EPS to be declared captured shortly

The Army will shortly declare the liberation of Elephant Pass, a garrison lost years ago. It will be a historic victory in this sector and the 53 and 55 have been given the opportunity to raise the lion flag and their share of the victory.

Clearing operations are being finalized at EPS. A Major was killed by a boobytrap but other than that, no serious incidents have occurred since the capture of Soranpattu. The 58 and 53 will not meet up. The former started moving east of Paranthan via Murusamoddai towards Chalai/Mulaitivu.

Ninja,

You put it the best. When 300 more to get in 20 overs with last man out, you will notice that strike rate will be above run-a-ball until the fireworks last. This is in fact not happy news for patriots, but the truth is that.

Here is my take for the future of Fatpig:

1. Fatpig alive, in bunker
2. Fatpig alive, in prison
3. Fatpig alive, in exile, in secrey, controversially known to everyone.
4. Fatpig dead

Case 1: [Fatpig alive, in bunker]
- more SLDF casualties
- Postponing fatpig's future only, one day it will end up in other two categories
- Not desired at all.
Conclusion: Worst militarily

Case 2: [Fatpig alive, in prison]

- Martyrdom
- More terrorism to get him out
- International pressure
- Possible future pardon
- Possible political future for him.
Conclusion: Worst Politically

Case 3: [Fatpig alive, in exile]

- No one is sure, dilemma among pussycats
- Pussycats feel betrayed, many surrender
- New political party will be formed by alienated pussycats
- It won't take up separatism as Fatpig is there to represent it [Ex: Karuna, Pillayan].
- Diaspora divisions on fatpig.
- Fatpig will consume most of their money
- Fatpig at 54 cannot organize anything to fight back.
- SLDF will have to be ready as he is alive. Continuous improvements. Otherwise SLDF will give up everything in 5 yrs and we will become vulnerable again.
- Internationally full support continues isolating the separatists.
Conclusion: Best case politically, and diplomatically.

Case 4: [Fatpig dead]

- Lesser casualties
- Terrorism cease, separatism alive at large
- Diaspora will look for next opportunity
- Political vacuum soon to be filled by someone else.
- Intl community forget us, and later ion indirectly support separatism.
Conclusion: Best for separatism

After Prabhakaran - what next ? (Part 1 & 2)
- by Gomin Dayasri
(13.01.2009 & 14.01.2009 - Daily Mirror, SL)

A Prabhakaran dead can be more menacing than a Prabhakaran alive. Prabhakaran missing could be still worse. The call to surrender laying down arms is to place the pill under his tongue - Prabhakaran fears to face Tamils without arms and ammunition. Prabhakaran dead or alive would not matter, if the legitimate grievances of the Tamils are attended, without leaving it in the freezer.

Tamils fleeing the northern sector (except those planted by the LTTE as moles to cause economic and military damage) know Prabhakaran better than those in the South. They had to escape from him to tell the sorry story. To the parents - Prabhakaran is the prime child snatcher; to the children-Prabhakaran has ruined their future; to all- the man has rendered them homeless by ethnically cleansing his own creed. Resurrection conjures reincarnation from the grave, icons can become idols; the second coming of Prabhakaran is possible through fable and legend in the form of fairy tale and folk lore, mime and music.

Prabhakaran and Wijeweera are the anarchist children of J.R.Jayewardene. He fathered them when he aborted the election and gave birth to a referendum. Instead of becoming babes in parliament they went into the woods to emerge as killers in battle dress. Prodigies became megastars with a dream in mind and a gun in hand. Holding out as freedom fighters they hunted and killed their own kith and kin which made them fall from grace with division within their own divisions. The self proclaimed freedom fighters alienated their own people when they denied them their freedom to live with dignity. The student circles destroyed Wijeweera in hiding – military cadres are doing the same to Prabhakaran in hiding. To operate from hiding with a remote controller is handing power to others to make grave mistakes. History will show cadres alienate the people more rapidly than the leader, in isolation, to accelerate his downfall.

Wijeweera died with few friends at home. So will Prabhakaran. JVP has to still depend on support and funding from abroad from their diaspora. So does the LTTE. After Wijeweera, the JVP entered the democratic process. So will follow suit, the remainder of the LTTE after Prabhakaran; the JVP politicians who remained at home became parliamentarians. JVP keeps metamorphosing into further fractions. It will happen to the LTTE more so with a political vacuum. JVP blow themselves big with small and energetic cadres. LTTE does it better. The post Wijeweera youthful leadership in the JVP made a greater impact as democrats winning 40 seats in parliament than their discredited revolutionaries whose exit only their families mourn. The breakaway former LTTE group captured power in the East at the first democratic opportunity. Out of crushed revolutions grow meaningful evolutions.

JVP hardly talks of Wijeweera and his fighting forces except on the commemoration day. Few knew him in JVP to talk of him. Ask Wimal Weerawansa or Vijitha Herath-they merely have a picture image of the founder being schoolboys. Probably only Somawansa Amarasinghe speaks of him fondly. Still less would know Prabhakaran, living in splendid isolation, and few would care to talk of him endearingly. Like Wijeweera in the JVP, Prabhakaran will live more in the minds of the diaspora who are living overseas seeking attention for a moment when they come home on furlough to be recognised and willing to pay for it. Prabhakaran will be made the fall guy like Wijeweera and blamed for killing fields-a topic JVP assiduously avoids. Once the upper echelons of the JVP were eliminated the next generation was willing to walk the path of democracy.

It is the governments by procrastination and neglect that can make northern homes decorate with garlands the photographs of a murderer. If the legitimate grievances are attended to, in a reasonably satisfactory manner, Tamil will put his picture in the dustbin. The greatest setback for the launching of the Federal concept for the Federalists was the emergence of Prabhakaran; not the Sinhala nationalists who energized the federalists. Prabhakaran destroyed it for more than a generation He inherited the federal trappings and killed those propelling it and converted the weaklings to be his mouthpiece. He made an exhibition by deed and act, that federalism will lead to secession. It is to the credit of Anandasangaree that he fearlessly stood alone on the deck when others deserted him. It is ironical that a Tamil fighting for a homeland pulled the curtain down on federalism eliminating it from the constitutional choreography. Now is the time to move the idol from iconology- by being genuine towards Tamil grievances.

The priority must be the Tamil people and not the Tamil politicians. The lesson to be learnt is from the CWC which has been warming cabinet seats uninterruptedly under every administration for 30 years, while the Indian Tamil community has hardly progressed; the beneficial flow has been to the party officials and the community still deems it to be neglected. Provincial Council is side stepping the issues affecting the Tamil people. The 13th Amendment was never sought-it was imposed and accepted by a weak leader who was a thug only at home. It has stands flawed fractured flayed because the present constitution was plotted at a ‘mad hatters’ tea party- an Indian midsummer nights dream. It could be said a programmed coup is worthwhile merely to rewrite a constitution.

Anandasangaree's indictment of the LTTE & Tamil Nadu:

[Tamil Nadu is partly responsible for the sufferings of the Tamils in Sri Lanka - Anandasangaree
Monday, 12 January 2009 - 11:31 AM

Tamil Nadu which is partly responsible for the sufferings of the Tamils in Sri Lanka, must now wakeup present from its deep slumber and persuade LTTE, if in case unyielding, warn them to release the people to go anywhere they want V. Anandasangaree said. He added that the LTTE has lost the war and it is ridiculous for anyone to still believe that they will regain all what they have lost.

V. Anandasangaree, President TULF said in a statement that If the LTTE is willing to lay down their arms they can do so and negotiate with the Government for a solution within a united Sri Lanka, wherein all ethnic groups can live as equals, enjoying all rights without any form of discrimination what so ever. He added that failure to do so will only pave the way for some unscrupulous elements to takeover, like snakes taking up residence in the anthills built by the labour of infinite number of white-ants

All what is mentioned here is only a minor fraction of the sufferings of our people. Why can t Tamil Nadu, which is partly responsible for the present situation, wake up from its deep slumber and persuade them or, if unyielding, warn them to release the people to go anywhere they want.

Given below the full text of the statement made by V. Anandasangaree, President of the Tamil Liberation United Front:

TULF Calls Upon The TNA To Save The Innocent Tamils Trapped In Vanni Or To Quit Parliament

`I call upon the 22 Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarians to do their duty or to honorably vacate their seats in Parliament. They have fooled enough the people whom they claim to represent in Parliament, but never championed their cause. Instead they always defended the LTTE at whose mercy they got elected fraudulently to Parliament. They have misled the International Community, the people of Tamil Nadu in particular.

Tamil Nadu if left alone or properly briefed would have contributed their best towards a workable solution, without earning the displeasure of the people of Sri Lanka and without causing embarrassment to their own Central Government, with un-fair and un-implementable demands. Unfortunately the people of Tamil Nadu got misled by the advice given by the TNA Parliamentarians.

Without demanding the war to stop, if they had, in a friendly way, agitated for a reasonable settlement of the ethnic problem, they might have succeeded. I extended my invitation to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Dr. M. Karunanidi four years back to pay a visit to Sri Lanka. Let us not forget that the President Mahinda Rajapakse himself has invited the Chief Minister Dr. M. Karunanidi a couple of months back when a mass scale agitation was going on in Tamil Nadu, to visit Sri Lanka and would have been very happy, if the Chief Minister had accepted the invitation, came to Sri Lanka and offered to mediate. This is yet another lost opportunity for which the TNA should bear the blame for not making use of this opportunity.

What sin have we committed to undergo this agony all these long years, extending to a period of quarter of a century and how long are we to endure this? , ask the people of Kilinochchi, who are all now displaced and living at Dharmapuram, a small village in the district of Kilinochchi. I know most of them because, I lived with them and represented them in Parliament for many years. Apart from these more than a hundred thousand people - men, women and children, including the sick and the toddlers, deprived of their normal life, had been mercilessly driven like cattle into Kilinochchi by the LTTE from the areas under their control in the neighboring districts of Mannar, Vavuniya and Mullaitivu. They were pushed into Kilinochchi by the withdrawing LTTE cadre, unable to confront the advancing Government Forces. Left alone most of them would have stayed in their homes or could have gone to their respective homes and saved whatever left over after being looted or robbed. Instead they are brought from far off places and squeezed into small villages already over crowded with the locally displaced persons from the Kilinochchi district itself. The LTTE holds these people to ransom for no fault of theirs, but only for the sole purpose of using them as human shield for their own protection. The distress call of these unfortunate people is not heard in Tamil Nadu.

The International Community which is much concerned of the Human Rights violations in the LTTE held areas also, is compelled to keep silent, perhaps due to their reluctance to go against the demand of Tamil Nadu for a ceasefire although it is very obvious that, the demand is more in support of the LTTE, than in the interest of the Tamils trapped in the LTTE areas.

It is very unfortunate that Tamil Nadu is refusing and the TNA is ignoring to respond to the distress call of these two hundred and fifty thousand people who are caught up between the LTTE which is compulsorily recruiting men and women only to sacrifice them at the battle front and the deadly snakes that are multiplying in their thousands. Hundreds had been stung by snake and many have died.

Leave aside the TNA, even nature is against them. The down pour of rain is so heavy that all areas are flooded and people have to move from place to place in search of highland to camp and to cook their food.

Apart from the snake menace the other one is the mosquitoes with the threat of an outbreak of malaria or dengue. I dare say that all these sufferings of the people do not seem to be of any concern for the TNA Members of Parliament in Sri Lanka and some leaders of Tamil Nadu, who were in the fore-front of the recent uprising in Tamil Nadu, most of whom take pride in boasting of `umbilical code relationship`, between the Tamils of Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu. They least know of the same relationship the Sinhalese have with the Tamils of Madurai in Tamil Nadu.

Their only concerns seem to be saving the LTTE under the pretext of stopping the war. A TNA Parliamentarian had said in Parliament recently that 55000 children from 190 schools are not attending school. He did not have the guts to tell the world as to why this has happened?, Because of whom? And where? To add to what he said, in the Eastern Province more than 6000 children do not know their alphabet. The MP did not tell how teachers on the Government s pay roll are fighting in the war front for the LTTE. These MP s children are quite safe in foreign countries having good education. The irony is a TNA Member of Parliament whose entire family is in Australia, recently referred to me in Parliament as a traitor.

The people in Vanni want the war to continue, because they want the war to end with the LTTE defeated. The forces that had marched forward about 200 miles liberating the people all along, has only a few more miles to go. The people only plead that the forces should avoid civilian targets and night time aerial bombings.

Everyday a few dead bodies of the LTTE fighters are handed over to the ICRC to be delivered to the LTTE. They are young boys and girls, children of poor parents compulsorily recruited by the LTTE and sent to the battle front with hardly any or very little training.

One can understand the TNA Members of Parliament remaining silent on this type of matters merely to please the LTTE and to save their seats in Parliament. But one cannot understand as to why Tamil Nadu, which is rich in culture and civilization, God fearing and pious, always sympathetic towards the Sri Lankan Tamils and proudly boast of its `umbilicus code relationship` with them, should remain silent without raising one word of protest against the cruel and uncivilized manner in which the brutal LTTE is treating the innocent Tamils, whom they are keeping under compulsion in a pre-dominantly jungle area, infested with snakes and mosquitoes, in chilly weather and pouring rain, without timely food and proper shelter, shifting their temporary abode from place to place off and on like nomads.

It is traditional for the LTTE to take away first, all what they need and only what is remaining is distributed to the people. This is happening even today. The TNA Members did not protest when the LTTE ordered all those 8000 students who sat for the G.C.E(O/L) examination held recently, to under-go trainings while the Catholic Church protested against the attempt of the LTTE to take away some orphans from an orphanage run by the church.

All what is mentioned here is only a minor fraction of the sufferings of our people. Why can t Tamil Nadu, which is partly responsible for the present situation, wake up from its deep slumber and persuade them or, if unyielding, warn them to release the people to go anywhere they want.

If Tamil Nadu, adamantly keeps silent or out of fear for a handful of pro-LTTE leaders of Tamil Nadu and also if the TNA Members of Parliament who misled Tamil Nadu and roused the feelings of the people there, fail to move them inspite of all these pleadings, I have to look upon the expatriate Tamils who had largely helped the LTTE to grow, with substantial financial assistance, to intervene and bring pressure on them to free the people detained.

The LTTE has lost the war and it is ridiculous for anyone to still believe that they will regain all what they have lost.

If the LTTE is willing to lay down their arms they can do so and negotiate with the Government for a solution within a united Sri Lanka, wherein all ethnic groups can live as equals, enjoying all rights without any form of discrimination what so ever.

Failure to do so, will only pave the way for some unscrupulous elements to takeover, like snakes taking up residence in the anthills built by the labour of infinite number of white-ants. The Government of Sri Lanka and the International Community has a moral duty to see that the Tamils are not allowed to jump from the frying pan into the fire. I assure the TNA Members of Parliament that I sincerely feel that they have failed in their mission and therefore to quit their seats in Parliament. As for me I am not interested in any office but my whole interest is only on the people who are suffering for the last quarter of a century.

V. Anandasangaree,
President TULF.]

If the Fat Pig is alive, what guarantee that we have that he will not appoint an undercover agent here and look for the next opportunity ?

Apart form that Fat pig is the cause for the rigid command structure we witnessed in the LTTE for years. Therefore it is a must that we break this command structure so that die-ass-pora has to re-organize from the ground up. Without an established leader it would be very hard for die-ass-pora to find another leader

In my opinion dead pig is the best scenario..

/17 SLA killed, 54 wounded, two-pronged SL operation thwarted in Mannaar - LTTE

[TamilNet, Saturday, 22 December 2007, 16:33 GMT]

Liberation Tigers of Tamileelam (LTTE) on Saturday thwarted a two-pronged Sri Lanka Army (SLA) movement towards Uyilangku'lam in Mannaar, Tiger officials at Mannaar Operations Command told media in Ki'linochchi. Backed with heavy artillery and Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher fire, the SLA troops attempted to enter LTTE controlled area on two fronts, but were defeated after 12 hours of stiff resistance in which 17 SLA troopers were killed and 54 wounded. 3 LTTE fighters were killed in action, according to the Tigers.

The SLA operation was launched at 5:40 a.m. and the Tigers said they successfully repulsed the SLA units at 5:20 p.m. after heavy fighting.

Meanwhile, SLA officials in Colombo Saturday noon claimed that they had captured LTTE bunkers. According to the SLA claim only one SLA soldier was killed and six wounded while they put the casualty figure of the Tigers at eight. /

My comment posted at The Daily News

[This article claims to answer the question of "Lasantha...Who killed him?". and you accuse some group associated with the Govt of Sri Lanka of doing it. Yet I see no reasonable evidence presented by you; all is conjecture.

If unsupported conjecture is all you have, I can present a counter conjecture. The GOSL is riding high on a wave of popularity because of its outstanding leadership in the conduct of this war of national liberation. It does not need to silence Lasantha in order to win the upcoming Provincial Elections, or to pursue the war in 2009. This murder is therefore a liability for the GOSL; a liability created by the enemies of the GOSL.

Therefore, we must ask, who would want the GOSL to have such a liability? There are two sets of people: 1. The opposition political parties of the GOSL that would like to discredit the GOSL to prevent a landslide win at the upcoming Provincial Elections, and 2. The LTTE which would like to prevent the consolidation of the victories of the defence forces and its superb management of foreign countries, by bringing down the current GOSL which is the only one in the history of the eelam conflict, that has successfully dealt with both its military and political aspects. It is also possible, that it could also be a combination of these two parties.

Finally, it also puzzles me why the Daily News would publish a completely unsubstantiated accusation such as this article in a reputable newspaper.]

Buddy, many hundreds of ppl have died including SLDF officers from the time of DW's last post. In your logic DW could have any of them. Why did you think it was definitely Lasantha himself?

BTW, FYI, DW made posts after LW was shot. You can speculate whether he typed from ICU, or had a proxy poster in case he gets shot. Nevertheless, some ppl think LW visited this site - I dunno which handle.

DW, I truly respect your self-blockade of info at a very sensitive moment. But I'd appreciate if you can make an update purely on official standings of battle front.

I am telling the weakness of ourselves and people can take that message make a nation stronger.

If you are the person with Buddhist Wisdom, how come you have Asithri the vomiting Sri Lankan under your arm? It is like MR is keeping Mervyn under his belt.

These are confused Sinhalese Buddhist behavior and so anti Anagarika Dharmapala.

Let me tell you something you don't get. You can only sing Dharmapala for the class of 1970s. Most people here are from class of 1990/2000. They have no role model.

Every time I try to say something, you say the same thing on your next post. You are the one trying to dominate the content on the forum from your blind patriotism.
You see my content as a threat for your ego.

If you are so smart, tell me how someone degrade Buddhism?

Dude, you don't get Buddhism. Buddhism is for open minded. Your mind is BLIND. You get only 'Bang' 'Bang' - the voice of the gun.

You wasted SL free education money. You can brag about your life in Peradeniya, that education hasn't created an open minded Engineer out of you.

Read my response few times and imagine Anagarika Dharmapala is talking to you.

Don't brainwash people, you are only helping to create a weaker nation.

This is my take on your response.

I also speculated this may have been done by LW with a limited background knowledge.

I seriously see no reason. DW posted after LW was shot ok?

I get your other point as well that someone is either nervous or in self censorship mode.

I think it should be so. You me or anyone else have no need to know who defected. If we are in such high defense positions the news would already have come to us. How can SLDF dispose any bigwigs after capture if these guys will provide a minute by minute update on proceedings.

So full credit to DW for not revealing any words on top secret. SF@LNP is exposing too much. He tried to code word it, but in fact I myself can read the meaning. So he could have even written it in plain words. I don't agree with him.

The first causality of a war is the truth.

And I say, shoot it. War is not for silver screen or mass media. Hundreds don't die for us to watch it like a game.

In a broad view there is nothing called absolute truth. Truth is also a parameter which can be altered. This is a common fundamental about all media. However if SLDF can alter the parameter called truth to get an advantage I'd say pls do so.

But it has limits. If they sacrificed 1000s and lost camps like Ratwatte did, bought fake bullet proof and did fraud, I think at that point some truth ought to come out. But SLDF should indeed filter and adjust the news in a way it helps them win.

I personally if DW posts will go away from here and publish on a non discussion site. This blog is creating a pro-war culture and people try to create the war as our next religion.

No. This menace of pussycats have created it. And Rightly so. You ought to feel a bit defense sensitive for at least two more decades.

Do you not think that hollywood has created same thing in a bigger scale. Arny and Stalone are criminals as per you.

We're living in a 1000 yr old battle ground. Over population of south India is causing them spread down and capture our land and there is nowhere to go. If we had I think our lads have gone but right now we're choiceless to fight [note that this is an idea of Maskman, my pal in a diff mail group].

What you're seeing is one episode of a never ending tele drama. So, like jews, I think Sinhala have to think little bit on national defence due to that reason.

In the context of today's world order we're bound in a nation called SL, so if we try integrating whoever lives within it and guarding it carefully, that would be enough. We surely have evil forces abroad, so we need to have defense as top priority.

I personally want the war to happen until LTTE is wiped out. I rather not see a LTTE Taliban culture forming within Sinhalese.

I personally want SLDF and SLMI to continue growing and end up as a very strong defense and surveillance unit such that they are capable in thwarting any such attempts at first instance. If we did that in 1983 [again FUCK that JRJ] how little would have died?

SLDF and SLMI should continue in the professional cutting edge for at least another two decades.

I honestly don't mind having a bit of pusycats here and there [and the figurehead in exile] for them to find a reason and testing ground.

Whoa, you can call me also a war mongrel. I don't mind that, but I'm a reactive one.

Puran Appu said...

frackster Bro,

Just Ignore this if you read the Bottom Line today.

>>>During the ceasefire agreement period, the LTTE has been able to smuggle four 200 horse power Honda engines into Mullaitivu, this source revealed. Tiger Chief Prabhakaran had instructed that these four engines be stored safely and continuously maintained but not to be used on any of the boats. These engines had been smuggled via Thailand and together could provide a speed of 200X4, which will amount to 800 horse power. Now, the source revealed, a boat has been built with all four engines fixed on to it. It is a bit larger than an ordinary boat and is being kept at a secret location in Mullaitivu. The way the offensives are progressing, the Tigers may launch this boat into the seas, any moment now, with their leader Prabhakaran and maybe along with some of his leaders and trusted cadres on board. According to another foreign intelligence source, the boat would possibly be escorted by 10 or 15 suicide boats. After reaching the deep seas, the Tiger leader and accomplices may board a cargo vessel and head towards either Thailand or Indonesia. Once near land, they may disembark on to smaller vessels to reach land.>>>

>>>>what is the possibility that he moves south along the coast( such as how their DPU teams move south and ship form somewhere like sampur , yala for that matter where there is relatively less naval presence..>>>>

It's very unlikely bro. Looking at his body, he cant even walk a kilometer.

Why have not they taken the initiative to contact the GOSL before publishing this report.

59th goes straight towards puthu.
55th comes down from chundikulam
53rd goes north from Mula town upwards. All in all 55th and 53rd clearing the shore areas.

that makes sense because 55th and 53rd were stationed at NMK for more than a decade so they are the most experienced fighters in that(sea shore, marshland etc) type of terrain.

Correct. But popular support is organized that way. We're all desperate to know what is happening in front.

BTW, there is a good work that comes out in this collective communication. That is the knowledge building against separatism. There may be 80% garage but other 20% carries messages against separatism and breaking of the myth. These "celebrity" sites provide such ideas the needed broadcasting. So many silent readers together with active debaters. So this would be very helpful.

I hope you are aware of the kind of stuff said during Ranil era. I myself encountered so many sinhala ppl thinking that pussycats are invincible or eelam should be given or something. If they had been in touch with big communities like LNP DW or DN that wouldn't have happened.

Note that if we fully annihilate pussycats next war will be fought in a different context and this kind of communication will play a big role in it.

Of course most of postings mean very little for such cause. You can think of it as a way to keep everyone interested. In teh end of the day very few ideas will be registered in heads.

That is why people are anxious when there are no updates here.

Hmmmm. I agree on this. Ppl need to understand on DW's position. I found it pathetic for them to suspect DW is LW. Why can't ppl leave a topic which was begged to be kept secret.

In DW's part he has an obligation to provide some kind of regular post [like the latest standings of some fronts] in order to keep them ticking. When DW keeps everything silent, ppl talk more about those topics which he wouldn't like them to.

I've been coming here pretty much every hour hoping for a news from DW!!!

if i can put my 2 cents worth?

is there any possibility that SLA/SLN will launch a amphibious landing on Mulathivu with 53? because right now LTTE is surrounded 59 just south of Mulathivu and puthukudiyaappu

sea assault on north section of the lagoon will completely cut off mulathivu(or mula itself) will surprise tigers + with a dash to puthukudiyaappu then pinch the tigers from north/south of the lagooon

Naval Supremacy
Sea tigers NO MORE
LTTE confined to small area = more intel? + if deflection of top tigers then more intel

this will finish of tigers with style

Quote: Sf-3.blogspot.com
http://sf-3.blogspot.com/2008/03/move-on-pooneryn-assault-from-sea.html

To conclude, the failed operation Thrivida Pahara to relieve a besieged MULATIVU base in July 1996 can be brought up to show the importance of achieving the aforementioned objectives during a coastal assault battleplan. A coastal assault was the only way to reinforce the besieged base since it lies in close proximity to the shoreline. Special forces were airlifted from Trincomalee under the leadership of Lt. Col Fazly Laphir to secure a suitable beach head for troops that were just dispatched from KKS. These troops were also carrying vital supplies and were 20 miles away from the target shoreline. Due to heavy guerilla resistance the Special forces team were forced to make a landing 5Km South of MULATIVU at ALAMPIL. From there the team had to track North amidst heavy resistance. The all important naval supremacy for the reinforcing troops failed to exist due to Tamil Tiger sea wing and its homicide wing. One of the homicide boats managed to ram itself against the Shanghai class FGB SLNS Ranaviru killing 36 sailors on board. Due to heavy resistance the naval task force managed their landing only 3 days later and reached the base 7 days later since the raid, which by then the time frame to achieve the overall objective - relieving the siege on MULATIVU with vital supplies - had long gone.

You don't have to tell me about RW. I take pride supporting his defeat. I donated money for a campaign that ran an ad condemning his betrayal of LRRP. At the time most of defenceniks here are crawling on their diaper.

"I myself encountered so many sinhala ppl thinking that pussycats are invincible or eelam should be given or something."

During last 10 years, I sunk into their dens and disrupted most of the one way communications diaspora was doing. I remember we were both getting kicked out of Norwegian and Indian Tamil related sites and I considered that was a success.

Diaspora carefully planned this over long term and planned their people at every possible places from UN to BBC.

Sri Lankan government has been unable to counter that until very recently. About two years ago I requested some videos for youtube and they said they had people on their payrol and they were not passionate enough to come up with their own.

Most people are just making the noise that will have no impact than personal satisfaction. Victory is not just verbally abusing few of the random diaspora here. It comes from our ability to network with people that matters.

Only the 50% of the war is faught in Sri Lanka and rest of them are outside and not certainly on this forum.

Interview with Gota is cool, one important fact that he highlighted was the total lives lost in the battle field (sri lankan soldiers) against the ground lost and gained.

if you compare the figures with Elam wars before this one (I, II, III). I think we have done wonderfully well.

77-94 (JRJ, Premadasa, wijetunga)
7000+ lives lost (SL loosing ground).
94-00 (Chandrika)
10000+ lives lost along with Mula, EPS, Kili etc.
post 2005 (3000+lives lost and LTTE loosing Kili, Pooneryn, EPS, Odusudan)

This is huge progress.. when a war i fought loss of life is in evitable but i feel this time SLA has minimized the risk to their own troops.

May the triple Jem bless all of em..!!

According to another foreign intelligence source, the boat would possibly be escorted by 10 or 15 suicide boats. ....................

Folks, this is indeed huge progress. I think except MBRLs SLA use the same resources. But in MR's war SLA fought with an enemy with highly increased fire power thanks to RW's CFA. Also, LTTE strength had increased from around 10,000 to 30,000 I guess. Further, LTTE had increased naval assets, TAF, and high tech equipments gifted by Norway and NGOs.

While LTTE expanded, advanced and increased in all their sections the same army who ran away from wanni withing 9 days with huge casualties have now regained every thing with least casualties. What's the secret? Every one knows... except Mongal and RW..

great points...
it just that i never knew time of peace in Sri Lanka im stil in early twenties...

its that frustration of living in a time of war all the time even now abroad having my identity questioned having the history distorted for the advantage of few terroristst

it wasn't a question if we going to win or not... it was more like how long? at what cost?

and tbh ive really understood what this war is all about living abroad after meeting tamil friends etc... yet we are still dont talk about it openly for them and for us its painful one way or the other

and i never felt so patriotic about other sinhalese... ignorance and selfishness but now living in abroad i feel so patriotic about my country... and indeed like u said i am doin what i can for my country from here

one thing i am proud is that my aunt serves as SLA nurse since she left school in her late teens to mid 30s and fact i've known so many who served (now retired)

one thing i pray for is that us sinhalese don't take it to the head and think this is a win over tamils!!! because its not its a triumph for peace over terror...

people need to realisee is that war is not just faught in battlefields of Sri Lanka but in every corner from toronto london to melbourne!!! thanks to failures in our foreign missions to take on LTTE propaganda war!!!!!!!

but yes :-) we will triumph beyond the shore of sri lanka because lives of our soldiers would be invain!!!!

[So DW/DN both be closed soon..]

The conventional phase of the Eelam war will be over soon, but the guerilla war and public security issues will remain active for a few more years.

However, the general issue of how the SLDF and a National Guard should be structured to defend Sri Lanka for the next 1,000 years should be the focus of the DefenseWire blog.

I, and a few others, have argued at this blog that the SLDF should be expanded. I have advocated expansion to 500,000 men and the creation of a 4,000,000 man National Guard including every adult capable of bearing arms. In addition, we have explored ways and means of supporting the cost of such a defense establishment and the role it should play in national development and inculcating and maintaining a high level of patriotism among the people of Sri Lanka.

Who, you might ask, are we preparing to defend ourselves against in the future? The answer is: both internal and external enemies. The Eelam struggle is now defeated on the battlefield, but is not permanently eradicated from the minds of the internal enemies of Sri Lanka. Civil discord and guerilla activities will persist in Sri Lanka for a number of years, in an attempt to overturn the impact of the current SLDF victories, and revive the Eelam struggle, with the assistance of the SL Tamil diaspora.

Furthermore, a part of the LTTE will migrate to Tamil Nadu, figuring that Sri Lanka is too tough a nut to crack with Tamils only a minority here. In Tamil Nadu, Tamils are a majority, and given the large number of political leaders espousing the "Greater Dravidian Nation" agenda, they will calculate that they are much more likely to succeed there. It is my belief, that of the 13 or so major separatist insurgencies active in India today, the separatists in Tamil Nadu will produce the first independent state in India.

When an independent Tamil Nadu is born, Sri Lanka must be able to secure and defend its territory against a 70-80 million strong Tamil Nadu which would want to lay claim to an Eelam in Sri Lanka, and incorporate it within the Greater Dravidian Nation. In addition to Sri Lanka, separatism will spill over Tamil Nadu borders into other Indian states with large Dravidian populations such as Kerala, Karnartaka, and Andhra Pradesh, with the goal of converting the entirety of South India into a "Greater Dravidian Nation" independent of India. You have to read South Indian media to appreciate the extent of animosity between the Dravidian and Aryan peoples of India that will drive this process, under the expert guidance of rabble-rousing communal politicians.

I think it will be the beginning of the end of India as we know today; I just hope that the leaders of South India can summon the will and the wisdom to prevent the collapse of Mahatma Gandhi's great vision of a united India.

These are among the military and political threats that Sri Lanka will confront in the future. We must prepare to confront these threats, by anticipating them well in advance, developing a self-sustaining defense force and economic framework, and eliminating our ethnic problems through ethnic integration and demographic ethnic homogenization of the population of our country, to confront them headon and overcome them.

When the current war ends, the role of DefenceWire and DefenceNet should carryover to addressing these issues, that will be critical to the long term survival of Sri Lanka as an independent nation.

You are reading my mind. We shall never be caught again off guard like 1980s again. As for the other reasons for a strong military, I believe that dwindling natural resources shall also be considered. When one side of the world is facing dwindling resources, we have to expect various types of foreign forces trying to meddle with our country. Even though we can't go to war with a super power, we shall prepare our country and mindset to wage a resistance campaign against such forces. In addition, having a formidable military will act as a good deterrent against such unwelcome elements. We have to prepare for the war we will never fight.

Along with the military component, we should strengthen our ties with our ethnic cousins across the bay of Bengal and try to help them when ever we can to preserve the unity of India. In return, security of Sri Lanka will be assured by India in the case of massive threat beyond our capabilities.

/When the current war ends, the role of DefenceWire and DefenceNet should carryover to addressing these issues,../

DN and DW did their part in propaganda and counter propaganda war. Without DN and DW tamilnut, BBC and all other pro-LTTE sites have one horse race.

To continue the war MR need to have public support and blessing. Public support depends on the information (and mis-info) they have. considering this (and looking at what has happened to tamilnut now..) we can easily give credit to DW and DN, also to long ranger and SF. There job happened due to their connections to inside SLDF.

But after the war of course they can continue their work if they want but I don't think it is required under normal conditions. Post war SL need to think about

1. Security
2. Economic progress
3. Political stability
4. Ethnic integration

And yes, we can keep discussing and arguing these stuff - which is good. But DW/DN may not be able to contribute in such a way.

I would say..

Wijayapala can start history blog
Navindran can start economics blog
MD can start defence blog

.... ha ha just kidding...

# But remember guys.. peelaam elements will continue their moda talks as they did for last 30 years on the web and media.. hence we need to do counter propaganda.. we can't simply say its all over.. if we do that without knowing enemy will attack in another weapon.. in another front..

Well articulated write-up as always.

As we know Dravidian movement of India is the route course of Sri Lanka’s misery for last 30 years (which many wrongly argue otherwise) by triggering Tamil separatism and nationalism (Ealam concept) in Sri Lanka. Although India (RAW) is directly responsible for passing the epicenter of Tamil separatism (a sub set of greater Dravidian movement) to our North and East (thanks to our stupid southern politics and resolve of LTTE), had that happened, India knew very well it would have threatened India’s territorial integrity and could have instigated Tamil separatism in India.

What these victories have done so far is to simply put that scenario back to square one. As you have correctly pointed out, India has lot to fear now than before. Because, Tamil/Dravidian movements will gain momentum in Tamil Nadu and political setting is ripe. On the same account, we must acknowledge, if and when Tamil Nadu become the first separate state in India (as you are predicting), it is my view, that would wipe out the Sinhalese race from the planet or voluntarily dissolve in to Dravidian culture.

While acknowledging that it is compulsory to have a strong defense apparatus in the short run (say next 50 years) until we fully stabilize our country that strong defense apparatus alone would not guarantee our existence in a long run. I am of the view we must be smarter than stronger.

As this question would be ours as well as India’s, I would encourage in discussing the full package – including constitutional safeguards, apparatus in the economic and social spheres and more importantly defense/security in a regional setting.

In short the use of force has been attempted throughout our history and failed as a long term solution. Therefore, we know that alone did not yield results. Had that worked we wouldn’t be here discussing, would we? If you analyse carefully prejudice, mistrust and accumulated hurt were the factors underpinning this issue. Wars and conflicts are inevitable outcomes. I think fresh thinking is required in a peaceful Sri Lanka as to – what are the best response mechanisms against “accumulated hurt and prejudice”. Is it the vengeance, force and punishment?

Proposed 4,000,000 National Guard:
Should they carry arms?
Should we wait until they become adults? Can they be young people, before prejudice (a social construct) rooted in their minds?
Can we have interdependent economic/trade frameworks such that corporative existence is more fruitful and forceful than prejudice and accumulated hurt.
