Heavy fighting continues

The casualties to both sides has drastically increased in what is termed the "last fight". Scores of Tigers and close to 200 soldiers have been killed in about 10 days of fighting. 53 SLA bodies fell into the LTTE at fighting in Paranthan, Nilvil etc along the L-shaped bund breached by the Army in this time period.

The bund, sometimes 20 feet tall, is heavily manned by tigers armed with MPMGs and HMGs. Bunkers are constructed along the banks, behind the banks and sometimes in the basin of the banks. The rain still keeps falling hard despite a brief respite. The trenches, steep climbs of the bund and the basins have got flooded and muddied. This situation is expected to last till mid-January.

In one fight, tigers waited for the SLA to advance and attempted to cut them down with heavy fire. As several teams fell, others continued the charge along the muddy approach to the bund, which is again followed by a steep drop into another mud-pit. The approach to the bund, particularly at Paranthan and Nilvil are in open terrain. Meanwhile a second bund has been constructed 2km from the first bund at Paranthan and fighting will soon be launched to gain control of this bund.

But the Army is not letting go. Field Commanders confirmed to DefenceWire that the attacks will continue although casualties are higher than what they used to be. They are of the opinion that within 15-20 days, the Tigers would gradually lose control of the bunds, one-by-one as experienced fighters are lost and replaced by unmotivated conscripts who are inexperienced and ill-trained.

The SLA launches somewhere between 10-15 attacks on LTTE defenses along the bund on a daily basis. The strength of the SLA grew from about 130,000 to 170,000 men since the Present Army Commander assumed duties. In 2008 alone, close to 40,000 men joined the SLA.

Many more are expected to join as TF-5 is being formed. Currently, TF-5 has two Brigades or 5000 men, which is expected to grow by another one Brigade or more. All the major training centers are currently full with fresh recruits. Around 850 SLA passed-out last week from Maduru Oya alone.

The SLAF has also increased its sorties in dramatic fashion. Each day, they too launch 10-15 sorties on LTTE targets. The damages caused to the LTTE is still unclear.

Meanwhile the SLN finally discovered the source of new artillery to the LTTE. Forward advancing units had noted a sudden increase in artillery attacks by the LTTE and a search was on for the last several days to locate the source of the shells. Finally the vessel, half emptied of its cargo at the time, was discovered and subsequently destroyed several hundred nautical miles off Mullaitivu coast. Sea tigers tried to distract the SLN with several boat movements in the Kilali area last week.

Pansilu,

Einstein, I am not surprised to see your inability to differentiate the difference between repeating history ( or fabricated history) and wisdom. Maybe that’s the reality in your little world. Ananda-usa’s posts speak for himself unlike your BS. Moshe, Asirtri and Priyashantha are real patriots. Just because someone has a loud mouth, according to you, he is not a patriot right? If there’s joke it’s only YOU but please don’t come and insult patriots here. Remember others are not fools in this blog and they can read between the lines. So do keep on writing.

N, vigilante and sujeewa,

agree with you mates.

we should get down to defence matters.

OK, a start - the truth about the cow incident and cluster munitions.

LTTE's charge of "cluster" munitions is a clever trick to mislead many.

FACTS

1. SLAF didn't use cluster bombs in late november and december 2008

2. what SLAF used was the type ofab500 series fragmentation/fuel bombs

3. the difference betrween fragmentation bombs and cluster bombs is that in the former the "pieces" don't explode while in the latter they explode.

4. fuel air bombs mainly burns a large area - the area the target reaches. apart from that it throws fragments in all directions.

if you carefully look at ALL reported incidents by toiletnet (with pics), you will notice that it NEVER (NEVER) published anything of the actual target. only the peripheral damage was photographed!!

e.g. cows.

IF the bimb fell on the herd of cows, they would be BBQed. but this hasn't happened. why?

bcos the bombs targeted something else and only the fragments killed/injured their 'holy' cows.

the target got to be in ashes. why no pics of the (burnt) target???

bcos the target was accurate and possibly 1,000s of LTTE MFs got burnt with their equipment.

i challenge toiletnet to publish the real impact points of the bomb.

they can't bcos that will show LTTE MFs' ROASTED arses, tits and cunts (what a fantastic site to see!!).

now, by calling the bombs
"cluster bombs", toiletnet can escape giving these photoes as in cluster bombs, there won't be such burns as in fuel/air explosives!!

(plus other reasons)

some fools who believed the cluster bomb story will not demand for any more photoes as they are blissfully unaware of the reality.

dumb toiletnet published a photo of a socalled unexploded "cluster bomb" in it in late november which clearly showed (in russian) OFAB-500-Sh!!!

this is the reality.

i wish to put this matter to a rest.

i'm afraid asithri and priasantha are patriots. but as you said they are not very nice when it comes to the use of language.

patriotism and decency are unrelated thing, UNFORTUNATELY.

e.g. there have been VERY nasty, even VULGER patriots around the world, some leading armies. being that doesn't make them any different.

another e.g. in my trade i have met some REALLY DIRTY (some are very much into sex) directors, senoir execs of some massive companies. due to my upbringing i at first, HATED them and never thought they could record a success. i was wrong.

UNFORTUNATELY, there is no connection between the two.

if we go after idealism, we will only end up in shit.

the same about the govt. this govt is fcuking wasteful, corrupt, nepotism, shameless. but it got one thing right. it must be appreciated.

long time ago, some of them called me a MF too! (when i used to bitch about SLAF, SLN, STF, etc., etc., etc., etc.) but i take the CONTENT of the comment, not the person.

the person actually does not matter. but some bloggers have ALWAYS been terrorists and racists that there is no difference between what they are and what they say.

STILL i believe they too (even vezapillai) have something that can be appreciated.

anyway agree that using filth to fellow (real ones) patriots and dividing (real ones) patriots are unacceptable.

Even you, like a gutless patriot sometimes licking these bastards and talking about SL as a model to others.

What joke!!!!]

Pansilu,

I am sorry to see you falling into the same trap of fighting with other patriots at this blog, but nevertheless I value you as a patriot.

Not everyone is cast in the same mould, or uses the same tools in fighting for the same cause. Neither you, nor I, can control others; the only choice we have is to provide a better example for others to emulate, if they so choose.

I prefer my way of doing things, but will not try to impose it on others, or criticize others for what they choose to do. Instead, I try to see the best in them, and to see beyond the immediate event at what their permanent convictions are. All I care about is that they display a deep love for our country, and that they strive for the same goal of one country, one people, and one set of rights and responsibilities for all citizens, as I do.

People who are clearly not patriots, admittedly in my judgment, I ignore. I also ignore criticisms and insults aimed at me by others from time to time, without retaliation. Like all of us, I continually need to be alert of my own human frailties that allow my ego and false pride to get the better of me. The knowledge that what we are trying to do here for our motherland is much more important to me than stroking my own ego; that helps me immeasurably in maintaining my composure.

Something else I also know is that "fire has to be fought with fire" and that "the meek inherit will not inherit the earth" if they "stand and wait"; they will inherit at most only six feet of soil above their graves. When some of the patriots here retaliate against LTTE agents at this blog with "no holds barred" comments, it is because they have come to the same conclusion and are paying them back in the same coin. Therefore, although I do not use these same methods, I will not condemn them either, because deep down inside, I find they share the same ideals of one country, one people, and one set of rights and responsibilities for all citizens, as I do.

The war that is underway in Sri Lanka, has to be fought with the will, determination and the ferocity required to win. As you well know, the LTTE has used every dirty, universally condemned violent method against us to attain their goal. In the past, we failed to protect our people, because we did not want to use either the same unacceptable tactics, or did not deploy all of the acceptable methods of war and military strength that could be deployed. The result was, we failed our people and the country was nearly partitioned as a result. In this war, we must match and exceed the will, determination and ferocity of the enemy, as President Abraham Lincoln, perhaps the most vilified man of his time, now recognized and worshipped as a great humanitarian, did to bring peace to the US in the shortest possible time (4 years) in what was perhaps, the most bloody civil war in recorded history. He authorized his generals to lay waste the Confederacy, as exemplified by Gen. Sherman's march through Georgia, bringing the war to an early close in 4 years, not in 30 as we are attempting to do. Perhaps the analogy is not directly applicable, but wars cannot always be won by genteel means, certainly not against a Hitlerian villain of Prabhakaran's mindset, or his brainwashed followers on the field of battle, or at this blog.

May all patriots have the wisdom to join hands in brotherhood while agreeing to disagree on matters of no ultimate consequence.

It is likely LTTE will launch a shock and owe type of attack in the South to cripple the Sri Lankan Economy. The long silence indicates the usual calm before the storm. The long silence of LTTE will drift the SLDF in South to relax little bit. The displaying the bombed out bus is a good move. It is vital that MI keeps a close tabs on identifying tell tail signs of an impending LTTE attack. In this regard KAB, Colombo Harbour are the two most prime targets along with the Oil refinery and the power stations throughout the Island.

Recent Taliban attack on NATO logistic base inside Pakistan is a stark reality that LTTE could easily copy it to launch a massive attack on Sri Lankan soil.

Please be ready.

The past weeks offensives have been a complete success. Do not believe the unpatriotic claims of false LTTE attacks and so called set backs.

The main problem has been the fact LTTE now opens up with its stores of weapons. there are tons and tons of heavy weapons LTTE has stored.

If you recall I was always questioning when we were taking over the west coast...where were the LTTE weapons?

Now we see. Just like a candle at it last burning moment, it burns the brightest. So is LTTE.

LTTE is now throwing all it can, in to the fight, with all of its hard core cadre in body armor.

The good part of this is that unlike Jayasikuru, we have air attacks and quite effective air - ground controllers guiding those planes and rockets to the right location.

LTTE has suffered (trust me this is NOT punnakku) at least 1400 casualties with over 300-500 killed. Many more LTTE are dying because of complications related to battle.

SLA has plenty of weapons and we have now introduced large caliber weapons to the battlefield.

now LTTE is complaining because most ltte bodies are found in pieces.

this churn will go on, we expected this, the arty supply of LTTE is not more than 1-4 weeks worth.

recently LTTE tried to attack our defenses by infiltrating from our back - we got them at the end lay 40 odd LTTE so called special forces

-good news will arrive soon...lot of fresh achievements on the war front.

Sujeewa and Asthiri, I know exactly what you guys mean. You just say it in different ways.

Anyway, I am having a great Xmas day in my adopted country with my celtic rellies.

Good on you Ananda-USA. We and our connections around the World will be the vines that bind the defensive wall of Sri Lanka for the future. The crap spoken by LTTE/comprador moles here is hardly likely to deter us.

I have exchanged the best of insults with those who have sought to demean mother Lanka. What Asthiri says in words is not what I look at. What I see is what is behind the words. If you are too sensitive to tolerate Queen's English or Suddha Sinhala, then you should not be attending a defence blog. If you want to make a valid criticism then criticise the ideas. Attacking the man behind the ideas is merely secondary and often deserved if your attack of the idea is correct in the first place.

The prime idea as the kernel of truth in this blog is sovereignty of mother Lanka. Once you consider that as the prime Axiom, then it is very easy to determine who is a patriot and even when patriots stray.

I agree with Sujeewa about avoiding choosing to make trouble with other patriots. It is beter to ignore (as Ananda says). Anyone who is purposefully seeking "kachal" is definitely aiming to "baldi peralanna" and perhaps even acting on agendas which are the enemy's.

Well enough of philosophy. Sweets are waiting. Delicious.

To the enemies,

You cannot win this one. Give up so that we can celebrate peace together. If you want trouble we can bring trouble to your door step.

Have a good Xmas.

Dear Ananda

All SLA troops on the front lines wear body armor with blast shield front and back.

We also wear gas masks especially by our special ops troops

Await brilliant news, which is only for new year.

LTTE now has wasted over 260 odd bodies, this time well trained cadre, to launch frontal assaults on our troops. No success.

It seems there are other concerns when I came to Colombo.

it seems that now LTTE has set up the final ground work for some type of attack mission to destroy SLA at Katunayaka. 30 odd LTTE fighters who have been trained managed to camp in different houses in the area using 'connections'

I get a feeling UNP's higher ups know something is up with LTTE. this is why they are putting pressure on the government so it can capture the momentum if SLA loses air plans on the ground.

Lot of stuff i can’t not comment on right now. Since I am a soldier I will stick my profession.

In terms of LTTE. whole open terrain on paranthan is a muddy mess; some areas have been flooded by LTTE built ditches. It seems they want our boys to funnel through their hard points so they can maximize the fire power.

At this point our main concern is infiltration. In Jayasikuru - LTTE managed to infiltrate the FDL trough a 150 mm wide stretch that fell apart and hit us hard from the back. As we know terror leader probakaran is very good at hitting static targets. There is no body in LTTE who can hit mobile targets anymore...their best is with us..Karuna.

we are quite surprised by the volume and intensity of indirect fire...so they definitely are opening up the store house on our front line boys.

The additional divisions are needed because of the large area that remains unprotected. These areas should be constantly patrolled and guarded to avoid infiltration by the enemy.

We are in Kili for what it matters....do we have control of kili - not yet

Despite the difficulties, there are so many heroes in our forces. There are so many who made sacrifices who another 100 can live...there are many who took the initiative to attack strong point which probably saved 100's. Then there are very few who gave up so few had sacrifice to make it up....

This is a war we fight for our independence from Terrorism. This is our world war, I hope that you do not forget the immense sacrifices we have made on the field in name of our nation so we all can live in peace. This is our time...and place...and we fight so that a country remains free from the yoke of terrorism and that a nation remain alive for another 1000 years to come.

We have through centuries, suffered and prevailed against aggression from foreign nations, this is no different. We will move forward and we will remove every LTTEer in whole sri lanka. And WE WILL MAKE THEM PAY BY THE 100's for each one of our boys killed.
DEATH ... no exceptions for LTTE.

When the white sahib left this island half a century back, he left his kalu sudda agents to take care of his interests. LTTE is just a manifestation of these agents.

This is the reason why LTTE is so difficult to defeat. There are many many unseen forces networking and working in a desperate frenzy to secure their interests in this country.

Their best agent, the LTTE is about to be mummified by the SRI LANKA ARMY.

This is not just killing an enemy that is carrying a gun, but the defeat of so many unseen forces, locally and internationally.

In every sense, the day LTTE is defeated is our true Independence day. That will be the day 800 years of foreign domination will end, once and for all!

Different kinds of Patriots.

Patriot is: " one who loves his or her country and supports its authority and interests"

There are two kinds of patriots: Civilized and uncivilized.

Why some of us expect to have a high standard from our patriots?

The moral values of our society has been degrading since the war started. Most decent discussion forums on the web consists of rich and decent content. Today we are trying to have a debate on what is considered good and bad expressions.

If someone calls me a traitor or any names that comes to his two brain cell, can anyone call that person a patriot? Perhaps. However that person is an uncivilized patriot.

Why are we expecting civility from our fellow patriots? We don't want our fellow countrymen to behave like drunken sailors.

It is certainly nice to see men and women with wisdom and intelligence around here.

Try to get answers to questions like this in private since we don't want SLF soldiers to write anything about their supplies openly on a public forum to give enemy the intelligence.

" Ogre, Patriots All,
I have a question:
Do all of our frontline troops wear body armor? If not, why not?"

" If it is a question of funds, can we expatriates organize to buy and ship them body armor?"

If the body armor is not given, talk directly to US ambassador in Washington DC. He is a cousin of MR and he should be able to talk directly to GR and provide necessary supplies.

I was critical of the Chief Justice (CJ) for some time due to unconstitutional decisions he made including the recent fuel price decision. His behavior led to this unwanted chaos at this critical moment. But…..
I am getting goose bumps by seeing some people who are canvassing against him through the media. One of them is the minister Dilan Perera who was used to be a former president Chandrikas’ lackey. Without Sarath N. Silva (CJ) LTTE would have pocketed most of the Tsunami money. We are so lucky CJ decided against the PTOMS, otherwise the task of the armed forces would have been many fold harder than that at present. This Dilan Perera was one of the ardent supporters of this infamous PTOMS. He is a one who preached maximum devolution and had contacts (as I heard financially too) with the infamous German INGO, “Bergdorf Foundation”. At that time he was fighting with CJ for all the bad reasons. I do not think this man would change. Now he is the one leading the battle against the CJ and may be due to the same reasons as earlier.
During the past CJ did many good deeds. It is unfortunate to see what too much power did to him. Now all the unpatriotic forces would use the opportunity to the hilt.

SL constitution (pre-war) badly needs to be replaced. it has a lot of contradictory (within and with other laws) provisions. unless it is done many ridiculous things can happen in future IF the judiciary functions independantly from the other branches of govt.

Without knowing any of these he was complaining. Please leave the matters to the experts and you are not an expert. We appreciate your concern but leave it to the experts. They know what, when, how, where, which one to do.

I sincerely hope he is not writing to MOD about his dreams. Unfortunately most (few good suggestions) of his theories about SLAF are attractive to the lay public. SLAF is not into the Sri Lankan Idol.

Recently, UNP went to the Supreme Court (no CJ in the panel) asking to postpone the Central and North Western Provincial Council elections. You know what the decision was. The judges said that they had no authority to make a decision.
It is the same here. The Supreme Court has nothing to do with the taxation. It belongs to the parliament. (The parliament can be a court supreme to the Supreme Court. But it would be another topic). My two cents.
Merry Christmas to all the patriots. No problem about the terra monkeys. They will definitely go to hell.
(The god will definitely forgive about the convent bombing. The command was given by a good believer, the Air Force commander, of course for the common good.)

Generally, I agree that we should not ask for militarily sensitive information at this blog. I myself have cautioned bloggers about this, and I usually contact MoD/SLA directly.

This particular question happens to be one for which the answer is already known to the LTTE. The LTTE is fighting our troops on a daily basis, and in some instances had the bodies of some of our dead. Whatever the answer is, it is not news to them.

However, if there was a shortage, I could have organized a shipment from the US with the assistance of Sri Lankans here. Ogre mentioned that hardcore LTTE cadre are now equipped with body armor; I wanted to make sure that there was no deficiency on our side.

BTW, for nearly 2 years, US citizens were purchasing and sending body armor to their sons and daughters fighting in Iraq.

- Govt will soon become unpopular. Remember these guys questioned last UNP regime when they created a price formula. "Loka thel mila wediwena kota mila wedi karanawanam apita aanduwak mokatada?"

- What if world oil prices go up to 150 USD? Can our govt increase prices again.. or stop the war?

- Most lower middle class citizens use petrol vehicles for transport. For ex: Threewheelers, motorbikes.

- Recently most of govt servants got tax free permits to buy vehicles. Think about the impact of that. Most of them bought diesel vehicles. Poor petrol vehicle owners has to pay for them.

- RW's henchmen are rich and they could always afford petrol or diesel at any prices.

- Why fund mihin air 600 mil of tax payers money?

As a patriot I wish govt would carry on the war until LTTP is finished. At the same time govt has a responsibility to care for it's tax payers.

Even though village bandas would vote for a govt they do not pay much of the taxes.

LTTE agents at this blog are on a vendetta here to discredit all who oppose their agenda; there is nothing very much we can do other than to collapse comments on them.

Regarding lack of body armor for US troops, just do a Google search using "lack of body armour US troops Iraq" and you will get links to hundreds of articles, that support my statement. Denying facts at the top of ones voice does not make it true.

Here are some links; read and judge for yourselves:

Here is just one of many stories on families of soldiers buying body armor for soldiers in Iraq:

Posted 3/26/2004 4:19 AM

Soldiers in Iraq still buying their own body armor
The Associated Press

Soldiers headed for Iraq are still buying their own body armor — and in many cases, their families are buying it for them — despite assurances from the military that the gear will be in hand before they're in harm's way.

Body armor distributors have received steady inquiries from soldiers and families about purchasing the gear, which can cost several thousand dollars. Though the military has advised them not to rely on third-party suppliers, many soldiers say they want it before they deploy.

Last October, it was reported that nearly one-quarter of American troops serving in Iraq did not have ceramic plated body armor, which can stop bullets fired from assault rifles and shrapnel.

The military says the shortfall is over and soldiers who do not yet have the armor soon will. But many want to avoid the risk.

"What we hear from soldiers is that they are told that they are going to get body armor just before they leave or just after they get there. But they don't want to take a chance," said Nick Taylor, owner of Bulletproofme.com, an online distributor of body armor in Austin, Texas.

Inquiries rise and fall with the rate of deployments, fueled by stories of units falling under attack as little as a day after being issued body armor. Whether they are true, the stories are prompting families to think about buying the equipment, Taylor said.

Reliance Armor in Cincinnati, which makes armored vests for soldiers and police, has nearly doubled in size as a result of the shortage.

"We're getting people locally who are deployed National Guard and parents, specifically, coming in and buying," said Don Budke, the company's vice president of sales. "The military people don't want to advertise the fact that there are people doing this on their own."

Dan Britt paid about $1,400 for body armor for his son, a medic stationed in Kuwait who had orders to move into Baghdad. He recently heard his son received it.

"In war, as we've learned through all our history, who gets killed and who doesn't is just happenstance," said the father from Hamilton, Ohio. "But if I can raise the odds, then I'll feel better."

Those that need the armor most are already certain to have it, said Army spokesman Maj. Gary Tallman, and families should not buy the equipment.

"What we have told family members who have contacted us is that the Army cannot attest to the safety or the level of protection of body armor purchased rather than issued for a soldier," Tallman said.

The Defense Department says it has contracted with one manufacturer for its armor. Point Blank Body Armor, which produces the Interceptor brand, has all but stopped selling to the public.

Nancy Durst recently learned that her husband, a soldier with an Army reserve unit from Maine serving in Iraq, spent four months without body armor. She said she would have bought armor for her husband had vests not been cycled into his unit.

Even if her husband now has body armor, Durst said she was angry he was without it at any time. Her husband also has told her that reservists have not been given the same equipment as active duty soldiers. "They're so sick of being treated as second-class soldiers," she said.

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, who serves on the Armed Services subcommittee, said she knows soldiers who were told by the military to buy body armor before leaving, rather than risk arriving with nothing but their shirts.

"We lagged far behind in making sure that our soldiers who are performing very difficult and dangerous missions had protective equipment," she said.

A bill being considered in Congress would reimburse families who bought body armor before the Army asked for increased production to bridge the gap between soldiers who had armor and those that did not.

Jonathan Turley, a George Washington University law professor who has talked with hundreds of families who bought body armor for soldiers in Iraq, said the military lost the trust of soldiers' families.

In that regard, it is not surprising that families bought body armor in spite of what military advised, he said.

"There still is a lingering level of mistrust with some families as to whether there are people thinking about the best equipment and needs of their loved ones," Turley said. "No one that I know of has been truly held accountable."

"Meanwhile, around 10 PM air force jets carried out another air strike targeting LTTE terrorists in earth-bund construction in the same general area, air force sources added."

Yep, circumstances have changed, so has our strategy...

It seems amazing why we didn't attack the heavy machinery that was used to build the earth bunds. The strategic thinking earlier was that it was better to let them become static rather than being mobile so that we can get them easily. But now, since the extent of our mobility has been reduced due to the prevailing rainy conditions, our planners have thought of doing away with the machinery that will be used to build earth bunds.

Rover said...

It was also thought that getting the LTTE on an earth bund, away from the Civilians, would be useful. So even thought he SLAF knew that earth bund construction was going on, and where it was going on exactly, we thought of not attacking them. Mark my words, this will be spelled out later on, after we win the war, and it is time to analyze our strategy.

Ananda,

Good job in exposing this Bhairav bahiravaya !

Throughtout the history these LTTE Supporters have been involving in disinformation campaigns ! But with the advent of internet and other media, they find it hard to propagate lies. In other words most of the lies are very short lived.

Noew these terror supporters are more like rabid dogs doing/sayoing whatever possible to hide the truth from their own diaspora. The copy paste barrage and the red bird stories of Jet aka Kuttu is a good example for that.

In my opinion most of the LTTE supporters who comment on this blog are very hardcore ones. They will loose something personally if the terrorists get defeated. Either they have donated their earnings to LTTE or they are in the payrol of LTTE ,by extorting money from diaspora. Therefore its possible to understand the frustration they have at the moment after funding terror for 30 years.

Lets wait for another 5 months and these LTTE supporter crabs who dance in the boiling pot will be fully burnt out !!

Agree with you that few things are getting cooked in secret kitchens as we feel the thalathel smell. Some issues that get unfolded in political circuits and also those attack plans in Colombo targets. Simply they have tried their best to set up teh B/G for the knock out punch. So I'm suire they'll attempt the punch now.

Few concerns.

- Pussycats re-iterated the need to attack on economical targets

- Also they are making a case on attacks on religious targets and schools.

We need to look after our people well.

Is this the same thiru or a new/ fake thiru? I know only 2 tigers by name (karuna and pilliyan) who became non-tigers.

New Thiru, you cleared the surprise I had. However I guess you must have got a good idea what kind of idiot we had here with your name. Ppl called him Thakathiru. Glad you are [seem to be] not him.

Thiru do you oppose Pussycats?

And do you agree that killing the hardcore is the ONLY solution?

Ogre, glad to hear that the hardcore is out in fighting. Harvesting is meaningful only with them.

nice 2 meet u!
i am opposed to the existence of the LTTE.
i am opposed to the land and police powers being assigned to provincial councils.
i'm against all racist elements (singala Thamil muslim)

in lanka there r 3 leaders i foresee as achieving interracial harmony.
Rajapaksha
V.muralidharan
F. Ashroff

v have rajapaksha in power but need the other 2 to win the support of their people. think lanka government should back them. most other minority leaders r racially biased(4 their advantage)

/i joined the forum this month and i understand that there was someone else by thah name b4 me./

This explains. There was a guy writting by the name Thiru for more than one year and he was clearly LTTE element. But your comments were not pro-LTTE and that's why me and others misunderstood you, thinking earlier Thiru doing some drama.

/please check the handles b4 making such assumptions./

Handle is same (Thiru) your profile number should be different but no one has time check that and compare with that of the other guy.

/even last time i had a dialog with u, there were a lot of racist elements in u'r thought process./

Can you please quaote them.

Ninja is my handle.

The earthbunds built and defended by the LTTE are taking many lives of our brave soldiers. It has been difficult for the SLAF to target the backhoes used to build these trenches and bunds at night.

I have a suggestion: focus on destroying the fuel supplies instead.

Without fuel, the earth moving equipment is useless. Additionally, all other machinery, such as tractors, boat engines, generators, etc that use fuel would be immobilized as well.

While earth moving equipment can be found at the bunds under construction, how can we locate the fuel supplies? Here SLAF surveillance and military intelligence analysis of tractor, boat, bicycle and people movements can help.

Also, there are chemical sniffers that can be fitted to UAVs and other aircraft that can detect minute amounts of chemicals in air samples from their unique chemical signatures. These can detect not only fuel hydrocarbons, but also explosives. If the SLDF does not have such a capability at present, we should obtain it, because gun-running and bombings are likely to continue for many years even after this unhappy war ends.

I did. Prof number is different to Thakathiru. Let's keep the earlier Thiru known as thakathiru [which he is] for the new guy to freely use his handle.

Ananda,

Wonderful if we can block the fuel supply. But that is very hard. For fuel they can misuse the country's regular transport systems in order to bring it inland [to a place like Vavunia]. So the loss of west coast or possible loss of east coast will not have such a big impact on fuel supply.

Nevertheless it is worth to have a team of SLDF working on how to avoid them getting fuel.

I still wonder why UAV-MI24 combination can finish off this threat. We need separate teams for these. A team of SLAF/SLA/SLN which works on avoiding earth bund building. That should consist all methods, detection, destruction and logistics blockade.

Pottu Amman relieved of duties

A beauty. THIS is a bigger division than that of Karuna. And this bond has never being broken before. Are we seeing the eruption in the core itself?

Pottu is not a simple nitwit. VP will have to be careful. And Pottu should never be given pardon from our end, unlike in the case of Karuna. Pussycats orient equally between two and we don't want one to survive over other's demise.

Interesting to see the proceedings in that front.
