Paranthan fell to troops today following a surprising pre-dawn strike led by 2 Commando, 10GR etc. troops of the 58 Division. By this evening, the entire area was cleared.
Several successive waves of attackers, led by LTTE's Kilinochchi Military in-charge Velavan was beaten back. The open terrain and Villu that lay between troops and the well defended LTTE fortifications were suddenly crossed in the darkness of the morning.
The last attack came this evening. 8 bodies of Tigers were recovered. The attackers were mainly from the Imran Pandian unit, which is led by Velavan.
With this latest defeat, Muhamalai will become untenable for the LTTE. Troops now have the opportunity to attack Kilinochchi from the north and the northeast. That town too is expected to fall in January.

The fall of Kilinochchi is imminent as the security forces have already entered into the Kilinochchi town perimeter from the northern, southern and western edges of Kilinochchi town, defence sources in battlefront said.

LTTE is running out of options. What would be their exit strategy? To keep the morale of the followers, they will claim to make a comeback after lying low for a while. However, it will be very hard to 'lie low' in the island. There will be more than strength in the forces and the paramilitary to seek and destroy even from the deepest of jungles of Mulativu. The civilian support will cease as they lose grip. No more income locally from various business ventures. Even though some claim the LTTE will resort to guerrilla warfare, this is unlikely to last long.
Their only hope is moving overseas. An 'Eelam govt' in exile from UK has already been discussed. However the EU and other countries will not encourage a banned teror org in their soil. Tamil Nadu is out of the question. Prabakran and the top brass will flee to a country with a supportive diaspora and where it still hasnt been banned. Therefore it has to be somewhere like South Africa, Fiji even Australia where LTTE is still not proscribed.
Prabakran is a coward and he will not want to die or commit suicide. He will try to escape most probably via Mulativu seas across to somewhere like Thailand then onwards to Australia where he may seek political asylum. During late 80s Balasingham was smuggled out of Vanni to Thailand then to UK. They may chose to fly out, but this may be considered to risky. If they do fly out, they may take a sea plane somewhere close to Male and from there to South Africa.

LTTE will be making a mistake if they even consider using chem-bio-nuclear. If they do, Indian military will get involved and quicken their demise. India and other superpowers will not take a risk with a non-state actor involved in WMD regardless of any local ethnic sensitivities.

Your scenario is possible, but unlikely in my opinion.
My guess is that he will go to Tamil Nadu, where he enjoys support at the highest levels, and at the lowest level. I believe his advance guard went there in those boats found abandoned on Tamil Nadu beaches, to prepare for the move. I expect multiple hideouts/safe houses with cover stories and support networks have already been setup. He may already be there.
However powerful the Central Govt. of India is, people from outside the state will not be able to overwhelm the broad-based local support, led by Karunanhidi, Ramadoss, Vaiko, Thirumavalavan and others. The real danger to VP in TN will be from Congress party supporters like Jayalalitha, who want to use this lever to eject Karunanhidi and the DMK from power. I expect the presence in TN of VP to pose a real threat to lives of Jayalalitha and other AIADMK and Congress party leaders, especially in the context of the upcoming national elections in India. I expect multiple assasinations, orchestrated by VP if he succeeds in establishing himself.

If he tries hard enough, I guess he can survive anywhere. He may chose TN. The things that are working against him are organisations such as RAW which has tentacles running everywhere. His support mainly come from one side of politics, namely MDMK and low caste parties. AIDMK and many other influential parties will want to punish him for killing Rajiv. Therefore he may have around 50% chance of getting caught. Whereas, he does not have any enimies who hate him enough to kill him in places like South Africa.

The school I studied until grade 5, the St.Theresa Girls school, is just located 400 m away from Karaddipokku junction where my family still owned few stores. From Karaddippoku junction, you can see two movie theaters, one is Parasakthi theater which is only 800 m away from the junction towards in the "vaddakkachi" road and "Eastwaran" theater is just 50m from the junction.
One beautiful city is in the hands of racists now.

If a Bio-weapon is released in the Vanni, the worst affected would be the SL Tamil population. It is very difficult to localize the application of such weapons, or control its spread to friend and foe given their temporal persistance characteristics. Also, that would end all support of any kind for the LTTE, even in Tamil Nadu, and launch a worldwide hunt for him by every national and international security agency.
While the GOSL should investigate this, I would recheck your original reference to Pushchin. How did you identify that city...on the basis of distance only? Please recheck.
If flying distance is the sole criterion, and Chem-Bio connection is speculation, then this could be only an escape route distance calculation for VP and his close cohorts.

Guys just heard Army commanders comments.He said dat forces has moved as 2km closer to EPS.That means while they were marching towards Kili a nother bunch have been moving northwards..DW any comments about this?
