Progress in all areas

Around 25 LTTE cadres were killed when a team of about 100 cadres launched a counter attack at Adampan last morning. 2 soldiers were also killed in the fighting. The attack was anticipated following intelligence warnings (please see last report).

Small teams of soldiers are usually positioned ahead of the Army's existing FDL and artillery, including MBRL units are kept on standby at night in case of an enemy counter attack. Artillery crews and small groups of soldiers change patrols in the evening and sometimes again in the early morning and fresh teams are deployed in their place. Therefore no special preparations were necessary to counter the LTTE counter attack, which came shortly after 2.30am yesterday.

According to intelligence reports a group of 300 cadres were being trained by the LTTE in this area for the counter attack. Army believes the attack early last morning maybe the first wave of such attackers and that a much larger attack can be anticipated in the days to come. The Tiger cadres were spotted early and as artillery and MBRL strikes opened up, they made a hasty retreat dragging their dead and wounded and sometimes leaving behind weapons.

An air strike was made at the newly constructed LTTE earth bund that spans from Paranthan to north Oddusudan. Monitored communication indicated that a part of the bund, including several LTTE bunkers were hit and that a few cadres either manning or building the bund at the time may have been killed in the strikes.

Meanwhile SLA is preparing for another push at Muhamalai to break into the 2nd defence line of the LTTE. Paths along the no-man's-land ahead of the newly captured areas are being cleared by Army engineers to be used by specialized infantry units for the initial softening-up operations.

Heavy fighting was reported from Olumadu on Friday as Task Force 3 clashed with the LTTE in that area. SLA recovered 11 bodies including 2 decomposed ones. 9 bodies were handed over to the ICRC yesterday. Army believes it may have killed 20 Tigers in this fight which occurred shortly after TF3 surrounded an LTTE bunkerline.

The Army is now in full control of the A9 from Vavuniya (Kandy-Jaffna), all the way upto Kokavil. The checkpoint at Omanthai has been brought virtually to the outskirts of Kilinochchi. From the Army's perspective, these achievements, once thought impossible, are historic and unprecedented.

Yes. In case of A-9, within few weeks we achieved more than whatever the Jayasikuru op was able to achieve in three years.

Now when we are attacking kili this "Kuhaka Ponnaya' goes around slinging mud at Armed Forces, Sarath Fonseka and Gota.
the same thing goes with the UNP. When we were attacking Mavil Aru they said NOT to attack, LTTE is too powerful, they will kill u all ...and when it came to Thoppigala Ranil p said Thoppigala is a thick jungle and it's useless capturing a jungle...! all "Kuhaka katha'...!
now what these ponnayas are saying...Lakshman kariella says we should talk immediately...lakshman Senevirathna says we should continue and destroy the LTTE and he goes on to say this is the official stance of UNP. (both says political solution should be the end answer ) both contradictory statements..! Ranil is yet to officially publicize his stance.

A close monitoring of the pro-LTTE websites and forums indicate that the LTTE is indeed preparing for a “do or die” final battle just like they did during Operation Jeyasikuru in 1998-1999 periods. But at that time around the LTTE was one step ahead of security forces in planning, preparing and executing whereas now the situation is the other way around, even though the LTTE was preparing for war during peace. The pro-LTTE “Puthinam” Tamil website today reported that the LTTE’s political commissioner P.Nadesan called on the K’Nochi district school teachers and principals for help them to motivate and recruit students to join the LTTE as Nadesan declared the LTTE’s new policy that at least one cadre from each family living in Wanni.

According to my assessment, the LTTE avoids confrontations with the military to minimize their casualties as they very well aware of the Sun Tzu’s lessons that “When enemy wants you to fight don’t fight and do fight when enemy unexpected you to fight”.
Therefore the security forces must always be vigilant and expect the unexpected and continuously engage the enemy and must not to give them time to plan, prepare and execute.

Also there are credible reports hinting that the LTTE is in shortage of weapons and ammunitions, as their entire source of supplies are eliminated including the ones from ocean going vessels and the Indian fishermen’s supply chain that is since the fall of Pooneryn. Hence the only alternate way of getting the weapons and ammunitions is that “capturing it from the security forces itself” by infiltrating the FDLs and launching “major surprise raids” in the vast jungle areas of the Wanni terrain which is very well known to LTTE but not to the security forces.

In order to avoid this very same old tactics of LTTE the security forces should establish “zig-zag military observation posts”(OPs) between 1Km-2Km distance where there is a platoon to a company of troops will be guarding with well fortified consolidations, instead of building up huge and long FDLs. This way when LTTE try to infiltrate they will be got caught in between the zig-zag out posts. It was the very same tactics General Janaka Perera used during Operation Riviresa in 1995 to capture Jaffna peninsula and it worked.

if it another large scale push, it is again suicidal without neutralising LTTE positions by air or by other means.

the real battle in this sector takes place 14km - 25km away from each others' fixed positions. it is futile to commit a large troop force for the intermidiary land area without the above.

SLA cannot have permanant positions as long as tiger long range arti/motar can reach them.

Acceptance of that solution by both India and Pakistan could have saved millions of lives, untold treasure, and uplifted their peoples. To my Sri Lankan eyes, one part of this article modified by substitution to read "Egged on by the global fraternity of deranged liberalism, India has concluded that the discrimination and persecution of the Tamil minority lie at the heart of Sri Lanka’s terrorist problem. The thread that binds the conspiracy theorists, the Eelamists and the Sri Lanka-watchers who have been prolific in shedding tears for the Sri Lankan Tamil in the op-ed pages of western publications is the belief that Sri Lanka had it coming" reflects poetic justice! from the very begining I said SLDF must try and kill vesapille. Only LRRP and SLAF can do it.

If we get that MF, Pottu cannot hold other senior cadres much longer, infights inevitable and collapse imminent.

The remaining sheltered ports for use by the larger sea tiger vessels seem to be the Mullaitivu lagoon (large), Chalai (very small) further up the coast from Mullaitivu, and Chundikulam (large capacity because there is a channel here connected to the Jaffna lagoon) further north from Chalai.

It would be difficult to move heavy vessels overland, but the smaller boats with outboard motors can be dragged up the beach anywhere along this coast and hidden under trees or buried in the sand. So, smaller boats can be launched and loaded from anywhere along the coast.

I have a feeling that when Mullaitivu is captured, most of the boats, large and small, would be sunk in shallow water for later retrieval, and the engines removed and buried underground.

Tamil Nadu police have found many abandoned boats, all without the engines. Some engines have been found buried in sand dunes.

I share your frustration too. But India (not TN) has clearly spoken when TN monkeys met MMS. That is enough. He has to send the foreign minister to save face. That is politics. If you read between lines message is clear. NO INTERVENTION IN SHORT RUN.

This brings a remotely possible risk. TN separatists could organise some idiots to attempt reinforcements, arms etc., openly. That woukd be a sticky point but India is stong enough to take that under control.

I am comfortable "politics" has no role to play. It is now purely a military matter until Vesapulle and LTTE is brought to knees.

Sujeewa,

"- way too much mentioning of 1983"

That is because there is "way too much mentioning" of how everything is the fault of the Tamils. The Mushes and Dumb-Arses believe that there was a grand 2000-year Tamil conspiracy to undermine SL and the Sinhalese, with the involvement of the Cholas, Ponnambalam Arunachalam & Ramanathan, GG Ponnambalam all the way to our current Prabakaran.

Since nobody else is correcting their half-assed understanding of how this war started, I have to take the job.

"- never talks about the current SLDF operations which is the key for our presence here."

There isn't much point talking about current tactical military operations given that no one here has access to information coming from the front line, or from HQ for that matter. In any case the SL military is doing well and I don't see why we need to give advice from our expatriate armchair perspective.

You haven't been here long enough and haven't seen my responses to Peter, Shart and others why the LTTE is not doing well. If you want to see one of my recent responses to Peter in a different blog, click here. (interesting that none of the "patriots" want to take on Peter there)

I read DN, DW, and Long Ranger because they actually know what they're talking about, and I tend to ignore the patriotic defense discussions here that are not based on any sort of professional knowledge of military affairs.
Long Ranger couldn't even understand anything that Mushe had written in his blog recently about the use of artillery.

I would prefer to talk about more important and long-term things, such as what will we do after the LTTE is defeated?

"- Ppl accuse him for double playing with a handle which pretended as pro-tiger [echolalia]."

That is pretty funny given that I was debating with Echolalia at that time. I only use one handle here and elsewhere and that is my name. People accuse me of using multiple handles only when they're too stupid to counter what I say.

I don't think that story is true. Prabakaran was never apprehended by the police and never saw the inside of a SL jail. He was in India for most of the 1980s and had been caught by the TN police in 1982 after a shootout in Madras. JR sent IGP Rudra Rajasingham to India to get Thalaivar, but the Indians refused to extradite him.

Since nobody else is correcting their half-assed understanding of how this war started, I have to take the job.]

Typical of an undercover Tamil racist whore-bitch!

Here is a brief excerpt from writings by Prof. Nalin de Silva that amply clarifies that Tamil racism and the grand design for a “Tamil homeland” very well pre-existed even 1956 (the period of much maligned “Sinhela Language” act), leave along 1983!:

[(February 01, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian)

The first phase of Tamil racism baptised by the British, commenced in 1833 with the appointment of one representative each to represent the Sinhalas, Tamils and Burghers. With that the British equated more than two thousand three hundred years of Sinhala history with a continuous history of Tamils in Sri Lanka that did not extend for more than two hundred years. They also equated more than seventy five percent of the population of Sinhala people with less than ten percent of Tamils.

They had no regard for the unique culture that the Sinhalas had created in this country over a period of more than two thousand three hundred years and as far as they were concerned, that culture did not have a weightage more than that was given to Tamil culture that was nothing but a continuation of Tamil culture in the Malabar coast from where the Dutch imported Tamils for their tobacco cultivation. The first phase of Tamil racism in Sri Lanka lasted till about 1947. The Tamil leadership was Tamil Hindu Vellala and they tried to manipulate at that centre (Legislative Assembly until 1931 and then the State Council) and have political power over the entire country. The Tamil racist leadership wanted more representation for them than for the Sinhalas at the centre and in this they were assisted by the British.

Three infamous incidents out of many during this period were the demanding of a Tamil representative for the western province by Mr. Ponnambalam Arunachalam and the others in 1917, the opposition to universal franchise by Mr. Ponnambalam Ramanathan and the others around 1929, and the demanding of fifty fifty representation by Mr. GG Ponnambalam in the forties. Universal franchise was opposed by Tamil racist leadership as it would have given more representation to the Sinhala people in the state council.

During this period the Tamil racists coined the concept of a “Tamil Nation” with a history of more than three thousand years in Sri Lanka. In this exercise as well, they were assisted by the British and were influenced by the mythical history as given in Yalpanam Vaipava Malai written by a Tamil poet who had been "commissioned" by the Dutch. While the Tamil Hindu Vellala leadership in Colombo was fighting against the Sinhalas to deprive Sinhalathva its rightful place in the country, in Jaffna the Vellalas maintained the repressive regime against the less privileged casts.]

Need I say more?

Again nice try Wesaballa (i.e. this time to exonerate the early Tamil racist bitches like GG Ponna, Chelva, etc.) …go utter your cover-up story to a tree!

I mean, not even single word of inspiration for Sri Lankans, let alone heroic defenders of our freedom.

Most certainly, you have the skill to manipulate this blog in non-defence related topics. One time you pretend to be an expert of Brahmi scripts, Sinhala-Prakrit and Tamil. Then you tried to present your own distorted version of history. Neither the DefenceWire nor DefenceNet is meant for discussion of history and politics, even though we get carried away every once in a while. One way or another the SLDF needs a political solution to finish things off for good. You cant expect the budget to spend billions each year for the next decade. The majority of the war budget is for troops - their wages, pension, welfare etc. Not for weapons. Once the areas are captured holding onto it once war is over is costly business.

General Fonseka etc are not going to be there for the next decade. To keep the captured areas in check. But of course you will be there thumping away filth and racist garb on the keyboard for the next decade.

Now ain't that true? The top most military commander to who even General Fonseka answers to is Donald Perera who was the Air chief. If the current air chief was an incompetent buffoon Donald Perera will be the first to fire him off for good. And we all know how hot tempered General Fonseka is and how badly he despises failure. Since you have a grain of defence related matters mentioned, I would say that you are extremely naive to think that LTTE will vanish in to thin air after restoration of full territorial control of Sri Lanka. LTTE will try to surface at every opportunity disrupting any "political solution" as they did in the past. I firmly believe that we need to maintain formidable military in Sri Lanka indefinitely for several reasons:

(1) To maintain full territorial control of Sri Lanka including the redefined maritime boundary.
(2) To respond to any of the future internal threats including leftovers of LTTE and Eelamists.
(3) To deter possible foreign involvements, i.e prepare for the war we will never fight.

So, "political solutions" or not, reducing the size of our military is absolutely downright foolish.

As I stated earlier, this is not the preferable place to discuss political issues. Can you please open your won blog for political solution related issues? Alternatively, you can write to Asian Tribune. I am sure that you will have a good audience if you do so.

CD,

I found the old DN thread with the debate between David Blacker (who had actually served at EPS in the early 1990s) and Mushe. Reading it was like watching a basketball game between Gary Coleman and Charles Barclay:

http://defencenet.blogspot.com/2008/01/suicide-attack-kills-four-civilians.html?commentPage=2

It seems that Blacker's prediction that the SLA would achieve victory in the Wanni before cutting off and taking on EPS was spot on. His final comment ( :-( ) was the most telling:

Qrious, I come to this site to learn and to share. Not to recycle propoganda, or indulge in fantasy. So if you prefer that we let discussions be dragged into the realm of fairy tale by people who don't know what they're talking about, I can stop arguing and trying to correct the mistakes.

Constantin Demiris said...

Sam,

I am with you. Dont get me wrong. Im not saying we have to disband our MBRLs, the jets and the lot. Like I said these dont form the bulk of the SLA cost. Its wages and other wellfare of our soldiers. A some sort of political solution needs to address and give the entrapped civilians an alternative to the LTTE. If not like you said the civilians will harbour whatever remnants. The LTTE on their own WILL NOT and CANNOT survive without a population base. Once its melted away the army needs to reduce its numbers. Any government is not in a position for the next decade to pour in billions. Its not economically feasible. IN short term as they are doing now, it may be feasible. In long term, its a no.

I believe that you are extremely naive and shortsighted in your views of reducing the military. Look around the world on other countries on how they manage disproportionally large military forces and you will find a few ways to do this.

wijayapala said...

Dear Sam,

"I would say that you are extremely naive to think that LTTE will vanish in to thin air after restoration of full territorial control of Sri Lanka."

And I would say you are extremely naive to think that SL can sustain a 500,000-man military indefinitely out of fear of the Tamils and "Big Brother" India i.e. "***the war we will never fight.***"

The LTTE's ability to resurface after its military destruction will depend on how secure the Tamils feel and their alternatives to militancy, namely education and employment. If the Tamils don't feel safe and if there aren't alternatives to violence, then the war will never end.

The LTTE's ability to disrupt a political solution will be sharply diminished after it loses control over population and territory. For example, the LTTE was unable to disrupt the local and PC elections in the East, because the SLDF took the time and effort to clear out Thoppigala first. If a critical mass of the Tamil people sign onto a political solution in the face of LTTE weakness, the Tigers will either have to fight the bulk of their own people or disappear.

Spending all of our national resources on a bloated military after the LTTE's defeat will necessarily divert resources from other areas, such as health and education (that is the point which Ananda-USA was unable to refute). Forget about the Tamils- if the Sinhalese masses believe that they're being marginalized, we will see the 3rd JVP uprising regardless of how large the military is.

When the country is bankrupt and in the midst of internal upheaval, that is when the LTTE will make its comeback.

This is a far far more significant matter than wondering how close 59 Division is to Mullaitivu or how many Tigers we killed over the weekend at Kilinochchi.

wijayapala said...

Sorry Sam, didn't see your last comment:

"Look around the world on other countries on how they manage disproportionally large military forces and you will find a few ways to do this."

Take a look at the following research (by real scholars, not bloggers) and tell us how you plan on accomplishing this:

Military Expenditure and Growth in Less Developed Countries
http://jcr.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/27/2/335

This article analyzes the relationship between military expenditure and economic growth in less developed countries using cross-sectional evidence in a macrostatistical framework. Within the context of a fully specified empirical model it is found that military expenditure has a negative effect on growth and thus retards development. Specification sensitivity analysis is conducted to show that the results are robust.

Guns versus Butter: A Multisectoral Approach to Military Expenditure and Growth with Evidence from Greece, 1960-1993
http://jcr.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/43/4/501

This article investigates the growth-defense relationship in the case of Greece over the period from 1960 to 1993. Results show that the annual output growth rate in Greece is negatively affected by the size of the defense sector, as measured by real military expenditure. They indicate that the post-1974 threat of war facing Greece as well as the oil-price shocks of the 1970s have retarded economic growth in this country.

[I believe that you are extremely naive and shortsighted in your views of reducing the military. Look around the world on other countries on how they manage disproportionally large military forces and you will find a few ways to do this.]

Being naieve and shortsighted is you my friend. This is SL, tiny spec on the Indian ocean. When other LTTE analysts point fingers at bigger countries and their failure to defeat taliban in afghanistan and AQ in Iraq, you point to the same armies and say how big they are.

Of course there's a way to do this, if the entire army VOLUNTEERS. I suppose you will be the first to volunteer in such a endeavour? Would you volunteer freely to defend the territory Sam?

This is the reality. The people needs to be given an alternative. Why do you think the GOSL is propping up Karuna and Pillayan so much? Thats the alternative GOSL have given to ex-LTTE commanders. If they were treated badly as some political discards, where are they supposed to turn to? Likewise the people of the Wanni needs to be given an alternative, an alternative to show them how WRONG they were to be under the jackboot of the LTTE.

Confidene of the population is something we need to permanently crush this menace. Watch body of lies if it doesn't mean anything what Im talking about. As the head of the Jordanian intelligence said "watch and learn"

What you play is a very ideological scenario. What you believe to be impossible may not be the impossible for others. What used to be the impossible for many military pundits and media pundits have been proved possible by a good political leadership, military leadership, and braves soldiers (like Lt. Col. Running away from the topic now are we?

Just saw two video links to Ranil's shenanigans.

Are you painting with a broad brush to include those authors who posted the links as well?

Like I said, if the entire massive army volunteers ONLY maintaining such a army becomes economically feasible. So are you volunteering for such an endeavour? You don't believe me obviously. Just ask any high ranker in the army. I happen to know a few army medics since Im in the medical field.

And I know how badly and poorly our hospitals are run. Almost always running out of basic medical supplies. Not a single day passes without having to transfer meds from other hospitals. I mean basics like Aspirin and Salbutamol inhalers. Desoyza maternity hospital runs on burette sets. Now dont know if you will allow your child to be under the care of a burette set. The list goes on.

I will leave you to your fairy tales. At least the government is working the right way. It broke the JVP and made it a non-entity. it wont be long before parties like JHU break up. I think already the TNA is being dealt with.

Meanwhile we're yet to know the latest between you and Mahen. Last time I saw you two chatting you tried your Vellala supremacy over Mahen's sakkili presence to shut him up, when he called your anti-VP stance as traitor. Pity that Mahen has gone bankrupted with expensive promises whereas Peter, who bought the untied rope given by Mahen has gone hidden behind the scene. They both mark their presence by occasionally counting the number of km to Kilinochchi. Sadly for you guys, even their counting is getting lesser.

Bhairav you ought to answer few questions that I have.

Firstly, if I accuse VP for betraying the tamil race's chance for a separate country in SL, how would you take that?

Secondly, with the new standings of Wanni chess board, how can tigers turn tables from here?

Let me help you a bit. Every attempt of counter attack was sunk. The unceasing waves has been turned into self destruction waves by the intro of MBRL in common use. TAF may still try but they also seem to be more of an exhibition than an effective weapon. SLDF is banging many doors of Wanni and VP don't even have enough staff to open all the doors at the same time. Every sinister plan is getting well spoiled in Colombo. India seem to be determined this time to stand against terror. Mumbai terrorists gave them the final answer. Karunabudi has become a show clown.

Now tell me in these grounds, how are tigers gonna turn the tide for their advantage?

OK now there seem to be one hell of a political debate and 1983 debate. I think it is time to raise the relatively unimportant (wrt the politics fans) topic of today's war.

Just happened to know that they spoiled another sinister plan of jumping to a VIP vehicle from a Colombo building.

Smart thinking, is it?

More than any smart thinking behind this, we can consider that this is a great compliment for SLDF and their protection of city. Those who find offended at check points can think twice now. It is very easy to conduct a terror act. It is 1000 times hard to avoid. If our forces could avoid even the suicide cadres from attacking in their usual fashion and they are trying to innovate new ways, wow well done SLDF.

However threats in Colombo are mildly overcome. Last time I visited there, I ended up astonished to notice the number of abandoned/rusted buildings in the surrounding of MR residence.

If we leave such for easy access to a terrorist, MR's life is hanging in the delicate thread of avoiding a sniper being smuggled there. Note that some such buildings are small stores and saiver kades. Time to BUY the land surrounding important residencies.

Also I saw some photo of MR opening an over-head bridge down Kandy rd. He's making a walk in the park overlooking shanties and slums. On what grounds do you leave out the possibility of snipers or RPG hiding inside the slums? Why does the price president risk his life for a stupid overhead bridge?

And the TAF risk that some ppl argued/proved here. We're not yet through.

In the coming months tigers will be pushed to the wall and they know [despite all punnakku sold to die-as-buruwah] that they have NO chance in battle front. This operation is at best precision and basically flawless. So they will try the best black magic in Colombo. We should not leave it all in the hands of MI corp. Some preemptive actions and intensified search operations are needed.

Otherwise, 100 catches will render meaningless by one miss.

Ano,

Holding into captured areas would be very expensive venture for this current government as global economy is heading into deep recession. Given current conditions, the present govrn can only sustain this war efforts for next 2 years at max, so LTTE should reassess this opportunity into their favor by going into rebuilding mode while maintaining the sporadic small scale attacks on the government forces for next one year. In 2 years time, SLA will be thinly overstretched with lack of resources and it will allow the LTTE to square the match even. I won't see anything biggie from LTTE for next 6 months.

Sam,

[Do you really believe that LTTE and Eelamist are going to vanish soon? Ok, can you please tell me what you mean by "post-war?" What are the conditions you expect in your post-war era?]

Of course they wont vanish soon. If you listed to the commander's interview he clearly said the LTTE will go udnerground. If they go underground they are going to need the population to support them and harbour them AMONG them, just like some civilians are doing in Colombo and the East. Ob viously this can be kept in check with a massive military, daily road blocks, security checks etc. But at what cost? Will the people tolerate such hardships once the war is over? Questions will be asked what was the point of the war if the security isn't improved?

By putting up a political solution and expediting the development of the war torn areas the underground LTTE cadres and their supporters surely will lose the will and determination to fight. Take Karuna for example. Will he go back to mosquito infested jungles and fight dropping his limo, his suit, his mobile and other perks? Why do you think the GOSL is propagating to LTTE cadres that surrendees will be given foreign job opportunities? Its all about an alternative and winning their hearts and minds. Once their hearts and minds are with us, we dont need such a massive army to keep them in check. And with the money saving it can be put to good use to develop other areas like Health or else our own Sinhalese will rise against poverty. The last thing we need is for the JVP to exploit the poor and cause another uprising.

I am very very happy with the way the war is going, make no mistake. But when its drawing to a close, we'd better think fast of a post war situation. Cos its reaching us fast than we all think.

the level of desperation of the LTTE!

LTTE's inability to respond militarily to the advancing army is very clear. it is harping too much on the budget, floods, elections and other irrelevancies instead of the do or die battle at hand.

I won't see anything biggie from LTTE for next 6 months.]]

Thank you for the attempt.

Your answer is built upon few basic assumptions. So let me clear them from your mind, so that you can reconsider above answer in their void.

- tigers will be left with the same strength after the land under their control, is liberated.

there is a day for them to take SLDF head on, or flee to another country. I mean for the "elite" lot (looks like the sacrificial one-from-each-family can be used as cannon-fodder until then). Their strength will be reduced to 1/10 in numbers, weaponry and strategy by the time we liberate Wanni

- public support to tigers comes fully with willingness.

Most Wanni ppl are suppressed. We're yet to hear their voice. Also some others are fooled. They are yet to hear outside voices to get enlightened. In my opinion tigers will get < 25% support if we can chase them out of SL. Even that 25% will gradually forget tigers.

When the tiger strong control is removed, regaining it will be next to impossible

- SLDF will have to be the shepherd dogs of Wanni herd for ever.

Not exactly. Many tamils will guard their siblings from falling to terrorism. Also SL police and STF will take part in this. I agree that it will be a big task to maintain, but not an impossible one. In the worst case SLDF out number Wanni population :)

- No tigers will enter politics and turn sides [like TMVP]

In the contrary, this will become a practice for many. There must be so many who join tigers as they wanna represent their ppl. Not everyone is a fooled child soldier. In the lack of VP and big lot, the juniors will rise for the need. And they will take care of the remaining tigers. SL will never violate tamil right for self annihilation.

- After capturing the entire wanni SLDF will fail to find the ratholes of every tiger leader.

This means essentially they have to flee. Not only them but also any "elite" fighters who wanna fight another day. Note that coordinating from abroad is quite hard

- Wanni population is the same as the 1981 consensus.

Thanks to Prabha we lost troubling tamils either into first world countries where they started getting troubled or to maveerer mass graves. [This is the Question which you convieniently skipped]. Today Wanni population is the poorest and most demoralized group of people who will definitely become dependents on rest of SL after liberation. They will represent < 5% of population.

Jaffna tamils are relatively under control and their multi-political system is making them ordinary people. Here and there support for tigers will diminish if we liberate Wanni and make VP and clan fugitives on die-as-buruwah expense.

Look at colombo tamils. They live mostly harmless. Some may be separatist and tiger supporters, but majority either oppose tigers or are forced to support. They have every power an ordinary SL has. Note that it will be next to impossible to turn them into terrorists.

We do NOT consider die-as-buruwah important unless they have sizable support here. You guys can have a beer on Nov 27, wear black arm band on July 31, and have a social gathering like sports meet on any decided Pongu Thamil day. Make VP chief guest

BTW, Bhairav, thanks again for understanding that there is no way for tigers this time. And as long as SL makes sure there is no next time, it will diminish and become history.

And now I suppose you can/have answer for my previous Q.

if I accuse VP for betraying the tamil race's chance for a separate country in SL, how would you take that?

The LTTE’s political head B Nadesan told teachers and principals of schools in Vaddakachchi in Kilinochchi district on December 4, that it was time every Tamil in the Wanni war zone joined the fighting cadre of the Liberation Tigers.

He quoted General Giap, the hero of the Vietnam War, to say that a liberation war could be won only when everybody participated in the fighting, and every village became a military camp. Nadesan defended the LTTE’s demand that every family in the Wanni should give at least one person to its fighting forces saying that it was a “compulsion of the times”.

This wesaball (aka Wijaypala the undercover Tamil racist) and Crap & Debris are really out to demoralize SL patriots about scenarios of “after the war” whereby their modes-operandi is to set stage for a resurgence of the LTTE type of terrorism to rear its ugly head again in SL – by now itself complaining about the high defense expenditure, the economy, asking for quick demobilization of the SLDF, blah blah!

As such, they condemn the current politico/military establishment with a view to demoralizing our fighting troops and the general populace (from which troops are drawn)!

Here is an example, whereby wesaballa aka “wijayapala” (the undercover Tamil racist gook) said in this thread:

[This (i.e. the AFTER war issues) is a far more significant matter than wondering how close 59 Division is to Mullaitivu or how many Tigers we killed over the weekend at Kilinochchi.]

Really?

See what I mean patriots?

Yes, these traitor-motherfcukers are the “thamileelam fifth column"…yes, they very surreptitiously lurk in here and set stage for the next “LTTE” resurgence! They know this “LTTE” is all but gone now..so, the mission is to set the stage for the next “LTTE” (like their forefathers GG Ponnambalam, Ponnambalam Arunachalam, Ponnambalam Ramanathan, did years ago for this LTTE!)

(Wow! I just noticed…three of the biggest Tamil racist gooks SL has ever had, they all had “ponna” in their name! Coincidence?) LMSSAO!!!

Hey wesaballa aka “wijayapala”…take it easy “thamileelamist” undercover bitch, it appears you are not the first Ponnaya to go against Motherlanka! I see you have had many noteworthy ancestors!)

3. bombs sizable LTTE concentrations
4. destroy LTTE`s evacuation systems
5. destroy LTTE`s weapons transport systems (they must be VERY efficient)

7. attack tiger leaders` fox holes
8. provide MORE CAS
9. provide MORE, UP-TO-THE-MINUTE UAV footage to SLA
10. rape LTTE cadre transport systems (to the battle front) that seem to be very efficient
11. run down the LTTE morale by using devastating gravity bombs
12. use cluster bombs in DIRECT retaliation to APMs heavily used by tigers.]

Why being selective? lol

Brothers,

It seems Sakkilya’s are setting a trend here. Emerging trend is that Sakkilya’s telling us what to do and how to behave after the war. They are, softening our hearts and minds (not attempting to win our H&M’s but softening our H&M’s after 30 years of chaos they have created and totally responsible of. We do not have to respond to that. NOT AT ALL.

Well these are the Sakkiliya’s, who were arguing we would never win this war (right) couple of weeks ago. The crust of their arguments are “how can or should we maintain such a large army?” and “LTTE would go underground and fight back again”.

Well, I said before next five years would be a period Tamils paying blood money to Sinhalese. If I put in modern terms cooperate and live in to our terms. It is our turn to say – Tamils, you have to prove us first that you are a transformed group and trustworthy citizens. It is not for us to do the reverse. We could and should have done otherway had they not promised to bring Ealam war IV to Colombo and instead settled for a political settlement peacefully. That is the responsibility of Tamil politicians/masses now. We must declare this to the world and India in no uncertail terms.

The response to their question, “how can we maintain such a large army?” The answer should be along the lines, Fuck-off, get lost, none of your business (or politely show the finger or just ignore)

The other argument, if we do not do that, separatist politics (as Moshe puts non-violent form separatism) would make sure the Ealam Dream would kept alive until next generation of LTTE raises its head. That “LTTE would go underground and fight back again” Blah, blah….

The answer would be – Piss-off. We will take care of that. That is why 2009 budget is there for – to pick them one by one and crush them like bugs.

I think when the war is over; we must take the best brains and smart operators from the SLDF/SLP/CID to produce a shadow intelligence/quick response group (similar to FBI, KGB operatives) specifically targeting to weed-off non-violent separatism or any armed struggle against an elected government. MR should campaign his next election with clear message asking a mandate to constitutionalise what ever the powers and legislature required to do that. OPERATIONS of this unit must only be within our shores. We must acquire state-of-the-art know-how and establish a defense institution (University) to do R&D in this sector and be the most resourceful unit in SAARC region. Must get the top students in each discipline of study and pay them a top dollar to retain them within borders. GoSL must not let, numerous organizations evolved around the world in addressing this national question (like key-board worriors here) ever to die-off after the successful conclusion of this war against separatism. GoSL must find a way to intigrate these huge networks to mak Lanka Matha safe and protected.

sam,

ok. you proved me wrong.

the language used in the sinhala text suggests that SLA has captured with the intent of keeping the second FDL of kilali. so it is much more than a softening-up operation.

i recon it is second OF MANY. bcos the LTTE strategy is to maintain 3 levels of "FDL"s that are enforced with different levels of resistance and tactics. what has essentially happened is the whole FDL structure of the LTTE has been pushed southwards. good going by SLA.

but taking out LTTE 152, 122 & 120mm arti/motar positions around EP and south, south-west and south-east areas should continue. otherwise our gains would not be permanant. i guess this statement is the "tick" in my case!!!!!

based on info, SLA casualties in the muhamalai, etc. sector has been caused by the following in that order.

1. long range arti/mortar (these are fcuking accurate thanks to spotters which is explained beautifully by long ranger)
2. mines
3. short range mortar/LTTE combatants.
4. other cowardly tricks.

our mechanised infantry div has not been that very successful unfortunately. small teams have been much more successful.

Ananda-USA,

I knew you were not addressing me directly.I gave my-self as an example to put more weight on to the point I was discussing.

Wijayapala,

Thanks for clarifying your position as a direct response to my request. I gather,

You are anti-LTTE
You are anti-ealam
You are anti-seperatism
You are pro-SriLankan
You are pro-Anandasagaree.

You have been so far responding in a reactive way to parts of what other bloggers were saying. That can put a suspicion on some minds. If you may, I would invite you to write on what value system we should strive in a future Sri Lanka to avoid bloodshed between races. With a particular reference to,

What instruments available to us, Sri Lankans, in defusing 1000s of years of prejudice and accumulated hurt? In my view prejudice and accumulated hurt are the two most fundamental mechanisms of racial hatred (or to that matter any hatred). As you would agree with me, we Sinhalese and Tamils have our fair share of that in Sri Lanka, isn’t it? So that would be a facinating dialoge. I am sure at least few of us are interested to here your practical proposals.

Moshe brother,

Take your time mate. I know you are very busy doing more important things. Perhaps, my question is already being answered as SLAF is getting in to their act now. 6th Dec. alone they had 6 air sorties.

One TN Mf being stopped at the airport trying to go to TN (apparently Medical teatment - Ha, Ha). These MF's must be behind bars some time ago.

agree except for the UNP part.

UNP as it is would LOVE a general election bcos it can increase its fold.

i guess UNP now has about 50 seats?? that is 25% of all seats excluding the seats the winner gets in each district.

UNP can get MUCH MORE than 25% if there is an election today. i'm no supporter of the present URINE-PEE.
but this is the reality.

there is a second scenario. if the 17 cross over, the percentage increases to 33%. in that case UNP will be thinking (if they can think!) can we get more than 33% at the next election? if yes, they will love an election. if no, they will hang about.

i think still it can get more than 33% (excluding thonda and a section of the SLMC). i may be wrong bcos i don't know HOW unpopular the UNP is among the TOTAL SL population. rana disagreed with me. he may be right.

anyway if the budget loses, there will be a general election. so under both scenarios there is a high chance of an election.

however, i recon the govt will win the budget so the UNP will have no chance of forcing an election.

hmm i dont think the 'counter-attack' was really a counter attack. maybe a diversion. cos 100 fighters won't be enough to have a sustained push. i guess it was a farce. just to excite the sla.

i saw a video online, 1000s of fighters training underground and in secret locations. these fighters are not at the FDLs. more like charles anthony brigade peeps. lets wait for shock and awe. ill grab my popcorn.. you guys get the body bags for the dead and wounded dead.

I'd like to remind that big talk and big threats do not scare us.... let's see some action...

... are those "thousands of fighters training in a hidden location" at least eight years old???

By the way, is the great peelam war IV close to Colombo now?

Haaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!

Haaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!

Saman,

[It seems Sakkilya’s are setting a trend here. Emerging trend is that Sakkilya’s telling us what to do and how to behave after the war. They are, softening our hearts and minds (not attempting to win our H&M’s but softening our H&M’s after 30 years of chaos they have created and totally responsible of. We do not have to respond to that. NOT AT ALL.]

Bravo! This is partly what I have been consistently writing about at this blog and elsewhere. But I am rather puzzled by your blowing hot and cold alternately.

[Well these are the Sakkiliya’s, who were arguing we would never win this war (right) couple of weeks ago. The crust of their arguments are “how can or should we maintain such a large army?” and “LTTE would go underground and fight back again”.]

Yes, when I proposed a 500,000 man standing army backed by a 4,000,000 National Guard, including all adults who can bear arms, LTTE agents at this blog tried to discourage that idea. If you go back in this blog, you will be able to find out who they are.

[Well, I said before next five years would be a period Tamils paying blood money to Sinhalese. We must declare this to the world and India in no uncertail terms.]

Exactly, but scrupulously ensuring equal rights for every citizen.

[The response to their question, “how can we maintain such a large army?” The answer should be along the lines, Fuck-off, get lost, none of your business (or politely show the finger or just ignore)]

It is worthwhile to generate ideas for supporting such a defence force in the future, but some people only see difficulties along the lines of "if man had been meant to fly, he would have been born with wings!" These are the people who want to prevent it from happening at any cost! I stopped responding to one such person trolling this blog.

[The other argument, if we do not do that, separatist politics (as Moshe puts non-violent form separatism) would make sure the Ealam Dream would kept alive until next generation of LTTE raises its head. That “LTTE would go underground and fight back again” Blah, blah….

The answer would be – Piss-off. We will take care of that. That is why 2009 budget is there for – to pick them one by one and crush them like bugs.]

Agreed! Again, they are erecting barriers to prevent our protecting the motherland, so we could keep debating the subject ad infinitum, and do nothing about it. Some LTTE agents are overt, others are covert stealth operators who want to demoralize and get us collectively immobilized in a ball of sticky wax.

Over the last 35 years, I have seen this in action over and over again...to the deteriment of Sri Lanka. It makes my blood boil to think of the period, ten years ago, when everyone in Sri Lanka was a peacemaker, and anyone who stood up for the integrity of our country, a military solution to defeating an armed murderous enemy, was a racist or extremist. As a result, our leaders agreed to divide the country and endanger our people forvever! If these attitudes had prevailed in the US during WW-II, Americans would now be speaking German in Washington, DC and Japanese in San Francisco! Confronted with a mortal danger to their countries, the British and the Americans, put aside all their differences and came together to save their countries.

When I see Mangala, Ranil W, the UNP, and the JVP trying to undermine the GOSL, my anger knows no bounds! When, by God when will we learn to come together to save our country?; to recognize the tricks that have time and again been played on us until a rag-tag terrorist group became a conventional army and the coutry lay supine like a turkey on a cutting board to be carved into pieces? Have these leaders no compassion, no love, no concern for the survival for our people? I don't care which party runs the GOSL, but they must take the same stand the current Govt has taken, and I see no prospect of any other leadership having the intestinal fortitude displayed by Mahinda Rajapakse, Gothaphaya Rajapakse and Gen. Sarath Fonseka.

[I think when the war is over; we must take the best brains and smart operators from the SLDF/SLP/CID to produce a shadow intelligence/quick response group (similar to FBI, KGB operatives) specifically targeting to weed-off non-violent separatism or any armed struggle against an elected government. GoSL must find a way to intigrate these huge networks to mak Lanka Matha safe and protected.]

Agreed, but with appropriate safeguards against the emergence of a totalitarian undemocratic state. That is where the 4,000,000 man National Guard I proposed comes in. The entire population, trained and organized to protect both our nation's integrity and our freedoms, will be an insurmountable barrier either to a coup-detat by the large standing army, or any external or internal enemies. To ensure this, every effort should be made to instill a sense of enduring patriotism in the National Guard..as in Israel. They should be inducted into service in a moving candle light ceremony on the heights of Balane' where one invading army was crushed to extinction.

Wijayapala,

Long Ranger couldn't even understand anything that Mushe had written in his blog recently about the use of artillery.

Moshe is a good sort if he stops pretending to be an armchair general.
Your posts on the other hand in addition to having as much errors, are irrelevant to this blog, and starting to get boring. I have read them so far out of curiosity about your background, and I am starting to think Asithri is right. So please start your own blog to spread your bullshit.

If you like to contribute, do your bit also!

Moshe,
The government will loose the budget only if UNP(D) goes back to UNP. If they return then UNP should not go for an election. (And if they don't UNP don't get an election)

Ananda-USA,

Thanks brother for your detail response. We both are pretty much on the same track, I guess.

Let me clarify your concern,

/But I am rather puzzled by your blowing hot and cold alternately./

Mate, two things kept me interested on this course (I call national question) over the last 30years (78-08).
1. Tamil seperatism
2. racism (from all sides)

I firmly believe we need to cull both to succeed. It can only be done by proper govenance, legislature and accountability to law and order.

I have never stepped out of these two guides. When rushing through lines and taking segments a bit out of context - many bloggers feels things are a bit out of line.

If you ever felt I was "blowing cold" probably I was addressing #2 from ourside with perticular reference to an event quite familier to us. When you felt, I was "blowing hot" that could have been due to #1 and when seperatists advocating #2.

For example, on that event, you and Moshe were marginally different to my thinking especially taking collective responsibility as a nation on #2. On the same account, Wijayapala called me racist (and my mother fed me kassippu when I was small)when I declared TN is where tamil homeland must be and 95% of street sweepers in TN are Tamils.

I hope this clarifies your concern.

Asithri to C Demiris
-----------------------

Wow! Sounds like another Portuguese rapist/arsonist out to devour our Motherlanka!

Whore-bitch…do you want me to tell you what my ancestors used to do to captured Portuguese “soldadts” in our proud down-south Ruhuney? I bet not!
-------------------------
Wijayapala to Sam Perera
--------------------------
Yes, I can see that my posts don't hold a candle to the above thought-provoking analysis of your fellow "defense enthusiast." Can you answer the burning question what Dumb-Arse's ancestors did to your ancestors?
-----------------------

Wijayapala, you have been naughty again, trying to set up Sam against Asithri but Sam ducked the Q.

Now, we will have to ask Asithri the answer!

what your ancestors used to do to captured Portuguese “soldadts” in your proud down-south Ruhuney?

I will wait....

wijayapala,

I find your political views to be very interesting. I understand that you are a Tamil Sri Lankan? If you don't mind, I would like to know your general political affiliation as far as the current war is concerned.

????? Is this the same Sam??? Is someone impersonating him now?

Alas, the profile IDs check out- the same Sam who wanted me to talk politics is now shrieking against talking politics (or defense matters). Schizophrenia again hits those closest to us....
