OMG, things are not going well. In the 1966-1970 period, at least 40% of my batchmates were female.
Engineering was a high status profession in SL then, and everyone wanted to get into the E-fac. Has that changed for the worse for engineers in SL? Is that why there are so few female students? Not a good trend at all, in my view.

I know that many people in this blog consider him a traitor. and i am not here to open a can of worms. What I do want to know is
facts proving that he is a traitor (even his articles supporting such a view) because although I have seen some of his articles I havent been able to read all.

Get real, Mushe. You didn't win any arguments with Long Ranger. The SLAF did not undertake non-stop missions against artillery guns- these ones were most probably destroyed after the SLAF got firm actionable intelligence regarding their actual positions.
Regarding EPS, yes you were famous for screaming for a full offensive there well before Task Force I and 57D secured the southern flank, despite the fact that N-M-K area had been a death trap for any force attempting to advance there. If the SLA followed your advice the 53D and 55D would've been wiped off the map.
Please be nice and accept the gentle corrections that the Long Ranger gives to you. He's a lot more patient with you than I am!

I disagree- there are plenty of 2-party democracies which don't have our bloated cabinets. The problem traces to the 1978 constitution which features an open-list proportional representation (PR) electoral system:
1) The PR system creates electoral outcomes where it is extremely difficult for a party to win even a majority. A dominant party has to bribe other parties or individuals in the opposition with ministries.
2) The open-list creates a situation where individuals within the same party have to compete with each other to get seats. This protects the top leadership from making the tough decisions as to which party members are more important than others for elections (as in closed-list PR systems), but it ruins party discipline and does not give the leadership control over party members after elections.
Contrary to what Mushe and other ignorant so-called "patriots" believe, our current constitution is highly flawed and in desperate need of overhaul, if not replacement. A lot of our problems with our political society trace back to the nature of the constitution. We have elections every year or every other year that cost millions without any benefit. We have provincial councils which are a further drain on resources and likewise do not serve the public (this is why I am not very excited about the Tamils' demand for devolution).

I highly disagree with this. Assuming you find someone with a vision (and the right vision), how will he/she be elevated to power???? Such a person would either have to be elected (requiring a popular base) or seize power through coup (requiring military backing).
Dictatorships have a very poor track record of success. They tend to go rotten very fast and it's hard to get rid of the buggers without a counter-coup or revolution, which further destabilizes the country. For all its flaws, democracy has a way of flushing out losers (although replacing them with different losers). Note that SL took a drastic turn for the worse only after JR cancelled the 1982 election and extended parliament. Chandrika who was in power for 10 years became a non-entity overnight after Nov 2005.

Yes, and OPENING UP (through road building and other development works) of the crown lands of the Vanni jungle to settlement by Army personnel and other settlers, within the context of ethnic integration through demographic homogenization, should be the approach adopted.

I disagree- there are plenty of 2-party democracies which don't have our bloated cabinets. The problem traces to the 1978 constitution which features an open-list proportional representation (PR) electoral system:
1) The PR system creates electoral outcomes where it is extremely difficult for a party to win even a majority. A dominant party has to bribe other parties or individuals in the opposition with ministries.
2) The open-list creates a situation where individuals within the same party have to compete with each other to get seats. This protects the top leadership from making the tough decisions as to which party members are more important than others for elections (as in closed-list PR systems), but it ruins party discipline and does not give the leadership control over party members after elections.
Contrary to what Mushe and other ignorant so-called "patriots" believe, our current constitution is highly flawed and in desperate need of overhaul, if not replacement. A lot of our problems with our political society trace back to the nature of the constitution. We have elections every year or every other year that cost millions without any benefit. We have provincial councils which are a further drain on resources and likewise do not serve the public (this is why I am not very excited about the Tamils' demand for devolution).

I highly disagree with this. Assuming you find someone with a vision (and the right vision), how will he/she be elevated to power???? Such a person would either have to be elected (requiring a popular base) or seize power through coup (requiring military backing).
Dictatorships have a very poor track record of success. They tend to go rotten very fast and it's hard to get rid of the buggers without a counter-coup or revolution, which further destabilizes the country. For all its flaws, democracy has a way of flushing out losers (although replacing them with different losers). Note that SL took a drastic turn for the worse only after JR cancelled the 1982 election and extended parliament. Chandrika who was in power for 10 years became a non-entity overnight after Nov 2005.

They raise all kinds of divisive issues and arguments, whether it is degrading Buddhism, using Buddhism to weaken our will to wage this war, disparaging the accomplishments of our heroic ancestors, demonizing the few brave leaders who have risen from the ashes of political ineptitude to marshall the resources and the popular will needed to fight this war, pitting us against each other in class warfare, disparaging long standing and newly emerging national educational institutions, all with the goal of demoralizing us and taking us back to the bad old days. The bad old days when an army of appeasers preached to us that "military solutions will never succeed" and only "peaceful negotiations will work" while the Eelamists are using every trick in the book to destroy our country.
In years past, people such as these, demoralized and brainwashed the citizenry of Sri Lanka to believe that we have done grievous wrong to the Tamil people, and that we should pay for it by giving up a large part of our country, while the enemy were using methods far more vile and violent to destroy us. In doing so, they caused divisions and chaos within our country, prevented the GOSL from equipping the defense forces adequately to confront the separatists, and demoralized the troops so much that desertion from the armed forces became an epidemic. Precisely the same arguments, both obvious and subtle, used by them then, are re-emerging now to discourage and divide the people.
The recent attacks against the news media, accusations of human rights violations, various protests and other acts of civil disobedience, are being orchestrated now by those who want to reverse impact of the hard-won victories of the SLDF in the battlefield on both the Eelam struggle, and the continued popularity of the current GOSL.
I can understand why Eelam Tamils would want to do this, but I can never forgive our own people who are trying to destroy what has been achieved at such great cost; achievements for which so many of our soldiers have given their lives as the last full measure of their devotion to their motherland.
Every patriotic blogger should keep uppermost in his mind that it is the survival of the country that is at stake here, and walk away from those who, in their best judgment, seek to undermine that goal.

SLAF and Navy got a major role to do.
If SLAF hits the fat pigs and destroys the Leadership, things will change over night and others will start to surrender. No leadership No War.
Navy should make sure that ammunition does not reach the LTTE.
There will be a point where they can fight like this. If they dont get the supplies, things are over for them.
Our guys really knows this. This is what they are doing at the moment. Isn't It?

They have no more places to do tactical withdrawals and now its their hard core elite who are fighting. So if their decision is to fight until death obviously we will have increased SLA casualties.
But I still believe LTTE expect their TN jokers or (obama or some one) to intervene and save them and they will try to hold their even very last 10acres expecting some magic.
