Heavy fighting. 100 SLA and 150 LTTE KIA.

The most decisive battle for Paranthan and Kilinochchi has now commenced. Around 5.30am today, the 57 and 58 Divisions launched a simultaneous attack on the "L" shaped LTTE bund surrounding Paranthan and Pooneryn.

These were some of the fiercest fights in recent times. While the attack on Paranthan and Kilinochchi continued, the 53 Division made an abortive bid to advance in Kilali but lost around 30 men with 10 bodies falling into the hands of the LTTE.

Close to 100 soldiers were killed and 300 others were injured in all three operations. 12 bodies were captured by LTTE in Kilinochchi (MIA). Many of the injuries to the Army were in the p3 category. The LTTE also lost around 150 cadres. Troops are now in control of the LTTE bunkerline and bund at many locations.

LTTE launched wave after wave of attacks using MPMGs and even 23mm and 30mm HMGs but the troops remained unmoved and have not let go of the bund. The 57 Division took the brunt of the LTTE counter attacks facing 11 attacks so far. Troops from SR, CLI, GW and GR fought valiantly.

The Army altogether lost 42 bodies, which were declared MIA. Some of these bodies, including those of the LTTE can be observed just ahead of the captured areas. Fighting will resume again with the first light.

SLAF bombs refugee settlements: 2 killed 13 wounded 4 child victims

A 5-month-old child and a 25-year-old male were killed and 13 other refugees including three children were wounded Wednesday when Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) fighter jets bombed refugee settlements in Vaddakkachchi four times on each sorties bombing the refugees twice. The SLAF bombardment on civilian targets comes in the wake of high casualties to the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) in its latest offensive push in Kilinochchi and Jaffna frontiers. The second attack was reported 250 meters near the hospital in Vaddakkachchi. Civilians in Vanni interpreted the indiscriminate attacks which were repeatedly carried out on displaced peoples settlements as collective punishment by the Sri Lankan forces that have suffered heavy casualties in the battlefront.
Medical sources identified the 5-month-old child killed in the indiscriminate bombardment on refugee settlement as Rajithan Ravishankar. The male killed in the bombardment was identified as Jeyasundraram Selvaratnam.

The first attack took place at 7:30 a.m. on Hudson Road in Vaddakkachchi. Two children were wounded in the second attack near the hospital in Vaddakkachchi at 10:00 a.m. One child 10-year-old Midhushan Sriranjan had his leg amputated at the hospital and his 8-year-old sister Sinthuja Sriranjan was seriously wounded in her stomach.

Medical sources at Tharmapuram hospital identified the other civilians wounded in the bombardments as Joseph Dharmadevi 15 Nallathambi Nandakumar 44 Mahendran Ravishankar 36 Yogarasa Yogeswaran 30 Ravishankar Sujanidhi 28 Raja Mahendran 59 Sinnaththambi Luxmy 57 Satkunanathan Nandhini 21 Balasubramaniam Thangamalar 55 and Karan 32.

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) has also intensified artillery attacks targeting civilian settlements in Vaddakkachchi Oddisuddaan and Mulliyavalai in the south of Mullaiththeevu district in the recent days.

On Monday artillery shells hit Mullaiththeevu General hospital causing minor injuries to two patients according to Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr. V. Shanmugarajah. Many patients and staff in a nearby ward narrowly escaped from the blast that destroyed part of the building and the medical equipment.

I was not following up some of the developments. One is the fall of Mannakulam village few weeks ago.

I want to dedicate this post to one of my great friends " MJR. Samantha Jayanath Ginimellage" of Commando Reg who valiantly fought in Jayasikuru and gave his life for the motherland in Mannakulam village.

Even at the last moments he has not given up the fight and arranged safe passage for almost all of his men giving cover for them.

Samantha was a very playful person, and was a daredevil who lost his father when he was less than 8 years old. We shared the same plate of rice many times, and played endless cricket those days.

He only cared about the country and his men.

I am glad that SLDF is doing justice to his and many brave hearts' departure by defeating LTTE.

Small battle drawbacks would not harm the big picture. SLDF is winning!

There is much to admire in the fighting spirit of the new SLA. No question that these are perhaps some of the bravest men in uniform today anywhere. However, I continue to question the frontal assault tactics deployed recently by the higher command. I am dismayed by the belief structure that such attacks can achieve much when compared to the previous strategy of moving into weak areas of the LTTE and squeezing supply lines, etc.

What got the SLA ahead in recent months is the war of manoeuvre. The entire Eastern coast movement was that. Even when faced with a ‘bund’ defence at Nachchkuda, the SLA went around them and cutting the area off from the supply line to Killinochchi. That allowed a lightening strike on Pooneryn, which caught the LTTE unprepared.

Now with months of preparation, the LTTE have to defend Killinochchi. It makes little sense to attack it frontally. As I made the case before, it makes no sense to sacrifice good men in frontal assaults. Let me be blunt: if that tactic was stupid at Mahamulai, it is also stupid now at Killinochchi. Leaving the KIA on the field for the LTTE collect is a bad mistake, but one that resulted from the stupidity of calling a frontal assault in the first place.

There is at least one other means. Much more can be gained by going through the dense jungles between Iranamadu tank and Mullativu, and aiming to approach Killinochi from the rear, cutting it off from Putukudurippu, and of course Mullativu. Breaking up the LTTE into segments would give area commanders of the barbaric outfit time to re-think their commitment to the LTTE. It would in effect weaken the (terror) hold of Prabakaran on his lieutenants.

Those who cheer on the SLA without question, including Defencewire & Defencenet are driven by the passion of the moment. Frontal assaults should not be attempted without obliterating the LTTE bunds with heavy artillery and mortar fire, and any move has to be supported by Mi-24 support. I see little evidence that SLA’s artillery was effective. I know that half a dozen Mi-24s do not make for effective air cover. It not possible to use fixed wing aircraft of the sort the SLAF processes to attack with bombs.

However, not being able to attack frontally is not a bad thing.

With the SLA’s superior small forces in jungle warfare the entire jungle area between Killinochi and Mullativu should be dominated by the Special Forces. This ought to force the LTTE into the two major towns left: Killinochchi and Mullativu. Each of these towns can be surrounded, and weakened. It is then that the SLA can deploy superior firepower to slowly decimate defences.

What continues to amaze me is lack of regard for the brave SLA men: they ought not be considered expendable in by throwing them in certain harms way on bunds. I have read the Defencewire criticism of the SLAF, but where is the Defencewire criticism of the SLA now?

P.O.

There are several other means to get at the LTTE structure in the Wanni, which I will not write about. The above is something that is already happening, even if the emphasis is wrong with front attacks, when perhaps a series of feints on Killichochchi would have been better.

Unknown said...

PO .
Interesting point but I dont think you can surround without going around paranthan which will still require a frontal assault . and also remember the LTTE big guns placed in the general area . And assaults or maneuvers on the national front are needed to keep the 58 being attacked by those guns

The Muhamalia . kilali axis reminds me of that movie 300 . we should fire bomb the area .

Political Observer said...

Ali,

The Paranthan route is not the only way around them...

The key to their defence is the "Maginot Line" idea. That is because the LTTE is weaker in the quality of fighters and number. But, even weaker fighters in small numbers can be dangerous behind a bund.

The key to defeat such old thinking is rapid movement in other areas and getting from other sides.

For one, forcing them to fight in the jungle is better. Another thing, being patient is also crucial: there is no hurry to take Killinochchi. It is better to let the LTTE cadre gather in the town and starve them out if necessary. The war has gone on for 25 years. It does not matter if it goes on for another six months, what matters more is preserving the lives of valuable men.

As I said, there are other means to get at them, which I do not want to discuss here. I merely want the SLA to use the other means, which they know well. The SLA must resist political pressure to take Killinochchi. It is a meaningless target in comparison to saving SLA men's lives, particularly if the LTTE runs to another location.

I prefer the LTTE where they are. Let them gather there. The more defending Killinochchi the better.

I appreciate your note on the heavy guns. If used, the heavy guns can be detected from the air, as their heat signatures leave a tell tale sign. They can be taken out... but, I am willing to bet that the LTTE have placed women and children right next to these guns. That is they are placed among civilians for that perfect SLAF "atrocity". The GOSL should tell the world where these guns are and how many civilians are there by giving us some aerial pictures. Getting them via the SLAF will be hard given the civilians. That is why it is even more important to push through to Oddusan and then north, as then the heavy guns will have to be moved.

I would suggest getting the 59th to go around Mullativu and go North, while the newer Task Force 3 head East to lay siege to Mullativu with help by the SLN’s new squadrons of small boats. The 59th seems to be very adept with the terrain, so they should do well following the LRRP units that ought to be there already.

Our Planners should definitely think on the above lines.

Political Observer said...

FYI--Even if the SLAF wanted to it cannot bomb the "entire" Wanni.

All the SLAF have are fighter bombers that have a very limited payload.

To bomb the Wanni end to end, you need B 52s or comparable aircraft.

That is part of the reason why the world does not take the LTTE seriously. It does however undertand the effect of a bomb in a bus...

"Our Planners should definitely think on the above lines."

I think they know it. However, it is usually politics that makes it hard for good soldiers to do their job.

The pressure put on the SLA to get Killinochchi is immense. The Sri Lankan media, opposition, etc., have no sense of cooperation for the national cause. (That is my sad observation.)

What the opposition should do now is stand down and focus on getting behind the soldiers. To ask for a CFA is not on--that is tantamount to giving the LTTE breathing space. If there is anyone here from the opposition parties, do advise them to back the military. Give the SLA space to take their time to get the LTTE. Only the officers know what they are up against, so asking them for quick results is not the way to support them.

It is also the time to get aerial imagery of the LTTE's camps of civilians. They must be distributed widely in places like Toronto to show how inhumane the LTTE are. The use of civilians as human shield is really barbaric.

P.O.

Agent Orange used by the USAF in Vietnam is a defoliant. If you are suggesting that chemical weapons be used on the LTTE, then you are wrong. The SLA would never do that, they are real soldiers not barbarians. Right now several military observers from democratic countries are in the Wanni. They will report to their government on how the SLA are fighting a barbaric enemy—that is what will win Sri Lanka quiet admiration in Washington, London and New Delhi. If however, Ruwani, you want to drop chemical weapons on the LTTE, why not do it yourself? Then I will be happy to also testify at the Hague about your crimes against humanity, along with my report on the LTTE’s war crimes and barbarity.

P.O.

Peter said...

PO is only the first. Masses will soon rise up against Rajapaksa Bros. for using the military, and its Baby Brigade, as a political tool.

The LTTE's days as a military organization are limited. Your barbaric LTTE will be removed one way or the other form the region and world. My government, and the governments of all democratic countries, support Sri Lanka’s efforts to eliminate terrorism. You might take pleasure in errors of war, but be assured the SLA will the support it needs in places that matter on the world map.

P.O.

p.s. I am not "rising" against any Sri Lankan government, as I am not a Sri Lankan. Besides, Sri Lankans have voted to prosecute this war to the end. You need to understand that democracies, once riled, are terrible enemies to face. Sri Lanka is no exception.

I get your point. All what I am trying to stress out here is that, when it comes to fighting a barbaric force like the LTTE, extra ordinary measures are needed.

I am afraid I don't see the current way is practical. Because the LTTE has large amounts of weapons you won't even believe.

Besides there is a large civillian population behind the LTTE. Whether they are kept by force or not is not our problem. They are a liability.

The LTTE might move out of Kili but they and the large civilian force behind them has to go somewhere.

Unless we are prepared to fight the LTTE to thier last person, the only other viable solution I can see is Mass destruction.

maximum area of destruction of a bomb = 1 ha

maximum such bombs a jet can carry at a time = 8

total number of jets that may be deployed for such an attack = 12

total hectares destroyed in one raid by 12 jets = 96 ha

total hectarage of vanni (LTTE controlled) (approximated) = 3,000 * 10*10
=300,000 ha

number of 12 jet-8-bomb bombing raids needed (MINIMUM assuming NO area is bombed twice) = 300,000/96

this is IMPOSSIBLE. even 1% of this is not possible within a reasonable time. not to mention the cost of bombs!!!!!

earthbund,

what you say is not possible given the payload and the number of jets we have.

refer to my calculation.

cost is an additional consideration. but b4 cost comes to play, we don't have the means for it.

also there are civilians.

what we need is TARGETTED BOMBING.

Mi-17s transporting wounded is a completely different issue. a few copters (generally less than 3) can do it when required.

the earthbund and other tiger infrastructure are not the enemies. LTTE cadres are the enemy.

if LTTE positions ahead of the trench-bunt and in the trench-bunt can be neutralised (even temporarily), SLA can do the rest.

guys, SLAF is teaching 'em a lesson.

SLAF - you are my sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey! (too)

Ruwani looks like a LTTE Agent Provocateur, praising the LTTE military capability, describes the SLAF as a "crow dropping it's decomposed food", and strangely claiming that the only "the only other viable solution" is large scale war crimes that would cause an international intervention.

One of the main purposes of the ltte bomb terror campaign was to cause a situation like in 1983 in order to gain tamil and international sympathy for the ltte.

For a vibrant democracy independently functioning judicial, executive and legislative branches are prime important. In our case executive and legislative branches were always fucking the things up. But, relatively judiciary was left independent (even now). For their part judiciary was minding it’s own business according to the constitution. But it was deviating from this policy for some time now.
Governments do idiotic things such as this hedging deal. But it doesn’t mean the judiciary can decide tax ratios. Decreasing the gas prices is very popular. But it is none of their business. If the people do not like their government they will send it home next time. (But if certain people in the government are corrupt then of course judiciary can hop in and screw them).
We discussed this topic earlier. Many did not like my comments on this. Now the time has come. We may see many untoward incidents with bad consequences.
All these branches have to act responsibly. These are not easy times even without these fuck ups.

I agree kili is not that important other than for a headline but It will fall simply as a result of reaching beyond paranthan .

Also our strategy is to get at the high quality fighters . So we need to fight that at some point in time ,

Moshe,

Regarding your carpet bombing calculation, I agree it is not feasible using jet fighters. Also, carpet bombing of largely jungle land is not a very wise cost-effective thing to do, to say the least.

However, if I wanted to do limited carpet bombing of an area containing a concentration of defenses, perhaps a more cost effective solution would be to use an array of MBRLs. Some MBRL rockets can match the destructive capacity of the smaller bombs.

For deep reinforced bunkers, however, targeted large earth penetrating bombs are the way to go. Earth penetrators can be built locally in Sri Lanka without too much difficulty.

I very much agree with your comments on the last two postings..especially,

"There is at least one other means. It would in effect weaken the (terror) hold of Prabakaran on his lieutenants."

Our Planners should definitely think on the above lines.]

Welcome, Political Observer, to the war in Sri Lanka! You are, perhaps, beginning to appreciate that we are fighting a "SonderCommando/Gestapo" of the worst kind in the LTTE for 30 years. The entire world screams in anguish about "discrimination against Tamils" but has largely loooked the other way when the provisions of Geneva Convention on the treatment of both combatants and civilians has been flagrantly violated by the LTTE. The LTTE has adopted the position that, any atrocity, no matter how monstrous, is a valid weapon of war in its efforts to dismember Sri Lanka.

When Mullaitivu fell many years ago, the LTTE captured nearly 1,000 policemen and soldiers. They executed them all, in certain cases after using their blood to supplement their blood supply.

That is why I have written at this blog, that Prabakaran and his top subordinates are monstrous war criminals with whom we must never make political deals. Like the Allies did in WW-II, they must be defeated totally, and if captured should be tried and executed. Anything less would be a mockery of justice.

Are these earth bunds not visible to our pilots. Sorry I have no clue when it comes to art of war,]

Earthbunds are quite visible to satellites, jet fighters, helicopter gunships, and propeller driven unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to different degrees.

You can see the earth bunds at the Kilaly/Muhamalai/Nargarkovil front yourself on Google Earth, at a resolution that allows you to see individual mortar pits. The problem is, this free service is not updated in real time. There is a paid Google Earth service that allows access to higher resolution pictures, but that is not in realtime eaither. You can download and install the GoogleEarth software on your PC; it is pretty nifty, I use it all the time.

Aircraft can take much more detailed images/movies of limited areas, and identifying individual fighters is not a problem, unless their locations are expertly camouflaged. However, residence time of the aircraft over a given location is quite limited. In the case of fixed-wing aircraft such as the jet fighters, they fly at high speed and have to make several passes over the area. Helicopters can hover over an area, but consume lots of fuel and expose themselves to groundfire. In any case, these two methods are useful only for taking snapshots at different times. UAVs are a much more practical option with the ability to circle around and photograph limited areas continuously, even in realtime battlefield situations. Small model helicopters can also be used for this purpose, and will provide a hovering capability. Nighttime images of activity can be acquired using infra-red radiation sensitive imaging.

The US military has permanent satellite coverage of all locations of the earth at all times. I am certain that the Sri Lanka Govt. is getting assistance in this area from the US, but it it not known whether that extends to realtime tactical coverage, or only infrequent assistance on gunrunning ships etc.

All of this information is quite well known and is available on the web.

Looking at all the pictures on tamilnet, its apparent that most of the LTTE fighters on the FDLs are of the lesser regiments within the LTTE. If these 'lesser' regiments can devastate 57 and all the other fudgepackin brigades, I wonder whats going to happen when the big guns come out to play.

And take note, Black tigers haven't done a major land operation since the decimation of the vanni hq radar installments.

Its gonna be fun to see how the 57 is gonna flee with whatever they can grab in their hands before getting pwnt by charles anthony, jeyanthan and imran pandian.

Folks,

I have seen some Rama/Rawana/Seetha trilogies posted here by many but those are fakes. I got hold of original scriptures from Valmikee and thought you will be interested. My apology for taking up space.

Once up on a time, there was a keaboard lover called val micky (tiny mouse) who used to smoke marijuana until he is almost become gook like Navindran. One day, he smoked more than the usual and wrote a fantasy which was later modified to satisfy unending egos of Injuns. The infamous original plot of Ramayanaya goes like this:

Part I: Prelude (“PUGGALA WARNANA”)

Rama’s father, the kingpin of Ayodya gang, knew about his son, Rama’s impotency and got wild about the future of his gang dynasty and asked Ramos to leave the gang with his sorry wife Seetha.

After self exile from his father’s MBK gang, powder boy Rama wonders the back alleys of Ayodya with his wife Seetha, a gorgeous nymphet and his brother Lakshman without initials VVS. As Rama couldn’t raise his bar sufficiently for anything useful, Seetha remained a hot virgin and was daydreaming for a something really long and hard.

Then they encountered Shurpanaka, Rawana’s sister, a real bitch who was looking for an easy lay. Shurpanaka instantly fell for Rama and got him cornered but Rama couldn’t do it with his jelly bean, so Shurpanaka gave him an overdose of viagra and converted Rama’s otherwise useless small banana into a miniature base ball bat. Shurpanaka then laid Rama several times while Rama hysterically groaning and panting with countless pre-ejaculations. Once Shuranaka had enough with Rama the jelly boy, she kicked him out for good. Rama got so scared and told Lakshman about his exhausting ordeal with Shurpanaka. Lakshman was a real cocky bastard and caught Shurpanaka while she was sleeping in a caravan. He tried to rape her but Shurpanaka was too much for him and ultimately got seduced like a teen ager who got caught with Ma baker.

Lakhsman became so bitchy with Shurpanaka and sliced her nose with his Swiss blade. Shurpanaka ran back to Seylan for peotection with her gang brother Rawana and poisoned him with a different story.

Rawana was a handsome tall warrior gangster king with dark complexion and even darker tattoos all over his masculine body, listen to his sis for a while and decided to act at once. He jumped to his Honda 5X named “DANDUMONARA” and went after the trio over the notorious stone bridge. He was so lucky and saw Seetha first. His mouth became dry with urge after seen astonishingly sexy Seetha with her lovely body and thought who the fcuk is Aiswary Rai, this is the one to screw. Seetha also had similar hot feelings and her knickers got wet and sticky like a bitch in the heat, after seen Rawana’s ravishing looks.

Seetha jumped into Rawana's lap lowering her self on to the gasoline tank facing his broad shoulders and Rawana raced into the wilderness. Seetha almost unconsciously lift her skirt with desire and wrapped her gorgeous thighs around his hip while squeezing his shoulder blades.

Part II: “SAMBHOGA WARNANA” will follow only on high demand - Pansilu

Talked to today to "Colombo"... and naturally, the topic I broached with my "contacts that matter" was the SLA casualties...

(50+ odd KIA confirmed, 15 odd missing, and another 160 odd wounded, out of which most of them are "walking wounded" - but well, the LTTE KIA is accurately pegged at over 150 based on latest intelligence, and the LTTE WIA is also in over 250 based on same info, but what's important here is the large % of LTTE wounded that will NOT survive the wounds due to the lack of the same sophisticated trauma/med-care that our SLA boys have)

And what I was told was, yes...we are sad about our casualties...BUT..

Just today the SLA recruited just over 1800 new recruits based on pre-selections done earlier! I am told the list of recruits, of those who are selection-passed and waiting in-line is over another 10,000!

This does not include any from over 30,000 applications that have only been processed but not gone through any "passing"...- the list which I am told keeps growing by the day!

So, this should be an eye-opener for the LTTE supporting whore-bitches/bastards here who have prematurely ejacualted thinking they have seen the end of SLA!!!

Yep, they know it is somewhat hard to do it in SL...yes, of course, a traitorous dribble like the "Leader" still attempt to do a good job on LTTE's behalf, but clearly such subversive efforts are not proving effective. Yes, survey after survey has proven this. (whereby around 80% of population has consistently shown support for MR GOSL to wipe out the LTTE scum for good!)...

So, while they keep trying in SL, I got to know they opened up another front outside SL (where there are not the same media "watch"as in SL) about 2 years ago and the intent of that program is to get to the Sinhela SL populace via their “demoralized” relative expats!

Dear Patriots,
I am sure our commanders are doing everything possible to decrease SLA casualties and increase the kill rate of LTTE monkeys. I wonder if they are utilizing smokescreens during frontal assaults on fixed defensive positions.

The U.S. Army has long appreciated the value of smoke screens for 2D ground operations by having M113A3 armored fighting vehicles (M58 "Wolf") and (M56 "Coyote") HMMWVs fitted with smoke generators to mask large formations of vehicles/troops on the move. Work is underway to give the M1 Abrams a smoke screen capability by adding JP-8/diesel directly to the engine exhaust. Field Artillery can lay smoke screens with shells if they have the logistics to deliver the extra smoke shells, HE shells are always first priority. Every AFV has emergency smoke grenades that can be launched to evade a missile attack. The BFV can lay engine smoke.

One of the best early examples of use of smokescreens was Airborne assault on Nadzab, an airstrip in the Markham Valley in Papau New Guinea in the fall of 1943. Minutes before the troop-carrying C-47s arrived over the Nadzab drop zone, a very large force (as many as 90 ships) of B-25 gunships hit the airfield. After strafing the drop zone, the B-25s dropped their loads of parafrag bombs. As the last B-25 left the field a flight of A-20s came over and dispensed a cloud of smoke around the DZ to conceal the troopers from the enemy positions in the trees. The Paratroopers landed under the concealment of the smoke without taking a single casualty from enemy fire. Within minutes after they were on the ground, the Japanese on the airfield surrendered with very little resistance.

Cheers!

On the smoke screen:
yes its a good idea but we need to be clear on some implications of using it

1. The wind direction: after deploying if it comes our way rather than towards the LLTE defences then we give the advantage to the LLTE for an attack.
Especially since these are rainy days fluctuating wind patterns must be looked at

2.Dual blindness: the screen can act in both ways while it will limit LLTE visibility it will also limit ours as well….. at least i mean until we breach the smoke screen. however this will be a good thing to stop sniper attacks

Anyhow once SLA breaches the smoke screen SLA will stand out in a white background, the best thing would be to if possible roll in some tanks (if they can be sneaked closer to the bund until the smoke screen is put , not to mention they must be able to get over the bund as well), as they can take lot of small arms fire and direct fire form their mounted guns. Just a thought

Konappu Bandara,

You are highlighting a very valid point.

But do you think that we will be able to decrease SLA casualties by utilizing smokescreens during frontal assaults on fixed defensive positions?

Most of are casualties are due to indirect fire.

may be robert blake has bi-polar disorder but what he says here is 100% true.

hats off to robert blake!

"Lastly, the MP alleges that America's programme in the east will only "add to the ethnic conflict in the island."

He says "meaningful development of the east can take place only after a substantial political solution to the Tamil national question."

We agree that a political solution is necessary, but we do not agree that meaningful development can take place only after a political solution is agreed upon.

It is important to give the people of the east the opportunity now to obtain vocational training and sustainable private sector jobs. Such sustainable livelihood opportunities are an essential part of ensuring stability and development so that the Tamil, Muslim and Sinhalese communities in the East can rebuild their lives and cooperate with each other to help the East realize its potential."

GOSL MUST learn from this very valuable factual statement.

for some sakkiliyas, every fcuking thing needs a political solution, political solution, political solution, political solution, political solution, political solution, like the TNA MP's statement. it is not so. what's the fcuking use of a political solution, if there are no jobs? war again.

GOSL MUST delay giving a political solution until regions are adequately developed so that ppl can intelligently focus on governance issues.

the only political solution is ethnic integration. fcuk-off to tamil Madu (the tamil only mono-ethnic state ruled by jokers) if anyone doesn't like it.

We all know that Kilali, Muhamalai and NagarKovil areas are open areas. Hardly you will find a place to take cover in these areas.

Parantha, Kilinochchi, Iranamadu earth bund cum ditch is also in an open area.

Are guys are experts when it comes to storming-in towards LTTE defences. But what LTTE does is that, they withdraw from the defences. After are guy’s takes over the bund and ditches they start the Arti and Mortar rain. (LTTE engage Arti and Mortar to bund and to ditches) after the Arti and motar rain they begin the direct ground assault.

This is what is been happening over and over again.

Biggest killer for the SLA is not the direct fire. It’s the indirect fire.

By Next Week we can hear that paranthan falls and LTTE withdrawing (Tactical) from Muhamalai, Kilali, EP to North of Mullaithivu District.

SLA already expected this casualty figure. They are not mind a iota. I heard one soldier stating even if 4000 dead they will not mind when capturing Wanni and liberating innocent tamil people. Mere 100 is nothing in the face of soldiers.

Our forces will surely eliminate them. LTTE is like last minute of the burning candle. Give bright light but soon die.

People are talking about Jayasikuru when mere 100 killed. In Jayasikuru LTTE captured land and Army retreating (Tactical Withdrawal) Now it is different Army capturing land and LTTE withdrawing (tactical Withdrawal)

Referring to LTTE video here, the reason for casualties are clear.

The area in front of the wall is clear and in the open. Troops have to face spray from machine gun fire, snipers and RPG head on without any cover. In addition to boggy conditions, there are traps and mines to avoid while running towards the barrier. If they used 23, 30mm then it adds to the difficulty. They also have spotters guiding stand off weapons hiding behind the wall.

The footage also show army mortar landing behind LTTE line. These would not be very accurate considering the target is hidden.

Anyone who watch Gridiron football would know the dual role of offensive line. The player with the ball is protected by others while he runs towards the try line. Can this tactic useful in this scenario?

The offensive line here would be composed of a team of snipers and troops who would run towards the barrier (goal line). The snipers blast LTTE heads that pop-up from behind the wall covering the troops. The snipers shoot keeping a safe distance in a protected bunker. I am talking 30-40 snipers able to cover 1 km stretch. A few armed with 50mm sniper would be icing on the cake to take out stronger points.

Today early morning I got the bad news that my cousin brother - from 57th - is also among the dead.

I know that its not only my cousin. But each and every one who died or injured is a son, a brother, an uncle … to somebody and will miss them a lot. Although it’s a pain, I’m still proud of my lost cousin as well as the rest of the brothers of Army, who fights for us and for a peaceful undivided country.

Roshan… dear brother; I wish your dream of an undivided country to soon come true. May you attain nirvana.

I make the same wish for all the heroes who died fighting for the country.

Though LTTE goons don’t realize the value of a human life (be it Sinhalese or Tamil) we do. But I still believe that the only way out of this mess is eradicating terrorism. May our forces get all the strength to do it for the sake of the future of our country.

What can we do to remember these great heroes like Tin's cousin (who died yesterday from 57th). They should be written in Sri Lankan history books as people who saved the country!

Yes. The Brotherhood should be there forever. In this country we have to live together. If we live in harmony there is no need for political solution etc.

Any new news from battelfield. Is the fight continues today.

May be LTTE is too tired of loosing the experienced cadres.

Guys, thanks for your condolences. I know you really mean it.

You know what I feel now? I guess it’s not what most of the LTTE monkeys here would expect. I’m now more determined that we should wipe out this social cancer – LTTE; who’s responsible for the lives of thousands.

And the most remarkable thing is, when I talked with my other cousin - elder brother of the one who died, who’s here for funeral. He’s also in the Kilinochchi battlefront – he said “Don’t worry, our boys wont take a step backward and. I’ll also be going back really soon”. I was rather amazed to hear it from him. It really showed the determination and courage even after loosing his younger brother.

So all the patriots, we don’t need to worry about what happened in the last battle. Our boys are real brave hearts and will surely do the job. No need to waste time arguing with LTTE baboons here. Let them think that they are winning the battle.

By the way its nice to hear that 58th could breach the earth bund. Way to go..

Today, patriots, we have a special race.

Yes, you've read correctly.

Today's race is exclusively for the patriotic SLA widows.

And where are they racing to?

Of course, to their favourite destination. No, not Nibbana.

Today's race is to “Lucky Plaza”. Luckiest one will get the oldest “white” uncle. Happy?
