and destroying it, given that it is flying at night and low. Again both have limited radar coverage too...

When a plane is flying very low I believe a radar cannot detect it? Is that right?

When the plane is flying over sea (about 50 ft above) no radar can detect it??

If you have a radar jammer, then we cannot use guided missiles??

I learned a lot from both blogs belong to Nirosh, Tropical Storm, but still not enough..

Asithri,

I am also like you mate, nearly 20 years out of mother land, though goes to SL once in every two years.

Last December to February, I was there.

That verse is from a Sunil Edirisinghe's popular song which is dedicated to our brave hearts.

Ninja, I agree with you whole heartedly bro, when I said cake walk from Paranthan, I meant, it will be easier than right now becuase 53 and 55 can come down to extra hand and task force 3 will drill a hole through peelam.

History,

I bet LTTE have "Terrain-following radar" plug in to ZLIN (may be along with Radar jammers too), this allow ZLIN to automatically maintain a relatively constant altitude, and if you have that then by flying at very low altitude, the aircraft can avoid detection by enemy radar systems.

Are we going to installed 3d radar and what else..??? believe me, you will still not be able to prevent the ZLIN.. I am preying so that GOSL will not buy new equipments, specially new radars.. we need to "think out side the box"..

As I understood, a radar jammer reflects the incoming singnal, hence not allow the target locking..

We like it or not, the enemy is a smart one.. BUT Yes we can OUTSMART HIM..

Rana said...

Asithri,

my pleasure, mate.

History,

I am not any way a expert on aviation, bro!

However, I know this much for sure.

Low flying small planes go out of radar that are erected on ground. radar are sending high voltage pulses and monitor reflections from possible solid objects. It is mimilar to the way a bat would find its way through trees.

Any obstacle like buildings or trees will reflect those pulses back to radar but those will be stationary.

Moving objects can show a trajectory of its path by series of dots in a radar screen.

Usually ground mounted radar are directed bit higher than tree level, therefore low flying plane may miss its pulses.

However, if you want to detect low flying planes over the sea, you can mount radar directing its transmitter to sea level from the ground or building top with direct line of sight.

Anything with direct line of sight can see in the radar.

Detection range will depend on how high is the voltage of sending pulse.

usually they are in the order of 100 to 400kV.

There are many ways to jam radar image, cheapest is to populate the area with metal pieces. WW 2 used that tactic by throwing aluminium pieces into the air. Modern gadgets use electromagnetic pulses similar to radar frequencies to distort radar image.

That is all I know, bro.

Nirosh said...

History,

Again.. "Terrain-following radar" is a expensive technology.. LTTE has to work hard to get it correctly customized to ZLIN but from the other hand ZLIN has great flight characteristics and additional instruments to make it easy to fly at night or (in) low visibility conditions too.. So maintaining a low altitude has to be easy with a ZLIN..

Ninja said...

Nirosh

I also think so. Conventional text book methods will not work. LTTP have studied their enemy, what they have, what they can do, what they can buy and how they can react plus traditional knowledge. LTTP designed zlin attack method after carefull study of all above things so that any conventional method will fail. That's why SLAF fails. I also think even 3D radars + MIG29 may not work.

SLA/SLN now has found thier own methods to deel with LTTP and they are showing the success. Its time now for SLAF to come up with their own methods rather than going "shopping" while giving the bill to MR. (This reminds me a beautifull, houghty, bossy and stupid wife of a innocent man going shopping and waste all his money by not doing right and simple things to fix some thing in their house.)

SLAF need to fix this in lont term for sure. However, problem is even if TAF comes tonight SLAF do not have a solution and the whole nation has to rely on 'bad luck of LTTP' as it happened so far. That's why our two best operational enitites in SL (i.e. SLA and SLN) need to come up with a strategy. If we all wait saying 'sky is up to SLAF' we have invited and waiting for a desastor.

Nirosh said...

rana,

A great write up man..

one thing.. when detecting a plan flying on the sea level.. if the radar is mounted on the ground then.. you will not detect a plane flying 3 km (I guess) away from the land.. so LTTE can always fly away from the land and come to the land at a specific position and surprise us..

When you mount the radar just above the tree level in a country like Sri Lanka (with lots of mountains), that will heavilly limits its range.. So it is not effective..

Believe me brother.. as per my research, a normal Radar is not a solution for a low flying air craft.. but don't buy in to me, I may be wrong too..

I have some stuff that I thought of, but how can I write is here, when all these tamils are looking at me..

its hard to detct without proper radar but you can narrow down the area they fly.

ltte always fly along the coast. this is the only area where they can consistently maintain 300ft altitude. they then flew inland over kalani river again maintaining 300ft avoiding radar signature. the only time they climb is when they need to drop bombs. they must have flown north towards EP, take westerly direction then flown south over mannar sea.

Nirosh said...

Ninja,

That's what I am telling too..

Buying new equipments will encourage the enemy to be more advanced next time. It will be easier to beat him in the current context, by smartly closing and openning loop holes in the current system, than in a whole new context.

If we buy new weapons or equipments. Then we can delay the next attack but won't be able to prevent it.

SLAF is very mad... man.. I hate them.. they are short vision..

Ninja, I did a whole writeup man, checkout my blog when you have some free time.. it is very long.. and it can be very very long.. I make it shorter..

Rana said...

Nirosh Thanks mate,

Panhinda you are correct,

Ninja,

ATF does not have any sophisticated method or radar jamming devices but they use good old method which has been tested over many decades.

That is flying very low major part of their journey. However, they cannot hide it completely.

What happened in the last time is F-7 did not fly towards Mannar, if they have just went to Mannar and then turn to westerly as Panhinda pointed out, he could have nailed the bastered.

Having said that, sophisticated equipment is not the answer. The equipment we have already got is amply enough for the task.

What we don't have is will. Unless SLAF develop that will with killing instincts, we will not catch it with any extra equipment.

Mate I of course don't have his personal contact info. You can see here a way to contact them. I don't they really check these accounts.

I visited your blog. But I couldn't read it fully but I will.

When an old woman said "your way of eating also like the way of prince Dutugamunu's war" our good prince didn't blame her but rather fixed his weaknesses and won the decesive war.

Some time ago SLA didn't know what to do with suicide bombers. From JOC, ClarencyF, RanjanW, RP, GaminiD all went in same style. However they found a way and now we see such attacks happen in less frequency and less effectiveness.

Some time ago SLN was just about to buy (or they bought) expensive stuff to attack suicide boats. I remember people was saying its like buying missile to kill a fly. Some how SLN passed that stage and now they have thier own way to deel with suicide boats; which is localy made tiny little arrow boats with highly trained sailors and they now do the job.

I guess many of high ranked SLAF officers are those who "won" computer games in thier childhood. In EPS the son of ret.SLA chief HamiltonW, CO there, died due to lack water; That's the troops from north central area villages carried his body without water.

As per my knowledge the main problem SLAF has with TAF is locating it. Due to low hight any radar may not work. My sugestion was to use number of zlins or any similer low flying objects to find the zlins. We can locate our zlins along west and east coasts and any other crucial points. We can use powerfull lights. Once ground troops get to know we can send our zlins to locate TAF zlin. Then F7 can down it and we need to avoid frendly fire.

Now if I say this to SLAF officer they will laugh at me.

Ninja said...

One might think we guys here in AC rooms advicing SLAF. Well, don't get confused. None of us here ctritisise SLA/SLN who fight 24/7 war. However, SLAF officers are for sure in Colombo AC rooms. And it is said they are gone at 5.00pm. In that sense we are better. ( I m not kidding.) I am sorry to say this; I don't think our SLAF officers bother to dow these zlins as much as some of the bloggers here do.

Their board of directors spent more than 06 hours arguing how to increase sales.

Lot of directors came up with complex plans. However Nandoris the old servant who used to bring tea and lunch heared few of the arguments several times and asked chair person, whether he can make a suggestion.

chairman certinly Nandoris what do you think?

Sir, my suggestion is to add another two holes to the cap!!!

It was implemented immediately.

Usually bottle neck is at the top, no exception in SLAF also.

Top brass has to be innovative and listen to others, that is all. Problem can be solved easily.

Most of the time complex problem can be solved with a simple solution.

I would suggests That SLAF should move their mobile radar units to Malavi and direct the radar towards Mundirripu or what ever the name.

Then if they have another mobile unit move that to secure area in andankulam.

Vaunia is not a good place for ground radar, my personal view. Probably it is there becuase of the SF camp. We need to select higher ground area probably 30m above the normal ground level. Radar readers should be able to read both radars simultaneously so they can fix position exactly without wasting precious time.

F-7 or any other attack crafts should be located in Anuradha pura air base ready to fly within maximum of 20 minutes.

If some body interested, pass this around, even to SLAF, if they are interested.

But, I have a feeling that they are having superiority complex being in the air force and never care for Nandoris like me,

Ha ha ha LOL.

Rana said...

Ninja,

I agree with your last sentence of the last posting.

However, in a armed force every body can't advise freely like in this blog. Top brass usually polish their buttons and badges more frequently than listening to rank and file.

That is why, I suggested whether it is Karannagoda or goonathilake, top man must either change or go for the sake of our beloved country.

"all sleeping lions in SLAF must wake up and stand strongly with SLA and SLN" ASAP.

Ninja said...

Good one. I like your earlier story too - rawing one.

/I have a feeling that they are having superiority complex being in the air force and never care for Nandoris like me/

I also think so.

LTTE anounced TAF in 1998. SLAF denied it for 9 years. TAF bombed Colombo one year ago. Being 'normal citizens' we stayed calmly expecting SLAF do it. After one year still TAF bombs Colombo.

When some bloggers 'advice' SF to fight the war I hate it. But I don't care now any obe advice RG about any thing.

We spend whole one year after SLAF promised TAF will not fly again to see they go back 8 times. We may not have technical knowledge but whatever SLAF has also of no use so far.

When TAF bombed Colombo one year ago many of us thought MIG, Kfir etc will do the job. Unfortunately, it took more than one year for us to realise the real threat of TAF. Naming it tin cans or laughing at them will be of no use once they hit what they want. If our inteligent tamiz diaspora called me modaya I will accept it regarding TAF. Unless and until you find your weak points you are not going to fix them.

First TAF made much panic among public. But mostly due to thier inacuracy now public do not worry much. But howcome SLAF?

We may define the success for TAF as;
1. Hit the intended target with damage needed
2. Explode all the bombs dropped
3. Come back safely

So it has 0%, 50% and 100% success rates respectively. (without considering downing one.)
Diaspora moral boosting etc are garanteed.

I do belive hinds do thier job gretaly. But not our jet squadron. It is SLA LRRP guys give info risking thier lives in deep inside LTTP areas and SLAF atleast need to have some respect to these brave hearts and hit on the target.

Petey has kindly given yet another opportunity to show what an ignorant little minion he is (a Sivaram he is surely not). It is pretty fun to slap him around and watch him unable to hit back (much like the LTTE these days on the battlefield eh?):

"Tigers have proven time and time again that they only need a third of the areas they now administer in order to be able to regroup and launch offensives. i.e. 1989 / 1999"

There was no offensive in 1989- Thalaivar begged Premadasa to get the Indians out the same way he begged Rajiv to save his Fat Ass in 1987.

The LTTE controlled most of Eastern Province in 1999, and it was Eastern Tigers led by Karuna who led the first phase of the counteroffensive. They're all gone now, Pete!

"19 months after 57div made first move, half of Vanni has not be secured and the main Pooneryan, Elephant Pass, Killinochchi – Paranthan and even Mankulam are still under LTTE control."

19 months ago the 57 Division consisted of only 3 battalions, with the main battle still taking place in the East. What Pete is trying to forget is how the SLA created 5 division-sized units in just one year and taking territory that the LTTE will be unable to win back.

"International Community / terrorism – US and India banned LTTE before 1997. Canada and EU are the new additions. Yet none of these countries actively chase LTTE."

"However, given the passage of time, local opinion in TN has changed and that provides space for establishment of small cells and supply lines."

Not enough to save you.

"Not all Black Tiger missions have ever been fully accurate. But when they do it, they make a difference."

Like equating the LTTE with Al'Qaeda terrorism. Not every insurgent group gets that privilege

"Karuna was the military commander of Batti-Amparai district from 2001 onwards. During late 90s he was field commander in the Vanni. To say he was the main commander in charge of UC1, 2 and 3 is going a bit too far. He always reported to commander of the land forces (94-98 Balraj 98- Dinesh)."

Karuna was the overall commander in charge of defending the Ithayabhoomi during JS (Theepan was his deputy in the northern front) and led the first phase of UC3 that built the momentum for the follow-on phases. Regardless of whether he answered to Balraj in the Wanni (he was never under Thamilselvan), as Batticaloa-Ampara district commander since 1987 Karuna had brought thousands of young easterners to fight the LTTE's battles.

Balraj and Thamilselvan (latter wasn't much of a military leader, only good for dumbass grins like our Pete) are now dead. Soon Theepan, Bhanu, and the others will join them in the Great Concrete Bunker in the Sky.

Saman's above snippet is one of the most eloquent expressions of mindless racist horse manure I've come across in a while. Truly we would not witness such writing if his mother hadn't fed him kasippu when he was a baby.

There were plenty of Sinhala sellouts to the British during the colonial era that we had to ride on the coattails of India's independence movement to get our own country free. The Jaffna Youth Congress was the first Sri Lankan organization that called for independence, but there were no Sinhala takers. Even Anagarika Dharmapala himself insisted to the British that he was a loyal subject and was not fomenting rebellion.

Our sellouts were infinitely worse than the imported labor brought from S. India. The latter did not have a choice and since then have contributed immensely to the economy through the tea industry. Our own sellouts on the other hand were handed the reins of power after independence and led Sri Lanka to ruin.

Besides it is my responsibility to discipline you. He has his mother to do that.”

If the ministers of Sri Lanka feel the same way about their offspring as my Mother did, Sri Lanka would have been much nicer place. Mr. Vijeyapala.

I think you are going on a tangent here. I did not argue that, there weren’t any Sinhala sell outs. That seems the crust of your argument. There were plenty. They are also traitors in my book. I would call them sakillias too. If you want to talk about independent struggle against colonialism lets start from 1505. There are tow major flaws in even your two examples. Where did you get the idea that Anagarika Dharmapala was an independent activist? That is horse shit to me. His struggle was entirely to stem the eroding Sinhala, Buddhist value system at the time and to uplift and nurture a new generation upholding those values (if you were alive you could have misinterpreted that as Buddhist chauvinism and perhaps put the blame on him like Pealamists for sure). That was a one man spiritual movement (his movement was against “gerimas kana giniwathura bona jathiya” not to liberate countries governance from British). Of course his work uplifted the independence movement a lot. The second bullshit example is that you giving credit to “Jaffna Youth Congress” for the feeble independence struggle we had to have against British. This shows your fucking lack of knowledge or your true colours. Let me tell you - what about the uprisings since 1505. What about lowering the British flag because it was raised 2minutes before the schedule in Kandy, 1815. That was the most symbolic ignition of flame for independence. You seem to know little about our struggle against colonialism.

Second example pisses me off more. In fact this so called “JYC” is the foundation of 50-50 movement. Which is the seed of the current Ealam problem. Please don’t take me there. If you know only half the history and believe what church has to say that is your problem but not mine.

I think your knowledge on word “racist” is also very limited. This is a very common argument people get wrong. Racists are those who inherently harbor lack of tolerance to a different race or prejudice against their culture, religion or colour. The objective of my write-up was different. I wanted to drive three points to few fucking ealamists in this blog,

1. One to show this war is not 30 years old. But has a history more than that.
2. This concept of Tamil homeland has no basis and it is not Sinhalese who subjugate Tamils but India. Tamil only political movement goes back to Gandhi’s era. That is why I said, if Tamils can not live by the rule of our country then find where they belong
3. Tamils were subjugated not only politically, racially but also economically by every other master including India, whose boots are being currently liked by fucking Ealamists at the cost of my country and innocent people. If you go through facts you will find Sri Lanka has done marginally better than India. Now, I have a problem with that even though you may not.

I agree, I said that in the most straight forward way which you wrongly interpreted as being “racist”. Let me tell you I am fine with Tamils or any race that does not play race card for political gains or to grab rightfully some-one else’s.

Regarding my mum giving kassippu to me…. That seems to me you ass hole crossing the line. Let me ask “do you know with whom your mum fucked to seed you”. Surely, can’t be one.

This also applicable to Swarnajith Udana who try to indicate he is well brought up and have the best mum. But you need are stupid enough to bekieve Mr. Vijeyapala's distorted history.

Good ideas; I agree wholeheartedly.

Wijepala,
You are right to criticise someone for being racist. We don't need to emulate the Vellalah crap. It is not the Sinhala way. I am with you there.

However, you should refrain from following that up with some bullshit about Sinhalas not doing anything against the POME bastards!
That is an insult to the heroes of 1818, 1825, 1848 and 1915 (DS and others watched a patriot being shot dead by the British while they were imprisoned). With regard to Jaffna Youth League; do you mean the same one that wanted Eelam and did not want Universal Franchise? (i.e. if not why did they host Ponnambalam Ramanathan who held these views? Don't forget that these guys really thought they were going to rule "Ceylon".
DS and others were very aware how the British masaacred the Sinhala rebels previously. If it was not for DS and Jayathileke who went with young Dr. PBS Fernando (later Prof) to the London Museum and used his photographic mind to record the Kandyan Convention verbatim, they could not have later mounted the legal-case for Dominion Status during WWII. The only reason "Ceylon" got independence after India was that the POME's did not want to offend India. DS and co had laid the legal basis for all that to occur.
After wards we have had to weather powerful English Speaking elite forces within the country (which the Vellalar-Christian Tamils represent wholly) on the road to emancipate the native speaking sons and daughters. We have just reached our goals with MR (it has taken 60 years).

So please don't ever, insult the loyal sinhala sons and daughters of the past!

At the epoch, except for few families who had become Kalu-Suddas most of us never accepted the Brit domination.

Yep, i think its too late now. they would've started separated Air arms On SLN and SLA long time ago. SLA should get Something similar to US Army's Cavalry Regiment (Equip with MI 24/35 & 212s for Deploying troops). for SLN They should get Airborne surveillance crafts like KA-27 further they should get some decent Maritime strike fighter something similar to Kfirs equip with Anti ship missiles which operates from Land. take note guys, our Maritime boundaries getting couple times bigger in 2009. i know all those mentioned costs a lot. but to protect our assets we need those equipments.

Buddies,

When I see people say, we need to buy this, and that and also that to effectively fight the enemy.. that hurt me like nothing.. A ripple of anger go across my body.. Let's be smart..

I hate to say this, our ENEMY IS A SMART ONE (I mean with respect to SLAF) and if you are to beat him, WE HAVE TO OUTSMART HIM. It is a chess game, no matter how many times you change the board, if you are not smart enough, then you will ended up losing the game. In this case buying more equipment is like changing the board.

If you buy new weapons, that me you setup a whole new context, which mean you open up more unknown loop holes.. the result will still be a failure..

I think it requires a combine effort and a effective utilization of current resources set to bring down this tin-cans.

again.. in a war like this, attacking is easier, but defending is harder.. if you give an air force to SLA, SLN then you complicate the things, hence you don't help them but challenge them (The SLA, SLN has to protect those new warcraft too).. so that you setup a whole new context, hence it is a new one, defending is harder but attacking is easier. That mean the enemy will easily find weaknesses, and successfully attack..

Stand against him toe to toe and beat him.. that is easier..

I think the case is, for some unknown reason, SLA was bit slack in getting these Zligs out of the sky. What we do not know for sure is whether their hands were tied in the last incident. But there were 6 or so previous opportunities we had to find a strategy. That is what surprised me. If they missed after trying hard, that is fine. But I am still to be convinced of that.

Saman,

Thanks buddy..

There are many ways to beat this enemy.. how can I write them here, when all these Tamils are looking at me..

But.. Let me give you a very simple one.. let's assume (yes assumptions are the mother of all fuck ups, but since Tamils also here let me start from there) that we knew they are coming, then we would have let them in and then would have start the attack, rather than letting our anti air craft guns start their firework before they are in our firing range. As you can see, you need to be smart there, how you control an automatic anti air craft guns? A hard (??) question for SLAF?? If you are smart you will solve it..

Believe.. You can gun down this tin-cans.. We need to have couple of smart brains to get together..

If you just laugh at them saying.. kurumbatti machine (as our idiotic media says) and all, then that is we are just burying ourselves..

Nirosh said...

Saman,

one more thing, we all know that SLN and SLA are doing great..

But from LTTE side, they still have lots of time, what they need is a one clear shot, and that is all what they need to win this war.. I hope you know what I mean..

I am lucky, as I am not in Sri Lanka right now so don't hear what our uneducated, idiotic media says about TAF.. "that is kakuluwa diya kellinawa wage thamai"..

Yes, TAF is our fucking enemy, I hate to lift them up, but we seems to have taken lots of time already to beat this tin-cans, so I am afraid now..

Think about dreaming, while knowing that you are dreaming.. that is how I feel now..

Nirosh said...

To those who may not know what I am trying to say...

The Z-143 is a light aircraft, famous for pilot training. Its great flight characteristics and additional instruments make the ZLIN easy to fly at night or (in) low visibility conditions.

Yes, ZLIN is an amazingly low grade flying machine, but it has Max. Speed ~ 267 km/h (that is fast, how long you think it will take to come to colombo next time?? they are improving ever time) and Endurance ~ 5 hours and 10 minutes and Range with max fuel ~1000km - 1500km (they can go around sri lanka without refueling and also go and attack India if they want to). So after all they are not really a kurumbatti machine..

but yes, it is tin-cans.. :-)

Once again, don't take me wrong.. I am not uplifting TAF but trying to show type of enemy we are up against..

First, you need to know our enemy (read hithoopa desaya), it is better to over estimate him than under estimating..

2. this is the weird thing !!!!!

at 2.32- 2.33 u see an explosion on the left hand side of your screen !!! then immediately after at 2.34 or 2.35 above the explosion and before the crosshair in the sky u see a black object moving towards the right of the screen !!!! this reappears again at the same hight between the crosshair and the right of the screen at 2.36 - 2.38 ????? wut are these

I have to give you credit that unlike the Eelamist numb-nuts here, you're able to defend your views and give a response. For that alone I'll try to shed the rough language and clarify what I said.

"I did not argue that, there weren’t any Sinhala sell outs."

Your precise words were, "proud sinhalese never prepared to be servents to British." THAT utter lie is what I responded to, because Sinhala sellouts = servants to the British.

What I neglected to mention is that almost nothing from the colonial era has any bearing on the current war against the LTTE. If the war is purely between a democratically-elected government and a terrorist organization, as we claim, then there's no reason to bring up talk about Sinhalese and Tamils 200 years ago.

"If you want to talk about independent struggle against colonialism lets start from 1505."

That's not the best place to start because Sri Lanka still had independent kingdoms. But if you really want to start there, how would you rate Sinhala rulers such as Don Juan Dharmapala who handed over Kotte to the Portuguese? Or Rajasinghe I who persecuted Buddhist monks and continued the trend of Buddhist decline, which was reversed by Kirti Sri a DRAVIDIAN ruler?

"Where did you get the idea that Anagarika Dharmapala was an independent activist? His struggle was entirely to stem the eroding Sinhala, Buddhist value system at the time and to uplift and nurture a new generation upholding those values..."

... while being servants to the British.

"(if you were alive you could have misinterpreted that as Buddhist chauvinism and perhaps put the blame on him like Pealamists for sure)."

I gave my views of Dharmapala here, explaining him as "a product of his times":
http://defencewire.blogspot.com/2008/10/ex-sla-serving-in-pmcs.html

It is interesting to note that Dharmapala, far from being a complete bigot had the brains to see that the Sinhalese could learn a lot from the non-Sinhalese how to be hard-working and gain a sense of pride. It is unfortunate that he did not consistently invoke this theme alongside the achievements of ancient Sinhala civilization.

"Of course his work uplifted the independence movement a lot."

Not really, since there wasn't much of an independence movement at the time to uplift.

"Let me tell you - what about the uprisings since 1505. What about lowering the British flag because it was raised 2minutes before the schedule in Kandy, 1815. That was the most symbolic ignition of flame for independence. You seem to know little about our struggle against colonialism."

After the 1848 rebellion there were no major acts of defiance against the British. As I told Echolalia in the above thread, Sinhala nationalism arose in opposition to colonial neglect of Buddhist institutions, the Sinhala language, traditional medicine, and later the large-scale importation of S. Indian workers. But none of this translated into a coherent anti-British movement. That was left to the short-lived Jaffna Youth Congress and more significantly the LSSP, the latter being an atheistic and multi-ethnic organization.

"In fact this so called “JYC” is the foundation of 50-50 movement."

Kindly explain this. The Jaffna Youth Congress did not survive to see the debates revolving around the Soulbury Constitution. The "JYC" had called for a boycott of the 1931 Donoughmore Constitution because it did not grant dominion status to Sri Lanka. G.G. Ponnambalam of "50-50" fame opposed that boycott.

"Which is the seed of the current Ealam problem."

In very simple terms, the seed to the current Eelam problem was government-backed (namely UNP, between 1977 and 1983) violence against the Tamils. If this violence had not taken place, Prabhakaran would have remained a high-school dropout and would've eventually wound up in jail.

The Eelamists before 1977 were mostly just talkers with vivid imaginations. Tamils might have voted for them but they would not have taken up the gun for them. It is only when their safety was threatened that things changed.

"Racists are those who inherently harbor lack of tolerance to a different race or prejudice against their culture, religion or colour."

By claiming that the Sinhalese were never servants of the British, unlike the Tamils, you most certainly were encouraging lack of tolerance against the Tamils.

"1. One to show this war is not 30 years old. But has a history more than that."

The "fucking Eelamists" (pardon my language) completely agree with you on that point. They argue that the war was preceded by "state-sponsored discrimination" from independence onwards.

"2. This concept of Tamil homeland has no basis"

What about Sinhala homeland?

The concept of Tamil homeland did not exist in ancient or even colonial times. It gained credence after independence when Tamils believed that they would be safer in Tamil-majority areas.

"and it is not Sinhalese who subjugate Tamils but India."

Explain.

"That is why I said, if Tamils can not live by the rule of our country then find where they belong"

As the 1971 and 1987-89 JVP uprisings demonstrated, there were tens of thousands of Sinhala people who also could not live by the rule of "our" country. Should they also "find where they belong?"

"3. Tamils were subjugated not only politically, racially but also economically by every other master including India, whose boots are being currently liked by fucking Ealamists at the cost of my country and innocent people."

Sinhalese were also subjugated by "every other master." I don't see why you're making a special distinction for the Tamils (maybe it is due to "intolerance" for their culture?). JR licked Rajiv Gandhi's boots. Chandrika licked the Indians' boots in 2000 but they did not want to save her. Uncle Basil recently went to lick Mukherjee's boots.

Both sides in this war are playing the same game, because the name of the game is survival.

"If you go through facts you will find Sri Lanka has done marginally better than India. Now, I have a problem with that even though you may not."

You have a problem with Sri Lanka doing better than India???

"Let me tell you I am fine with Tamils or any race that does not play race card for political gains or to grab rightfully some-one else’s."

What do you think about Sinhalese who play the race card for political gains, like many members of the current government? What do you think about the Army Commander playing the Sinhala race card?

Here is another sugestion. Actually I wrote the same thing one year ago. I hope SLAF has some super technique to down zlis. But after one year SLAF proved I was wrong.

AA gunners need for protection of vital places. However LTTP knows and expect such AA fire. MY point was to locate AA gunners across Trinco to Mannar axis and Mannar to Clombo axis along the coastal line in strategic locations. In this TAF will have to face "unexpected" AA fire. I also wrote to set up seperate SLA unit for this. However my this sugestion may not be combined with my "our zlin" -zli finders way due to increased chance of freendly fire. Anyway now a person having zero-kowledge on air-stuff has given two methods to down zlins.

As I know TAF attack is not enough for a pwer cut. However if opwer ut comes people will 'feel' it and I see three possibilities;
1. Public go against MR/war with UNP backing
2. Public identify the real reason and go against SLAF while supporting MR/war
3. Public join SLA even more as nothing to do in power cut and as SLAF fails only way to avoid TAF is by capturing zlins via SLA.

Also, diaspora was celebrating "sinking of Nimalawa". It is now said damage costs 1mn LKR. I think GSL should have over stated the damage and ask money from India to maintain supplies to Jaffna tamils. In this way we could get few milions collected by Karunanidi from his tamiznadu monkies.

He called upon Chief Minister Karunanidhi to explain as to why the ceasefire demand was not addressed. "There should be an immediate ceasfire in Sri Lanka, only that shall be the real relief to Eelam Tamils," he said./

Huk Huk Ha. There is typo I guess; in the last sentence it sould be 'real relief to Peelaam tigers'.

Jaffna University report said 9000 kids are under going training now. My guess is LTTP is preparing for a major offensive ( a quick one) so that they regain some teritary and just after that they need CFA. Background work is going on both fronts; Tamilnadu for CFA and Wanni - counter attack. I think LTTP will attack rear from vavunia-east side.

I don't have ground info from battle field. What I said was based on the map and past experiance.

Recent attacks on SLN (nimalawa/other one) TAF tour are to boost the moral of cadres. Tamilnadu fronts demand ceasefire immediately knowing GSL won't do it right now. Probably, combined sea-air-land-suicide attack may take place more weight based on Vavunia east. LTTP may try to attack along Mankulam-Viduthalathiv road probably from both sides; targeting 57 and 58 divisions to be boxed in the north.

If the trend continues for sure LTTP will lose the west coast. They need some thing special and different to happan unless they are willing to withdraw tacticaly from the west of A9. I hope SLA is ready.

extract from The Nation. I am sure some may have already read this.

A video recording showing the LTTE’s light aircraft Zline-143 as it attacked the Kelanitissa Power Plant on Tuesday night and made its getaway afterwards has been forwarded to the Defence Ministry by Navy Commander Vice Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda.

The 21-minute video shows the enemy aircraft making a hasty exit amidst anti-aircraft fire illuminating the sky. Having entered Colombo through the Kelani estuary from the Uswetekeiyyawa region, it fled in the same direction.
The attack on the power plant was the eighth air strike made by the LTTE and is also the first time it has been recorded on video.
The data has been recorded on the security cameras of the Colombo Port and the Navy ships that were berthed there at the time of the attack.

The Navy ships at Port and the Weapon Systems that have been installed for security had opened fire on the enemy aircraft. The video also features the attacks made on the enemy plane from land.

It is claimed that investigations have revealed the use of high technology, such as heat absorbing materials, on the enemy aircraft.
A senior officer of the Air Force has commented saying that inquiries were being carried out to investigate as to why the anti-aircraft systems had failed to make a successful attack on the enemy.

The F7 fighter that was sent in pursuit of the Zline 143 too, had encountered difficulties as the heat seeking mechanism on the missile system had failed to operate due to minimal heat emissions from the light aircraft. Eight attempts to fire the heat seeking missile from the F7 had failed, according to the Air Force.

guys, enough with scratching our heads about how the TAF got away.
what we need to focus on is how to answer the threat next time around.

my two cents,....

last 2(maybe evn 3?) times the TAF were airborne, the F7 found it using radar, and destroyed one with a positive missile lock.

that means, its NOT "STEALTH", if it can be tracked by the chase aircraft of SLAF.
no need to worry about stuff like radar absorbant paint on the Zlins and what-not.

my guess is our missiles are heat seeking missiles.....
fooling them is relatively easy, just cool the exhaust from the muffler sufficiently and it will do the trick.add to the fact that the zlins are normal non turbine engine driven A/C , ..- ie- just like in a car engine, cooling these exhaust's down is not rocket science.

if the above is the case(and if any SLAF officials in the blog can confirm this), then the answer is simple,...........

*switch from IR targeted A2A missiles , to Radar targeted A2A missiles*.

Dear mayilravana

"However, you should refrain from following that up with some bullshit about Sinhalas not doing anything against the POME bastards!
That is an insult to the heroes of 1818, 1825, 1848 and 1915 (DS and others watched a patriot being shot dead by the British while they were imprisoned).
"

1915 was not an uprising against the British or colonialism (although the British thought it was). It was a clash between Sinhalese and Muslims.

As I told saman above, we didn't do anything after Puran Appu's 1848rebellion- 100 years until Sri Lankan independence in 1948.

"With regard to Jaffna Youth League; do you mean the same one that wanted Eelam and did not want Universal Franchise? (i.e. if not why did they host Ponnambalam Ramanathan who held these views?"

I think you have the wrong group. The original JYC wanted to work with the Sinhalese to adopt Swabhasa policy and get the British out. They opposed the Donoughmore Constitution not because of universal franchise, but because it did not give dominion status to Ceylon. For this reason they did not get along with conservatives such as the Ponnambalams.

"The only reason "Ceylon" got independence after India was that the POME's did not want to offend India. DS and co had laid the legal basis for all that to occur."

I don't think I can accept that argument without evidence, but in any case the fact remains that our independence was tied with the larger and far more dynamic movement in India. The Ceylon National Congress itself was inspired by the Indian movement, although the CNC was a poor imitation at best.

Unlike the Indians, we did not have a truly "national" liberation struggle that brought everyone together and gave a sense of common identity. The Congress Party had stalwarts in all parts of India, from Tamil Nadu to Bengal to Punjab. Tamil Nadu had a strong leader named Kamaraj who could only speak Tamil, yet in the 1960s he became the president of the national Congress organization.

Our leaders in contrast were elites whose families had come to high positions under the British, and their primary motivations were safeguarding their personal interests. They certainly would not risk themselves by organizing satyagraha against the British in solidarity with the Indians.

DS, incidentally, had about the same education level as Thalaivar- he did not complete high school. It is interesting how he, not DB Jayatilleke, became the "father of independent Sri Lanka."

"After wards we have had to weather powerful English Speaking elite forces within the country (which the Vellalar-Christian Tamils represent wholly) on the road to emancipate the native speaking sons and daughters."

Unfortunately there was no emancipation for the native Tamil-speaking sons and daughters.

You do know that there were many English-speaking elites (not the Vellala-Christian Tamils) who saw 1956 Sinhala-Only as an excellent way to keep the "lower-class" Sinhalese in an inferior position, right? That one of the original demands of the JVP in 1971 was that the rural poor get equal opportunity to learn languages other than Sinhala as the elites?

"We have just reached our goals with MR (it has taken 60 years)."

And in a few months MR's economic policies and "Mihin Air"-style governance will send us with the begging bowl to the IMF and ADB.

People have the right to make their own judgment whether a person is well brought up or not on the basis of deeds and words. In this situation on the basis of how a person conducts him/her in his/her writing. Then again bringing up may have only some relevance not absolute relevance on how a person behaves.

If I were you I would look at the statement in the following manner. “People tend be irked with the faults of their closed ones just because of closeness. Here tolerance and annoyance go in hand in hand. When my little son does some thing wrong I am annoyed and get emotionally upset and for a certain extent I will be tolerant because to make errors is a natural to growing up. I am sure your mother and father have done the same thing with you. I only can feel the respect and honour for your parents as I feel for mine. It is wrong to bring our parents into this to insult some one or/and argue against some one.

The crux of the Wijayapala’s thesis is that ”Good or bad qualities are not a monopoly of one race or the other.”. On that I agree with him totally. In your second post (I did not read the first one and I commented only on the Wijayapala’s assertion until now.) you seem to be saying the same thing. If you are, then it is for your honour. I think you are.

I give a solemn promise to all the bloggers here. I will not resort to insults and filthy language even if someone uses that sort of thing against me. I base myself on that principle simply because I do not deserve to use such tactics and nobody deserves to receive such things. That is my personal way of thinking. If I use insults and filthy language before it hurts anybody it hurts me and demeaned me. On the other hand if some body uses such language against me I will not answer in return in same avenues. I will keep silent or explain my standpoint decently. Because I am human if may happen (inadvertently) that I err in this regard or any other regard, I will apologise regardless the other person chooses to abuse me. That is my choice and my choice does not depend on the choice of the others. If one gives me a gift and if I do not accept it then the giver has to take it back. The same goes with insults and filthy language.

The concepts of wife, husband, daughter, son, religion, culture, mother and father are sacred to me. Ideas require scrutiny, not personal insults. I hope that you understand. If not, what can I do?

I said that Wijayapala was a true Sinhalese. What I was trying to say was not that decency or good qualities belong only to Sinhalese. I wanted to say that he criticised Sinhalese people because of some closeness he felt for Sinhalese people. If a stranger errs I may look other way. But it my friend errs It irks me. I want my friends to do the same for me. That’s all.

Thanks!

Guys,

I have mention this before too!

It is a fact that local tamils who are opposing LTTE is helping LRRP on cladestine operations. These individuals may be belongs to PLOTE, TULF or TMVP factions.

SLA should use these units to locate TAF hideouts and location of their Zlins accurately and pass ground intelligence to SLAF for destroying TAF assets.

It is a more economical and efficient way to deal with Zlin threat.

I know that LTTE ban all civilians from these high security zones. If we can identify all LTTE, HS zones through such units. It will not be difficult to deduce possible take-off, landing sites.

Then SLAF should bomb all HS zones or bomb them selectively because they are HS zones, civilian casualties will be minimum.

“Mawu bime himikan patha thama diwi pidu kala ae puthun”
“Thun hele hama mawu warun laya kiri eree atha un naming”

approximate translation:

When they sacrifice their precious lives to retake the lost land,
Every mother in our nation longing to breast feed their lost sons.

Wijayapala,

"And in a few months MR's economic policies and "Mihin Air"-style governance will send us with the begging bowl to the IMF and ADB."

This is not a new thing. We have borrowed money even before the war. IMF, WB, ADB, Soudi Funds, Japanese aids and many other organizations are helping developing countries like us.

If we can successfully eliminate present cancer called LTTE, whole world is going to help us. Our tourism is going to blosom.

Complete north and east will not seen a proper economic activities for last 25 years.

With all that and many other factors like halting defence expenditure will save us from a calamity that you are talking about.

We are still in a better position to see Singapore dream.

India is solely responsible for our present demis. I will never, ever forget what Indira Gandhi and RAW did to us. It is a fitting reward what Rajive Gandhi got from VP.

I think/hpe very soon K'nidhi also may get a similar treatment.

Just to check will you still watch Pooja Gautami Umashankar movies. I guess as part of the South Indian Actors Guild. Anyway Guess you will not.

I liked defencewire story on Mahindha being the target. I nearly fell of my chair laughing. I guess LTTE wants to kill their number one ally. Is this another physcops to save Mahindha mama. Did his brother instruct you to publish that.

I guess for the LTTE to get their sperate state Mahindha should be continued to be allowed to run down the economy.

IMF which is a pro LTTE organisation as it says Sri Lanka is going to go bankrupt. The Central Bank has lost nearly one billion US dollars trying to defenc th rupee. I guess now that Mahindha mama, family and friends have moved their money to swiss, they can allow the rupee to devalue.

“Mawu bime himikan patha thama diwi pidu kala ae puthun”
“Thun hele hama mawu warun laya kiri eree atha un naming”

Thanks for the direct translation.

The implicit meaning of these lyrics can be better understood when you reverse the order of the two lines and interpret them. Let me try,

Every breast feeding mother‘s milk is made in the name of
Those son’s who laid their lives for the motherland.

Meaning, every mother holding and breast feeing a son is none other than those heroes who were re-born in the motherland. Isn't that beautiful.

In our culture “dinu bimath vadu mowath” inseparable from ones life. Some literates argue this as a clear indication of people of a land being sieged over many thousands of years. Hope you are aware that in Sinhala poetry we have more “satan kavi” than poetry written on nature, love or peace. This is not a mare coincident.

I guess you guys are like the Republicans, pushing the blame to someone else. How the F@#K do you think the airforce is going to take out the Zlins. Its and army problem and you army guys have convientely put the blame on the Air Force. The Air FOrce in Sri Lanka is nothing more than an extension of the Army in Sri Lankan context.

Your famed DPU, Mahsoon Brigade etc should find those planes and take them out. Instead you glee when some LTTE LTC is killed. A piece of advise is to put the air defence units under the army.

Anyway I guess you needed a lame duck to hide Sarath Foneka embarassment.

Will there be any awards for bravery when the next round of "JVP Uprisings" are crushed. I mean it was very brave of the soldiers to kill unarmed youths in the South. You guys in heart do not want the war with the LTTE to end. Else you will have to face the consequences of the sins against the people that you were, are and will be doing.

P.S Looks like both Prabha and Mahindha run for cover when they hear the planes comming. So until people realise that there are bunker rats on both sides the war will go on.

The BBC had a debate of whether the middle East wants Mcsame as the next US president. 87% polled in the audience said no. It was part of the Doha Debates series hosted by Tim Sebastian (The man who did an excellent job as Hard Talks anchor) Looks like Sri Lanka is in for some deep shit when Obama becomes President.

welcome back.

The IMF article is precise. They do not predict bankruptcy, but a mere drop in forecasted growth for the year (from 7% forecated, down 0.9% down to 6.1% for 2008).

That's a heck of a lot of growth for a small country in the midst of the worst financial crissis in modern history and a global recession.

We will still hold the edge in exports due to depreciation of the SLRs. There's potential for domestic producers to take advantage of inflationery pressures and make a handsome profit, if they didn't lack management expertise. The biggest stumbling block for domestic marketting has been the lack of adequate research and publication of data, which each successive govt has failed to address appropriately.

navindran,

don't you know that sinhala and hindi are identical (therefore EASIER to learn) than tamil?

also don't you know that MOST sri lankans prefer hindi movies over tamil movies? of course sri lankans have traditionally liked south indians sluts.

so the protest by tamil actors have no bearing on SL, even culturally.

Saman Bro,

your translation is beauty, mate (ELA KIRI).

Mate, I never had a chance to study sinhala literature, even at lower clases from grade 6 to 9 we had to do applied maths when other learn literature.

I learn very little reading my sisters books like Ummanga Jathakaya, Sunethra nohoth Aichara samaya, Wijaba Kollaya, gamperaliya, madol duwa, karuwala gedara, Yuganthaya, Wiragaya and Laxhmee hewath nonasena rajiniya etc etc. I love them all but my sinhala vocabulary is not that good. That is the bad side of higher education in english.

I agree with you in your last part of the post too.

Thanks again for almost perfect translation, bro.

Please don't say this:

Tamil girls are very nice, decent and loveble living beings. You can go on loving them for ever man. Once you are closer to them, you can't forget them until you die, mate.

Very well said brother…you certainly put a koss-gatey up that undercover “wesaballa” eelamist’s arse! LMSSAO!!!

Yes, this is a lesson for all SL patriots here…

I have said this before and I will say it again…

There are eelamist motherfcukers bobbing up in these blogs, pretending to be “Sinhela patriots” (yes, they most certainly do criticize the LTTE MF’s too as that is part of the ploy to win trust of the patriots here) and their job is to:

1) Destroy the pride Sinhelas of Sri Lanka have over their national heroes by denying such heroes ever existed or their brave deeds/campaigns ever occurred

2) Rewrite Sri Lanka’s history by denying the inalienable right of Sinhelas of Sri Lanka to call it their “homeland” or “motherland”

3) Put forth cockamamie nonsense to falsely elevate their eelamist forefathers as patriots who fought off the successive European colonizer (when the overwhelming evidence acceptable by us points to either covert or overt complicity with the white gooks to subjugate the majority Sinhela Buddhists of the country!)

4) Always justify the eelamists’ violence by making reference to the JVP’s violence – by cleverly suppressing the fact that the JVP never demanded the bifurcation of Sri Lanka along racial lines.

In short Saman, kudos to you bro as you called this motherfcuker’s history-rewritten harangue a “yanne Koheda Malle Pol" exercise…in other words, yes, not worthy of any further response!

Now that the eelamists have got their prick up their arse due to the irreversible doom they face, they will come in here with the intent of doing what I noted above – so beware patriots!

but the way to handle them is an art. you MUST allow them to say as many patriotic things. the moment their TRUE colours start to emerge, SCREWW them in the open. they MUST talk. after sometime they will realise it is not possible to REVERSE!!!!

there is a saying "give enough rope to hang oneself". NEVER change your factual historical views due to FREE advice of SUCK-KILL-AIYAs.]

Asithri,

You are dead right about eelamists. They will do anything and everything to achieve their goal, even sleeping with the devil!

However, I do not have problems with rest of the tamils. There are thousands of them who oppose LTTE as well as eelam.

I have fond memories of my tamil friends back in SL. Their friedship is still warm in my heart even after 25 years of war.

When I met them in last December, they are still the same.

Mi 24 is faster than ZLIN so we can use a Mi 24 here..again if you want a radar SLAF have six upgraded mi 24 with radar (~10 km) and mounted helmet etc so no big deal ah??

If you research a bit, you will realize that it is not that simple..

If you are not seen a ZLIN today, I guess that is not because TAF can't come and go safely, but because they don't have enough intelligent to get an accurate target..

I am sorry to say this, but I don't think you know enough to discuss this??

Dear mathamatica,

"Most racist Tamils were sellouts hoping for the crumbs, the missionaries prepared them well for the role. They were the one who got the real technical power in then Ceylon."

Technical power didn't mean much when the Tamils didn't wield political power to match. The fact remains that the people who inherited political power after the departure of the British were more or less the same people who had sucked up to the British.

Guys,

Read following news article:

"Responding to the request made to the international community, Russia and Czech Republic have come forward to help the government of Sri Lanka to destroy the small aircraft of the Tamil Tiger air wing.

Government of Sri Lanka has requested help from the international community to counter the bombing of strategic locations in the country by the Tamil Tiger terrorist organization.

With the agreed help these Czech built Zlin Z-143 aerobatic trainer aircraft are expected to be destroyed soon.

Tigers have reportedly acquired five aircraft one of which was destroyed by the Sri Lankan fighter place following the attack on Vavuniya Air Base."

"Your arguments are taking any thing and every thing out of context - you are all over the shop to say the least - demonstrating how ill informred you are and at the same time showing a "yanne Koheda Malle Pol" type argure. I do not have time for such crap."

Translation- "I, Saman do not have the intellectual capacity to refute anything you said, and will therefore attempt to cover my exit with big talk that I cannot back up."

That's fine with me.

"You can have your openion I will have mine."

Fair enough. But if you express your opinion that Sinhalese were more "patriotic" than the Tamils during the colonial era or that 99% of the street-sweepers in India are Tamils, then I will express my opinion that anyone saying such idiotic things obviously was not fed properly by his mother in his developmental stages.

It is racist sentiments like the above which have brought down Sri Lanka.

The wind turbulence is very high below 1000ft. I know this because I used to fly light aircraft for a hobby. Zlin generally keep below 1000ft. Since effective range of ak-47/t-56 is around 400yards our aircraft will also need to fly low to shoot. It will be hard to control a light arm from the cockpit with wind turbulence unless its mounted on some kind of gyro stabalised mount.

The F7 already has a 23 mm cannon. An expert on this blog earlier noted these cannons are "ornamental" thus not much use for it. Its considered ornamental because generally when they think of dog fights, the opponent always fly a supersonic jet. They forget the opponent here is only flying a light plane. If the F7 can fly low and slow, it must be able to blast the Zlin from its 23 mm cannons.

Panhinda,

If you have read, Tom Sawyer and Huckel-BerryFin you will see lot of similraties with the novel "Madol Duwa".

In fact those days Martin Wickramasinghe was criticised by certain circles for copying the above.

Also if you have read Ryder Haggard's "Ayesha", it is similar to Lakshmee written by Sirisena Maitipe.

Eriyagolla's Dewathapaya and Last days of Pompei also has many similarities.

WA Silva also been accused for his "Hingana Kolla" with Thief of Bagdad.

However, to me from sinhala films "Sath Samudura", "Thunman Handiya" by Mahagama sekera and "Ahas Gawuwa" by Wasantha Obesekera?,"Bakmaha Deege" by Dayananda Goonewardana are better than Madol Duwa.
"Parasathu mal" and Nidhanaya also superb films from Gamini Fonseka to go along with DB Nihal Sinhge's "Weli Kathara".
