Pottu's capture sounds like a canard floated by the pro-LTTE lobby to try and create a rift between India and SL. After all, if the story abt Pottu falling from grace is a fct, they have nothing to lose and everything to gain from such a situation. The underlying assumption would be for India to surmise that if SL doesn't hand over pottu, then they may not do so with Velu either.
Looking at it from a political perspective, a captured live pottu or velu causes more trouble and expense to the Indian govt and tax payer than them dead. Similarly for SL, it would become an admission of its inferiority to India, having to hand over criminals who caused much more damage to us, to someone else.

I thought pottu had a strong conviction and that he'd never give in. May be I was wrong. It looks as if when the determined youth grow up, get married, have their own children and get used to the everyday comforts they loose their focus. yeah, he said that there was a crisis among the tiger leadership and that everything will be alright once that is sorted out and they will go on to retake jaffna. he was asking someone to be patient and hang in there until then.

One time he announced that Muliyawel was captured, two days after defence.lk made the announcement. Then he talked about the capture of Kilinochchi a month before it was actually happened. Devananda, leader of the Eelam People’s Democratic Front and Social Services and Social Welfare Minister, said Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam chief Vellupillai Prabhakaran will be weakened by the death of Pottu Amman.
“The only way to bring an end to the LTTE is to kill its head of intelligence Pottu Amman, since he is the person who guides LTTE leader V Prabhakaran and others in the organisation,” Devananda, a vocal critic of the Tamil Tigers who had been the target of four assassination attempts in the past, told the Colombo Post newspaper.
“The problem lies with Prabhakaran and Pottu Amman. Pottu Amman is everything for the LTTE. It will be shaken if not for him. He has so much craze for blood,” he said.
Devananda said he was of the view that the government forces could kill both Prabhakaran and Pottu Amman since it managed to kill the outfit’s political head S P Thamilchelvan.
“LTTE could be defeated only by eliminating its leadership,” he said.
“People in Vanni (LTTE-held northern area) are disappointed but helpless. Intelligence information is being provided to the government by the people. This shows how disappointed they are,” said the militant-turned politician.

I am hearing from a source in SL that Pottu Amman has gone silent. What ever that means.
I an speculating two things. 1) He surrendered to SF because Vesapillai was on his a$$, 2) He got the same treatment that Mahattaya got back in the day.
A couple of weeks ago Sunday Times or Daily Mirror said that Pottu was replaced as head of LTTE intel wing by Vesa's personal security.
Either way, if we have Pottu, we should not announce it until we get as much info from him as possible. He could shed light on LTTE sleeper cells in Colombo and also expose those under LTTE payroll. He is a goldmine for MI.
If it is true, what I dont understand is why would someone who is wanted by India/SL hand themselves knowing that he may never see the light of day.

New rumors say that Soosai and Sornam are preparing to surrender with 1000 cadres. Once again these are just rumors. But this could explain the fire-fight that is supposed to have occured within the LTTE ranks recently. Maybe VP ordered to kill the cadres of Sornam and Soosai.

Special Force character in LNP is not always reliable. He said the Kili was captured weeks before we actually moved in. He later said that elements of Commando and Special Forces have been in the city. These guys were in kili way before we even went close to the earth bund.
Mahen also has a history of cooking up stories. But usually they are pro-LTTE. Since this is not pro-LTTE I'm not sure what to make of it.
Its no secret that MI has been working behind the scenes to get a defection/s so I wouldn't completely rule this off.
I guess time will tell whether this is just Mahen's and SF's imagination or whether Poddu Amman actually defected.

If you and your people want to win.... Work WITH the government and the leaders... not AGAINST them.
There's no room for any ADDITIONAL 'aspiration', 'identity' or 'self-determination' in Sri Lanka.
