Prepare for the end!

DefenceWire wishes to announce with great authority that we are now approaching the last days of the LTTE in its known form. We wish to answer some of the key questions on people's minds today.

Prabhakaran

The last confirmed sighting of the LTTE Leader came on the 26th of March. This was when a mid-level cadre, an eye witness, surrendered to the Army. There are 'indications' of Prabha's presence still. This is how we 'know' he is there.

For example, when monitoring LTTE transmissions in code, LTTE field 'commanders' may request to talk to Banu or Poddu, at which point, the answer given in code states that "They have been called for a meeting". Another indicator is the "do-or-die" mentality of the remaining hardcore cadres. They will not fight so hard unless it is to protect their leader.

Prabhakaran is still believed to be in Mullaivaikkaal. Mullaivaikkaal is divided into Mullaivaikkaal proper, Vellamullaivaikkaal and Karayarmullaivaikkaal. The Army is in both Karayarmullaivaikkaal and Vellamullaivaikkaal.

LTTE fighting stength and morale

Based on our estimates, we can reasonably assume a cadre strength of around 200 hardcore fighters and un unknown number of soft core cadres. Their morale is low, as they have realized the end is near. But our readers must understand that any soldier fights well when they face imminent death.

Although the main reason behind these cadres' willingness to fight to their death is that they have no other alternative, the Army still has a healthy respect for their bravery, commitment and capability.

The ground reality is that the Tigers are fighting hard. Recent fighting in Karayarmullaivaikkaal saw the Tigers even recapturing lost bunkers and holding them for 8 hours until being driven-out or killed by the Army. The game will continue only till the hard core reserve is burnt-out. Burnt-out hard core reserves will be easy picking for the elite soldiers of the Army.

Military Intelligence, which has been gradually cultivating a 'relationship' with senior LTTE leaders indicate that the remaining Tiger strength will fight to its death. Although some of the LTTE leaders earlier indicated a willingness to defect, they soon realized their fate at the hands of the Army. Knowing there is nowhere to go, the only option these senior leaders and their cadres have is to fight to their death.

The nature of the operation

Even in this very last phase, the Army has not altered its winning formula, which we at DefenceWire revealed to the world for the first-time back in 2007-8. The formula is the two doctrines "Kill 10 a day" and "Don't die for our land, let them die for theirs".

Even the hardest stone starts to crack when beaten continuously. The Tigers are no exception. Although there are casualties to regular troops, it minimizes overall risks like exhaustion and fatigue, dependency and risk of undue danger to elite units etc.

DefenceWire has received credible information that either today or tomorrow, both the 58 and 59 Divisions will cross into the NFZ. An area, roughly 2 miles long and 2 miles wide, roughly half the size of the NFZ has been declared a CSZ.

The final scenario

As the Army moves into the areas surrounding the NFZ, Tigers and their hostages will move into the CSZ. It is the Sri Lanka Army that is dictating terms to the LTTE and deciding when, where, how and by whom the LTTE leader and his associates are killed. There is nothing anyone can do to prevent this. There will not be any high-profile prisoners lingering in state prisons in two weeks.

FYI: Geopolitical Intelligence Report from STRATFOR on May_11_2009

"After U.S. airstrikes killed scores of civilians in western Afghanistan this past week, White House National Security Adviser Gen. James L. Jones said the United States would continue with the airstrikes and would not tie the hands of U.S. generals fighting in Afghanistan. At the same time, U.S. Central Command chief Gen. David Petraeus has cautioned against using tactics that undermine strategic U.S. goals in Afghanistan — raising the question of what exactly are the U.S. strategic goals in Afghanistan."

Media Accuracy

When Dublin university student Shane Fitzgerald posted a poetic but phony quote on Wikipedia, he was testing how our globalized, increasingly Internet-dependent media was upholding accuracy and accountability in an age of instant news.

His report card: Wikipedia passed. Journalism flunked.

So far, The Guardian is the only publication to make a public mea culpa, while others have eliminated or amended their online obituaries without any reference to the original version -- or in a few cases, still are citing Fitzgerald's florid prose weeks after he pointed out its true origin.

Once (IF) LTTE is completely eliminated, will the govt of SL and the Sinhalease address the Tamil grievences? What does the future hold for these 250,000 Tamils that are displased? Will they be ever allowed to return back to their villages? What if the West stops giving aid to SL? How will SL help these people? If these issues are not addressed there will be many more LTTE, hence I used the term IF.

Given the track record of GofSL, I somehow doubt we are on the yellow brick road. I think the true victory is in the hands of not the keyboard kings and queens, but the common sinhala man and woman from the south. Only they can bring peace to this nation!

If you check the author's information, you may find that she is a niece of Sonali Samarasinghe (scum of Sri Lanka) and she calls the departed garbage digger Lasantha wickramathunge to be her "uncle." Given what they have done to Sri Lanka, I believe that all three of them were born from the same location.

What aid from the West? Except some symbolic sums Sri Lanka receives its aid and loans from other nations. (China, Japan, India, Iran, Libya etc).

At the forefront of the Save the Tigers campaign is a section of the western media, either directly or indirectly controlled and/or influenced by their respective governments in spite of their claims of impartiality and independence.

Their recent coverage of the humanitarian situation in the Vanni is a testimony to the fact that they are far from independent and impartial and that they are ready to let ethics fall by the wayside if that suits their agenda. How a BBC story based on a single source that an intelligence dossier on weapons of mass destruction in Iraq was 'sexed up' by the Blair government to make a case for invading Iraq finally drove weapons expert and inspector Dr. David Kelly to suicide in 2003 is a case in point. The attendant scandal shook the BBC to its foundation.

BBC, it may be recalled, blacked out Sinn Fein leaders until the IRA agreed to eschew violence, though its journalists are under strict instructions not to use the term 'terrorists' to describe even the blood thirsty terrorists in other parts of the world. A former BBC correspondent, Pill Rees, boasts in his much publicised yet mediocre book, Dining with Terrorists, that during twenty years of his reporting conflicts, he never used the word 'terrorists' to describe 'armed militants'! What an achievement!

Intriguingly, nothing prevents BBC from producing programmes that lionise terrorists like the one on LTTE suicide cadres, which the LTTE made the best use of for fund raising and indoctrination purposes. It looks as if BBC needed a set of separate guidelines to prevent its personnel from currying favour with and sanitising terrorists to have access to conflict zones and get exclusive stories.

Accelerate the job.
“White House National Security Adviser Gen. James L. Jones said the United States would continue with the airstrikes and would not tie the hands of U.S.”
This is an indirect way of telling Sri Lanka, do not tie the hands of Sri Lanka. We ought to follow our friends. LTTE is always telling lies. Everyday we see the reports of LTTE at tamilnet as shelling in the NFZ or CSZ by SLAF. So let us make LTTE tell the truth on the last day.

Thomson and Thompson, with a “P” and without “P”.

DW,

You have confirmed my sources which I revealed last night!

Killing all top terrorists is not a good idea. We will need at least couple of senior leaders who knows A to Z about their organisation. We can kill them any time we wish. We also do not need to tell anybody that they are alive.

We need to make them sing until we get all info required to pursue PK and other terror masters who are still at large in foreign soil.

We must tap into their $$$ and investments for the damage done to our economy.

We must hunt down all LTTE leading figures in Europe and American continent.

To do all of that, we need atleast two from the following list:

Pukeharan, Pottu, Castro, Soosai and Laurance.

Regarding people who are asking for media access, we should not allow the three major networks. We should allow Asian networks only. Those reporters would report unbiased views. Let the major networks get information from them. That way no one can tell us we are not allowing media in to the war zone. Don't send any white monkeys.

One of the important ones we should not loose sight is Charles. We don't won't the son to take the mantle of the father, although he looks fat and gay.
Lot of people think that the mistake VP made is killing Rajiv. That is not the mistake he made, the mistake he made was not to kill the whole family. The reason he is being hounded right now is because of his children, not because of the death of Rajiv. Otherwise Rajiv would have been forgotten.
So we need to take care of Charles, if you know what I mean.

[ Ananda,
So your obsession with insurgency in India continues.
What I dont understand is,what you actually try to convey by these copy-pasted articles? ]

My Dear Indian,

Looks like you and I are back to square one.

It is very likely that my postings are wasted on you, because you seem to be one of the many hundreds of millions of our cousins in India who are rational humans well disposed towards ALL SRI LANKANS...both Sinhalese...of whom I am a typical albeit irritating specimen...and our inestimable Sri Lankan Tamil brothers.

However, there are also reams of jaundiced Indian citizens, primarily residing deep within Tamil Nadu, who are pointing at Sri Lanka as a place beset with discrimination and terrorism, on which they are qualified to do radical surgery. They have various bitter political prescriptions, like dismembering our country, or forcing a federal system down the narrow passages of our collective Sri Lankan throat, for the problems that India largely inflicted upon us, and for solving local political electoral issues in India. WE DON'T LIKE IT.

So, in a very small way, I am setting about DISABUSING these of our Indian relatives of the notion that they are IN ANY WAY QUALIFIED to preach to us, and that they should attend to their own very large problems orders of magnitude larger than our own, instead of trying to slice and dice Sri Lanka into a casesar salad. Since they seem oblivious to the fires raging in their own backyard, or the very high potential that their medicines are beginning to poison them too, I am....with great kindness I must admit.... diligently working on bringing it to their drifting attention. Perhaps, they can even learn from our misery in Sri Lanka what works and what does not, and DOUSE THOSE FIRES before they swirl BEYOND CONTROL into a maelstrom.

The second objective of my postings, is to make my brother Patriots aware of these events in India so that they have the information necessary to understand what drives Indian politics, and what levers exist within India that can be used for us to collectively PUSH BACK against political moves originating in India adverse to Sri Lanka.

I am a great believer in the approach adopted by many great religious teachers, such as the Lord Buddha and Jesus Christ, of advising the aggressor I want to dissuade to wear the shoes of the victim.

So, when Tamil Nadu residents advocate partitioning Sri Lanka, I come up with equally gut-wrenching proposals to partition Tamil Nadu. When the Indian Govt advocates autonomy for the Tamils of Sri Lanka, I advocate the same for the long-suffering majority Muslim people of Jammu & Kashmir. When Indians advocate kindness and compassion for the LTTE murderers, I advocate the same for the MUMBAI terrorists.

Believe it or not, this very soon gets the attention of the Indian Govt and the Indian people, and they quickly stop advocating radical mastectomies for Sri Lanka. If a critical mass of my Patriots begin to see what can be done to PUSH BACK against the forces arrayed against us, I will have done my job and can return to my game of marbles.

I think I can speak on behalf of most Sri Lankans, that we LOVE INDIA as the fount of our heritage, our peoples, our languages, our religions, our cultures; nay even the way we think is Indian. We can no more DISOWN INDIA than we can disown our PARENTS. However, when the parent becomes myopic and intoxicated, it is the right, nay the DUTY, of the child to provide corrective glasses and take the bottle away. That is the situation in which we, the people of Lanka, find ourselves in.

I acknowledge that INDIA has played a constructive role, in the current phase of the Eelam conflict. But, MUCH MORE needs to be done to EDUCATE the Indian body politic of the VALUE OF NON-INTERFERENCE in the Sri Lanka, and that an UNDIVIDED Sri Lanka, and its majority Sinhala population, is the BEST ALLY THAT THE INDIAN NATION HAS in the ENTIRE South Asian Region.

A Tribute from the ‘opposition’

A decade ago a cricket team that was considered minions was brought to maturity and equal status by the sheer determination and pride of a leader by the name of Arjuna Ranathunga. He gave back what he got and the entire cricketing world took notice and rose to accept Sri Lanka as equals. The heights we reached then were never lost and we are treated equal with the big guns and sometimes considered better.

A decade later an entire nation stood up to the entire world led by the pride and sheer determination of another two leaders at a much higher plain. I am certain from now onwards the entire world will treat us as equals and worthy ‘opponents’. The times that Sri Lanka was considered easy picking by the white and not so white ‘masters’ is no more. The standing Sri Lanka reached and the courage Sri Lanka showed in the ‘darkest hour’ and how we thrashed the lies and agendas of people with dubious motives will teach the world not to mess with this great land and great people anymore. Entire world stood up and took notice of this island Thanks to two brothers Mahinda & Gotabhya Rajapakse. The stature and sheer pride we gained in facing barrage of enemies from the entire world and winning will remain with Sri Lanka for a long time to come.

Thank you Sirs! We owe you for making us proud to be Sri Lankans.

=================================
Of those propaganda hit men

A few days ago the army monitored a conversation between the LTTE's arms procurer turned spokesman KP and a senior Tiger leader trapped in the Vanni via a satellite phone. KP asked his beleaguered colleague to do whatever possible and hold out as he and his foreign allies were doing their best to save them. Less than two days later, a story was floated that a large number of civilians had been killed in an army artillery barrage. It was sourced to a person calling himself a government doctor in the LTTE-held 'no fire zone'. The Health Ministry has denied the presence of any ‘government doctor’ in that area! (The real source was the LTTE’s web arm TamilNet.)

Obviously, the LTTE spin doctors were trying to prepare the ground for Sri Lanka's humanitarian situation to be taken up by the UN Security Council.

British and French Foreign Ministers David Miliband and Bernard Kouchner––who look Thomson and Thomson in Tintin comics because of their well coordinated yet inane actions––made, true to form, another abortive attempt to move the UN Security Council against Sri Lanka the other day. Their thundering pratfall signifies the solidarity of the civilised world with Sri Lanka. Their ignominious failure is also a pointer that the western powers are fast losing their grip on the rest of the world and their neo colonial strategies aimed at global domination have failed to yield the intended results. The US and its allies are losing ground not only to the donkey-riding primitive Taliban savages but also to a collective of sovereign states determined to defeat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. The angry reaction of the Obama administration to the Rajapaksa government’s refusal to let go of terrorists has been to block an IMF loan to Sri Lanka.

CNN is no better. A few years ago one of its glorified yet naïve correspondents had the temerity to tell the world from Colombo itself that both the LTTE and the Sri Lankan army used child soldiers! That was how he sought to 'balance' his story! There is a misconception among some people in this part of the world that the western media are run by super humans not capable of wrongdoing. And some Sri Lanka watchers have gone to the extent of arguing that the western media should be given unrestricted access to the Vanni so that they could see the situation there for themselves and tell the world the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. We don't approve of the government's decision to keep the welfare centres out of bounds for the media but it is only wishful thinking that the western media will report the true situation, even if granted access. Here is an example:

Eason Jordan, chief news executive of the cable network, confessed in an article on The New York Times op-ed page on April 11, 2003 that CNN had for years suppressed important news about the Iraqi dictatorship, as it thought reporting the truth would jeopardise the network's Iraqi employees. He said he thought such reportage, might also have got CNN kicked out of the country, too, and that apparently was a price CNN was not willing to pay. The Herald Sun, which filed a report on the NYT article described what CNN had done thus: "They chose to shill for Saddam rather than be shown the border." So much for CNN's independence, impartiality and professionalism! One is reminded of how the Swedish media sided with Hitler during WW II to save their skin and in the process had themselves practising the oldest profession in the world!

David A. Schlesinger, Reuters' global managing editor taking exception to the insertion of the word 'terrorist/s" into his agency's dispatches by some newspapers had this to say in justification of soft-pedalling the issue of terrorism: "My goal is to protect our reporters and protect our editorial integrity." It was a lapsus linguae: Reuters won't call a spade a spade for fear of reprisal. What?

An editorial in the Ottawa Citizen, eloquently countered Schlesinger's argument:

"Terrorism is a technical term. It describes a modus operandi, a tactic. We side with security professionals who define terrorism as the deliberate targeting of civilians in pursuit of a political goal. Those who bombed the nightclub in Bali were terrorists. Suicide bombers who strap explosives to their bodies and blow up people eating in a pizza parlour are terrorists. The men and women who took a school full of hostages in Beslan, Russia, and shot some of the children in the back as they tried to flee to safety were terrorists. We as journalists do not violate our impartiality by describing them as such. Ironically, it is supposedly neutral terms like 'militant' that betray a bias, insofar as they have a sanitising effect. Activists for various political causes can be 'militant,' but they don't take children hostage."

Scott Anderson, editor-in-chief of CanWest Publications said that Reuters' policy 'undermined journalistic principles,' and asked: 'If you're couching language to protect people, are you telling the truth?' We find ourselves on all fours with him!

Thus, it should be clear that the western media are not infallible and they rarely hesitate to compromise principles for expedience. It was not for nothing that CNN was once dubbed the 'Clinton News Network'. In fact, they are evidently doing so, where Sri Lanka's war is concerned. Most of them have lent themselves to their governments and INGOs as propaganda hit men.

So, it is not surprising that some international media outfits are collaborating with Miliband and Kouchner, who are all out to save Prabhakaran and perpetuate Sri Lanka's conflict so that the western powers could keep on feeling India's soft belly from this side of the Palk Strait until time is ripe to sink the dagger.

It is not being argued that the situation in the Vanni welfare centres for the war displaced is nice and cosy. There are, of course, problems, most of which seem to be teething in nature. And the government is doing its utmost either altruistically or under pressure to improve those unfortunate people's lot. But, there is no humanitarian catastrophe contrary to unsubstantiated claims by the western media to that effect. The living conditions of the war displaced are certainly far better than those of the marginalized Black Americans in ghettos, the homeless in big American cities who are reduced to frozen cadavers in their numbers every winter night, and the poor languishing in Mumbai slums notorious for Delhi belly or foraging in dustbins and feasting on garbage in Bihar or Tamil Nadu.

It is one thing to keep the government on its toes in handling the victims of war-––and that needs to be done––but it is quite another to blow the humanitarian situation out of proportion and propagate diabolical lies about the war displaced in a bid to vilify this country and save the terrorists awaiting decapitation.

What the western media must do is not to exploit human suffering to gain undue mileage or support their governments and terrorists but to do factual reporting so as to help ameliorate the plight of those hapless victims with international assistance.

my favorite part:

"...At the current rate of escalation, it might just be a matter of time before these terrorists start bombing and killing in Toronto. They have lost the battle, and the war, in Sri Lanka, and it seems more than likely that they’re now trying to establish some sort of bridgehead in Toronto from which to continue their fighting...."

Rajiv's Assassin to be RELEASED?

My Comment:

This is WHY Prabhakaran should not be Extradited ALIVE to INDIA: You WILL RELEASE HIM because of POLITICS. We will certainly deliver Velupillai Prabhakaran's DEAD body to INDIA, in the company of POTTU AMMAN ALIVE. INDIA can have the pleasure of drawing and quartering that DEAD BODY and hanging it up at the four doors of the Lok Sabha, if only to remind themselves of the DANGERS of SPONSORING TERRORISM in OTHER COUNTRIES. Then, they can go through the process of prosecuting & executing Pottu Amman for Rajiv' Gandhi's assasination. Where ever the LTTE GOES, DEATH FOLLOWS! LTTE = Leading Tamils To Extinction.

.......................

'Don't release Rajiv's assassin'May 12, 2009

[ NEW DELHI: Opposing a plea for release of one of the assassins of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, the Tamil Nadu government has told the Supreme Court that he may rejoin the Tamil Tigers if freed.

"The current fight between LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) and the Sri Lanka government may again infuse passion in him to act against the law," said the state government, replying to the plea from P.R. Ravichandran, who is serving life term.

The state government told the court that section 435 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) stipulates that "in cases where the central government is vitally concerned, the state government shall exercise its power of remission or commutation nly after consultation with the central government".

Accordingly, "the consultation with the central government or order of central government is necessary for the state government to exercise its power to remit or commute the sentence", said the Tamil Nadu government.

The apex court had Oct 17 last year issued notice to the state government seeking its reply to Ravichandran's plea.

In jail since May 11, 1992, Ravichandran was involved in the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi in 1991 and was convicted by an anti-terror court at Ponamalee jail in Tamil Nadu under various penal offences, including the anti-terror law and the explosive act.

For his various offences, he was awarded both capital punishment and life sentence on Jan 28, 1998. The Supreme Court later commuted his sentences to life term.

"The petitioner was involved in the killing of 16 persons - a prime minister, nine police officers and six citizens. The killing was a pre-planned conspiracy, successfully executed with his active help to his other accomplices," said the state government's affidavit.

"Hence the government was constrained to consider his case differently than the other life convicts," it said.

Ravichandran moved the court challenging a Tamil Nadu government's decision not to remit his sentence despite over 16 years of incarceration as he was involved in the assassination of a former prime minister.

An advisory board had also recommended against his release on the apprehension that he might revive his links with the banned LTTE.

Currently serving his term in solitary confinement in Vellore Central Jail, Ravichandran, in his petition, also questioned the state government's apprehension on possibilities of revival of his links with LTTE. ]

govt will ONLY address SRI LANKAN GRIEVANCES OF EVERYONE. equal rights and equal responsibilities is the key. that can be done without looking from a racial point of view.

tamil grievences.

1. language issue - addressed (tamil is also a national language)
2. university issue - addressed
(MORE than tripple the % of tamils in universities)
3. riots issue - addressed
(no more riots after 1983)
4. devolution issue - addressed.
(13th amedment)

NO MORE grievenaces to address.

tamil aspirations.

1. tamil homelands - kiss my dick

3. tamil soveregnty - blow my dick
4. tamil right of self determination - continue the blow job.

Anandasangaree,President of TULF, said in a letter to the President Mahinda Rajapaksha on today (May 12)."

ASS you are worse than tamilnet which says only (47 + 55 = 102) casualties. you say, (26 + 10 + 100 = 136!!!) casualties.

According to the letter, "Please intervene and stop firing shells targeting terrified civilians. Also arrange a medical team to visit Mullivaikal where over thousand casualties of other incident are also awaiting medical attention for two days. Even if this is an act of the LTTE the Government has a duty to save the civilians."

ASS, of course the govt has a duty to save civilians and that is what EXACTLY the govt is doing!!!!

but govt cannot stop LTTE firing shells. you must know this. don't highlight and exaggerate tamilnet news items. BTW you forgot to mention the source!!

without suggesting fancy solutions, support the govt's humanitarian operation by not highlighting and not exaggerating tamilnet news items.

On the contrary, I find DC's postings quite useful and QUITE RELEVANT. I go to many websites in search of information.

However, I find DC's lists get me the basics of what I need, if I don't have time to a full search. Defence Column sifts through a lot of that and summarizes it for me here.

In my view, Defence Columns lists do not detract from DW, it only adds to it. I do not hold passing through DC to the original article against Defence Column at all.

When is the govenment going to do something about this. Have we become a nation of cowards. On top of that they have the gall to threaten the Canadian government by issuing statement telling us that this will happen again if we do not give in to their demands. In any other country they would have been forcibly removed. Time for Canada to show some resolve, and let these minority group know that this type of total disregard for our Canadian laws will not be tolerated. I've said it before and I think it is worth noting again here to remind my fellow Canadians of the difference between 'Tamils' and 'Tamil Tigers' and divisions within this global community of roughly 78 million.

Please realize that there are, as stated above, roughly 78 million Tamils in the world. Only about 1-3 million of them support the LTTE and only 0.5-1 million of them actually are so brainwashed to the point that they take to the streets and disrupt the way of life of the countries they immigrated to (selfishly, arrogantly, unjustly and counter-productively I may add).

The remaining 75 - 77 million Tamils in the world (96 - 99% of ALL Tamils in the world) are educated, good, generous and kind, compassionate, hard-working, decent people who are peace-seeking and MODERATES to whom these criminal protesters and Tamil Tiger / LTTE protesters are a major disgrace, stain on their culture and who give the Tamil people a bad name. It is also worth noting that these protesters are frowned upon and are a laughing stock among Tamils.

Bugger! More gems from CBC News. Fatty's toast and educated Tamils are turning up their nose on Fatty's fan club in Canada.

We all have many aspirations!

I had an aspiration to step on moon one day, but I realized that it would never become a reality, so that I settled for setting foot in the US.

I had the aspiration to have my own kingdom with many beautiful women as I could gather, but I realized that it may not become a reality and settle to be the king of my house and have one loving wife.

I had the aspiration win the Lottery and bought N number of Super bowl tickets, but soon I realized that it is not becoming a reality and settled for my own business that keeps feeding my family.

I still have many aspirations, but from time to time, reality checks make me settle for something real that is not out of bounds of this world.

And by the way, all those aspirations are "legitimate aspirations" too!

And when it comes to my grievances, the story is the same.

I had many grievances with many organizations, politicians, news agencies, family members, neighbors, friends, rich people, drunk people, LTTE, BBC, AFP, AP, UN, ICRC, HRW etc etc in each and every step of my life.

And they are "Legitimate Grivances" too.

However, from time to time, through various steps I have learned to absorb them and learned to live with reality.

So, my Tamil friends, you also will have all the "legitimate" (legitimate to you) aspirations and grievances too... and I will certainly understand where you would come from. However, I ask you also to do a reality check and come to the reality.

In future, there will not be any EELAM, only "Equal Rights" (as it is the case now too) for every citizen of Sri Lanka. Watch my mouth. If you do not like "Equal Opportunities" and being treated "equal", then this country is NOT for you! Perhaps ask David Milband, Hilary Clinton, Eric Solheim, Kouchner, or Harper etc., they may able to give some EELAM from their countries. How about suburbs of Scarborough in Canada or Wimbeldon in London? But you have to be nice.. Suicide bombing or self-immolation both won't work!

Nope! Do not even think of blocking a major highway. I knew you were thinking about M25!

Health Ministry questions Dr. Shanmugarajah's credibility

HealthCare and Nutrition Ministry Secretary Dr. H.A.P. Kahandaliyanage has questioned the veracity and credibility of statements attributed to a doctor said to be working in the no-fire zone in the North-East.

In a letter to the Disaster Management and Human Rights Ministry, he states: "I wish to draw your attention to a statement released by one Dr Shanmugarajah, allegedly a District Medical Officer (DMO) of a hospital in the Mullaitivu District, that has been circulated to foreign media agencies. I am made to understand that in this release it is stated that indiscriminate shelling and firing by the Security Forces has resulted in more than 300 civilian casualties."

The Health Secretary added: "The Provincial Director of Health Services in the Northern Province has informed me that though a Dr. Shanmugarajah had worked as a Medical Officer in the Mullaitivu District, he has had no contact with the Provincial Health Authorities or the Ministry of Healthcare and Nutrition since October 2008.

Therefore no credibility can be given to statements released by Dr. Shanmugarajah in any capacity."

Cautioning against reliance on the statements made by this person, Dr. Kahandaliyanage states: "The international community should view this and future statements if released by this alleged DMO, Dr Shanmugarajah with caution.

As the Provincial Health Authorities and the Ministry of Healthcare and Nutrition has had no information as to the existence and whereabouts of this officer since October 2008, and is of the view that such statements are being made with the vested interest of bringing disrepute to the Government of Sri Lanka."

I am sure for several years remnants of LTTE will try to harm the motherland- with the help of the Norwegians and the rest of the ass holes.

I sometime think Sri Lanka should at least make the basic defense equipment and many more items- Navy is doing it. But we need to make the guns, bullets, motors as the money that we would normally spend on these we can spend on high tech items. We could sell them to other countries. If LTTE did this - why not us.

This could employ disabled veterans- we should never forget them. It is disgusting Ranil balla trying to score points on the back of the dead, injured and still living brave soldiers.

Hats off to the Sri Lankan Lady and the Tamil Guy who was debating for us. They were debating well. The LTTE women was extremely good. She was the type of people we want debating for us.

Dedicated To Our Brave Hearts

The march is almost over;
Day is almost done;
Yet, don’t loose the cumbrous knapsack,
Yet, don’t drop the heavy gun.
Chilled, wet and weary,
Or, humid, sweet and tiring,
Wander to and fro,
Seeking to destroy the menace
Firing amidst the sand.
Round the bright blaze gather,
Heed not rain or wind;
Ye are lion soldiers,
Stout, brave and bold.
Never look back or down,
Yet subdued a foe
Who but asked for comfort
On a bed of thorny sand.
Rollicking, 'midst the darkness,
until tiger men are found,
There devoutly kneeling
On the sandy Mulatiev ground -
Pleading for their dream state,
Guarding its prey, in its hour of woe -
For the soldiers marching
To save the innocents.
Lost in heavy dunes,
Free from toil and strife,
Dreaming of their dear ones -
Home, and child, and wife -
Tentless they are lying,
While the stars gleaming low -
Lying in their elbows and knees
'Midst of the no fire zone,
To Finish the Job at Hand

(MORE than tripple the % of tamils in universities)
3. riots issue - addressed

On the last, did not the government pay compensation to lost property. (But granted we cannot make the dead come alive - for that matter ask Millibanda - he may say he could)

I always thought 83 was stupid who ever did it. We are still paying for it- even though many Sinhalese protected Tamils. LTTE bastards conveniently forget that thanked us by killing the poor farmers and their families in the boarder villages - That is and was the war without witnesses- not this where Tamilnut propaganda and lies become the "nothing but the Truth"

A MUST READ ARTICLE ON TERRORIST MEDIA STRATEGY

My Comment:
[ Long Ranger,

An excellent article Decoding media's war against a Military on insurgent strategy in 4GW warfare.

This article should be required reading for military analysts as well as government legislators and policy makers of every democracy in the world.

If these strategies are not understood, appreciated, and effectively countered, the democratic form of government will cease to exist, because the very freedoms guaranteed by democracy are being turned against them to destroy them from within.

Congratulations on writing a truly winning article.

Ananda,Thushitha,CASC,
Thanks a lot for your comments.Just back after exercising my democratic right - voting.

The problem that India and Srilanka have now is not having complete trust on each other. Both have their own reasons to do so.But both have realised extremely well that they need each other and peace and harmony in one is vital for the another.

As long as this realisation holds good,I feel the trut too will grow.

LTTE is seen as India's problem as much as it is seen as Srilanka's.

Ananda,
About your posts on insurgencies,I never said we dont have any issues. We do have issues but they have been culled in the past and will be culled in the future as well.My point of view is,the insurgencies we have now can be faced by the Indian state and we can come over it unscathed.

I believe most of you here of the opinion that TN is sympathizing towards LTTE,which is NOT the truth at all.Yes,we have few dumbo's doing that, but if you see the clout or the following they have, its very easy to understand this.

The current noise level in TN we have is courtesy DMK and its aeging leader Karuna. When CPI took the Lankan issue first,it hoped to whip up passion amongst the people as it didnt have any other issue to do so.It didnt materialize. However Karuna not wanting to loose his self imposed position as the Guardian of the Tamil's decide to go one up on CPI and it opened the pandora's box.We have had this issue being used to polarize people. But the fact remains that it hasnt.

It has got to do with the political alignments. If for example,DMK+PMK+MDMK+VCK had stood together and said this, atleast it would have had some level of credibility amongst the people as these parties have always done so in some form in the past. However the current political alignment, fortunately for India, has exposed all the parties. The common view is voting on this issue is not going to bring about anything fruitful as people have realised it as a pure electoral gimmick. The common man in TN will vote today on common issue's.

Above all TN people have clear view's while voting for the State and for the Centre. If you look at the past election results you can understand this clearly.

But all this can be understood if you have deep knowledge on Tamil politics or if you have free access to the ground. When you pick something from web, obviously it will give a wrong impression.

Now that Srilanka stands at the doorstep's of a new future,I hope the government takes the estranged people escaping the clutches of war with open arms and culls the root cause of this problem.Tiger's are not the cause of this problem. The reason why Tiger's came into existance needs to be addressed and I am sure with the current set of leadership you have,it wont be a issue.Ofcourse it will be tough for them as politico's will try to gain mileage and play hardball, but with will its possible.

Lastly,I have been pained a lot by some of the comments aimed at my country.I know those comments arose out of passion to your motherland and I too have the same level of passion and commitment to my country.
To all those people who had a go at India,I would like to say to you that "India had a decisive role to play in the destruction of the Tigers;A role which is no smaller than what it played in their creation".I take a lot of pride in that.
With that,I believe India has done a huge course correction viz a viz Srilanka, which has been reciprocated by the GoSL as well, and I sincerely hope it signals the dawn of a new budding relationship between our two countries.

Let say the election goes to the dogs in India. But lets hope LTTE is finished by then. In that case- do you think we may see what Indira did for LTTE being done by the Fat Woman in ToiletNadu. Would the center be so weak that they may not have the strength to counter it?

When I was a teenager and part of a boy scout troop, a VIP visited our scout troop and shook hands with the scouts. The man was rather stiff and awkward in the company of children. That man was Ranil Wickremasinghe, Minister of Youth Affairs in the JRJ government. Later he became Minister of Industries during the Premadasa regime. By all accounts he was qualified and played a meaningful role in that position. During the later part of the IPKF-era and when the JVP was causing havoc by killing UNP members, I was quite impressed to see the same man walking around and driving his own car in Colombo without any kind of police escort. After the demise of Athulathmudali, Premadasa, and Gamini Dissanayake, Dingiri Banda Wijetunga who was thrust to the position of President supposedly asked Premadasa's closest confidante, Sirisena Cooray, and ex-President J. R.J. "The old fox" who should be the next Prime Minister. They both chose Ranil Wickremasinghe. Immediately after taking office, Ranil threw out some of the very same people who selected him. First went Sirisena Cooray and then the rest of the UNP old guard. During the Chandrika regime, because of CBK's erratic behavior, he was able to form a government with many SLFP cross-overs who were fed up with CBK. As in the JVP era, during the CBK regime, he was seen in many places with minimal security. If the LTTE wanted to get him, they surely could have got him at any time. Obviously, the LTTE believed it was in their best interests to keep him alive.

When it comes to politics, no matter how many elections he has lost, he does not want to relinquish his right to the throne. A few weeks ago at a UNP executive committee meeting, according to someone who was there, members nearly came to fist fights and were using profanity over Ranil Wickremasighe's continuing role in the party. Obviously he is neither loved by his own party members or by the rest of the country.
Yet he will not go away. He obviously thinks that he has some sort of divine right to rule the country that overrides any other concerns. At this very moment, when history is about to be made in Sri Lanka by the complete destruction of the LTTE as a military organization, he sees it fit to tour European capitals for reasons no one can comprehend. Ranil Wickremasinghe is a mysterious man and a man full of contradictions.

ananda_usa wrote:

Terrorists are now using the freedoms offered by the Democratic System of Government to destroy democracies from within. Western Democracies wage wars against terrorism in far off lands to assure their own survival, preaching democracy vociferously, but find cover for their own transgressions of a much wider scale by preaching to small thrid world democracies that are courageously fighting-off terrorism in their own countries. There are few, if any, examples in recent times of a democracy successfully defending itself against terrorism...Sri Lanka is the sole example.

Here is a government that for 30 years tried to accomodate a murderous separatist movement by trying to appease it short of offering a separate state, but failed due to the intrasigence of the LTTE. Every offer was viewed as weakness, just as Hitler viewed Allied offers on the eve of WW-II. Finally, Sri Lankans have had enough, and ALL BY THEMSELVES, without asking for FOREIGN MILITARY INTERVENTION as in Iraq and elsewhere, is DOING THE JOB THEMSELVES. In the meantime, the Western Democracies, and self-serving Human Rights Organizations dependent on continuation of conflicts for their livelihood, are doing erything possible to keep the conflict going, for their own political and pecuniary reasons. A so called "politico-humanitarian" system is now in place that will ENSURE THE FINAL DESTRUCTION of DEMOCRACY EVERYWHERE, including Western Democracy Champions that adopt and perpetuate these DOUBLE STANDARDS. ]

Guyz, Govt. i not giving a damn on :
1). IMP Loan
2). Miliband+Hillary orgy
3). Indian Election
4). Media distortion including CNN polls

Because all these people trying to rescue VP but not the people. Miliband's flight hire cost (£ 160,000) to SL it self could have provide many permanent houses.

Hillary's fund raising was doen by TRO mens in USA.

So there is no difference that if we bowed to them or not. They are not freinds. Thanks to them we have been moved more towards China-Pak-Russia axis

We too have casualties as expected at this stage but it is clearly visible that LTTE can't handle (or even think) multiple frontal asault of SLA. They dont have strategy, they are now firing everywhere and in total panic.

Contrast to what DW said, there are significant carders surrendered in last few days.

And for the fans of pork meat..you may not able to see that becasue others trying to follow the instructions and burn him.

Govt. is considering DNA profiles and who knows after VP got killed the perons suppose to burn him may hande over the body to SLA for his safety.

Tigers’ Sea-borne Night Attack Repulsed

[Updated :: 2009-05-13 11:32:26 Hours || Home]

MULLAITTIVU : 59 Division troops operating in the general area of WADDUVAKAL successfully thwarted another sea-borne suicide attack by Tiger terrorists Tuesday (12) evening around 9.30 p.m. destroying four of those LTTE fast attack craft heading towards troops.

According to the troops, terrorists’ intention was to launch an amphibious attack after splitting into in small groups on the shore in the dark and direct a ground attack on troops, engaged in rescuing innocent civilians trapped in terrorist-held areas.

However, troops valiantly fought till about 1.30 a.m. this morning (13) and killed many terrorists while inflicting heavy casualties among the remaining terrorists who withdrew towards the deep sea.

Another similar attempt by the Sea Tiger terrorists onboard a flotilla of boats was also repulsed by troops.

Do not under estimate LTTE at last breathe because they have nothing to loose but hell of a lot to gain by fighting hard. So, giving something like 48 hours is a pure joke!!!

Hi are we going to approach another tiger propaganda blitz like 5000 dead, blah, blah blah. I am sure all the Tamil net guys are ready to publish some bullshit tonight when the SLA start the fire fight.

Can't we take at least one media guy to the front lines at least to show there are no heavy weapons being fired.

Dear Udara Lanka ,

CNN Poll
This poll is being viewed by many millions and of course it matters. How can you clarify that it this is a useless poll?
Just because there’s a bend in the road you want to turn back go? ( and also you want drag others with you). I am sorry this is a typical negative attitude which paralyses the positive thinking process.

Remember the real fight will be fought on the cyber in the future. I think we should try to use better ways and outsmart them in their own game. This is a good learning process for us.
You have the right for your own opinion and I do respect it but please do not discourage others.

Remember the saying ;
“Think you can,
Think you can’t,
Either way you are right”

I heard from a credible source that that some corrupt elements in the army have ganged up with some tamil inmates in the welfare camps (including some tamil doctors) and have started an extortion racket. It is said for a price of Rs 100000per person, the release can be secured from the camps. Not good. Hope someone can do something about it.

I am sure the bunch of cowards will sing like canaries & expose all their foreign/local contacts & dirty secrets et al. all the skeletons will be out of their dirty cupboards. although they scarifice others like heroes, there is a chance that they will surrender wanting to live. so if we play it smart we can unearth & expose a treasure trove of international terror activities/acvtivists.

this is excatly what some filthy terrorist sponsoring westerners such as norway/britain/france/USA/sweden are mortally scared of. being exposed.

BTW the recently exposed fact about fat pig directly descending from kerala malayalees & not sri lankan tamils answer a lot of questions that has been bugging me.

questions such as his total lack of regard for tamil children & civilians. obviously he was very aware of his anscestory & thought of tamils as an inferior race. he thought indian kerala malayalees being superior & sri lankan tamils as expendable.

everything points to his thinking as indian tamils being superior. his foolish & blind faith in indian politicians is another fact. he even expected the congress to dismiss rajiv's murder & speak on his behalf. i wonder what was going on in his sick & confused mind?

if I am not mistaken even his wife is indian.

Defence Column,

As I said before, you are doing a great job. You are earning sweat equity in the survival and future glory of the Motherland. Who will know? My friend, YOU will know...and that is all that matters. May the Triple Gem Bless you, and Protect you, and yours, always.

The contribution each patriot makes to the Motherland, no matter how small, is meritorious. When we offer flowers at a Buddhist temple, it is not their number, value, beauty, or whether you picked up and offered a fallen flower, that matters, but the underlying intent and devotion.

Likewise, every Patriot has an opportunity here to make a contribution, of some size, in some way, at some time. Every person who so contributes, will influence a host of family and friends, adding to and strengthening the Ran-Weta protecting our country.

Each of us who participates here becomes aware that we are not alone and helpless, but one of an ever growing band of brothers and sisters, ready and willing to help protect our country and our people. In ways both delicate and subtle, that may not be immediately obvious, we are building a network of Patriots who can be relied upon to DEFEND the Motherland NOW and in the FUTURE.

Our strength will lie in our numbers, our unity, and our devotion to the cause. For this reason, we have to be careful how we treat each other, and not to turn away disappointed and unappreciated even one patriot for want of patience and tolerance, for that would be a great loss for all of us.

Now that these terrorists and their supporters will be routed from the island for ever and to show the conniving international community that we mean business I would suggest the following steps.
1, I think the people in the recent IDP camps are supporters of this terror outfit and those remaining NFZ are the hardcore civilians that were directly supporting the terror movement.GOSL must request the IC to accept them or settle them in TN as their continuous presence will give reasons for agitation by the Diaspora and the IC.
2, Going by what late MR Ranjan Wijeratne said ‘winner takes all’. We must rename whole of vanni.
Change Vanni to Mahinda Pura and Towns to heroic officer’s names like Mannar to Gagath Pura.Killinorchi to SF Pura,Mullethuve to Sharavinda Pura etc.
3, Resettle the citizens in the correct proportions in the north, Vanni and in Eastern province.
4, Ban all the racist sounding and religious affiliated parties and leave only the two main parties and the JVP and the latter must be compelled to have more moderate policies in line with any other liberal or radical fringe of any democracy. Get rid of the PR system as this dilutes our democracy that introduces thugs and undesirable cronies in to a party and the regime in power.
Mustn’t leave or give any opportunity for this conflict to re emerge as we this owe it our future generations.

Dear Indian,

Thank you for your kind comments. My responses follow.

[ Ananda,
About your posts on insurgencies,I never said we dont have any issues. We do have issues but they have been culled in the past and will be culled in the future as well.My point of view is,the insurgencies we have now can be faced by the Indian state and we can come over it unscathed.
]

I think that many Indian citizens, as well as Indian politicians in general, minimize the extent and prevalence of terrorism in India, its impact on your society with respect to respect for law and order, and its rate of growth.

For example, did you read the text of the NEWSWEEK article on Maoists in Jarkhand I posted recently at DW? That reminded me of our experience in Sri Lanka, in both the JVP and LTTE insurgencies. Since then, there has been a general decline in respect for the law, and an increase in violence in Sri Lanka, even in the South, just as is happening in India now.

Both events of terrorism basically paralyzed the country, and required a high-level of counter force to be applied to restore law and order. That India is not mentally prepared to do yet. Pakistan was also reluctant to take firm action to restore the writ of the Govt, and is doing so only now on a grand scale. Whether they will have the will and determination to persist through to eradication of the Taliban from Pakistan, remains to be seen. It is also a case of excessive complacency, and of doing too little, too late.

After eradication of the LTTE, Sri Lanka will have to get to work in earnest to restore the civil and secure society that prevailed when I was a child in Sri Lanka. I know India will ultimately restore law and order; but it will be a cathartic and difficult process. Whether any secessionist movements, will succeed, only time will tell. Although the resurgence of secessionist violence is beginning only now in TN, I predict that violence in TN will accelerate rapidly in the years ahead. TN may be the first state in India to successfully secede.

[ I believe most of you here of the opinion that TN is sympathizing towards LTTE,which is NOT the truth at all.Yes,we have few dumbo's doing that, but if you see the clout or the following they have, its very easy to understand this.

]

Since we debated this issue in the past, my convictions about the threat to both Sri Lanka and India from pro-LTTE Tamil Nationalism in Tamil Nadu has only increased and solidified.

I know you dismiss my views because I don't live there, and my information comes from what I read in print and on the web. Why? Is it not news written by TN journalists for consumption by TN residents? I am just another consumer. I may not have ALL THE GROUND ZERO DETAILS obtainable by living there 365 days of the year, but that level of detail is not important anyway to form an OVERVIEW impression of the politics, motivations and trends.

You say the current events are only ELECTION gundus, and ONLY A FEW PEOPLE in TN support them. But, now, not only the traditional rabble rousers like Vaiko, Ramadoss and Thirumavalavan are advocating EELAM, but also Karunanidhi, and most surprisingly Jayalalitha. Are all of them going to abandon their assertions after elections? In fact, the LTTE platform is to support the AIADMK having decided that Karunanidhi is ineffective. This collection of politicos supporting the pro-LTTE stand now comprises ALL OF THE PROMINENT POLITICIANS and PARTY LEADERS of TN. It is said that VAIKO is going to win by a LANDSLIDE...as a result of LTTE MONEY and LTTE activist support.

Moreover, unlike you, I believe that LTTE money and activists are going to descend massively on TN in the future as well, displace most of the traditional pro-LTTE politicians, and are going to basically take over TN at the next state and Lok Sabha elections. They will buy officials, the news media, the state police...just anyone who can be bribed as they are doing abroad; others will be terrorized, silenced and driven out of politics. You guys have a learning curve ahead of you.

I don't think your TN politicians will have ANY CHANCE of preventing that. Those Indian Tamils who don't like the LTTE will be marginalized, pitted against each other, and terrorized into silence. They will initiate class warfare against the richer segments of the population to silence them. Only the Federal Govt of India will be able to stop it, by moving in early to suspend the pandering State Govt, and rooting out all LTTE activists under the aegis of the national POTA. Do I think the Federal Govt will succeed? Only if they act fast...time will tell. So we do differ fundamentally in this regard.

[ Now that Srilanka stands at the doorstep's of a new future,I hope the government takes the estranged people escaping the clutches of war with open arms and culls the root cause of this problem.Tiger's are not the cause of this problem. ]

Don't worry, the GOSL and the Sinhala people have enormous compassion for our fellow Sri Lankan Tamil citizens, and a willingness to receive them with open arms as we are doing even now. That may not seem to be the case to you, now that the LTTE has succeeded again in DEMONIZING us, but we are much better people than others think we are. However, don't mistake that for future lack of firmness against terrorism, or that it will translate to accommodating any aspirations that are different from the common aspirations of all citizens of Sri Lanka.

[ The reason why Tiger's came into existance needs to be addressed and I am sure with the current set of leadership you have,it wont be a issue.Ofcourse it will be tough for them as politico's will try to gain mileage and play hardball, but with will its possible. ]

Now here you display your ignorance of the FACTS of why the Tigers came into existence in Sri Lanka. The "Tamil Grievances" were minor and largely manufactured to fit the agenda. The reality is that the military weakness of Sri Lanka, a mono-ethnic idealogy of racial superiority, coupled to political encouragement and support, military training, funding, and delivery of terrorists by the state of TN, and the Federal govt. of India were the REASONS for the Tamil Eelam struggle. Sri Lankans Tamils were ENCOURAGED, TEMPTED AND MISLED into a venture they would never have contemplated by themselves, if they did not have that external support.

The Tamils were privileged members of Sri Lankan Society then, benefited even more than the Sinhala people from the social progress and equity promoted by successive Sinhala dominated Govts of Sri Lanka.

I also hope you are not advocating that we offer political solutions amounting to power devolution under a federal system to address these manufactured "Tamil Grievances" and separate "Tamil National Aspirations". That will not happen, because the Govt will fall from the outrage of the people. What will happen is Strict Enforcement of EQUAL RIGHTS AND EQUAL RESPONSIBILITIES...not setting up an autonomous state now now that can ease into a separate state later; that was the crux of this conflict. I hope the GOSL will pursue a program of ETHNIC INTEGRATION very quickly, to develop a single Sri Lankan identity, as one country inhabited by one Sri Lankan people with one national destiny.

[ Lastly,I have been pained a lot by some of the comments aimed at my country.I know those comments arose out of passion to your motherland and I too have the same level of passion and commitment to my country.
To all those people who had a go at India,I would like to say to you that "India had a decisive role to play in the destruction of the Tigers;A role which is no smaller than what it played in their creation".I take a lot of pride in that.
]

The events of the last 30 years have not been kind to either Sri Lanka or India. But, whereas Sri Lanka did nothing bad to India, Sri Lanka's problems were DELIBERATELY CREATED BY INDIA WITH MALICE; so INDIA must accept the blame. I have no doubt you love INDIA, and I understand your pain when your country is rightfully identified as the aggressor.

However, our PAIN as Sri Lankans is much greater: it is LARGELY OUR PEOPLE WHO DIED, OUR COUNTRY THAT WAS BROUGHT TO THE BRINK OF DIVISION, OUR FUTURES THAT HAVE SUFFERED, OUR ECONOMY THAT WAS DESTROYED, OUR REPUTATION AS A PEOPLE THAT WAS DEMONIZED. The damaged relations between our countries CAN BE MENDED, indeed MUST BE MENDED, for as I wrote before, we are close cousins with a common heritage.

But, until the level of confidence and trust that existed in the past is restored, Sri Lanka will have to look to its defences, because we CANNOT DEPEND ON THE STABILTY INTERNAL INDIAN POLITICS AND FRIENDSHIP where our survival is concerned.

{ With that,I believe India has done a huge course correction viz a viz Srilanka, which has been reciprocated by the GoSL as well, and I sincerely hope it signals the dawn of a new budding relationship between our two countries. ]

Yes, Indeed, all of us in Sri Lanka join you in HOPING for that! Things have significantly improved in Indo-Sri Lanka relations in the last two years. Hopefully, INDIAN policy will remain unchanged irrespective of which party comes to power at the center in the current elections.

However, I have NO CONFIDENCE in that. It will all depend on what happens in TAMIL NADU. If TN is captured by pro-LTTE political forces at the next Lok Sabha elections, I think the INDIAN GOVT will change its policy towards Sri Lanka as they did in Indira Gandhi's time. In the final analysis, Tamil Nadu will ALWAYS MATTER MORE TO INDIA than Sri Lanka; and Sri Lanka will be dispensible.

Anticipating that REALITY, Sri Lanka must place itself in a position Diplomatically, Militarily and Economically, to make it impossible for ANY changes in INDIAN policy inimical to Sri Lanka to significantly affect the SURVIVAL and PROSPERITY of Sri Lanka.
