All quiet on the battlefront

Today was a day of closure in the LTTE's violent saga. However, some interesting developments can be expected within the next day or two from the Eastern Province as Ram and Umaram and their teams are traced down.

The two leaders moved their families to the north soon after their split with Karuna in 2004. Their fate may be revealed in due course as more bodies are recovered from the battlefield.

As reported by the media, LTTE's former police and 'political wing' chief and chief spokesman Nadesan, his family, Pulidevan and his family and Ramesh and his family have all died and their bodies discovered by the Special Forces.

There were rumours that the two leaders had gone down on their knees and begged the Special Forces at which point they assumed the Special Forces to smile and let them go.

Rumours are that Prabhakaran's entire family was dead. These rumours indicate that even Prabha's daughter, Duharga was there at the scene. Until otherwise indicated by the government, at this moment in particular, their bodies are nowhere to be found.

Other leaders like Lawrence, Karikalan, Ilanthirayan, Papa, Sempian etc are also dead. Their bodies might also be discovered in due course.

The chief of the LTTE's Mine-laying unit and a chief innovator of the Jhonny Mine and other deadly IEDs has died having lost both his legs in a mysterious blast. The LTTE's chief of smuggling with India and the deputy of the international procurement units (not Castro) have also died.

Meanwhile the last batch of the 80,500 civilians rescued after the final operation on the 15th were dispatched to Vavuniya today. With this the total number of civilians rescued is a staggering 350,000.

Again, Hilary Clinton got money from the LTTE fronts in the US (I do not know how much she returned after Sri Lanka's protest), and Obama got his exclusive "Tamils for Obama" led by LTTE God Father of USA - the brothers who are behind Kadiragamar's killing, who also run the LTTE front: TAG and Bruce Fein affair.

Hilary's ambition is to be the first female President of USA, and thinks that supporting the underdog LTTE scum would bring her hoards of 'minority' votes.

I think Hilary should be focusing on settling her near $30M debt of her campaign than pushing the agenda of LTTE lobby.

On the other hand, UK supported USA on Iraq and Hilary may see her barking as a support for Milband.

Well Hilary, you are betting on a real losing horse!!!

Obama is soft enough for terrorists in average American people's minds. I am sure that the Average American do not want anything softer!

So, Hilary beware!

When you sleep with terrorists, you have to wake up with their ticks!

Against: There are around 200 countries in this world. But the so called IC consisting of the following 6 countries, plus USA. Why they are against us is understood.

1.United Kingdom of Great Britain
2.Canada,
3.France,
4.Germany,
5.Switzerland
6.Northern Ireland,

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

What is the reason for the following 6 countries to be against us?

1.Bosnia and Herzegovina,
2.Chile,
3.Mexico,
4.Netherlands,
5.Slovakia,
6.Slovenia,

@ Italy: Why Italy against us? Italy helped a lot in sharing int. info. and also arresting number of fundraisers.

Abstaining:1.Argentina,
2.Gabon,
3.Mauritius,

4.Republic of Korea,
5.Japan,
6.Ukraine.

Why did Japan abstain who is supposed to be our friend?

S. Korea also supposed to be our friend.

It seems these two countries were subject to western influence over us.

Why did Ukraine abstain? they even provided us weapons and close to Russia.

I agree with Hemantha!

We should never ever support any kind of terrorist!

..and we do not need to teach any nation a 'lesson' in a bad way!

It is totally enough that we taught the whole world how to defeat ruthless terrorists, and how to do the world's largest rescue operation with minimum civilian casualties.

.. we have lot to do in our hands than focusing on teaching lessons to anyone.

.. and other than being an Economic Power, we should not focus on anything else.

.. the biggest fight we have with is eliminating poverty and uplifting the living conditions of our peoples!... we should dedicate our next twenty years solely for that purpose!

The LTTE has now been completely defeated but we still have traitors amidst us. On 14 May, the State Intelligence Service (SIS) achieved a major victory by dismantling an LTTE terror network centered in Colombo by arresting ‘Giri’, a Tiger intelligence leader, after an extensive investigation.

-------------------------------
The biggest threat to MR/GR/SF in the future would come from this type of Rogue Military officers or our Underworld who is connected to the LTTE. These MFs has no sense of duty to their mother land.

Hope the army guy would get the same treatment as the killers/molester of children gets in SL. The military should give them proper punishment after getting all the information from them so that other officers would not consider this type of acts in the future.
Not dealing with these type of people properly would encourage others as well

Superb result at the UNHCR. Kudos to the entire team.

Here's my take on why the following countries voted against SL.

Because they are client states of the UK/EU/US & NATO.

Bosnia and Herzegovina:
They depend on NATO for their continued survival. Nato biatch.

Chile:
Old ally of UK.

Mexico:
USA's biatch. Currently engaged in a JVP-style vicious war against its drugs gang. Headless corpses, that sort of thing. Lectures SL on the USA's orders.

Netherlands:
A country so enfeebled and pathetic, their troops stood by whilst the Serbs perpetrated the Srebrenica massacre. NATO/UK/US biatch.

Slovakia:
Owes its continued existence and economic survival to the EU & NATO. Double biatch of EU/NATO

Slovenia:
Owes its continued existence and economic survival to the EU & NATO. Double biatch of EU/NATO

Italy:
EU/NATO biatch.

Ninja,
Out of the 12, all except for Mexico and Chile are part of EU and have to toe the party line.

Bosnia and Herzegovina, well apart from being under EU control, they do have their own historical agenda of separatism.
The 6 who abstained from voting can be considered friends in disguise. They are considerably under pressure as is the EU.

The pressure comes from none other than US. If you read recent articles, you would know that this is all about the Great Game in the Indian Ocean. The US wanted to keep the pot boiling in SL to permit it a foot hold (by coming magnanimously to the aid of SL- at a time of its choosing- after ensuring India is in the bag). It also wanted to limit the Chinese influence.

US does not mind sharing the World with China and India but on its own terms.

Defeat of RW put the cat among the pigeons. US State Department made the next mistake in snubbing MR. This and Indian reluctance pushed MR more towards the Chinese camp. MR very quickly learnt to balance China and India and get their support (consolidation with India is to be seen in near future). Essentially, MR would have liked to have played the Great Game by making this strategic island (on his own term) available (in terms of its hospitality) equally to all 3 powers. But now the US has only got crumbs.

This will make the big boy angry and he will throw tantrums. But he has more to worry in the home front. Some states are reasserting their right to secession.

I disagree that we should not go further on these matters. The INGO vultures who attempted to degrade SL should not forgotten. The reason they have done it (as has been clarified) is to hide their own culpability in tolerating Human Rights violations by LTTE. They need to be pursued relentlessly by SL or a Civil Umbrella Organisation. Diaspora collaborators need to face the same fate. Countries who attempt to batter SL but have a History of Crimes in SL (Netherlands, UK and Portugal) must be made to understand that actions will be taken in the International Arena if they do not lay off (Prior to that SL should persuade some countries to bring in Responsibility to Apologise and Compensate resolution at the UN).

Why do I think so?
Well, it is like a Test Match of Cricket. You do not take pity on your opponent. You grind them to the ground until victory is certain. We have completed the First Innings.

In the First Innings the Eelamists batted first. The Game began in the post WWI era. They gave us a battering to start with but were slowed down by the spin merchants, SWRD and JRJ bowling in tandem.

Then came our turn to bat. It started slowly, again with JRJ and Preme, the openers having great trouble, and CBK capitulating. Then came Mahinda the sheet anchor who stayed till the Innings was finished ably assisted by his brother (SLDF symbolically included). The bowlers did not een have to bat. The first innings lead is such that we expect to finish the match by bowling the opposition out (if not a nice easy stroll by the two Mahindas finish it off in a few overs and a few boundaries). Let me introduce you to the opening bowling team:

1) Dayan Jayathileke
2) Rajiva Wijesinghe
3) Palitha Kohona (Paul Rifle of SL)
4) (the secret weapon- the "Mossad" of SL)

If these guys need a rest then the "spinners" will be brought out.

It is game which is 90 years old. Another 10 to go.

Sikhs succumb to casteismExpressBuzz.com
May 27, 2009

The outbreak of violence in Punjab following the attacks on the two topmost leaders of the Sikh sect Dera Sach Khand in Vienna was an inevitable fallout of the subterranean casteist tensions that have long been brewing in the community. These antagonistic sentiments between the Jat Sikhs and the Dalit Sikhs have been heightened by several other factors. One is the establishment of various Deras or houses, mainly by the latter. The other is the suspected monopolisation of mainstream Sikhism, represented by the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, by the Akalis, thereby giving it a political colour. A third factor is the presence in the Sikh diaspora of former Khalistani terrorists, whose militancy is now often directed against rival Sikh groups. The Punjabi macho culture also contributes to such confrontations. Although the terms, Jat Sikh and Dalit Sikh, are a misnomer because casteism is anathema to the religion, the continuation of such divisive identities shows that the very purpose of the establishment of the new faith five centuries ago — to escape from the casteism inherent in Hinduism — has been largely negated. The setting up of various Deras or houses is a recourse by the Dalits to underline their distinctiveness in the face of the less than cordial attitude of the Jats. Considering that there are often separate gurdwaras for the two groups, the establishment of the Deras is not surprising.

While the Dera Sach Khand comprises followers of Sant Ravidas, an untouchable saint-poet of the medieval times, the Dera Sacha Sauda, which was in the news some time ago, claims to maintain only a tenuous link with Sikhism. It is the belief among the Jat Sikhs that these Deras are not true representatives of the religion that leads to clashes like the present one. The political angle is introduced by the capacity of both the SGPC and the Deras to deliver block votes to the various parties. It is known, for instance, that the Congress depended on the Dera Sacha Sauda for political support before the last assembly elections in Punjab. Apart from politics, the rising prosperity of the Dalits is another cause for tension. However, the latter also resent the fact that, except for Giani Zail Singh, no one from the lower castes has risen in the political hierarchy. It is evident that even after the present violence is brought under control, the root cause of trouble will continue to threaten future outbreaks.]

UNHRC DIVIDED ON SRI LANKA

By Poornima Weerasekara
DailyMirror.lk
May 27, 2009

Human Rights Minister Mahinda Samarasingha
and Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the UN in Geneva,
Dayan Jayatillake are seen here having a discussion
during the special session on Sri Lanka at
the UN Human Rights Council yesterday.

Allies call session ill-timed while EU-led countries
demand for independent probe on HR violations

Members of the UN Human Rights Council remained divided on the need for a human rights probe on Sri Lanka, an idea pushed by EU-led countries, while friendly nations called the special UNHRC session ill-timed and unwarranted for.

“We have serious reservations of the objectives and the usefulness of this session. Some members by forcing a special session have regrettably attempted to politicize the work of the UNHRC,” the Indian Ambassador to the UNHRC in Geneva said.

“It would have been sufficient to discuss the Sri Lankan issue at the regular meeting of the UNHRC, which is a week away,” he added.

Two other strong allies, China and Russia also voiced reservations about the need for a special session to discuss the Human Rights situation in Sri Lanka. They commended Sri Lanka on its victory in the war against terrorism with the Russian envoy saying that “the end of conflict was a victory not only of the people of Sri Lanka but also of the international community as a whole.”

Cuba that spoke on behalf of the non-aligned countries, which constituted the largest group amongst the UNHRC member nations provided the strongest critique of the UN special session.

They decried “efforts by certain colonial powers to singularize and stigmatize a small developing country.” It also berated the EU-led countries for their “lack of inclusively, double standards, pressure tactics employed in certain capitals to get signatures and the lack of transparency.”

They urged the council to adopt the resolution co-sponsored by Sri Lanka without “followed a path of confrontation that divided the council closing the path for alternatives.”

Pakistan voiced support for Sri Lanka on behalf of the Organization for Islamic Countries while Egypt expressed the solidarity of the African Group.

Qatar, Jordan, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Ghana Nicaragua, Saudi Arabia and South Africa made statements supporting the draft resolution co-sponsored by Sri Lanka.

However, UN Human Rights Chief Navi Pillay in a statement called for an international investigation into attacks on civilians during the final stages of the civil war in Sri Lanka.

"There are strong reasons to believe that both sides have grossly disregarded the fundamental principle of the inviolability of civilians," Pillay said.

"An independent and credible international investigation into recent events should be dispatched to ascertain the occurrence, nature and scale of violations of international human rights and international humanitarian law, as well as specific responsibilities," she added.

The Czech envoy outlining the main concerns in the resolution tabled by the EU led countries said that it condemned the LTTE’s use of civilians as human shields, but added that “the government’s disregard for civilian lives and the use of heavy weapons whilst civilians were trapped in a small zone without any means of escaping is unacceptable.”

“We remain deeply concerned about the human rights situation after the conflict,” he said highlighting that concerns were raised about issues of enforced disappearances, detention and abductions, along with the lack of freedom of expression.

The UK, France and Germany who supported the stance called for “an independent inquiry into all violations of humanitarian laws where appropriate.”

Italy, Slovenia, Mexico, Brazil and Chili also urged for greater transparency and accountability in dealing with human rights violations in Sri Lanka to combat the culture of impunity prevalent in the country.

UNHRC DIVIDED ON SRI LANKA (Continued)

Lanka confident of favourable outcome

Disaster Management and Human Rights Minister Mahinda Samarasingha yesterday said that he was confident that the resolution co-sponsored by Sri Lanka, requesting member countries to focus on aiding post-conflict rehabilitation, would be adopted by the UN Human Rights Council. “We have already obtained 32 signatures, from 17 countries who are members of the UN HRC, and 15 non members. We are confidant that the resolution co-sponsored by Sri Lanka will be adopted as it is implementable. The Human Rights Council is seeking a constructive outcome and not seeking a rhetorical position,” he said.

The minister also pointed out that the UN Human Rights Chief in her statement has not acknowledged the successes achieved by Sri Lanka by eliminating the most extreme kind of terrorism and resolving “the biggest hostage situation that the world has seen.”

On the issue of providing access to UN and other aid workers to conflict zones Minister Samarasingha said that “there is no question of giving access to conflict zones when the conflict has ended.”

Responding to demands for uninhibited access to IDP camps for humanitarian organizations Mr. Samarasingha said that “there is no question about giving access. We have given access to our partners and will continue to do so.”

“Over 250,000 people have been rescued by our forces and are being looked after. There is a reference about starvation and malnutrition in the camps which is the furthest from the truth,” he said adding that the government has given access to 52 humanitarian agencies “to work side by side with government officials in complementing the aid efforts of the government.”

“We will continue to offer access within a national framework. Our objective is to resettle all our citizens within the shortest possible time,” he added.

He stressed that the government was focusing on the task of de-mining, infrastructure facilitation and providing basic services needed as precursors to resettlement.

“It is not a question of taking shortcuts and succumbing to pressures from various corners. We are sick and tired of these pressures,” he said, adding that livelihood support programmes for the long-term benefit of refugees would also be put in place.

“The government has never subscribed to the concept of a military solution as a final solution. The only durable and sustainable solution is a political solution that addresses the socio-economic and political aspirations of our people with a home grown solution,” he added reiterating the government’s commitment towards finding an inclusive political solution.

“The international community must focus on Sri Lanka’s multi-pronged strategy for post-conflict revival this is what we must now engage and not the naming and shaming,” he said.

US Double Standards; Encourages Pakistan, Criticizes Sri Lanka

Pakistan Says Swat Insurgents Are ‘in Disarray, on the Run’

By Khalid Qayum and Farhan Sharif
Bloomberg.com
May 26, 2009

Pakistan’s military said Taliban insurgents in the northwestern Swat valley and neighboring districts are “in disarray and on the run” as security forces intensify an offensive to regain control of the area.

Troops are fighting “hardcore militants” in street battles and conducting house-to-house searches in Swat’s largest city, Mingora, where government forces control half the neighborhoods, Major General Athar Abbas, the military spokesman, told reporters today in the capital, Islamabad. “We can’t ensure the return of displaced people until we are sure that cities and villages are completely safe,” he said.

The aim of the operation is to capture and kill the militants and go after those who are fleeing, Abbas said. Troops have killed 29 insurgents in the past 24 hours and arrested 14 others, he said. Six soldiers also died and 11 were injured. Civilian casualties have been minimal, he said.

Authorities imposed a curfew as troops began trying to clear as many as 1,500 Taliban militants from Mingora. The offensive, which began four weeks ago after the Taliban advanced toward Islamabad, has forced 2.3 million people to flee their homes in the country’s biggest migration in 62 years.

Pakistan planned to airdrop food and medicine to thousands of civilians in the region.

“People are trapped, injured and desperately in need of food and medicine,” Adnan Khan, spokesman for the government’s emergency response unit, said by telephone from Peshawar. “We have asked the army today to help us airdrop relief goods into those areas which we can’t reach.”

Ananda-USA said...

US Double Standards; Encourages Pakistan, Criticizes Sri Lanka (CONTINUED)

‘Humanitarian Crisis’

The curfew has led to a “major humanitarian crisis,” as those who are stranded run out of food, water and medicine, New York-based Human Rights Watch said in a statement today.

“Civilians continue to suffer at the hands of the Taliban and now their misery is being compounded by the military’s disregard for civilians and refusal to allow them to leave the conflict zone,” Brad Adams, the New-York based group’s Asia director, said in a statement today.

The insurgents had flouted a February accord that introduced Islamic law in the northwest in return for peace. The Obama administration has criticized the accord, saying militants threaten the stability of the nuclear-armed nation and endanger U.S. security.

Pakistan says it may need $1 billion to rebuild property damaged in the fighting. International donors, including the European Union, Canada, China and Japan last week pledged $224 million, according to the government in Islamabad. Pakistan has appealed for increased international support.

U.S. Help

Other nations, especially the U.S., should do more to help the relief effort because winning the hearts and minds of affected civilians is essential to combating extremism, state- run media cited Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani as saying yesterday.

Gilani met yesterday with U.S. Democratic senators Patrick Leahy of Vermont, Mark Warner or Virginia and Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, the official Associated Press of Pakistan reported. They discussed the Swat conflict and U.S. assistance to the nation, APP said.

President Barack Obama has said an aid package to Pakistan worth $1.5 billion a year would be conditional on the government tackling Islamic extremists.

Pakistan’s military said yesterday it secured Swat’s Maalam Jabba ski resort, which militants were using as a training and logistics base. Taliban militants in the tribal area of South Waziristan, bordering Afghanistan, have attacked security forces, prompting them to retaliate, the military said.

May Take Days

Security forces say it may take several days to clear Mingora of militants. The military says it has killed about 1,100 insurgents in the Swat, Buner, Lower Dir and Malakand districts since the offensive began. More than 50 soldiers have died, it said. Casualty figures couldn’t be independently verified.

Maulana Fazlullah, the Taliban chief in Swat, told his fighters to stop battling the troops in Mingora to avoid loss of civilian life, Agence France-Presse reported, citing spokesman Muslim Khan. The Taliban spokesman asked people who have fled the area to return to their homes, AFP said.

TURKEY takes Note of Sri Lanka's Victory against Separatist Terror

Tamil Tigers and the PKK

By DOĞU ERGİL
[ todayszaman.comMay 27, 2009

The Sri Lankan government has finally declared victory over the armed insurgent group called the Tamil Tigers, a group that has been waging war since 1983 on the exclusionist government of the Singhalese majority on behalf of the Tamil minority.

There is no doubt that military tactics based on overwhelming force and manpower have worked this time, encouraging the old guard, which believes in such tactics as the sole method to deal with similar cases. Is a comparison suitable with the notorious Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which has been fighting against Turkish governments since 1984?

To quell violent groups with a social, cultural or political mission that is supported by a substantial part of the population merely by overwhelming force is considered to be an insufficient method in the modern theory of counterinsurgency. The new approach is winning over populations to a mutually accepted settlement by which the insurgent group and the people behind it feel to be economically included, legally equalized with the majority, represented and participating in the national decision-making process.

It is interesting, if not ironic, that the newly written US theory of counterinsurgency was written by a soldier; namely, by Gen. David Petraeus, who says similar things. It was Petraeus who led the latter part of the peace and stability operations (surge) in Iraq by involving local stakeholders to whom the responsibility of maintaining security is to be handed down. Now he is trying to do the same in Afghanistan. Among the exemplary statements in the manual he has written, two stand out in particular: "Counterinsurgents should prepare for a long-term commitment" and "offensive operations are only the beginning."

The Sri Lankan government has mainly relied on the latter advice. However, it had several advantages that Turkey does not have against the PKK. Both governments' resolve to quell their respective insurgency groups has from the very beginning never faltered. However, Sri Lanka is an island in Southeast Asia, and the Tamil Tigers (or the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam [LTTE]) had limited room to maneuver on the ground. Yet at the peak of its strength, the LTTE had 12,000 fighters and controlled one-quarter of the island. The Tamil Tigers opted for the extreme and wanted a separate Tamil homeland in Sri Lanka.

The PKK is also an ethnic armed group that has set out to carve a Kurdistan out of Turkish territory since 1984 (as opposed to 1983 for the LTTE). The number of its armed personnel rose to over 20,000 in the course of the 1990s. It maintained control over a large area of southeastern Turkey in the second half of the 1980s and the first half of the 1990s. The major advantage of the PKK over its Tamil counterpart was the ease with which it could roam in neighboring countries that had scores to settle with Turkey. This wider hinterland gave the organization a depth of movement that made it very hard to trace and destroy.

TURKEY takes Note of Sri Lanka's Victory against Separatist Terror
(Continued)

Today the PKK has given up its claim for an independent Kurdish homeland within or carved out of Turkey.Yet, it carries out an armed struggle for things that would normally be achieved through political endeavors. There may be two reasons for this. Either the organization is buying time because its armed existence is necessary for other actors in the Middle East in case Iraq dissolves into statelets and the Kurdish entity has to defend itself against overwhelming Shiite and Sunni entities or it may be that the PKK and its supporters believe whatever has been gained so far in the name of Kurdishness must be formally acknowledged by the Turkish state and legally made binding.

In either case, the expectation of insurgent groups is power sharing with the majority government. The LTTE has a legal base for its demand, namely, the 1987 constitutional amendment. The PKK never obtained this much of a concession. At the onset, the Turkish government wanted to integrate the Kurds into mainstream society without recognizing their cultural and ethnic identity. This did not work. However, a large body of moderate Kurds who abhorred violence and did not want to reduce politics to identity only mitigated the PKK's radicalism. But what saved the PKK from total annihilation is the favorable near abroad rather than an ethnic population it could hide in. Otherwise, it could have met the same end as the LTTE.

Nowadays, just like the Provisional IRA in Northern Ireland, the PKK seems inclined to call for a halt of armed struggle and develop political goals. Does the Turkish establishment have the flexibility and common will to end the “long low-intensity war” it has gotten used to and include political, social and economic factors into the formulation of a “pax civic” rather than formulating an official policy that would have little bearing on the complex issues that led to the conflict? We shall soon see.

Glen Jenvey is an investigative journalist who infiltrated LTTE’s London office and al Quaeda in London and his evidence helped to Jail Abu Hamsa for terrorist activities in the UK. He wrote his experiences as Memoirs of an anti–LTTE undercover agent in London, which gave a glimpse of how LTTE operated in London. Below is the link to final episode which also give links to the other 11 episodes. In Part II, Glen Jenvey tells how LTTE infiltrated organizations like AI in London. I am sure this is how within 6 months, HRW became “LTTE’s spokesman” after publishing a critical report called “How LTTE fund the final war”. This will also gives an idea how Tamil Diaspora managed to develop such a powerful network including sovereign nations. There are few lessons to be learned by our embassies around the world, as to how they can develop an efficient network, within certain limits. Arrested Sri Lankan colonel is another good example, how LTTE use people’s weakness’s to its advantage.
I found the articles to be very interesting and illuminating.

Sri Lanka Cleared of Rights Violations by UN VOA, May 28. Sri Lanka has received a clean bill of health from the UN Human Rights Council, which adopted a resolution praising the government for its humanitarian assistance to hundreds of thousands of internally displaced Tamils. The resolution was approved by 29 nations, 12 voted against and six abstained.
China, Cuba, Egypt and Pakistan were some of the 29 countries that voted in favor of the resolution. All of the EU members of the Council, plus Switzerland, Bosnia Herzegovina, Canada, Chile and Mexico voted against.
The two-day special session was convened so the UN Human Rights Council could explore the human rights situation in Sri Lanka. The UN's top human rights official and numerous rights and aid organizations have accused both the Sri Lankan government and now vanquished Tamil Tiger rebels of possible war crimes.

SLA move towards Mavilaru defeated - LTTE
[TamilNet, Friday, 28 July 2006, 08:05 GMT]
A Sri Lanka Army (SLA) operation launched from Welikande towards Mavilaru in Vaharai region Friday morning was defeated by the Tigers at Thonithandamadu, 15 km off the reservoir, said I. Ilanthirayan, the military spokesman of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). Shells were fired by the withdrawing SLA forces, he further said.

The SLA troopers, on Friday, launched the operation from southwest of LTTE controlled Vaharai region.

Mr. S. Marshall, LTTE Batti-Amparai Political Head
Referring to the air strikes carried out by the Sri Lankan Air Force (SLAF) on Wednesday and Thursday, Mr. Ilanthairayan said that the SLAF bombing Mullaithivu, district and in Kathiraveli, in Batticaloa district, indicated that Colombo was using a civilian crisis, which was already being resolved, as excuse to launch air-strikes in LTTE controlled area.

Now the agents of the rogue human rights organizations (HRW, AI, …….) will tell you as usual that you escaped with the help of the rogue governments who do not care about the well being of the world. What a lie it is. 29 to 12 does not represent the whole picture. Let’s consider the population.

The countries voted for us represent 4 billion people. (Close to 2/3 of the world population)

Countries who voted against us represent just 0.5 billion people

Countries who abstained from voting represent 0.25 billion people.

So the numbers tell the story. Handful of countries who represent merely 0.5 billion are trying to hijack the world. Please do not let any human right dickhead or any Mr. Mille Bean Band to tell you otherwise.

Now my plan (ha ha lets say "plan" not dream) is we convince KP to convert all LTTE assets into $$ and put into a single account. Then one accounting entry happens and all the money (yep including all legally earned janitor salaries as well) now in some one else's account.

Well, in practice you may need to do this in some complicated way for various reasons.

VP is dead and LTTE is also physically dead organisation in SL. Most of the Tamil Diaspora business people who gave generously while VP is alive; openly refusing to give anything to fund raisers now. Self appointed hard core LTTE supporters in the west is divided over the vast amount of money invested on various portfolios. KP is trying hard to get the full control of existing funds as well as new collections.

The scenario will result factional fighting between various fund raising leaders in different cities; leading to a chaos.

VP as the unquestionable leader never thought of future for LTTE without him. Therefore LTTE do not have anybody who could demand undivided attention and support from all collectors and investors. Therefore LTTE almost cease to exist as money making machine for ealam dream.

What will happen to the vast sums of money invested in various projects all over the world is anybody’s guess. However the scenario of remaining leaders and fund collectors fight for shares and kill each other for the vault may be inevitable.

153 Convicted MPs in NEW Lok Shaba

[ Tainted MPs, a growing tribe ]

ExpressBuzz.com
May 25, 2009

The celebrations over the success of the stability plank in the recent elections
have to be tempered by the revelation that the new Lok Sabha is worse than its predecessor in one respect since it has more MPs with a tainted past.

While there were 128 parliamentarians with a criminal record in the 14th Lok Sabha, their number has risen to 153 in the present one. This is not the only cause for concern. Of the 128 people with a dubious past in the previous House, there were 55 who were allegedly involved in serious crimes. In the present Lok Sabha, there has been a 19.5 per cent increase in their numbers with the election of 74 MPs who are accused of grave crimes.

Evidently, even if the voters are said to have chosen wisely in rejecting communalism and communism, they haven’t been discriminating enough to weed out the unsavoury contestants.

True, a few known ‘dons’ have had to bite the dust, such as Atiq Ahmed and Mukhtar Ansari.

But the overall picture is still murky enough to cause concern. However, if the electorate has not been sufficiently choosy, perhaps because of the lack of choice, the parties have been even less fussy about the antecedents of their candidates.

The guiltiest is the BJP, the putative party with a difference. This time, however, it has differentiated itself from the others by successfully fielding the largest number of MPs with a tarnished record — 43. It has beaten the Congress by a difference of two in this matter since the latter has 41 representatives of the people with an inglorious past. The BJP is also ahead of its main competitor where parliamentarians accused of serious offences are concerned — 19 against the Congress’ 12. The two national parties can claim discredit for the fact that they are well ahead of the regional parties in this unwholesome contest.

The outfit next in line to the BJP and the Congress is the Samajwadi Party, with nine MPs who are accused of anti-social conduct, including eight facing serious charges — a high percentage.

The Samajwadi Party is followed by the Shiv Sena, which has eight MPs with an unlawful past, including three with an even nastier record.

Evidently, the criminalisation of politics continues unabated because none of the parties are interested in dispensing with the services of the Robin Hoods, as Mayawati once called her band of anti-socials.

Guys,

Today I received a very clear picture of VP’s body with his forehead wound from a friend in SLDF. As I see it VP’s head wound is not a gun shot injury; it is more likely a deadly blow to his forehead with heavy blunt weapon similar to an axe. Left half of forehead is smashed completely showing deep cavity into his brains. All other parts of the body is intact.

/Too many loose ends in Lankan army's version of Prabhakaran's death

By Anita Pratap

... But all these conspiracy theories can be quelled. The international community can force Sri Lanka to share the DNA tests done on Prabhakaran and Anthony and verify if they match Prabhakaran’s sisters’ who live in Canada and Europe. If they match, all speculation can be put to rest./

Usual practice in identifying a dead body is by a family member or a close person. Karuna seems to be a right person to do this and identifying birth marks usually make it 100% certain. (Anita Pratap also seems to be a good candidate.. how come we forgot her..?)

Now suppose a DNA test is done (as per the request of beloved Anita Pratap and all the diasapora donkeys and monkeys) and the result is positive. Now what would this Anita Pratap say?

"It is suspicious how the DNA test was carried out."

"Even though the DNA matches with his Canadian sister we can not confirm it was taken from the dead body shown in the video."

"GSL claims DNA matches with those two people so they are farther and son but it doesn't prove it is VP."

"DNA matches with the sample in India but the accuracy of the test is subject to the questioning of many experts in the field."

DiASSpora donkeys and monkeys will say;

"This is fake DNA test"

"Why you do it SL? Do it India."

"Why you do it India? Do it in Singapore."

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Point is its not possible to "prove" this. If the worlds most reliable website, the 100% true news website tamilnet.com reported this no one asks for DNA test or any thing. (Perhaps Thamil Selvan is still living in Canada or Norway..). For most, including the so called journalists, the 'independent verification' is getting the same news from from defence.lk and tamilnet.com.

[If KP or Castro think they can raise more money by saying VP is alive they will probably later on issue some audios or videos which invlove VP's past recordings, some high tech methods, look alike with plastic surgeries, etc etc.]

Peace @ Last,

I saw a similar photograph, possibly the same photo, with his brains spilling out. Its definitely not a gun shot wound. I was thinking that it must be an axe or a mamoty. I once witnessed a situation where a person shot himself in the head. Even after the person was dead the head wound continued to bleed for about half a day after the event. In Prabhakaran's photo there is no visible bleeding.

Hello Peace @ Last

I see the Muthu Samba wording on the stretcher. I guess the blood drained into the stretcher. Right hand under side is bruised. Probably some persons stood on his left and right hands to restrain him while his head was battered with a axe or mamoty. With an axe, one would need to take a swing, which could be difficult or dangerous if other people were restraining him closeby. Most likely it was a mamoty. One would need to simply drop it straight down.

Prabhakaran's bad karma finaly caught up with him.

The wound is slightly curvy and length probably about 5 to 6 inches and the width definitely more than an inch. It also a clean cut deep hole which suggests what?

It is very difficult to decide from the photo. However, the wound shows that the attack was a deliberate close quarter thing which is deadly by all means.

“Bad karma finally caught up with him”

It is instantaneous death according to the wound but some people may have expected him suffer longer in humiliating conditions for his widely known cruelty and disregards to human life.

It’s an article by a posh little limey named Jeremey Brown condemning the Sri Lankan government for being too messy in putting down the LTTE, and demanding that we stop buying the cheap textiles the poor Sinhalese make their living churning out.

What’s sick about this is that the British establishment destroyed the Sinhalese people completely. Completely and purposely, sadistically. Stole their land, humiliated and massacred their government, made it Imperial policy to erase every shred of self-respect the Sinhalese had left. You can talk about the Nazis all day long, but for my money nothing they did was as gross as what you find out when you actually look into the history of British-Sinhalese relations. If you can even call them “relations”; I guess a murder-rape is a relation, sort of."

SRI LANKA: Likely Scenarios

By B. Raman
SouthAsiaAnalysis.org
May 20, 2009

(To be read in continuation of my earlier note on the LTTE at http://www.southasiaanalysis.org/papers33/paper3204.html )

The Ground Situation:

1. No reason to doubt the statement of the Sri Lankan Army about the death of Prabakaran, the leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam ( LTTE), and other leaders of the LTTE. Doubts about the circumstances relating to their death will remain. These doubts will have no impact on the ground situation. Pointless wasting time and space analyzing the doubts.

2. Almost the entire Northern component of the LTTE, including the leadership and a large number of cadres, wiped out. The Northern component specialized in terrorism and in air and naval action. Its capability for conventional military operations on land was low.

3.The Eastern component of the LTTE, which had the largest number of well-trained conventional fighters, led by Karuna split from the LTTE leadership in March 2004. They accused Prabakaran of looking down upon the Eastern Tamils and discriminating against them. About 5,000 well-trained and competent conventional fighters from the Eastern Province under Karuna deserted from the LTTE and helped the SLA in re-capturing the territory controlled by the LTTE in the Eastern Province.

4. Differences developed in the Eastern component itself between a group of conventional fighters led by Karuna and another led by Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillaiyan. Without taking sides, the Government kept both the groups on its side. It made Pillaiyan the Chief Minister of the Eastern Province and Karuna a member of the Central Cabinet in Colombo. Pillaiyan and Karuna don’t get along well with each other.

5. There is a fourth group led by Douglas Devananda, which has also been collaborating with the Government. It is alleged that Devananda himself was trained in the past by the Popular Front For the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) of George Habash in the Lebanon. Devananda is also a member of the central Cabinet. He is reportedly hoping that President Mahinda Rajapaksa will make him the Chief Minister of the Northern Province.

6.It is estimated that there are about 5,500 well-trained Tamil fighters in the Eastern Province--- 5,000 of them from the two groups supporting Karuna and Pillaiyan and about 500, who did not desert with Karuna and remained loyal to Prabakaran. When Prabakaran lost control of the Eastern Province, he asked these 500 Easterners loyal to him to stay behind in the Eastern Province to keep harassing the SLA and the followers of Karuna and Pillaiyan. One does not know how many followers Devananda has and from which province.

7. It is likely that some of the Northern cadres of the LTTE have evaded capture by the security forces and have merged with the population. Difficult to quantify them.

(continued)

Ananda-USA said...

SRI LANKA: Likely Scenarios
(Continued)

8. The Tamil diaspora in the West and Australia is predominantly from the Northern Province ---- affluent, intelligent, well-educated, articulate and good in networking. It was fiercely loyal to Prabakaran and hated Karuna, Pillaiyan and Devananda. The SL Tamil refugees in Tamil Nadu are predominantly from the Easteren Province---- poor, form the economically deprived classes, not well-educated, not accepted by the northerners and the diaspora in the West as their social and intellectual equals. More sympathetic to Karuna and Pillaiyan. There are hardly any supporters for Devananda either in the West or in India.

9. Post-Prabakaran, President Rajapaksa will implement at least some of his promises to the Tamils. He will try to have elections in the Northern Province and appoint a Tamil as the Chief Minister. He will not merge the Northern and Eastern Provinces and will not change the present unitary status of the country into a genuine federal state. He will keep certain important powers relating to Defence, internal security, the police, communications and taxation in the hands of the central government and devolve other powers to the constituent States. He will seek to make Sri Lanka a union of equally empowered States, but not a federation. The constituent States will be equally empowered among themselves, but not vis-à-vis the centre, which will occupy the commanding heights. These measures should be acceptable to the Tamils even though they will fall short of their expectations.

10. In addition, he will be under pressure from the Army to take two more steps. Firstly, re-settle the internally displaced Tamils in the Sinhalese majority areas and not to allow them to re-settle in the Tamil areas. Secondly, re-settle the Sinhalese soldiers, who will be retrenched from the army now that the fight against the LTTE is over, in the Northern and Eastern provinces by giving them land or by recruiting them to the police. The Army calculates that these measures are necessary to prevent a recrudescence of insurgency and terrorism. He will be similarly under pressure from Pakistan, which had helped the Armed Forces in their operations against the LTTE, to divide the Eastern Province in order to create a separate Muslim majority province.

Ananda-USA said...

SRI LANKA: Likely Scenarios

(Continued)

11. The Govt. and the Army had given considerable importance to Karuna, Pillaiyan and Devananda and the Eastern deserters. They played an important role in helping the Army against the LTTE. Now that the war is over, there will be a temptation in the Government and the Armed Forces to downgrade their importance. In the event of Rajapaksa taking the steps discussed in sub-paras 10 and 11, the divide between the Sinhalese and Tamils will get aggravated. This could give rise to a fresh spell of insurgency. The insurgency-cum-terrorism under Prabakaran started in the North and spread to the East. If there is a fresh insurgency, it will most probably start in the East.

12. How successful will be such insurgency? Will it have the support of the diaspora in the West and Australia? Without such support, it cannot gain momentum. For the moment, the diaspora is not inclined to support a fresh insurgency. It feels disappointed by the attitude of India. Many leaders of the diaspora are voicing the view that the Tamil cause can succeed only with the support of the West. The West will not support any resort to a fresh insurgency, but will be prepared to keep pressure on the SL Government to meet the political aspirations of the Tamils. It will use SL’s difficult economic situation as a pressure point. It will also use threats of an international enquiry into the deaths of a large number of civilians during the counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations. India has mishandled the Sri Lanka situation so badly that it finds itself without any pressure point or stick.

PATRIOTS!

Let us not worry about when DW is going to post a new article, based on his access to inside news on the war as he used to. The war has ended in Victory, and it is no longer driving the frequency of his articles.

NOW, OUR struggle is against the LTTE supporters of the Tamil Diaspora, who are still trying to carve out a Tamil-only homeland in Sri Lanka by manipulating the IC and media.

Let us continue to exchange ideas at DW, and find ways and means of countering the LTTE Diaspora effort.

The recent UNHRC vote shows the strength & quality of the forces arrayed against Sri Lanka.

We are still the UNDERDOG in the PROPAGANDA WAR...we have just been given a temporary REPRIEVE by the good efforts of our diplomats.

Similar issues will be raised again and again in the same (UN) and different (ICC) platforms by the LTTE Diaspora.

Let us not WASTE TIME; LET US CONTINUE TO ORGANIZE and WAGE THIS NEW WAR MORE EFFECTIVELY.

It is not necessary for DW to keep spoon feeding us; DW has kindly given us a great base to operate from, and helped bring a community of Patriots together. It really does not matter how many posts there are before he posts a new article! We still have MUCH work to do here at DW, let us get on with it!

Degrees of Ethics (I consider these to be self-evident truths. Please comment if you do not agree):

The issue of Crimes Against Humanity has to be (IMHO) measured against the level of ethical conduct expected of the group concerned. I outline the level of ethics that are expected from different groups starting with least ethical groups:

1)Terorists (of the caliber of LTTE and Kmer Rouge)- They expected to have the lowest level of ethics and in fact have been demonstrated to have no ethical standards except false ones which places them artificially above their victims. The fact that they do not adhere to any ethics does not absolve them from responsibility for their criminal conduct. In fact because of the nature of their heinous crimes, Law Enforcement Agencies are expected to act in a urgent and prophylactic manner to prevent further acts of crime by them. Such action may necessitate assassination of the leadership of such a terror organisation. This is often the legally sanctioned task of a soldier.

2) Military Organisations: These agencies would be expected to have the lowest level ethics of the Law Enforcers. They are called in to action in urgent situations in which whole populations at risk. Their ethics are guided entirely by protection of those who are weaker than them. The Military Man is expected to be strong and honorable but fierce in their unrelenting pursuit of criminals. They are given a license to kill in the course of their duty to protect the civilian population. While the soldier may be considered criminal if they were to abuse, kill or maim those whom they are supposed to protect they are absolved of direct responsibility for harm to civilians in the course of rescue of a greater number of civilians form harm. Obviously decisions regarding what risks to take are calculated and often instantaneous. The measure of the humanitarian attitude of the soldier is the proportion of the civilians he is able to rescue from criminals.

3) Police- Police are expected to act with a higher degree of ethics than the soldier. They act in less urgent situations in which individuals or small groups are at risk as opposed to whole populations. Furthermore, police are usually reactive (to criminal acts already committed) rather than preventive. They usually have time to track down criminals and apprehend them and bring them to justice. While special dispensation may be given to some types pf Police to use coercive tactics in preventative work (Ant-Terrorist special units or drug enforcement) mostly police are expected to act in assumption of innocence of the alleged perpetrators. Thus they have to assume that the suspect may be an innocent deserving their protection (cf Soldier who is pursuing a criminal who has clearly shown his hand and is openly displaying his defiance).

contd.

MayilRavana මයිල් රාවන said...

Ethics contd.

4) Next level of ethics at a very high level is expected of Professionals such as state legal officers (AG, Judges) who must ensure that even likely perpetrators (based on circumstantial evidence) are protected under the law if their is any doubt. Thus judges are bound to release even highly suspect criminals. They bound to uphold such ethical principles. Furthermore, they are expected to enshrine the rights of the individuals against the state when it is necessary. The Supreme Court of Sri Lanka and its legal system provides ample guidance and processes to provide such protections to individuals in the country. There are enough examples of such and the country's legal system cannot be considered second to any other legal system in the World. Such protection afforded by the Supreme Court applies equally to suspected criminal soldiers and police officers as well as common criminals or arch ones like KP. Legal officers must always uphold the truth and absolute truth as paramount. Obviously their imperative to protect the innocent and weak applies as it does to the police and soldiers.

5) Highest form of ethics is expected from the caring "professions". These include the Medical Professions and those who profess to be Human Rights NGO's. Doctors at all times are expected to tell the truth with only exception being not telling the whole truth in the interest of confidentiality. However, confidentiality is trounced by duty of care and legal compulsion (e.g. subpoena). Duty of Care is paramount duty of a doctor and he must tell the whole truth in delivering his duty of care. At times the doctors ethical duty goes beyond that of the legal officer. This is when the doctor is compelled to assume the worst in the case of potential urgent danger to the life of some one. In such a situation assuming the worst is an important medical principal in the interest of saving a life (even when the whole truth is not apparent).
Humanitarian NGO's are no different. They have to act with the same degree of ethics as doctors. Thus both doctors and humanitarian workers are often afforded a similar degree of respect by legal officers. It is with the assumption that they act with clear interest of safety of individuals or that of the public that such respect is afforded.

Such respect becomes negated when these people use their position to acquire some advantage for themselves or any others who they are engaged with at the expense of those whom they are supposed to care. When such people lie either in their own interest or in the interest of criminals then these "professionals" become criminally negligent or culpable as well.

Examples of such activity by both doctors and NGO's are to be found in the case of Sri Lanka's humanitarian operations. There were Sri Lankan doctors who were criminally negligent in making blatantly false allegations against their employer (GSL) in favor of a criminal group who contributed to deaths and injuries to civilians. Their actions may have placed further civilians members in jeopardy.
NGO's working with LTTE in a collaborative arrangement are most likely to have had knowledge of unspeakable crimes committed by LTTE as well as had provided resources (voluntarily or not- such actions should have been predicted in decisions to take resources into LTTE areas).

There is criminal culpability in both the doctors and the NGO's (some of whom openly advocated for the terror organisation at the UNHCR) aside from the fact that they had blatantly neglected their ethical duty of care. Thus while the supreme court of Sri Lanka is duty bound not to prosecute or convict even suspected perpetrators of crimes, the doctors and NGO's who were duty bound to use their position in terrorist areas in delivering their duty of care having deliberately subverted that role not only have no moral high ground to ply their trade any more but should be considered for criminal culpability by the officers of the Law of the Government of Sri Lanka.

Yeah, I saw that as well. Good one. I think the South Africans might be bit worried, that Tamils their would ask for 1/3 of the country.

When ever we address Navi Pillai in our news papers, we should always address her saying:
The Tamil UN HR official Navi Pillai,
We should never just say Navi Pillai, we should mention her ethnicity as well. People will really understand who she is and what she is trying to do if she continue to address her in this way.

Open letter to David Miliband (U.K. Foreign Minister) from former Sri Lankan Ambassador

I wrote to you personally over a month ago under registered cover and also sent you an Email, but did not receive even an acknowledgement, which should not have surprised me, considering your actions and statements in recent days. Tell me, what have you got against this country? You seem to be steeped in hate and prejudice, unbecoming of a person holding your office; this has been evident from the day you assumed duties. We in this country recall your message on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of our independence; it was in such poor taste that it was a disgrace to your country and to your gracious Queen, whom we too respect, and the British people. We wondered then as to whether you were fit to hold this important post.

You appear to be so self-righteous, it is quite unbelievable. This is perhaps because of your immaturity, which you yourself admitted to, when you visited India not so long ago. Yes your learning curve can be vertical but it should not be at the expense of the British people, for it is they who, to put it mildly, are acutely embarrassed by your stupidity. The extent of your prejudice was evident by the fact that you never asked the LTTE (I presume I do not need to recount their horrendous acts of terrorism) to surrender. Does that not speak for itself? This itself proved your motive, which was not to save those who were being held hostage, as a human shield but to save Prabhakaran. Such was your ‘Humanitarian concern’, which was and is, absolutely bogus.

You have been indulging in cheap political stunts, having prostituted yourself for the money bags of the pro-LTTE lobby in the UK, who appear to have bought up Siohhain Mc Donoagh representing Mitchum and Joan Ryan of Enfield North, Simpson of Mid Norfolk Davy MP for Enfield, Simon Hughes, and MP Andrew Dismore amongst others, to support their cause. All of you have been cheating the British taxpayer and have been caught with your hands in the public till. But you have the gumption to accuse the government of Sri Lanka of using Cluster bombs and indiscriminate shelling, (not once did they or you refer to the cowardly LTTE holding civilians as a human shield nor ask them to surrender). You continued your call for the government to immediately call a ceasefire. You and your friends also threatened that if Sri Lanka did not do so, Britain would take the initiative to have Sri Lanka suspended from the Commonwealth. Miliband, are you not aware that there is no ‘British Commonwealth anymore? And further, you took the issue to the UN Security Council, claiming stupidly that this internal conflict was a threat to international peace and security and came within Chapter 07 of the UN Charter.

There is indeed much justifiable anger against you in this country; the British High Commission was attacked as a result of your actions, I would seriously advise you not to return to this country ever again for I doubt that the government could protect you from the anger of the people.

I am making this letter public as you did not respond to my earlier letter.

K. Godage

– former Sri Lankan Ambassador

PS. You should be ashamed to carry on the Bible character your name represents. (You were trying to keep the “western inflated Goliath”, but our valiant Army, catapulted him. Go back to the scriptures or take advice from Archbishop Rowan Williams, and live a life similar to Biblical David!!!

The wealth that your forefathers took away during, colonial days, from our country is our wealth & no longer “Commonwealth”.

You know, mad about having their country taken away, the sore losers. The Brits imported the Tamils to be more docile-type field slaves, just like they did in Fiji. [[[There’s more, and worse, but to tell the truth, this is making me sick. I’ve tried to tell this story a dozen times and nobody wants to know. You just end up vomiting battery acid all night, and pigs like Mister Jeremy Brown of the Times of London never lose one second of sleep over all those bodies, and all those lies and sheer nastiness. What’s the use? I’ll just fastforward through a couple of highlight shots. Take reprisals. You know, like those bad ol’ Nazis used to do after a “rebel” attack? The Brits were there way before the Nazis. They took revenge for a half-assed Kandyan revolt by killing one out of every hundred Sinhalese. Like, at random. To keep it fair, you know, not play favorites.

And then the nastiest CI weapon of all, the demographic bomb. This was a Brit specialty all over the world (see Fiji for a weirdly similar case). The Brits ran India, so they had total control over millions of obedient Tamil peasants who were starving, desperate, and ready to go anywhere, just pile into the hold of a ship and get out to cut cane or plant rice in some place that may as well have been on the Moon for all they knew.

So along with the massacre/reprisals, the Brits came up with one of their classic two-birds-one-stone plans: to neutralize the Sinhalese, let’s import huge hordes of Tamils from India! They’re cheap and docile and they’ll give the Sinhala something to keep them busy even after we have to leave the island, haw! And meanwhile they’ll drive the price of labor down even further! Brilliant, chaps, absolutely brilliant!]]]

There was a female ambassador to Iraq many years ago (20) before the Operation Desert Storm. Sadam asked her if it would alright if he invaded Kuwait. She gave the green-light (remember Sadam was a US ally against Iran back then- good lesson to Pakistan). The rest is history.

I hope it's not that bitch. She must be an old hag by now. Don't trust the Americans one iota. They are wore than the Brits. Back stabbing appears to come naturally to them.

Mr Pathmanathan, as the most senior surviving Tamil leader, is likely to rally support from the island's three million Tamils and the million strong Diaspora. If he is unable to deliver results, however, disenchanted youths would probably move towards the secretive "intelligence wing" which is talking of adopting an "Iraqi style insurgency".

This year, in my opinion, is as decisive as 1983. If Sri Lanka continues to detain 300, 000 people in internment camps, deny civilians access to almost a half of the Tamil region, block media, monitors and aid workers, and drag its feet on power devolution, consequences of failure to cease this opportunity would be as epic as the unwillingness to arrest Sinhala mobs on the first day of Black July riots.

Much, then, depends of how the Sri Lankan government and the international community react to Mr Pathmanathan's peaceful overtures.

I see embryonic forms of Fatah and Hamas.

It is really dumbfounding to realize that a bunch of Tamil tiger terrorists did hood wink close to a millions of their brethren to lead luxurious lives in Sri Lanka and outside convincing these poor suckers to take a second mortgage on their houses or borrow from the credit cards at exorbitant interest rates promising a country of Elam while they purchased shopping centers, bowling alleys etc in Canada, U.S.A, England and the rest of the world. The relatives of the Tamil Tiger leadership and their kids were enjoying royalty life in North America and Europe while the poor Tamil refugees were working for a few dollars and cents cleaning toilets and contributing in the thousands while mortgaging their life. What these poor suckers probably did not realize is that if the Tigers had really succeeded, they would have been perpetual slaves and prisoners of their hard-earned dreamland after all the blood sacrifices.

Looks like that is not the end of the story. Now you get another bunch of second tier tiger nitwits promising a virtual country in cyberspace where the applicants will be supreme virtual residents. They will be able to reside in this virtual dream land and own virtual property with a virtual constitution but with real legislators who earn real salaries from real tax dollars collected by the previous time proven tiger leftover tax collectors from these real people of the virtual country of Elam. What is uncontested is that there will be a virtual government with a virtual constitution represented by real parliamentarians who will have real expenses(palaces, luxury cars, swimming pools and of course prime real state property in the west because real legislators cannot live on virtual luxuries) that needs to be collected from these sucker residents of a virtual country by real tax collectors from the previous tiger era. This is a great way to collect real tax dollars by selling a virtual real estate. In fact it is the same thing as the virtual 17 virgins for real suicide bombers.

There was the dot.com bubble. Then there was the inflated housing bubble. Next will be the virtual country bubble that will extend far beyond our universe. Tigers will get credit for the ingenuity (hoodwinking) again just like their famous suicide jacket.

Tamil suckers are born one every minute. Do they think that just by announcing a government in exile, you get the rights to a country? Well the Sinhalese originally came from India. Vijaya and his followers were banished from the Indian soil, put into a boat and allowed to drift in the Indian Ocean while they finally ended up in a god-forsaken island worshiping devils. We should follow the Tiger example and claim a Sinhala government in exile in India as well.

Below is another scheme similar to the tiger tactics that has been around for about 10-15 years and it looks like there are still suckers who will swallow the whole bait and sinker for generations to come.

One is promising a virtual country in exile and the other is promising virtual money. Both of them want to collect real tax dollars.
