SF hunts LTTE team as plane lands in Visuamadu

A 30-man LTTE team that breached the 59 Division FDL launched a string of attack this morning killing 15 soldiers in the process. The team had landed in Security Forces dominated Mulaitivu from the Nanthikadal lagoon around 6 a.m. undetected by the Army.

The team launched attacks on an Army Bus, Tractor and two Tanks causing damage to the four vehicles. The team then called in artillery at the FDL and coordinated a strike at the 59 FDL breaching it for a period of time until the Special Forces and Commandos were called in to secure the area. 11 Tigers were also killed in the counter attack, which is still ongoing.

Meanwhile an LTTE plane made a landing around 1.5kms ahead of the 58 Division's FDL at Visuamadu North. A heavy barrage of MBRL fire was immediately directed to the area. No movement was observed from the area following the attack. The Plane had landed on a tar road, further confirming the Army's doubts that it was not always using the landing strips discovered in the area.

In another development, a group of Tiger explosives experts on a mission to blow up the Iranamadu Tank Bund were caught following a daring amphibious operation along with a large quantity of explosives. If the bund was blasted, it could have caused irreparable damage to the area and made the progress of the Army extremely difficult.

My Comment at LankaGuardian.com

Ethnic Integration as the author of this article, and I myself, advocate is the only true and permanent solution to preserving the integrity of Sri Lanka and harmony among all of its people for centuries to come.

Devolution of power to ethnic majorities centered in large provinces is a prescription for the eventual breakup of Sri Lanka. While devolution of power to ethnic regions in any form is a mortal danger to Sri Lanka, devolution under a federal system is far worse than devolution under a unitary system of government.

Any devolution of power to ethnic majorities with regional control of land use, security forces, courts, and economic development will deny the use of the resources in these sparsely populated regions of the North and East to all citizens of the country, irrespective of race. The enojyment of those resources, in common, is the ancestral birthright of all peoples of Sri Lanka, that may not be denied to them for any reason.

Ethnic integration that I advocate requires the government to adopt and pursue policies that would return the Sinhala, Muslim and Tamil people cleansed from these lands to their former homes, and would open additional crown lands in the North and East for settlement to all communities in proportion to the population statistics of the country as a whole, with the goal of achieving a uniform mix of ethnic populations across the entire country. The ultimate goal is to achieve a population with the same ethnic mix of people everywhere.

Currently, the great majority of Tamil people (85%) live outside the North and East among Sinhala people, but the growing populations of Sinhala and Moslem people have been denied access to the land and economic resources of their country in the North and East, discriminating against them.

At the root of the current conflict is the lack of contact and empathy between the various ethnic communities due to isolation from one another everywhere except in the major cities. By adopting policies that would promote increased contact to foster mutual understanding and empathy between the races, especially among children in their formative years, we would promote the emergence of a single Sri Lankan identity as one people living in one country as one nation.

In contrast, the devolution of power to ethnically constituted administrative regions within the framework of the country would only serve to permanently embed ethnic differences that would, in time, lead to renewed call for separation in the future. As the author of this article correctly points out, all driving forces, of both internal and external (Tamil Nadu) origin, are directed towards inexorably propelling Sri Lanka towards eventual disintegration, if power is devolved to large regions on an ethnic basis.

Proponents of Federalism point to India as a suitable model for Sri Lanka to emulate. India, constituted as a collection of ethnic states, is a disaster in the making. There are 13 major ethnic separatist and social-inequity driven insurgencies under way in India, and the success of the Indian model of government is very much in doubt. Tamil Nadu, may well be the first state to successfully break away from the Indian union, posing a mortal threat to Sri Lanka. Steps should be taken NOW to preclude any attempt to annex the North of East of Sri Lanka, through ethnic integration, as is proposed here.

False allegations of "intolerable discrimination," egged on and actively supported by Tamil Nadu and India, served as the pretext for certain segments of the Sri Lankan Tamil population to wage a conflict for a separate state. Let us now demolish that pretext by rigorously enforcing equal rights and equal responsibilities in one country inhabited by one Sri Lankan people through ETHNIC INTEGRATION, instead of setting the stage for the separatists to win in peace the mono-ethnic aparthied state of Eelam they sought to create in a futile war.

I commend the author for an excellent analysis that debunks conventional wisdom.

eputy sea tiger leader killed; fall of Chalai imminent
Adding another huge setback for the LTTE terrorists in Wanni battlefront the Deputy LTTE sea tiger leader and three other sea tiger leaders were killed in a fierce confrontation took place in north of Chalai yesterday, 4 February, the latest military sources in battlefront said.

According to the available information, LTTE sea tiger deputy leader known as Vinayagam was killed as troops of 55 Division on mission to capture LTTE's last sea tiger base, Chalai, launched an effective offensive thrust against LTTE resistance. The intense fighting reported between 1.45PM to 2.00 PM, defence sources said.

By intercepting LTTE communication channels, it is revealed that terrorists were unable to locate the body of the killed deputy sea tiger leader so far as troops continued their offensive on remaining LTTE positions in the area.

Meanwhile, In-charge of LTTE land fighting group known as Kader and sea tiger Pooneryn area leader know as Pahalawan were also killed during the confrontation, military sources further confirmed.

Sea tiger special leader known as Sinna Kannan was killed in a separate confrontation reported in north of Chalai around 8.50 AM yesterday. He was later given the self-styled rank of 'Lt. Colonel', Electronic Warfare (EW) sources confirmed intercepting LTTE communication channels. Eight more sea tigers were also killed during the battle.

Troops are now heading towards Chalai, the only remaining sea tiger base, gaining more LTTE hiding areas amidst stiff resistance given by the terrorists.

My comment at ExpressBuzz.com on Pro-LTTE party dismayed over Co-Chairs' statement

These TNA MPs are LTTE-STOOGES elected by stuffing ballot boxes in the fomer LTTE controlled areas of the Wanni. When the Wanni is liberated in full, people are resettled in their homes, and elections are held, none of these LTTE-STOOGES will be re-elected. This is their dying gasp. When the LTTE was in power, they did not have an independent voice, they followed the orders of the Supreme Monster, Vellupillai Prabhakaran. What are Sri Lankan MPs doing camping out in India, and conspiring against their home country? These "desha drohis" should be prosecuted and thrown in jail for treason. Better still, they should stay in Tamil Nadu to support the struggle for an independent Tamils-only nation in India, led by the Supreme Monster. He will be delivered in a cage, dead or alive, to mother India soon.

I can hardly believe it

DoDo, you may not want to believe it just yet. The cost of the car works out to about US$17,000 which would be great if it were not for the following issues:

1. What is its range? For a realistic car, for Sri Lanka, we need at least 75 miles (120 km) between charges. To give this range, you need a high capacity battery pack. Lead acid (too heavy), or NiCd (lose capacity...memory effects) batteries won't do. NiMh batteries would be OK, but are still quite heavy for the capacity needed for an al-electric car. This is the battery type used in Toyota Prius hybrid-electric cars. Li-Ion batteries have the highest capacity, and therefore, the smallest battery size for a given range. However, there is no way that 120km range all-electric car with a Li-Ion battery pack can be sold for $17,000. Such a battery pack alone would cost in excess of US$50,000.

2. The charging would have to be done overnight from house electricity, to enable use of the car during during daytime. Even with fast charging, charging time would be excessive during the day. The solar charging, using car roof top PV modules, say over 8 hrs of parking under the sun per day, would only produce a very small amount of energy. Using the highest density PV modules, you cannot install more than about 400W of PV on the top surfaces of a car (roof, hood, trunk). Over an 8 hour period, this would yield at most 3.2 kWh of energy. Let us assume that 40 HP (30kW) is the minimum size of motor needed for a small all-electric car. Neglecting losses, that motor would run 3.2/30 = 0.107 hrs = 6.4 minutes before the battery would go dead, if the energy of the car-roof-top PV was all that is available to it. Therefore, the car-roof-top Solar PV would only supplement the electric charge from house electricity only to a very small extent.

3. On the other hand, a large PV array (say, 4kW) installed on a house roof, storing energy in a stationary battery bank, or delivering the energy to the grid and recovering that energy from the grid during nighttime to charge the car battery, would make more sense. A battery bank in every house is too costly. The CEB must enable solar PV to be fed to the grid and recovered from it at a very low cost to the consumer, as in the US. This would help CEB greatly with load balancing during daytime and reduce its peak power generating capacity requirements.

There are additional issues, but that enough for now to spark interest.

Electro Mobile to produce solar car
Anuradha Kodagoda

For the first time in Sri Lanka, Electro Mobile (Pvt) Ltd, is hoping to produce a solar charging electric car which can travel 275 Kms in one charge.

The estimated cost of this solar charging electric full option car would be around Rs. 1.7 million and this model would be similar to the popular Suzuki Shift car. It is estimated that the cost of one charge would be less than Rs. 100, which makes a kilometre less than 36 cents.

Electro Mobile (Pvt.) Ltd, the largest electric automobile manufacturer in Sri Lanka has also taken the initiative for the first time to introduce a solar charging electric motor-cycle.

“This would be introduced next month and the new product is already being showcased at the Deyata Kirula exhibition, which concludes on Sunday at the BMICH,” Sales Manager, Electro Mobile (Pvt) Ltd Vishwa Waidyasekara said.

India is also manufacturing a solar-powered car. However, this is a two-door model that limits the capacity. In addition the car has to be charged every 100-kilometres, which also limits its distance. Upali Wijewardene assembled Upali Fiat cars in Sri Lanka in the early 1980’s. At present Dr. Lawrence Perera manufactures cars under the Micro brand. He also assembles Sanyong vehicles manufactured in Korea for the local market.

“Currently we are producing six models of motor-cycles such as CL 350, SW 500, CMB 500 and CE 90 which are now available islandwide,”

“We are manufacturing 60 per cent of the products in our factory and 40 per cent of the products are assembled with spare parts imported from China.”

“Our main target is to provide motor-cycles at a low price and with the introduction of the solar cycles people would not have any operation costs as well,” he said. “At present Electro Mobile (Pvt) Ltd., are exporting products to Germany and we are hoping to expand our business to the Italian motor market as well in the near future”, he said.

Electro Mobile (Pvt) Ltd is one of the leaders in the automobile industry in Sri Lanka.

The factory was set up in 2003. “We also maintain after sales service as well as a 24-hour customer care call service not only for our own customers but also for any person who use motor-cycle,” he said.

Absolutely, brother.

All electric cars is one of my areas of interest, and I am doing all I can to develop something affordable for manufacturing in Sri Lanka. The biggest hurdle so far, is battery capacity and cost. That is likely to go down fast in the years ahead, but it is still a barrier.

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) — Sri Lanka's military says it has captured the Tamil Tigers' biggest sea base.

The seizure of the base in Chalai effectively cuts off the main supply route of the Tamil Tigers, who are on the verge of defeat in their 25-year war for a separate homeland.

Military spokesman Brig. Udaya Nanayakkara says troops took over the sea base on Thursday "in a major victory for the government."

The rebels are cornered in a 30-square-mile (85-square-kilometer) sliver of coastal land in the Vanni region of northern Sri Lanka. Also trapped with the rebels are some 250,000 civilians.

Visuamadu general area completely captured, including the northern end of the Visuamadu tank and the village of Theravilkulam. Last bigger location under LTTE-control is PTK,but heavy fighting is reported there on the eastern and southern outskirts. There are initial reports, that the 59th and the Task Forces 2,3 and 4 are actually storming the A-35

Political price too high for DMK to support LTTE...For Now

DMK washes its hands off ceasefire demand
Thursday, February 05, 2009 6:53
T Muruganandham

CHENNAI: The ruling DMK on Tuesday, for all practical purposes, washed its hands off the demand for a ceasefire in Sri Lanka.

It failed to renew the demand for ceasefire at the party’s executive committee meeting chaired by its president M Karunanidhi.

Instead, Karunanidhi said, “The State Government has neither the powers nor the strength to intervene in this issue and effect a ceasefire in Lanka.”

Though the DMK announced the formation of a new forum — Sri Lankan Tamils Welfare and Rights Forum — to organise agitations to “take up the demands of the people of Tamil Nadu to Centre as well as the Lankan government”, the resolution adopted by the executive committee did not specifically urge the Centre to pursue the ceasefire demand vigorously.

On the other hand, the DMK executive adopted a resolution urging the Centre to take steps to ensure full devolution of power and autonomy to the Tamil-dominated North-Eastern Provinces in Lanka and work for a permanent political solution within a timeframe.

Asked whether signing another agreement would bear fruit as many such accords in the past had gone waste, Karunanidhi said, “There will be nothing wrong in inking a new agreement for bringing peace in Lanka. India and Sri Lanka should take steps for that.”

Questioned if the steps taken by the Centre in Lankan Tamils issue were satisfactory, he said, “Today’s resolutions were adopted as the steps taken by the Centre are insufficient.” Responding to a query, the CM said he favoured the intervention of United Nations to end the war in Sri Lanka.

The DMK would take out rallies and hold public meetings in all district headquarters and important towns in the State on February 8 and 9 to gather support for the devolution package and political solution. In Chennai, the party would take out a rally and organise a public meeting on February 7. A general strike has been called on Wednesday by pro-LTTE political parties in Tamil Nadu.

LTTE plans to abduct Indian fishermen, boats
S. Raja; 04 Feb 2009

RAMANNATHAPURAM: The LTTE is planning to abduct Tamil Nadu fishermen and hijack their boats to use them as shields against Sri Lankan forces, according to sources in the fisheries department.

The department has directed all fishermen setting out to sea to carry their identity cards and registration books.

The department sources said that the LTTE is also planning to use the Indian fishing boats for suicide attacks on Lankan Navy vessels. LTTE’s setback in their war against Lanka has made them adopt alternative strategies to make a comeback, sources said. Indian defence forces have also been warned not to permit fishermen to venture into the sea without adequate documents.

The defence forces and fisheries department have warned the Indian fishermen not to trespass the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).

Security forces in coastal areas have been alerted. Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy have deployed four ships in Palk Bay to monitor movements in Indian waters. Two hovercraft of ICG are also patrolling the Gulf of Mannar and Palk Bay. Interceptor boats and speed boats are vigilant in Indian waters to check intrusion of strangers, sources said.

A highly-placed source said the Indian waters were under eternal vigilance and no one could trespass the IMBL.

1. He is not wearing any ear protection

2. He is staying close to the gun inhaling all the sulphide infested fumes

In long-term, this hero's carelessness would harm his health in big time (he is not thinking about himself, but the country as all our security forces heroes)!

Duminda,

I certainly agree with you.

Yes, we use Lethal Weapons against terrorists (and everyone does). Lethal Weapons means weapons that can kill. Indeed, any gun is a Lethal Weapon when it is loaded with bullets.

What MOD should say is,

We are very concerned about the recent statement by Mr. Gordon Weiss the UN Spokes Person regarding the Sri Lankan conflict.

Mr. Gordon Weiss has mentioned that the Putukudirruppu Hospital has been hit by a Cluster Bomb fired by Sri Lankan Security Forces.

We categorically deny using any kind of Cluster Bombs in this conflict against the world's most ruthless terrorist group- LTTE.

In fact, the Sri Lankan government denies attacking civilians at all using any kind of weapon.

We take maximum care about civilan safety, and very much concerned about protecting civilians who have been held by the LTTE as hostages.

We do not use Cluster Bombs, and we categorically deny Mr. Gordon Weiss's ill-informed report saying Sri Lanka attacked the PTK hospital with Cluster Bombs. It seems to us that Mr. Gorodn Weiss has mis-informed by LTTE led elements to discredit the government, and this is somewhat evident from the early report of 300 civilian deaths and 1000 injured, which the source denied.

As a responsible government, we have nothing to gain by attacking civilians, hospitals, or the marked Safety Zone for civilians.

We suspect that LTTE is randomly firing into the Safety Zone designated by the government, in order to tarnish the government image. Since their defeat is imminent, LTTE is trying every trick in their book to get bailed out.

If the civilians are injured as it claims, it could be as a result of LTTE in hiding firing at civilians to get the much needed international sympathy.

We strictly follow 'Zero Civilian Casualty Policy' when defeating the LTTE terrorists. We have regained control over 1500 SQ Km of territory with zero Civilian Casualties fighting fears battles with the terrorists, and we have only less than 200 SQ Km to capture. Such record of Zero Casualty is unprecedented in fighting this kind of war against terrorism anywhere in the modern world.

We strongly deny any harmful acts against civilians, and we strongly believe that unfortunately the sources of Mr. Gordon Weiss is tainted.

We urge LTTE to release all the civilians they hold as hostages as a Human Shield, and ensure their safety. As a responsible government, we have taken all the measures to ensure well being of the civilians who escape from LTTE Human Shield.

Is Blogger Name Integrity important here?

Specially, when you are having a serious discussion, the integrity of the person behind the names are important.

If we use one name talk polite and rational and another to trash, there is no integrity of the person behind that name.

For me, integrity is important when I am having a discussion with the person behind the character. I value that in a person in real life as well.

The other day, a guy said something and the next day he changed that completely. I have erased him out of my friendship list.

I believe the true character of that person representing the blogger name is important.

Rana, we became good friends here. You can choose to fool around with different names and by doing that you have affected your credibility. You will not be taken seriously.

In that sense, I have lost more than a friend. When you said what I wrote make sense, people believed you. It may not be the case going forward.

The other thing is that kind of behavior is mostly expected from young and novice of this blog.

My friendly advise for you is to stay away from here. This blog seem to have affected your thinking process and perhaps you got too attached to it.

I suggest finding a different forum and start all over again.

It is ironic that ultimately the Government of Sri Lanka will be accused of genocide. Once the LTTE held area is captured and a count of people in the demarcated safe zone is done, the 250,000 given by LTTE sources prior to the seige will be the baseline - all others will be conveniently classified as killed by the "genocide". Never mind that the actual count was only 50,000 and at a maximum 75,000.

The Tamils have been fooling us all throughout our history. They have lied, cheated, smuggled in people and goods from India with impunity. We need to treat them accordingly - as minority group of Sri Lankans yes, but the with the same level of trust you would accord a snake.

Are we seeing the last post by DW?

I am accustomed to 1000s of comments, but I feel we are.

My speculation is supported by the fact that Mahen said Adios in a moment least expected. Many think Mahen was MI. Although he was a fake pussycat, I wouldn't go the distance that he's MI. He can be someone like DW - a volunteer [DW seems to be one]. But Mahen sure had access to highly sensitive info so he is surely an insider.

Mahen's retirement is very untimely and totally unnecessary. The way he fooled pussycats, there was no reason to run away. And he won nothing by retiring. It only exposed who he was. All the hard work he did went in vain leaving the laughter for us and shame with pussycats. He could have done something lot more effective, like the rat-charming piper of that ancient tale.

So I have a speculation that a big hand stopped him and forced himm into retirement. SF@LNP has also closed his tap which was pouring at a higher rate. Now DW is silent again.

If my speculation is right, I still don't know why they suddenly stopped these lads. Maybe in the past the big hands of MOD did not know their existence or not so worried about it. Right now DW, SF@LNP and Mahen were attracting crowds like nothing and they may thought whoops, what if one of these guys reveal something that should not be.

Another reason cane be the time for secrecy. Pottu was said to be captured. Even Fatpig was suspected to be captured by at least one commenter here. I'm sure some other bigcats are taking the refuge under capture. Big things are about to be unfolded. It is natural to have a seal on the lids.

Otherwise, I'm amazed about the much we hear from rumors, and the much that seem to be happening, why DW is not updating. He can write many innocent posts about, Vishvamadu, Puthu, Challai and civilians. I do not expect him to confirm or reject Fatpig capture or plane landings. But that is not all the happenings. Why can't he at least push for a single and rotate the strike.

So is this the last one from DefWire? Time will tell.

What will happen to our group afterward. I suppose we need an alternative. It is not because that we need somewhere to waste the stray time [not even now - I am here with lots of personal issues and honestly that is why I dont waste a lot on many "hello there" kinda messages].

With the death of pussycats, a time will come for separatists to choose a new horse. Unlike 1983, today the new war will have a lot to do with web. We need a counter act. We gotta be ready. We have to keep this unity [with all internal fights and multiple lives. LOL] in order to make upto that day.

It will be the next "wire" online. I sincerely hope that everyone, at least one form of everyone, will remain in touch with us.

LankaNews,

What LTTE does is when one of their front organisations exposed, they open another front organisation. They keep doing it until the authorities are tired.

Anyway, I strongly believe that YouTube will soon realise their mistake of getting duped by an impersonator who made a false copyright claim. Since the orginal copyright owners have not made any copyright claim, YouTube only has to do is to 'reverse' their act and wait.

What I heard from the grapevine is that SLRC and Swaranvahini clips have hit LTTE fund-raising in big time. That is why they want to get the latest videos removed as soon as possible.

Army captures last sea tiger base & clears entire Visuamadu area

The humanitarian military operations and skilful manoeuvres, being waged against the LTTE in the remaining swathe of territory in the Wanni marked another significant phase when valiant 55 Division troops rolled onto the biggest Sea Tiger Base in Chalai coastal isthmus by Thursday (5) evening and brought the entire area under their control, the Army Headquarters declared.

Chalai's total seizure came on the heels of the Army's complete liberation of the entire Visuamadu area, about 100 square km in extent in the former Tiger stronghold after a string of military offensives in the past few days that resulted in the fall of all terrorist fortresses into Army hands while boxing remaining terrorists into an area, less than some 200 square km.

Capture of Chalai by Army troops, several hours ago drove a decisive blow to the entire Tiger organization, now in its death throes with the loss of the biggest Sea Tiger Base in the eastern coastal belt, which was excessively used by suicidal Sea Tigers right throughout for their numerous ground attacks, naval attacks and also for almost all clandestine terrorist operations, spearheaded targeting the Jaffna peninsula, MUHAMALAI, Trincomalee, Batticaloa and all other locations in the northeastern sea belt.

Before the Army's surge into the main Chalai Sea Tiger Base today (5), Army troops within a matter of a year or so successfully and effectively struck all Sea Tiger Bases on the northeastern and the eastern coast in Chundikulam, Kaddaikadu, Thalaidi, Champianpattu, Mullaittivu (Vadduval), Chemmalai And Alampil, sea towns, smashing their bases and capturing the entire area.

In the western coastal belt, Army troops smashed and captured Mullikulam, Seelavathurai, Palavi, Devil's Point, Valaipadu, Kiranchi (boat repair point), Nochchimoddai, Nachchikuda, Mulankavil, Illuppu Kadaveli and Viddathalattivu Sea Tiger Bases after they began their advance towards Pooneryn.

In addition, dominating ground troops of the Army directed simultaneous devastating assaults on many an LTTE boat launching pad in both eastern and western coastal belts. Those launching stations included Kokkuthuduvai, Chemmalai, Chilavattai, Vadduvakallu, Karaiyamullivaikal, Valayanmadam, Putumattalam, Peparaputti, Nallatannitodueay and Udayarthurai in the eastern coast.

Similarly, Army troops destroyed and dominated the northwestern coast-based LTTE Sea Tiger launching pads in Karadikkuli, Navadantaivu, Arippu, Komputukki, Thekampuddi, Veddukaddu, Kavutarimunai, Kalmunai Point, Cheddiyakurichchi and Nallur, giving humiliating blows to Sea Tigers further.

As of Thursday (5) evening, Army troops in the south of Puthukudirippu are now poised to march on to Tiger dominated areas, surrounding the newly demarcated "Safe Zone" in Puthukudirippu west, adjoining the A-35 Paranthan-Mullaittivu road.

With the capture of Chalai and the entire Visuamadu territory, Tiger terrorists have completely lost the dominance on the entire northeastern coastal region.

Sujeewa,

Very timely post. Even after the death of the Pussycats we still need to be organized. Especially this is relevant to counter the false propaganda aiming at tarnishing the image of the country.

I think the government should focus on developing Intelligence Services worldwide especially with regard to die hard ltte supporting diaspora.

apart from that I think there should be a unit run by the Foreign ministry dedicated to Cyber propaganda. They should visit and monitor information published on Sri Lanka in the cyberspace and counter them if there are threats. Actually ananda-usa and many others are doing the same task on their own at the moment.

In all likelihood the next stage of the war will be fought in the cyberspace

The bloody drunkard you're you feel guilty for the revealing of the facts under the drink. I've seen some lads trying to capitalize on this. Cut the crap mate. You did nothing wrong. I read honesty in your reply. i still think you could have spoken to Rana privately, but still the goings were too much.

So for f**k's sake pls stay with us.

Rana;

I honestly did not like your Pansilu [but it told me how you really think of me, ha ha ha]. Nor did I read Chathuranga. Also if u'r saradiyel, I never read that too. But I read your genuine posts.

Although I don't support your multiple lives, I understand that you were hard done by some here. So I do not wanna come and comment ethics to you. But this fight of few of you wasted our time and energy. So it is a lesson for us too to stay away from Pansilu like ppl.

Pls do NOT hate AmmaGG. You went too far. Someone had to stop it. I would have done the same had I been known this. You may have got carried away, but it was too much nonsense for us who try parsing the gibberish through whatever gray matter left in our skulls. So I stand by AmmaGG in this issue.

Anyway, I believe I am a good mate of yours. I have found your [Rana's] writings meaningful although I wouldn't agree on some comments. Some of your views about SL is not realistic. But anyway, all of us are on our own here, writing what we think as right. So pls remain with us. Your different take and still patriotic stance is needed for the future of this community if we ever mean to serve nation by any means.

BTW, now the next time we have a joker, pls be ready, ppl will think that it is you. It is human nature.

Can everyone concentrate on something more realistic, meaningful and pussycat non-friendly than this

When I knew Saradiyel was Rena, I ignored the 2nd character. I figured he changed the name since every one was trashing Rena for binging his family here. Then I saw he was giving up on Saradiyel and coming back to Rena.

If Rana came with every different characters to confuse me, I would have had problems with it, and I don't think that was the case.

He was going after what I consider the weakest personalities on the forum like Asithri and Ananda. Why would I want defend these people who treat others trash?

That was a case with lack of integrity vs the same. I can overlook that.

In what sense?
If you think there is one person behind both, then I am not wasting my time to convince you otherwise.

Sri Lanka offers amnesty to Tamil Tigers

AFP Amal Jayasinghe
8 hours 43 mins ago
The Sri Lankan government has offered an amnesty to Tamil Tiger forces who surrender but refused to contemplate peace talks, vowing instead to crush those rebels who fight on. Skip related content

Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake told parliament that some rebels were ready to lay down their arms as they face imminent defeat in their decades-long battle for an independent ethnic Tamil homeland.

"It is a wise decision and we are ready to welcome them," Wickremanayake said.

The government however made it clear that it rejected international calls for negotiations to end the fighting, which has triggered global concern over civilian casualties.

The defence ministry said that on Thursday, 700 more civilians had fled rebel-held areas, where it says 120,000 are still being held by the Tigers as "human shields."

The United Nations reported at least 52 non-combatants were killed in a single shelling earlier this week -- though it did not say who was responsible -- and said cluster bombs had been used in the attack.

The government denied it had cluster bombs, which release many smaller explosives over a wide area when they detonate, but said the Tigers were known to have them.

There was no immediate reaction from the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), who have been asked by Sri Lanka's international backers to consider terms of surrender to avoid further bloodshed.

The United States, European Union, Japan and Norway asked the rebels to lay down their arms and take part in a political dialogue to end Sri Lanka's vicious civil unrest which has claimed over 70,000 lives since 1972.

"Nothing could be as ridiculous as this," Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse told the Island newspaper on Thursday.

"Nothing short of unconditional surrender of arms and cadres could bring an end to the offensive."

Rajapakse, President Mahinda Rajapakse's younger brother, said Tuesday's statement by the quartet known as the co-chairs was a "transparent attempt to save the Tigers."

The co-chairs said the military had encircled the rebels in the island's northeast and the Tigers were close to collapse after losing over 98 percent of the territory that was under their control a year ago.

The defence secretary stressed there could be no future political role for the Tigers, who are widely expected to return to jungle-based guerrilla warfare if they are defeated.

"The international community should not expect the Sri Lankan government to allow the LTTE's participation as a political party in a fresh negotiations process after the armed forces crushed its wherewithal to wage war," he said.

He suggested low-level rebels might be "rehabilitated" but that senior Tigers, including leader Velupillai Prabhakaran, would be "tried and hanged."

Foreign governments have said the bloodshed must end, and thousands of Tamils and their supporters have held protests in Chennai, Singapore, Paris, Geneva and Berlin.

Pope Benedict XVI added his voice to the calls to stop the military offensive for the sake of what he called "the growing number of innocent victims."

Officials said the Sri Lankan air force on Thursday launched aerial attacks to support advancing troops, who came under fresh attack from the Tigers, while soldiers were also close to capturing the last known rebel naval base.

How can this demand by TNA MPs of Sri Lanka's Parliament for two Nations in Sri Lanka be anything but TREASON?

Why are they not under INDICTMENT for treason against Sri Lanka? They would be in the United States; the oath of allegiance for US citizenship specifically requires it.

TNA claims conflict is between two nations
"The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) yesterday claimed there were two nations in Sri Lanka, one Sinhala and the other Tamil. Its claim was made in a statement issued in response to one issued by the Co-chairs the previous day expressing concern for the sufferings the Tamil people were undergoing........"

SL gov needs to pass a law in parliament, that a MP has to abide by the oath that he/she takes as and MP to safeguard the territorial integrity of the island and doing so to ensure that if any MP decides otherwise needs to be expelled and stripped down of his or her membership/title in parliament.

I'm puzzled over the fact that how can an MP talk about two different countries whilst seated in the parliament of Sri Lanka.... that is treason against the state... It should be dealt in a serious way.

This is no joke.... these MP's do not have the right to represent the people of Sri Lanka.
