The Tamil literary tradition states that there were two earlier Pandyan capitals to the south of modern-day Madurai, and it is plausible that one of them ("Then Madurai" or southern Madurai also mentioned in Mahavamsa) was on the far southern coast of TN, but I don't think they were in SL.
Iravatham Mahadevan's research (whom Abraham did not dispute) clearly shows that the earliest TN and SL inscriptions were different languages, despite similarities in Brahmi script. This evidence would disprove the idea of a prehistoric Pandyan empire spanning both S. India and SL.

There is nothing wrong with a SL Tamil identity based on language and traditions. There is something wrong though with a Tamil identity based on having nothing to do with the Sinhalese, because that is historically false and medieval SL Tamil literature proves otherwise.
There was no historical "Tamil nation" in SL. As KM de Silva pointed out, the Eelamists only have a single document to support their argument of a Tamileelam in NE Sri Lanka- the Cleghorn Minute of 1799 which also stated that the Sinhalese originated from Thailand!
Ancient Tamil literature makes very few references to the island of Lanka, and the few references that are made (such as in Cilappatikaram) make it clear that Lanka was not a part of Tamilakam. However, the Tamils became the dominant people in the N-E from at least the time of Kalinga Magha (1215 CE) onward; I would say that there was certainly a nascent Tamil civilization (**NOT** the Eelamists' "separate Tamil nation") that interacted with and was influenced by Sinhala civilization that moved SW after the fall of Rajarata. The Vanniyar fiefdoms in the Vanni and Eastern Province were clearly hybrid Sinhala-Tamil products.
Even in that era, both the Mahavamsa and SL medieval literature pointed to a common notion of SL history shared by both Sinhalese and Tamils, originating with the Vijaya myth. That was the focus of my argument against Mithra Fernando- you cannot claim that the Mahavamsa is anti-Tamil given that it both influenced and was influenced by Tamil literature.

Eelamists can say whatever they want but no one will accept it if they have no evidence. However it is important to understand why they do this.

You are misinterpreting things. History is less significant for today's peaceful co-existence under a Sri Lankan identity. However, those who claim the "sole" ownership of parts of Sri Lanka for one ethnic minority needs to be reminded of who, when, and what. That is mainly because of the very idea of Eelam is founded on thin ice. As far as myself is concerned, we need to move forward with one common primary Sri Lankan identity.

It is common knowledge that the Tamils have an "attitude". Afterall, it isn't surprising since people with disabilities do have certain superficial attitudes.
Haven't you heard the saying "Kathawa Dolawen, Gamana Payin". It is this same thing here.

Going by No-Mess’s comments about the nature of the “Live Transmission” this is my analysis.
The break up of images, lip-sync errors (synchronisation of movement of video with timing of corresponding audio) and general poor quality of pictures give us important clues. If/when I see pictures and hear audio of the broadcast I may be able to tweak some of the points. Here is a list.
1) The speech was indeed pre-recorded. The broadcast was NOT Live – ADVantage LPPE
2) The broadcast was NOT uplinked to a satellite from its geographical origin to be down-linked and broadcast over intended destinations – DEUCE
3) The pictures could not sent out as PAL/NTSC/SECAM (TV formats) TV signals. Rather, the pre-recorded video was compressed and streamed on the WWW. This is a much more robust way of ensuring circulation. Many copies of the recording could be sent to multiple destinations and multiple people could stream the video on the net – ADV SLDF
5) The streamed video was then converted back to a PAL/NTSC/SECAM TV signal, re-modulated and uplinked from a remote location a long way away from the geographical location where the video originates from - DEUCE
These account for the three main flaws observed by No_Mess.
Under the circumstances, not a bad effort by the LPPE. “Something” is better than “nothing”. But if that “Something” is rubbish, it is better to have “nothing” in terms of propaganda and morale. This is the tie breaker and I think the overall analysis is:

As you know, I am not history expert. But as I see SL NE tamils can be identified as Jaffna tamils, east/ baticlo tamils and wanni tamils.
Jaffna tamils probably stay in Jaffna majority of time in the recent past (500-700 years) - but may be not continuosly.
But I don't think any people live in wanni after Maga, continuously. Due to maleria people moved and irrigation tanks became ruins. Only in british period they were rebuilt. I guess almost all the people in wanni now were settled there in/after british period.
Same case in East also. Further, if you check carefullly you see in 1900s people settled there alone the coastal line and not inside the east. (They did fishing.)

This confirms my analysis that the broadcast was in fact an uplink of a WWW stream (i.e. picture originating on a PC), as opposed to a TV picture(PAL/NTSC/etc) originating from a video camera.
The awefull audio quality (as if VP had something stuck deep down in his throat) is typical of high compression (to preserve bandwidth). It is also a common mistake/oversight to ignore the audio stream and concentrate only on getting the picture right. Having an acceptable picture does not automatically mean the audio is also going to be right. Audio too needs some attention to get right.

As last mile says, tank spills to the killi side. The spillway in very close to the left bank the creek that flows in to Jaffna Lagoon by EP. That is where the natural gradient of the flow is. If you check the paddy fields in the satellite image, they stretch almost the entire width of the dam. In the case of a dam breach, the low lying paddy fields are the first to flood. Depending on the size of the breach, hydraulic head, and total capacity, there is a high potential for the floods to flow in to Kilinochchi. The newly built bunds around the twown will aggravate the matter. I guess, it is the time to wakeup the director of Irrigations and the chief hydrologist to get a realistic assessment of the threat. Alternatively, we should secure the dam first before reaching the town. Please get this message out to any known military contact to follow up. Mad Velu will not hesitate to do anything to save his butt.
