Army suffers temporary setback

The Army suffered a setback last weekend when around 600 hardcore LTTE cadres infiltrated the FDL of the Army's 58 Division from the general area Puthukudirippu North. A group of around 200 cadres who attempted to flank the 55 and 58 were massacred by 3 Special Forces and 2 Commandos after the 55 Division spotted them early on.

Although Military Intelligence had warned of a possible infiltration, the 58 Division had not taken the warning seriously. The 600 member LTTE team was led by Lawrence and Swarnam and around 200 of them had escaped back to LTTE dominated areas after dismantling the 58 FDL. It is believed that the body of Lawrence is among those recovered by the SLA.

A group of around 200 more are still inside SLA dominated areas. Troop movement along the A-9 has stopped due to fear of attacks on soldiers returning on leave. The 58 was unable to bridge the broken FDL until the Special Forces and the 57 Division arrived.

Today a team of Tigers from the infiltration team captured an Army Artillery Gun Position and destroyed 3 130mm canons after turning the guns against the SLA. The Tigers had infiltrated 10-12km into SLA dominated areas to capture the position, which is situated near the former IDP camp in Kilinochchi where a woman suicide bomber blew herself up some time ago.

The Army had 200 casualties on the 7th alone, which included 70 killed. After helping the 58 regroup from its setback, the Special Forces will now hunt the Tigers down, which will be somewhat difficult as they are wearing SLA uniforms and reinforced by weapons and food dumps yet unrecovered by the 58. Many were expecting the LTTE to breach the coast from Nagarkovil to Puthumathalang by sea but the 55 Division had made the coastline unbreachable.

I have gone to several tamil website mostly Pro LTTE they do not want to claim anything as it now because there are heavy casualties for LTTE. It is estimated at 400.

So our forces doing the job. Do not forget this is harvesting. They should fight now. then only we can kill.

DW is praising the 55 and 53 but both divisions were held in Muhamalai and Nagarkovil (in jaffna peninsula) until 58 cut the neck from Paranthan and reached Eliphantpass. only after 58th reached EP only these two other divisions could come forward due to fleeing of LTTE to Chalai area.

If we remember this simple truth, no body has to argue as to what 58th has done.

55th managed to move it's 1st 1km due to 58th involvement. so don't try to fool us DW

It is likely LTTE infiltrators will target Eranamadu tank again. It is high time we empty it before it is too late.

I know you are frustrated. At the end of the day, Sinhalese are cultivating independent minds with freedom of expression.

Just because LTTE folks are silent doesn't mean they are intelligent. After all, they are growing a cancer within their buttocks and hiding it from every one.

I think you walk the fine line between a traitor and a patriot when you talk like that (according to some patriot minds here).

2.have no idea how this arti pad things comes off.these pads are too away from the battle field and you need mas amount of man power to take three of them.
the bad habit of DW(as i sent personally to them)was they thought everything you can hear from the sets are totally correct.two pads are out of use due to over heat and one maul functioned.only thing i know if they able to capture 3 pads they gained control of unbelievable fir power.it can easily kill thousand of our troops.because now sla everywhere in the region

Black Tigers and Kiddu Unit attacked the SLA artillery base in Theravil, Visuvamadhu, on Monday night.

Security was so weak that the team was able to capture the base and fire shells at SLA positions 'till Tuesday morning.

Tigers destroyed the six guns and set fire to the ammunition dump before returning to base at day-break on Tuesday.

Although Black Tigers were involved in the attack, enemy security was scarce; meaning own troops suffered no casualties.

This is bad. SLA can't let these hardcore elements to move from one target to another. In that way they can destroy whole wanni SLA bases.

1. Search and kill before they strike
2. If they strike before SLA kill them SLA has to make them die for their target!!

Challai still under siege.

SLA's 55th Division made another desperate, yet futile, attempt on Wednesday morning.

While 58th Division is in pieces, SLA's special forces have been attempting to break the siege from the rear.

they came from two sides
one they want to breach the defense line which attached to the 58 because thats the only hope.other where ever there is a big chance they get boxed.it is believe that more than 400 carders came.in this time it was and surprise 58 dismantle and banded 1defense line and tigers breached in and trapped.
1.thats true that commandos came but now its SF and COM are super powers.they are good but this time its all about 58 and the reserve
2.so far 124 bodies collected.Lowrance thing total crap we even heard his massages the same day.
3.this attack well planned they even have foods for at least 1 month.in between this MI believes few teams which contain 30-40 breached from the nanthikadal and ptk WN.

Monday night's incident was the first ever case of Tigers capturing artillery guns behind enemy lines and using them to fire at SLA positions.

In the past, Black Tigers destroyed artillery guns in suicide attacks, e.g. Paranthan '98, or captured them during the overrunning of a major SLA garrison, e.g. Killinochchi '98.

1. They know the territory; We don't.
2. Their duty now is to destroy any thing in wanni; This what LTTE do best.
3. They have nothing to defend now. SLA has an entire island to defend.

Now the terms for 'victory' is getting amended. LTTE kill few troops or explode a claymore some where in wanni.. victory for LTTE/ diASSpora...

IF (i mean IF) internal politics was involved, by now the incident should have blown out of proportion. don't you think so???

there is nothing of that sort which means there is no politics as such.

what DW said about the STF was also true.

all these issues come up when things are not going well. but things will fall into place. everyone should learn from mistakes.

i stand by DW unreservedly.

also RAW doesn't want to bail the tigers out this time. RAW is working to the indian NATIONAL agenda. true enough in the late 1970s and early 1980s india and RAW wanted to screw us. but things have changed after LTTE grew out of control not depending on india.

3.if the have the terrains support(As mentioned by ninja)for the last 1 month we are being here.now the area is small and man power density is high for the ltte.they keep reisiting highly.thats understandable.because this is final push.

OK lets imagine like this if you people want to enter Colombo 1.which is garderd by 7000 SLA with latest fire power
2.the defense line is nearly 14 Km long.
3.even have 50000 reserve SLA's.
then how many paths you have and how many people and fire power you need.you do the maths.

yes they can come using kirulapone junc and hit us even for such attack thats never last long.
same scenerio for SLA we want to save civilian which trapped in galle face but the terrorist using this man pad to hit us,
which one is easiest one?

Infiltrations were inevitable. This is why military maneuvers have rearguard action. The divisions that were in reserve can no longer stay so.

In any case infiltrations become meaningless when the brain of LTTE is destroyed. The forward movement should not be stalled, in fact it should gather more pace. As soon as LTTE top ring taken out infltrators will hide their weapons and fade away too.

SLA artillery's had dismantled by tigers. SLA short of ammunition and foods. Tigers on their way up to Kelaniya and some tigers already near kelaniya bridge and heading towrads Kiribathgoda. All these happened due to conspiracy game of 58 and it's leadership.

Diaspora LTTE Supporters: Behold the Murder of Your People Committed in Your Name

More of LTTE brutality: Fleeing civilians shot and hacked to death
March 11, 2009

"We heard gunfire and we knew we were surrounded. Two boats with several dozen people were fleeing from the area and our boat was the third. They (LTTE) came running and directing small arms fire towards us from the coast. Several people fell overboard receiving gunshot injuries, may be they were killed on the spot or drowned. I don't know, but I saw one boat spiraling on the water and within minutes its engine died-off. They are killing us and killing at will".

This was what Soosai Jeyamarasa Jenistan, 20, had to say after being rescued by Security Forces in the shallow waters North of Chalai, while desperately fleeing from LTTE. He now feels fortunate to have defied probable death, hopes to start a new life and return home once LTTE is wiped. Jeyamarasa, his 48 year old father Isador Soosai and the Principal of the Therumurikandy Government School Asirwadan Soosainadar, 42, are among the many others who sought protection with Security Forces on 6thMarch, 2009.

This is just a glimpse of what is actually happening in the non-liberated territory under LTTE occupation. "People are held forcibly against their will in the largest hostage taking of any kind in recent history", a defence observer told our Wanni correspondent.

The crimes perpetrated by LTTE against civilians held captive in this narrow land stretch has gone un-noticed according to what is revealed by those who were fortunate to flee the LTTE clutches. Girls and boys are dragged from temporary shelters to undergo a crash course of combat training and explosives use and turned into suicide bombers, in what LTTE sees as its last line of defence against the advancing security forces.

Men, women and even the elderly are not spared by them. While, children are turned into human bombs their parents are drawn into the forefront armed with clubs, T-56 assault riffles and grenades to shield the rear assault waves of LTTE hardcore cadres. What is more staggering is the blood tax that these innocent people have to pay for this most ruthless outfit of modern times. The food, rations, medicine that are been sent for the stranded civilians by the Sri Lankan government and aid agencies are being forcibly taken by the LTTE. Only a few sacks of grains, flour and a little clean water is left for over 40,000 people who have to struggle with each other for what is left.

"These people are denied of their freedom of choice and taken to the edge of suffering any human can undergo", an aid worker at Vavuniya revealed, commenting on the ground realities in the non-liberated land territory with over 40,000 people hostage.

Continuing with his share of experience of near death from LTTE, Mr. Jeyamrasa, "It was around 11.30p.m, on 6th March, when around 300 of us prepared to flee towards safety from the LTTE in 50 boats. There were many LTTE cadres on guard surrounding the confinement camp. As we outnumbered the guards we made a desperate flee towards the shore and it was at this time LTTE started firing at us indiscriminately. I managed to get onboard a boat along with my family and my brother's. We heard gunfire and we knew we were surrounded. Two boats with several dozen people were fleeing from the area and our boat was the third. They [LTTE] came running, directing small arms fire towards us from the coast. Several people fell overboard receiving gunshot injuries, may be they were killed on the spot or drowned. I don't know, but I saw one boat spiraling on the water and within minutes its engine died-off. They are killing us and killing at will.

Then they [LTTE] started firing at our boat. My brother's son fell inside with a gunshot injury. We stretched as much as possible and started screaming feeling this was the end. We knew what the LTTE would do to us. They did no stop firing. My brother had stopped the engine after his son got wounded. Our boat was drifting and we were awaiting a brutal death from LTTE. This is what they do once you get caught escaping from them. They strangle you to death and make an exhibit of you, triggering fear among others of similar reprisal. With no option left we all urged our brother to start the engine and make at least an attempt to flee. He (brother) started the engine and we were on our way. At this moment LTTE had launched a boat into the waters in pursuit of us. Luckily, our engine was good and we passed even the first boat that took off from the coast. Still we could here gunfire from distance" Jeyamrasa further said.

"As the gunfire sound faded we looked back and saw LTTE boats approaching and slaughtering the rest of the people. The people were fired upon directly. Many jumped overboard into the water. They were pleading for their life but LTTE did not stop firing. They also fired at the people who were along the coast. I've lost count of the people attacked but surely they are not alive by now. It was such a frightening scene to witness. My children are caught in trauma and I don't know how they will recover from witnessing people been killed with such brutality", Mr. Asirwadan also said speaking with our correspondent.

"After fleeing for over 5-6 kms from the LTTE killing range, I looked at my brother's son and he was bleeding severely. A bullet had pierced through his abdomen and the boy was is in extreme pain. Fortunately, we were saved by the military while drifting in the waters off Talaiady and brought to shore and the wounded attended to immediately. We can now make a sigh of relief, but what we experienced back there will haunt us forever. We are in safe hands now and all we want is to go back and start our lives again, after the LTTE deprived us of all", Jeyamrasa further said.

This is just a glimpse of the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the non-liberated territory. LTTE terrorists will continue perpetrating such crimes until it is stopped forever. This is what the so called saviors of 'Human rights', 'unbiased media' outlets and the patrons of the "victim industry" are trying to hide by drawing international attention away from the reality of the LTTE, a defence observer said. Astonishingly, these media barons and HR saviors have shied away from reporting the status of the 15 UN aid workers and their families still held captive by the LTTE through sheer intimidation.

Working hand in hand with LTTE propaganda fronts, these 'un-biased' international and local reporters are making virulent efforts to throw a life line to LTTE now facing its endgame after three decades. This unholy nexus is also making all attempts to scuttle the present military surge with contradictory reporting and fear-mongering about battle and civilian casualties, and all the while concealing what the LTTE does to civilians it is holding by force the 40 sq km it is confined to now."

Dandulena said...

LTTE defeated, says Think-Tank.

an estimated 150,000 civillians are trapped in an ever shrinking space, forcibly held back by the LTTE, the International Crisis Group (ICG)said, EuAsiaNews yesterday.

In a report on Monday, the ICG said the Sri Lankan military has already achieved its military objectives and essentially won the war. The Brussels based think-tank said"The Sri Lankan government must hold off on the final assault to allow adequate supplies of food, water and medical aid to reach the civillian population and let those civillians who wish to leave to do so"

who says the truth DW? We tend to believe this despite your innuendos.

LTTE considerd killinochi as their capital now if you were a battle planner for LTTE what will you defend most killinochi or nachikudah ? so logically its fair to say LTTE used more resources to defend Kili rather than Nachikudah
Hence my assumption 57 faced more tiger force than 58

Now onto 59th as can be seen by the discoveries made during the the last few months the military infrastructure of LTTE was mainly situated in environs of PTK so it is again logically safe to assume that LTTE would be fiercely defending it. If you can remeber at the inception 59 was the only division going at the LTTE in this part of the war theater. The terrain was also mostly jungle which means help from armoured corps/battle tanks would have been
non-existent. There were no roads as such found in other theater of operations to transfer the wounded or to get supplies to the troops I am pretty sure it must have been pretty heavy close qaurter fighting which would have negated the army's superior firepower

Of course the above are assumptions made by me so if you have any other info from military sources i'd love to hear it and revise my assumptions

What do you say mofcker? You come here with genocidal blaming and see who is the real killers of innocent tamil people.

If Sri Lanka Army genocide tamils there will be no more tamil in South. Also by now all Sri Lanka will be united under one flag. If there is no civilians Army could have finish the job within one week. Look why people try to escape from the killing cloutches of LTTE killers. Look their efforts to come to SL Army domiinated areas. If LTTE so good why are they coming with holding death warrant given them to by force by LTTE. Think .

Have you got a brain to think?

If not sorry

If not I just say sorry to all peelamists who dont have brain.

Civilian,

Don't try to defend killers of your nation. You can only do that if your illigitimate son of a white norwaygian. If you are true son of real tamilian you cannot see this crime done by LTTE killers to your nation.

LTTE has fighting with SL Army for three decades. What have you gain so far? Only some of you got refugee status. Look back what's happening to your innocent people.

BE WISE

Come forward against the real killers.

GOOD JOB SIR DOUGLAS W, THANK YOU
FOR REVEAL THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH BEFORE PEELAMIST DOMINATED BBC.

Ronald Burke says genocide blamed on Sri Lanka by LTTE ‘an expression exceedingly going too far’

by Walter Jayawardhana

Ramanan Sri Padmanadan opening the debate for the LTTE said Sri Lanka had been three countries at the time of the Portuguese invasion and it was they who had merged the Tamil homeland with the Sinhala maritime areas.

Ronald Burke, BBC’s former Colombo correspondent making an appearance in a radio debate between the Sri Lankan and pro-Tamil Tiger parties in London and answering a question whether there was any truth in the charge by pro-LTTE section about a ‘genocide’ in Sri Lanka, said it was exceedingly an ‘expression going too far’.

Burke said undoubtedly some civilians were getting killed in the war, but the allegation about genocide was not true. But Burke protested the inability of journalists to see what was happening inside the war zone.

The debate between the two Sri Lankan groups was moderated by popular broadcaster Nihal for the BBC’s Asian network.

One side was represented by the President of the Sinhala Association of London, Douglas Wickramaratne and the PRO-LTTE side was represented by Ramanan Sri Pathmanadan.

But during the debate, Sri Pathmanadan had to accept that the child soldiers conscripted by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the suicide bombing commited by them were two indefensible acts.

Douglas Wickramaratne replying to charges of discrimination, said what Eaton and Oxford educated Bandaranaike had done was only replacing English, spoken only by six percent of the people, the elite of the Sinhalese and the Tamils, with Sinhalese as the State language, which was understood and spoken by eighty percent of the population. He also introduced reasonable use of Tamil immediately after the Sinhala Act. This upset mostly the Tamil elite who had become an over-privileged sector of society due to the divide-and-rule policy of the British imperial government, Wickramaratne said.

Today, both Sinhalese and Tamil languages had become state languages of the country, said Wickramaratne adding that Sri Lanka was the only country in the world, which had given such recognition to the Tamil language. Sri Lanka provided education to all Tamil children, free of charge, in their mother tongue from kindergarten to the university. No other country did so, Wickramaratne said.

Ramanan Sri Padmanadan opening the debate for the LTTE said Sri Lanka had been three countries at the time of the Portuguese invasion and it was they who had merged the Tamil homeland with the Sinhala maritime areas.

The British had brought the countries together and given independence in 1948 thus paving the way for the present-day problems, he opined.

He advocated separation as a solution and when questioned on the wisdom of it, changed his position to devolution. But the LTTE had not accepted any devolution offficially.

Pathmanadan denied any over- privileges for the Tamils under the British imperial government, but said since there were more English schools in Jaffna, the Tamils were able to educate themselves better and get more jobs.

Douglas Wickramaratne argued that because of this position, a kind of apartheid had been in practice against the Sinhalese.

While admitting that child conscription was indefensible, Pathmanadan asked what the LTTE could do if a child wanted to join it on his or her own. However, UNESCO has stated that the children do not have the right to go soldiering. Even their parents, according to the United Nations, do not possess the right to give away their children for the war. The young Tamil debater was unaware of it. UN reports also say children are abducted by the LTTE.

Even today, the Sinhalese were discriminated against in their own country, despite being the majority, Wickramaratne charged. Under a law introduced by the Dutch, the Sinhalese could not buy land in the Northern Province. The Sinhalese could not receive education in the Jaffna or Eastern Universities because the LTTE killed any Sinhalese going there to learn, he said. But Tamils, about 60 percent of them, were able to live in the Sinhala majority areas and buy land, he argued.

Pathmanadan, not knowing that in the country, there was no system that discriminated against Tamil students entering universities currently, said that such a discriminatory method was being practised and Tamils had to obtain more marks to enter universities. Wickramaratne flatly denied the statement.

Wickramaratna said 40,000 Sinhalese and 100,000 Muslims had been chased out of Jaffna by LTTE leader Prabhakaran, who practised ethnic cleansing.

When the moderator asked whether Pathmanadan was not troubled by those acts of violence, Prabhakaran blocking the path to peace and the LTTE being banned as a terrorist organization by so many countries, Pathmanadan said he was supporting the LTTE since it was the only party that stood for the aspirations of Tamils.

Douglas Wickramaratne said the LTTE should seek the Tamil homeland in Tamil Nadu, where 70 million Tamils lived. He said there had never been separate states in Sri Lanka’s history and for more than 2,000 years, it had been run as one state and what Pathmandan had been referring to were regional administrations under one emperor in ancient times and not different states. He said the LTTE was spreading a baseless rumour that was those who escaped to the government-controlled areas had to live in ‘concentration camps’.

But the fact was, said Wickramaratne that Sir John Holmes of the UN and many ambassadors of foreign countries hadexpressed complete satisfaction with the welfare centres for the displaced people. The LTTE sent suicide bombers even inside those civilian centres to target the fleeing civilians and as such they had to be protected well.

By C. Bryson Hull

(Reuters) - Sri Lankan troops are fighting the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) separatists in a war zone now measuring just 37 square km (15 square miles) and are confident of winning a conflict that is Asia's longest-running.

Here are some questions and answers about what happens now:

IS THE END OF THE WAR NEAR?

As far as a conventional war goes, definitely. The military has the Tigers surrounded with their backs to the Indian Ocean. The army has nearly five full divisions at the front, and nearly four holding at the rear. In terms of numerical superiority and armaments, it's hands-down on the government side. There are at least 50,000 soldiers against what the military says are around 1,000 hardcore, well-trained Tiger fighters. There are also other irregular fighters, either forcibly pressed into service or loyal to the LTTE.

HOW FAST WILL IT FINISH?

That is difficult to say. The army commander in overall charge of the war zone, Major-General Jagath Jayasuriya, told Reuters recently that taking the last territory was a one-day job if civilians weren't there. But that's the rub: there are tens of thousands of civilians there. Nearly all are inside a 12-km coastal strip no more than a half-kilometer wide, which the army declared a no-fire zone. The government says no more than 70,000 are there while the Red Cross says there are 150,000. The numbers are actually immaterial -- the fact is people are there and are the LTTE's final trump card.

ARE THE TIGERS STILL IN THE FIGHT?

Yes. The Tigers appear to have saved their best-trained fighters for the last battles, and have attempted several counterattacks and infiltrations into army-held areas. The military said it killed 195 of them this weekend during a wave of last-ditch assaults. But the military is confident of wiping them out completely, and has not failed to achieve any of its objectives since launching its offensive against the LTTE in August 2006. The only one left? Victory.

WHAT ABOUT THE LTTE'S LEADERS?

The commander of the army's 58th Division, Brigadier Shavendra Silva, recently told Reuters all the known second-tier LTTE leaders "are in the no-fire zone. It's not a rough idea, it is a clear idea." The LTTE commanders have been repeatedly monitored on the radio. The military now says it suspects leader Vellupillai Prabhakaran is there too, but says he has remained off the radio and his precise location is unknown.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE GROUND WAR?

The military says it expects some LTTE fighters to hide among civilians for a time, then begin carrying out hit-and-run attacks. They will collect weapons from caches believed hidden all over northern Sri Lanka. Soldiers are busy looking for those, and the army's commander has said his troops are ready for any counterattacks. The Tigers are also likely to keep carrying out suicide attacks all over the island, like one that killed 14 people and wounded 35 on Tuesday outside a mosque. That will be a much more difficult tactic to counter, security analysts say.

You will realize how well the Tamils live in Sri Lanka enjoying much more privileges than the Sinhala majority even after Sri Lanka gained independence from the British rule in 1948.
The objective of the Tamil diaspora is to retain those unproportionate powers given by British rule to them even under the current democratic system. This has resulted in the current crisis in Sri Lanka.

RE:BloggerDefence (me)

I know you'll (we) have been fooled before by bloggers and blogs.I think Mahen was the pioneer. He was the first to use the tactic of appearing as a member of the of the opposite side and taking them on a ride.(that was nicely done though).Thats not the point. You think I am also a person like that. But Its alwys good to be altert coz afer Mahen there is a good possibility of similar threats.Back to the topics. So I thought of aswering youll a few points(Qs) forwarded by Sujeewa.

I want to highlight a few points b4 that

1.No one has to trust me or give me your personal information.Authors, just give me your email you use at Dw which doesnt have ur personal info

2.If u find my blog useful read it if not dont.\thats all.

"However, what assurance do we have that BD will not use the cover of our great news sources in order to spread pussycat myth, cooked news and propaganda? Just think."

this is really not an issue because Im not going to post my own info coz i dont get any.If I ever post nad if the bloggers feel its not good, you can ask to remove that or simple resign from coauthorship and so on...

1. Cheap advertising: Like "Puran is in, who's next??"

Sorry bout that.I know it was cheap advertising.I jst wanted the guys to accept the invitation.

"2. Dangerous alliance: BD is yet to form anything. Some have already jumped the gun to praise him. Why is that, unless they know his plans in advance?"
I cant do anything about this. You will just have to wait and see.If i appear as a terrorist or anyone you dont like simply stop reading my blog ,co authors can stop posting. You know a blog like this is no value without readers ad authors.....

"3. Similar past events: About few weeks ago someone called CJ started "leaking" battle front news. Initially they sounded very much SLDF friendly. But we were skeptical. When I said that I heard some rumors on the PTK attack on 59th, he wanted me to vomit them. I strictly refused to state rumors in the public site. In a couple of weeks we found that CJ was a die hard pussycat [by his mistake]. If we believed him initially I'm sure he would try to take us little by little towards his propaganda target"

this is what I said at the beginning.Mahen.....

"I am sure to get many blames for this aggressive comment on BD. I will not be wasting a lot of time replying. I wanted to raise a point, but it is upto the public to interpret in their desired manner."

Dont worry I dont blame you.your suspicion was fair.

BTW I dont think I got the support and the backup from the guys.Maybe you'll dont need this service or the you guys dont believe me.My co authors are also not posting anything. So I dont know whether I will be able to continue this.Ill wait for some time and see.I would like to know what the guys think.Like a poll.Youll want me to close shop or continue???

thank you,

Civilian! There is no use in pleading Sinhalese about our plights. Selvanayagam and our other politicians spent enough time in pleading and expressing our plights in terms of non-violence. Only after that we felt the only language Sinhalese understand is Weapon. Mao said our enemy decides what weapon we have to take.

So arm struggle and independence is the ONLY way left for us by Sinhalese. We have two choice: die or win the war. So don't complain with them. Their ear will listen only one frequency: WAR.

Is it not possible that the terrorist (about 200 as you said) who infiltrated to SLA side,
1) include high rankings?
2) That they have already moved to south and waiting to make disasters?
If half of them succeed in their targets the country will go back to square one.

From LankaGuardian:-
Paranoid SCOPP castigates Andrew Dismore MP
Wednesday, March 11, 2009 Leave a Comment
By Rajasingham Jayadevan

(March 11, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Official Website of the Sri Lankan Government’s Secretariat for Co-ordinating the Peace Process (SCOPP) has become a body that is involved in revengeful negative campaign to condemn anyone making critical comments about Sri Lanka. The SCOPP which works under the theme of ‘Peace Sri Lanka’ has jettisoned its mission of peace building and is currently engaged in a vitriolic campaign against persons and organizations critical of the government agenda on the war in the north of Sri Lanka.

SCOPPS officials mandate confirms:

Vision : To act as the cutting edge of the Government of Sri Lanka to consolidate and strengthen the peace process on behalf of all Sri Lankan citizens, whilst promoting a negotiated settlement to the current conflict.

Mission : To develop confidence in the peace process and its potential benefits for all Sri Lankan citizens, whilst building up an institution that is equitable and acts in the national interest of all our people, and is accepted as such.

Whilst peace process is being coffined and buried in the war front in the north, the SCOPP is struggling to cope without a new mandate and is engaged in the propaganda activities to strengthen the Defense and the Foreign Ministries of Sri Lanka.

In its latest hard hitting and insinuating statement SCOPP has castigated the British parliamentarian Andrew Dismore MP for writing about Sri Lanka in ‘The Guardian’. As a constituent of Andrew Dismore MP for Hendon constituency and as a Tamil concerned for the welfare of my brethrens in Sri Lanka, I am compelled to respond to some of the issues taken to task by the SCOPP.

The SCOPP in its opening sentence reflects its anger towards Andrew Dismore MP by stating that he is a ‘Labour Member of Parliament for an obscure suburb in Northwest London’. For SCOPP’s information, I am neither living nor Andrew Dismore MP representing an obscure suburb constituency somewhere in London. The constituency I live in and represented by Andrew Dismore MP positively reflects the cosmopolitan character of London embracing freedom of speech, mutual respect, democratic empowerment, socio-political-economic wellbeing, anti-bullying etc of its constituents.

Without knowing the composition of his constituency, ridiculing it as an ‘obscure suburb’ is clearly a sentiment expressed in anger and frustration. Area-wise Hendon is a fairly large constituency which constitutes prominent places like an historical air force museum and the leading police training school. I invite the Head of SCOPP Prof Rajiva Wijesinghe to visit the constituency when he comes to London next time. I shall be pleased to drive him around, if he wishes to have a first hand experience of the constituency to come out of his obscurity as I am no stranger to him.

I have known Andrew Dismore MP since 1996 and have my high regard and respect for his principled stand on the crisis facing Sri Lanka. He abhors terrorism in all forms and does not shy away from criticizing state repression against its citizens. Very seldom one comes across persons in this day and age to assert the principle of ‘right of self determination’ of the people and Andrew is someone who upholds this principle as a moral authority, without any fear on behalf of the suffering minorities in Sri Lanka.

In its response, SCOPP attempts to sit on moral high ground by accusing the LTTE of not permitting the people to leave the fighting zone. By deliberately suppressing the reality that both LTTE and the government forces have become a burden for the innocent civilians the SCOPP singularly blames the LTTE. The LTTE of course is culpable of deplorable acts of human rights violations and the government too is not an angel and is heavily engaged in a terror campaign against its own people by using heavy weapons in an arbitrary manner. This is whilst the media and the international agencies are heftily muzzled and a culture of violence let loose against those attempting to reveal the truth about the war effort.

SCOPP castigates: ‘the LTTE has long trampled on the rights of the Tamil community’ in an insincere manner without understanding even those Tamil opposing the LTTE will state the rights of the Tamil people were systematically and meticulously stampeded by the successive governments since independence in 1948. This had given birth to the brutal LTTE which has caused further harm and distress to the Tamil people. LTTE has become a bogie story for the government to sideline any effort to resolve the conflict politically and failures of Sri Lankan governments are now conveniently and effectively passed on to the LTTE in the systematic process to further marginalize the Tamils.

The SCOPP statement appears to take a simplistic approach by only blaming the LTTE for the murders of the Tamil people. If the successive governments had judiciously dealt with the state violence against the Tamil people since 1958, the genocidal magnitude of the government efforts against the Tamils would not have taken place. The LTTE too would not have been on this earth. The Tamil militancy did not start with the LTTE. It has its roots with the youth wing of the Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF), the leading Tamil democratic party in the 1970’s and early 1980’s. The terror campaign by the state against the TULF made the youngsters feel that they can only achieve their political rights by an armed struggle.

If the government of early 1970’s had not introduced the standardization policy to curtail the entry of Tamils to the state universities in a racially provocative manner, youngsters of my age would not have taken arms to fight the government. Further when the police went on the shooting spree to disturb the peaceful ITC (International Tamil Conference) public meeting in Jaffna in the early 1970’s it deepened the frustration of the Tamil youth. If the government had acted sincerely and dealt with the callous murders of the innocent Tamils and provided justice to the victims at that time, we would not have experienced the impunity the politicians, the government forces and the secret services are overwhelmingly enjoying at present.

The SCOPP reflects its anger on Andrew Dismore MP for raising the issue of using cluster bombs by the government forces. The cluster bomb is something that is debated since the Jayasekuru operations of the government forces to take control of Jaffna peninsula in 1996. The government has not permitted any unconstrained sources to visit the war zones to independently repudiate this claim and wants everyone to swallow and digest its defense ministry news on the conduct of the war.

Even if cluster bombs are not used, there is ample evidence the army is using modern multi-barrel guns on civilian targets which are equally lethal and has the multi effect like the cluster bombs. The multi barrel guns are not like target missiles and they are fired arbitrarily into the LTTE controlled area where civilians are also becoming victims. These multi barrel guns of course will have the devastating effect on the civilian population and it is used by the so-called responsible government against its own citizens who have nowhere to turn except to face death and destruction in the arbitrary firing by the forces.

It is sad to note an organization that should co-ordinate the work on peace in Sri Lanka is indulging in issues contrary to its mission. Even if peace efforts are sidelined by the government’s war effort, the SCOPP can play a laudatory role by bringing peace between the government and the opposition parties to put together a bipartisan agreement to bring durable peace in the country. It can also strengthen the hands of the All Party Representative Committee currently dealing with the political proposals to resolve the conflict through constitutional means without aligning with the bullish and war mongering Defense and the Foreign Ministries. -Sri Lanka Guardian}

The final paragraph is quite relevant.
This i believe is coming from a moderate tamil to a moderate sinhalese.
